what do you mean by this step " vb_beta stuff if coming from MIUI"?
After flashing is error "failed to mount /data (no such file or directory)"
edit: That one solved by installing newest twrp 3.4.2b-0623
ROM is botting even after that error, but is stuck on picking wifi or 4g.

Hi all,
I want to try this ROM. I'm on Xiaomi.eu 12.2.2
It is possible to do a Nandroid backup (With TWRP) before flashing Project 404 AND be able to restore the xiaomi.eu ROM if Project 404 don't match my expectancy ?

Ok, trying to flash since 2 hours. I'm on TWRP 3.4.2b-1206
3 errors while flashing
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
....
Failed to mount '/vendor' (invalid argument)
Failed to mount '/odm' (invalid argument)
Getting sick of it.

Hey man, keep pushing! I spent almost 5 hours on this, but the payoff of getting AOSP on my Mi 10 was well worth it Here's the steps I took. I was coming from MIUI Global which is still on Android 10, so you can skip to Step 7:
1. Download the latest MIUI China Fastboot ROM: https://xiaomirom.com/en/rom/mi-10-...overy-rom/#download-mi-10-stable-fastboot-rom
2. Connect your phone to your PC
3. Put your phone into fastboot mode by holding Vol up + Power until it reboots
4. Extract the downloaded MIUI rom twice (first one is a tgz, second is a tar).
5. Run the flash_all.bat. Let it run for a while
6. Boot into MIUI and finish setup
7. Download this TWRP (MUST be this one, since we're flashing Android 11): https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=10763459528675582373
8. Extract the .7z archive with 7zip, and enter the directory until you see fastboot.exe and recovery.img
9. Without anything in that folder selected, press SHIFT+Right Click in any blank space in the folder to open up the context menu, and choose Open PowerShell window here.
10. Put your phone into Fastboot mode
11. Run the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery .\recovery.img
fastboot boot .\recovery.img
11.5 If your TWRP is in Chinese, choose the 3rd option in the 2nd column, then choose the globe icon, select English, and then tap the button in the bottom right corner to change the language.
12. Go to Wipe > Format Data. Type 'yes' and let it do its thing. Go back to the Wipe menu and do a Factory Reset wipe.
13. Go to Reboot > Reboot to Recovery. Your phone should reboot back to TWRP
14. Go to Install. You should see a TWRP folder there. This means your data partition is working fine without encryption.
15. Place your ROM (Project 404 in this case) and Magisk onto the internal storage
16. Flash ROM. Should go ahead without a hitch now since you're on the correct TWRP version.
17. Wipe Dalvik/Cache.
18. Go to Reboot > Reboot to Recovery
19. Go to Wipe > Flash Magisk
20. DO NOT WIPE DALVIK/CACHE. Just reboot to system.
21. It should boot up now

Damn, what an amazing reply ! You should be in the first post of this topic !
I bricked 3 times my phone yesterday, finaly I could revive it but I spent 8 hours on working on this phone. I think i'm maybe too stupid for this. If I had your tutorial yesterday, be sure I would try it !

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

I will use this post to share my work
Sorry for making another TWRP thread, but i've had enough with our current TWRP.
I have enabled logcat and strace.
This is the initial release so keep in mind that it has (probably) currently the same bugs with the official.
The only difference is that you can grab any kind of log and help me improve it and only when it will be stable enough , only then, i will push to the official.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VERSION: recovery-3.3.1-0-b.img | date: 15-06-2019
FIXED:
1. mounts correctly all partitions
2. backup to usb-otg enabled
3. backup all partitions except data (i need to fix decryption)
4. restore fixed.
5. ADB sideload fixed.
6. you can flash a kernel and a recovery .img directly inside TWRP. No more rebooting to bootloader.
NOT TESTED:
1. I don't know about format yet. i haven't tested it because im not ready to format yet.
If anyone is about to format anyway, please after format do:
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
and
Code:
adb logcat -b all > logcat.txt
And send me these two logs so that i can fix format and we don't need stock Huawei recovery anymore.
2. Can't flash GAPPS exactly like in the official.
VERSION: recovery-3.3.1-0-c.img | date: 17-06-2019
FIXED:
1. GAPPS flashing fixed. Same goes for any other flashable package.
2. backup data and wipe data are fixed. (not tested restore yet)
NOT FIXED:
1. Even if wipe data and backup data are fixed, and even though we can restore data ! Sadly there are bugs when we wipe data or perform a restore. Until i fix (if i fix it) decryption, please keep using the stock Huawei recovery to format your data and avoid restoring data.
ISSUE: Data partition is fine and it sais that it's 128gb but apps think that we don't have enough "free space". It may just be an issue in vold too in the rom where i tested it.
VERSION: recovery-3.3.1-0-d + e.img | date: 20-06-2019
FIXED:
- minor bug fixes for stability
- added nvme partition which is needed during the decryption
- adb sideload fixed. No need to push and install
NOT FIXED:
- decryption
- format
It's great news man. Looking forward to your further progress! Fully functional twrp is the juice.
Amazing, hope we can have finally fully functional twrp
Thanks

