Huawei P40 Pro eRecovery offer EMUI 11 - Huawei P40 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

My previous build was ELS-N29 10.1.0.176(C432E8R6P1) and no EMUI 11 for me through regular channels (Settings/System & updates and Support App), so i decided test update through eRecovery and voilá, now I have EMUI 11 build 11.0.0.151(C432E3R6P4)
I followed these steps:
1. Boot into Recovery, USB cable connected to the device and to the PC/Charger, with device switched off press VOL+ and Power ON, maintain both pressed till you see the Recovery, then select "Update mode".
2. Select "eRecovery mode".
3. Select "Update and recover system"
4. Select "Download update and recover"
5. "Enabling Wi-Fi..."
6. "Connecting to Wi-Fi network..." select yours, add password and select "Connect"
7. If the "Downloading Package..." is EMUI 11, wait till the all process ends, in case is not, then you can cancel and restart the device.
Enjoy!!
Notes:
- Takes a little bit longer "verifying package..."
- During update you'll see "Recovering system", Do not remove the battery or storage device. !!!
- Data partition won't be wiped.
- If your are not happy with EMUI 11, because you still with Android 10, not 11 as I have expected, HiSuite_11.0.0.500_OVE offer a rollback to EMUI 10.1.0, in my case for ELS-N29 10.1.0.176(C432E8R6P1), BUT this time the data partition will be wiped.
* ATTENTION: YOU are choosing to install this firmware at your own risk.
* I do not take responsibility for any problems with your device.

@cmoss9946, @mynameisalvaro
Your firmware is customized for one service provider?
Your devices have only one SIM active because they are locked by firmware?
So, they decided disable this feature to maintained the contract, if not this FW would set you free, i think!!!

Nope, I got the firmware from firmware finder, only one SIM because of the tray, this is a different model than the international one that has dual SIM. Its just there is no emui 11 yet for our specific model I belive.

Not really , it's probably because we have different phone versions than the european, my version is the one for America so no Emui 11 yet

Right.
EMUI 11 does not come for all areas at the same time. And not for all models.
In time, it will come for everyone ... probably (for the announced models)

The steps worked for me. I have the international version which is dual sim (ELS-NX9).

[Q] 4G

Well, hey guys. I don't know if this is a problem or not. But when I enable the 4G on my Ascend P7 it works good. But then suddenly it doesn't anymore. The weirdest thing is that the 4G icon is on the top, but just doesn't recieve any data. So I have to reenable the 4G again. Otherwise it doesn't work. I wanted to know if it is my 4G operator problem, or it is related to system? I'm running that B609 Firmware. EMUI 3.0 Thanks in advance.
I don't know...i nave no problems with 4G. Try to contact your telephone company.

Did you manually upgrade to Emui 3.0 or you received OTA? Go to settings ->about phone->certification and click on it. It will tell you for which country your phone is. This way you'll now if you have the right update on your phone. B609 is Europe General, there are two other updates for Europe, one is provider specific (Italy - B613) and the other is for Russian locale (B615). Check Huawei support for other regions update.

[Q] Can't access internet thru mobile data (3G SIM)
Hi , I am from India
Recently one of my friend gifted me a Huawei Ascend P7 from Oman.
I've tried to use internet via my 3G SIM Card (using Mobile Data ),but I was unable to get the same .
I am using a 64K SIM card . when I am inserting the SIM card there is a message coming ''The inserted SIM cannot support 4G network''. but still I can make phone call SMS and I can acces internet though wi-fi,its perfect. I'd visited 4 service providers ,but none of them can't resolve the issue.
dear techies ...please help me to solve this issue and enjoy the features of this device.

Firmware version / update help

So Feeling a bit thick atm.
I just bought 2 of these from Carphone Warehouse in UK yesterday for my kids birthday. They are both Sim Free unlocked, one is blue and one is black
However they are both on different firmwares ... the Blue one is on B179 and the Black one is on B115 ... also looks like the colour temperature defaults are different on the different phones.
Checking for updates reveals there are none available for either of them. If I understand this forum correctly I shouldn't expect to see any OTA updates being available since the only ones available in the UK are the ones for the Vodaphone locked versions ... is that correct ?
Am I right in saying I should be able to install the Firmware finder, select the B179 build, run the check with imei, start in app proxy, configure the proxy settings in the wifi and then follow the normal OTA update process from B115 to B179 ?
The reason I ask is because I tried these steps this morning and it failed with a checksum error. Did I do something wrong ?
Or would it be simpler to go back to Carphone Warehouse and ask for a new device ?
Managed to get it to go further trying B125 but I stopped watching and when I came back it had rebooted and was still running B115.
Talking to myself here ... finally got them both updated with a B191 build.

