Alarm doesn't sound through speakers with headphones plugged in - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

So I have this problem where I can't make the alarm sound through speakers when headphones are plugged in, but this only happens with all custom ROMs I tried, with MIUI it works fine and the alarm sounds through speakers. There are some alarm apps that claim to be able to work with speakers exclusively, but it just doesn't work for me. It is a shame because I don't like MIUI very much, but I'm kinda forced to use it because of this.
Is there any solution for this issue on custom ROMs, or is this a AOSP issue?

Hey there, same Problem here.
That was so important for me, that i bought and old Samsung S7 and ran it with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
I found out, that they removed this feature on Android 8 Oreo.
Now, i have to say that i am using this S7 with Lineage Android 7.1 (i switched days ago from Resurection Remix from 2018) BUT with the newest Security Updates and guess what, its not working anymore :-(
Another problem was fixed, but now i have to deal with that annyoing situation as on pie and Q.
Maybe a developer read this and can point me to a file that i have to change myself to bring that function back.
I dont get it..
Cheers

Update: for those who might be interested.
have still my S7, but now using a S10e. Very nice device! don't regret.
Running Lineage Android 11 and alarm is doing sound through speakers even headphones are plugged in, yay!! Finally!

Notifications when headphones are plugged in

Hi,
i have a problem with the notifications when headphones are plugged in. When i receive an email/message etc the headphones go quiet, i've always found this normal because my music is dimmed to let me hear the notification sound.
today i came to realise that the music is not actually dimmed. it actually stops output via headphones and uses the loudspeaker instead. this is probably annoying for other passengers on the tube.
anyway to change that so it stays on headphones? or do i have to wait for an update?
can others check if they have the same problem please?
thanks.

This horrible bug has impacted the stock firmware since the gs3 was released. CM sort of fixes it so it definitely isn't a hardware issue. I called Samsung to complain and they told me it was a feature. Funny, because all it ever does is cause problems. My HTC devices work fine with headphone notifications... Also you may notice that if you have your headphone connector plugged into your aux input in your car, AND Bluetooth hands free, that stock firmware will require you to unplug the cable while driving to hear the sound over Bluetooth. Another thing that HTC got right and Samsung failed on.
Samsung failed big time on this. I discovered this stupid bug when I had just received my S3 and had the headset plugged into it while working in the office. Every fcking time I got a message/email/notification the phone speaker would go off and after 4th time or so of the notification sound going off, colleagues at work got pissed and told me to shut the sound.
I had no idea why it did that, when I have the headphones plugged in I expect the phone to be completely silent. Apparently Samsung disagrees
Anyways, I found a fix and it's called SoundAbout, available in the playstore. You can set it up so ANY sound comes exclusively out of the headphones when they're plugged in. I ultimately switched to an AOSP rom because the app requires a service running in the background, which takes some ram. my i9300 was already at it's limits with free ram so this was a trade off, but with the i9305 this shouldn't be a problem at all.
Really don't understand why they don't fix or opt to make this a feature. Also, all the samsung based custom roms here also seem to incorporate that bug/"feature"

Alarm, ringtone, etc does not come through speaker when headphones plugged in

After I flashed Marshmallow NightOwl 20160711 rom, sound does not come through speaker anymore when I plug my headphones in. This pretty much made me sleep right to midnoon for several days. I even tried an app with an option to make alarm come through both headphones and speaker only to no avail. I guess the problem lies with android 6.0. Anyone here has an idea how to fix this?
Try reinstalling the rom

Audio hissing at low volumes

I’ve been using AOSP ROMs pretty much the whole time I’ve had this phone so I can’t remember how audio quality was on global stable.
About 2 months ago I got sick of audio static at low volumes, so I switched to xiaomi.eu. The problem remained, so I thought I’d wait for MIUI 10 but the problem is still there on the latest beta build.
I tried a bunch of fixes from XDA but none of them worked, so I’ve just been putting up with it. Apparently China MIUI has superior audio to Global, but I loaded the config file from the China ROM which didn’t work. And doesn’t xiaomi.eu use the China ROM anyway?
A bunch of old reviews say that the Mi 5 has crystal clear audio, so I really want to figure it out. I have tested it with a bunch of headphones and the issue is always there -- even using FLAC audio files.
Has anybody else had this problem and managed to fix it?
Edit: I should add, this is only through the 3.5mm headphone jack. The speaker sounds fine.
Using non MIUI roms I've found out that static/background noise is lower after turning every "audio improvement" off.
Other than that really can't help...

Yeah I noticed that too. But still, I couldn't never get it to sound very clear. Thanks for that though.

This mod has definitely given a new life to my Note 4, thanks for your hard work.
However, when I plug in the headphone, some sound is still coming from the earpiece, which is a bit annoying, hoping it would be fixed.

yes,pixel experience is working fine
My only complain with audio is that when I am on a WhatsApp call or FB messenger call if I put the call on speaker the persons at the other end complain that my voice is very low to the point that they have to put their phone to their ear in order to hear me.
If anyone has a solution I would much appreciate it.
I am not quite ready to root my phone since it is working so well on PIE.
I have the Indian variant with 6GB ram.
Sorry for the disturbance but apparently the case on my phone is blocking the microphone