not yet. gimme some hours. im trying to fix something and then ill share a new build.
i have 2 errors left:
1. linker: Warning: couldn't read "/system/etc/ld.config.txt" for "/sbin/sh" (using default configuration instead): error reading file "/system/etc/ld.config.txt": Too many symbolic links encountered
That problem is in bionic.
in bionic/linker/tests/linker_config_test.cpp or in
bionic/linker/ld.config.format.md. But i can't figure it out yet. That will fix the gapps flashing issue with latest TWRP and mine.
What's strange is that it doesn't happen to everyone. So i'm confused.
Me i can't flash any gapps, when others reported to me that they can.

At least wait for 1. otherwise you may need 3.2 official TWRP to flash gapps and it's boring to flash other TWRP every time.

just use it then. if it can flash anything for you, then use it.
ill upload another one now that can also backup data.
For those who cant flash gapps just use twrp 3.2 official.
problem is symlink : system/etc to /etc.
@steadfasterX will help me with that.

i found a temporary fix until @steadfasterX helps me out. its ok for flashing. system backup is not ok.

- Even though format is successful, TWRP will freeze and on next boot we can't boot or boot to TWRP.
We must format with stock Huawei recovery to fix that. So do not use the format yet in TWRP.
There must be some specific command that huawei uses to format the f2fs data partition. It's impossible to get that from a first boot from EMUI because adb logcat is not allowed until we unlock and enable
developer options. Plus that we can't selectively decrypt and encrypt again like we did a few years ago on older devices.... so i have to test several format command lines randomly until i get the right one.
- When i decrypt i get a fail, without a clear error. Decryption still has a looooong way to the fix and i don't have the time for that to do it daily, so be patient.
Well, at least we have a reliable TWRP now.

Lukas do not wipe data at an encrypted and non-decrypted partition.
When you will boot again to the rom, the system will think that data is clean so it will attempt to encrypt the already encrypted.
At settings you will see that you have 128gb data partition but you will have only a few mb actually.
wipe data does NOT remove encrption, only a format can remove the encryption.

Did it actually wipe though? If it didn't the ROM may still boot as it would simply be a dirty flash.
Hi,
although I'm on a P20 Lite, does this work with EMUI9.x?
Is it possible to create TWRP also for ANE-LX1?
Does this work with GSI or only Stock ROMs?

the only way to know that is to flash it and test it.
what are you afraid of ? if twrp doesn't boot, you can flash back the stock huawei recovery again.
>> the device won't have any issues if twrp is not for that device <<
It should work if it can boot. The only difference is our resolution. So if you see TWRP boot , then it's ok to use it.
* It will probably work because i don't force any specific resolution here.
But if it doesn't , change this to your resolution https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel...43104c493e172dc469d7838153/BoardConfig.mk#L53
and build TWRP for p20 lite
Hm, ok, my P20Lite boots up, adb is initialized and I can also swipe to start but after 5-10 seconds, the phone just reboots to bootloader, so I cannot do anything useful with it....
I'm currently on EMUI9.1 (so A/B partitioned) and I already faced this behaviour on askuccios TWRP...

Flash the encryption_disabler.zip from the link below to disable internal storage encryption and patch stock recovery restoration.
Additionally, flash TWRP_Bootlogo_patcher to patch warning screens when booting the device.
If you want to root, flash Magisk.

