[HELP] LenovoZ5s screen freeze - Lenovo Z5 Pro (No GT) Q&A, Guides, Development

So my phone is always encountering an obnoxious bug where the screen will freeze and i will have to turn it off and on to work. Is there any guide that i can follow so i can fix my phone? The model is Lenovo L78071, Lenovo version is 10.5.205 ST and the Security patch level is on february 1, 2019. I don't know if that matters but yeah. I hope someone can help me with this.

Try custom ROM, much better

Possible to get later Android Security patch updates or is Z3c forever insecure?

I'm running SLiMM ROM 2.1 with April 2016 Security Patch level. A couple of questions:
1. Is there any way to update just the Security Patch level without flashing a new ROM?
2. Is there any other ROM with updated Security Patch level I can flash on a device with locked bootloader?
3. Is there any other ROM with updated Security Patch level I can flash on a device with unlocked bootloader?
4. What is the latest Security Patch level available for Z3c(locked or unlocked BL)?
4. What is the latest Security Patch level available for Z3c(locked or unlocked BL)?
On stock .291 the Security Patch is : 1 May 2016
Kernel vulnerabilities can easily be patched and flashed on a phone with unlocked bootloader. Other vulnerabilities living in the system won't be as easy to patch.
forever insecure.
z3 compact is definitely my last android phone, i was tired of this ****.
well that kinda sucks. I really like this phone and wanted to continue to use it as a daily driver, but if i cant get it up to date security wise im not sure i will. Hopefully the Paranoid Android project will release working ROM with up to date security patches(since Z3c seems to be pretty much abandoned by CM). The lack of security updates is a really big concern on Android. It's ridiculous that a consumer who is willing to flash his phone himself cant get updated security.

Personally, I don't care about security updates. That artificial drama created around all these flaws and insecurities that are present in Android are just ridiculous... It's probably one a quadrillion chance our devices will be attacked or anything will happen to them. Just use them like it should be used and nothing wrong will happen. I may over exaggerate the problem but telling you won't use your phone because of the security updates is like telling you can't leave your house because there are so many sick people around and you also may get sick. Just don't be so pedantic, really...

I am using android phones since 2009. I dont care about security updates too but no new updates mean no new features, thats why i am sick about these phones. for example, z3 compact didnt get the nougat update, so i will not be able to try multi window feature, which is very useful. Even an iphone 5 gets latest ios update and features, 2012 model phone, 4 years getting updates.
sec patch level on concept 3636 is 1st july 2016

That's because the iPhone hardware and software stays mostly the same each year. They don't make changes that are big enough to make the previous generation obsolete. So if you want to always run software with features that are 2 years behind the trends on hardware that is a year behind the trends, then go to the iPhone. But don't say you want the latest and greatest and then mention iPhone as the solution.
one year later and SONY forget about us..
The next phone will be from another company..

3. CarbonROM 5.1 with security level Nov 2017
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/cr-5-1-carbonrom-t3529766
Regarding number 3, there are some custom ROMs available, such as:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/orig-development/oreo-unofficial-omnirom-t3696536
The ROM mentioned in the link above contains security patches from Dec 2017. Look at the feature list (what's working and what not) before flashing.
Hope that helps

Nexus 6 no Android 7.1.1 update

Hello there, I had 6 months break from android but finally bought new Nexus 6 today. It was android 6.0.1 and then I updated it to 7.0 nbdx91x but as can I notice there is android 7.1.1 from 5 of january but my phone can't find any update ? It says that android 7.0 is up to date. Is this update only flashable ? Thanks for any help !
You can find both the full images and the OTA's posted by google (with instructions on how to flash them) here: https://developers.google.com/android/images
There is actually a February image. I recommend that you use the OTA method because it's very simple and won't destroy your data.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota#shamu - 7.1.1 (N6F26R)
Before you do this, be aware that both the 7.1.1 images have a bug, currently being worked on by Google and may(!) be corrected in the March security update. The bug leaves the bottom speaker active during loudspeaker phone calls, resulting in an echo on the other person's phone and making loudspeaker calls impossible. If you don't make loudspeaker calls, you should have no problem. Or you could wait for the March update and avoid the problem entirely.

Android One Or Costom Rom?

hey guys at present I'm using my a2 On Official Android One Rom With Bootloader unlock (camera2api) Enabled. Some Users Say that Android one rom is laggy And lot's of bugs. So I want You To suggest Me What Should I Do? Install A Costom rom On my device like (Pe or something else) Or Stay With Android One?
I recommend Pixel Experience CAF version. I'm currently using that since I got fed up with Android One updates. I have been on custom ROMs for quite some time actually. CAF version supports OTA so you don't have to flash it again with every update, camera2api is already enabled and there is a MIUI camera included, but you'll have to find a working GCam yourself though. I haven't actually experienced any bugs for now but people say there are few and those will be fixed in the next update.
Edit: Just to add a few reasons why I am against Android One since you wrote that some users reported issues with stock but not you yourself.
It all started with the September update(if I recall correctly, or maybe even earlier). The bug present in that update made the faster CPU cores lock up at maximum frequency if the fingerprint sensor is used which drained battery really quickly. It took them like 1-2 months to fix that one. Then came Pie update, a lot of stuff stopped working. The storage for some reason got really slow and clearing large app cache(especially Chrome cache) would freeze the device or even make it reboot. This is the issue they STILL haven't fixed.
With January 2019 update a lot of devices went into bootlops and got bricked. February update changed contrast of the display and made everything really bright, definitely brighter than it should have been. Now they fixed that issue in March update BUT the update bootloped/bricked some more devices again so they pulled it. Their updates have really become a joke, which is why I'm all for custom ROMs. Definitely more stable than stock.

If you are flashing Pixel Experience you don't need to flash GApps, the rest is the same from the guide.
Thnq brthr :good:

Help.. It's my first phone with a/b partition

Hello. First I'd like to get the facts straight.. I've never updated my phone and by this I mean my A2 is running factory image of Oreo 8.1 with September 2018 securty patch.. The reason why I never updated is simply because it was running fine and so no need to update and battery life is outstanding with 9hour Sot on average usage. But now I get occasional lags in Chrome after updating apps from play store.. I saw lags in android 10 official update as well in my friend's A2. So, I want to move to custom rom to fix lags and move away from too much Google dependency.. But since this is my first time flashing a/b device.. Can anybody give me the detailed step by step process of how to flash as I don't want to ruin it and spent extra time fixing it. I get very little time outside of office.. Also, just in case I don't like it, can't I go back to stock rom version of oreo and not android 10? I'd like to thank everybody in advance who would like to help me out.. Thank you very much.. btw I'm aware of flasing, twrp and stuff as I used to flash in redmi note 3 and 7 pro and other devices but new to a/b

One UI 3 Beta - December Patch

Hi all,
I'm currently trying to acquire the One UI 3 beta for my SM-G973F but I recently updated to the December patch. Is there a way at all to downgrade to the November patch without losing data?
Thank you.
I think if you downgrade it wipes your phone.
I know that you can go back using smart switch and that definitely does wipe the phone. If you take a look at this thread, it seems possible to downgrade without harming data: https://www.droidwin.com/downgrade-samsung-android-11-to-10-oneui-3-oneui-2/