FAQ
Q: TWRP can't mount data partition, what to do?
A: Make sure you formatted data partition.
Q: Phone is not booting even after 20 minutes
A: Try to reboot. If still not booting, make sure you flashed encryption disabler zip / formatted data partition.
Q: How to format data partition?
A:
Q: Phone is showing only Samsung logo
A: Try to reboot. If still not booting, consider installing a more recent firmware. If you still don't succeed, post here some details about your device and previous firmware and we might be able to help.
Q: Why do i need to format data partition?
A: Because old firmware encrypted your data partition and new rom can't decrypt and use that content / root needs access to data partition to place misc files / phone not booting after flashing root until data partition gets formatted.
Q: I can't flash anything with TWRP. Internal Storage has some random folders with weird name.
A: Format Data and flash encryption disabler.
Info about custom super partition helper binary. (Irrelevant because of native logical partitions but yeah, its present)
It's meant to help with managing partitions inside the super partition itself. It has some functions built in like mount, unmount, flash and format. Here is a brief rundown on what each of them do.
Partitions that are supported are:
system, system_root, vendor, odm, product
Click to collapse
Please note that system_root is an alias of system and umount is an alias of unmount.
All of these commands are runnable through TWRP Terminal ONLY!
Code:
super mount partition
This will mount partition in rw mode in mountpoint in fstab.
Code:
super unmount[or umount] partition
This command will unmount given partition and make it read only.
Code:
super format partition
This command will format given partition as ext4 inside super partition.
Code:
super flash partition /path/to/image.img
Flashes image.img to partition.
You can also flash GSI (Generic System Image) using this command. Simply run:
Code:
super flash system /path/to/gsi.img
For Custom ROM Developers:
You can use this as an alternative to mount/format/unmount partitions that are inside super partition normally.
Code:
run_program("/sbin/super", "format", "system"); # formats system
run_program("/sbin/super", "mount", "system"); # mounts system as rw
run_program("/sbin/super", "unmount", "system"); # unmounts system and makes it ro

Hello there,
I followed all steps and in the end ended up having with the device only showing the Samsung logo after I flashed magisk (magisk version here: https://magisk.me/zip/). I had a 64gb version of the SM-M315 running the latest android 11 version provided by samsung (current date: 10.04.2021). I have not yet managed to escape the bootloop, veen when trying to restart the warnings appear and then the samsung logo displays. I have made a pre-root version backup, but have not yet managed to return to the recovery.
Edit: I am aware that I have might bricked my device and just wanted to ask if there is anything that I could do just in the case that my assumption is wrong.

nope, you havent bricked. start by flashing stock rom again, the flash twrp, AND BE SURE to flash encryption disabler and format data. thats all and it should boot. if you skip encryption dissabler, then the stock recovery will auto restore itself(which seems your case)
if i do this:
11* If you're coming from stock, go to "Wipe" > ""Format Data" > type "yes" to format data. If you skip this Internal storage won't work in TWRP
will i lose my data? because i dont have sd card so if i lose my data i wont be able to do the next steps.
Thanks. I successfully installed twrp and rooted my phone. I also successfully installed Encryption Disabler. But, unfortunately couldn't install TWRP_Bootlogo_patcher. Every time I try to flash it, it always ended with Error: 1, showing “device is not compatible.”
I am on latest one UI 3.1, which released just yesterday. Is this happening as my rom is too latest for ur supplied zip file? Hope, u will answer soon. Thanks again.
NB: I already formatted data by typing “yes”.

Hello, neobuddy89.
I installed the rom this morning.
I encountered only a "bug" (??).
In developer'options, I choose as usual "File transfer" but it is then automatically set to "No data transfer".
Correction isn't urgent. I can use a USB key.
hi,
i flashed last build and touch issue persists on A13 build
But i still stay on
Nice! Thanks a lot!
Very nice ROM, but it has some issues...
- file transfer in developer option doesn't stay how I want (no data transfer)
- doesn't matter what I want to install, I'm out of space... I must uninstall some apps "to free up space"... but I have enough... more than 90GB. I cannot install any of my apps. In rest...looks fine.

I faced similar issues on some TWRP builds and OrangeFox, storage, APK and Play Store related stuff. Since then I'm on 'TWRP-3.6.2-sweet-Nebrassy-13-09-22' and never faced such issue again. This one works perfect except for some Pulkit builds, where you need KewL version of TWRP.
Try twrp-3.7.0_12-0-sweet.img which can be downloaded here.
1) Recovery -> format -> reboot to Recovery (internal storage unreadable)
2) Recovery -> Install crDroidAndroid-13.0-20221108 (from sd card)
-> Install NikGapps-core-arm64-13-20220908-signed.zip
-> Reboot to System
3) Recovery -> Data decrypted
4) Backup/Restore of data in recovery seem to work too.
I find the rom nice, features rich and good/stable to use except mtp (file transfer) doesn't work. To access files in the internal storage, I have to boot to recovery.

Thank you for your explanation.
I followed the same way to install the rom this wednesday morning (see post 2 of this thread), using also the same twrp.
As workaround to the mtp tranfer problem (awaiting for a quick solution), I simply use a USB key instead of rebooting to twrp.
For having used crDroid 8 for a few months as daily driver, I'm now using crDroid 9 in the place in order to ensure continuity : same environment, same developer.

Thanks for this, but how can I acces the phone storage or sd card...? Nothing works! File transfer doesn't work, and that's a big problem!
I'm looking forward to flashing A13 once it's more stable. Also, it's the weekend and I don't want to spend the next few days looking at a recovery screen

Don't forget that we have the chance having a developer who makes a great work.
It's a first release of crDroid 9.
Before installing this rom, I installed various A13 roms.
None of them had the problem of MTP file transfer but other disadvantages like "No advanced restart", ...

Compared with A2, the A13 ROM of mi6x is very small. I can see this newly developed version, and I feel that my 6x can survive again. Thank you very much

Had your previous 19.1 build installed but tried flashing this one and it's giving me a liblp error about geometry magic signature being invalid
(Haven't flashed the super wipe zip yet because I wanted to know your opinion about my device type before doing that as mine isn't a oem Wayne model but rather a mi a2 converted into a Wayne model)

what about their same recovery under the v11 tag ? it's newer than v10.1
EDIT: flashed their v11 recovery and rebooted to fasboot for super-wipe zip flash, then flashed xiaomi firmware in recov, wiped data.cache.metadata tried flashing but still gave dynamic partition error so i just did a quick reboot to recov first to make sure and tried again and sure enough it flashed fine, about to reboot to OS now, gonna edit again if booted
EDIT2: booted, just gotta restart to recov to flash nikgapps

is there no way to remount as read-write (on my other phone i mount then do mount -o remount,rw /product or such to remount as read-write when needed) ? i don't want magisk on this phone because i'm setting it up to give to someone so i don't want to have it use gapps as a module, besides i don't think nikgapps supports installing as module

this is honestly getting overly complicated for just trying to set up a basic rom...
just tried flashin magisk but nada doesn't work gives error 127, i'm switching back to a rom that works
hi xiaole cant use gboard on this rom..
Working flawlessly with MicroG and some Magisk modules.
Im very happy with this rom.
cant use wifi, cant use gapps, cant start setup wizard even if the gapps package had setup in it. Camera not work, a lot of bugs for me.
MI 6X released in 2018, can use android 13 smoothly, and no lag, no heat, stable and no self-reboot, all functions look normal so far(The camera app will black out, use Opencamera instead). Very exciting ROM. Looking forward to seeing the double tap to wake feature in the next version.
I can't install MindTheGapps, help! On the Recovery console:
Code:
Low resource device detected, removing large extras
Not enough space for Gapps! Aborting
Cleaning up files
Unmounting partitions
ERROR: recovery: Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 1)
Install completed wtih status 1.
Installation aborted.
I have tried the following MindTheGapps:
MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20230408_162909.zip
MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20230323.zip
MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20221025_100653.zip
Then I tried NikGapps:
NikGapps-core-arm64-13-20230418-signed.zip
NikGapps-basic-arm64-13-20230418-signed.zip
But both gave errors:
Code:
...
Installing update...
ERROR: recovery: Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 1)
Install completed with status 1.
Installation aborted.
Please help, thank you!
i have problem :/