I would appreciate it too.
I don't think I did anything special that isn't documented else where on this forum, the trick was finding a firmware that worked.
But for reference :
* Install Firmware Finder on each phone went to settings and enabled the "Show Packages for current region" and "use simple firmware list".
* Go down the list of firmwares checking the availability with IMEI. (I only tried the ones that said FullOTA-MF and I believe the one I got to work was the on that was 105838 but I'm not 100% sure on that)
* Find one that that says "Firmware approved for installation models for installation: PRA-LX1C432B191" NB there were a couple that said PRA-L31-hw-euRA-LX1C432Bxxx as well but the B125 version I tried said that and failed to install.
* Press the in app proxy button
* Goto phones wifi settings, long press the network you are connected to and modify the settings -> set proxy to localhost port 8080.
* Go to the phones settings -> update firmware page and update as normal.
Extra credit step :
* Once the download has started hit pause then go back to your network settings remove the proxy and then resume the update download. (this was due to reports I'd seen of troubles downloading via the proxy and one attempt I'd made that ended in failure due to a checksum error which is basically a download fail)

SInce the install I have been in a LTE, 3g, roaming, no service random loop. Wifi works fine thankfully.
I have checked for further updates, toggled airplane more back and forth multiple times.
Also checked for PRL and Profile updates with no luck.
Carrier is Sprint. Any other suggestions from the community?

There is no "Pie bootloader." Samsung has not yet updated the bootloader version. The leaked Pie builds and the official Pie beta is still on bootloader v5, so you can easily downgrade back to Oreo. Now. Once Pie is officially released, they will likely upgrade the bootloader.

The N950U1 is 100% compatible with Sprint. It supports all the Sprint bands. Sounds like maybe an APN issue. You should check those settings to make sure they are correct. A factory reset may also fix it.

Windows 10 is a yes...unsure if its a USB3 port. I have tried every port on the PC and 2 different USB cables. It does show added. It allows me to add the 4 files. Once I click start, it usually errors out within seconds with an error such as SW REV Fail then has I believe device # and a binary # on the error code. I can get this tonight if needed.
I did a factory reset last night, was a no go.
Can you recommend a legit location for accurate APN info?

As far as a source for the APN. I would just google Sprint APN settings. It may even be on Sprint's website, or you can call Sprint CS.
For your ODIN failure. That's an easy fix for that error code. You are trying to downgrade to an Oreo build that is TOO old. It has to be a newer Oreo build with bootloader v5. Just download the SamFirm tool (Google is your friend) and use it to download the most recent Sprint firmware. For model use SM-N950U and for Region I believe it's either XAS or SPR. I can't remember. Then flash it with ODIN.
But the Pie beta SHOULD work with Sprint. There's something else going on there.

If you do not know if you are using a 3.0/3.1 USB port, you should refrain from doing such technical activities. You break your device and now it's up to the good folks here to spoon feed you a fix. Very irritating. I'm going with you are not using the official Odin to flash stock firmware. Do not use the patched Odin for anything except flashing Pie build. Sigh. Pull your SIM Card and reinsert. Should fix network issues.

Love the condensing tone, really helps make your point. Ive had little problem in the past flashing. This one had me stumped. As to the usb port, it's my wife's laptop, so I wasn't paying attention. Seeing as the guide that is posted here made no mention of usb type or windows version, I assumed there was no issue as long as Odin saw and added the phone. I am using official Odin, thanks. I pulled the sim already, no change.

I would advise that you wait for the OTA update to be release for your device and install that. As installing the unlock stock Samsung OS could have adverse effects on your Branded device.

Download firmware to PC
Use Winrar for example to unzip the firmware to its component files.
Download latest version of Odin (13.3.1
I think)
Put your phone in download mode connect to pc with usb cable (make sure you have Samsung USB drivers on your PC first)
Run Odin
Load files you unzipped BL, AP etc into Odin
When you get to CSC choose home CSC to retain your apps and data
Press start on Odin and wait five to ten minutes approximately.
Note 9 should reboot to new version when installation is completed (Odin will show passed)

thats software. Samsung apparently got fed up with the complaints stemming from having devices going out into the general public that are completely incompatible with service providers other than the ones they were originally intended for. Back in the S3 days the sprint one had the sim card embedded in the device behind the plastic cover of the internals. I have one of those S3's along with a VZW one that i un-hardbricked back in the days when a jig bringing the phone back to life after a "hardbrick" was mind blowing. Many hardbricks were caused by people trying to to make it able to be on other carriers since this time was also when the advent of MVNOs occurred. The history of the iterations of samsungs phones really spell it out. Many of us were surprised that it took them so long to do this. The S8 was the first Galaxy phone to have identical internals for all US models, the notes followed suit shortly thereafter

There are no updates availble when using hisuite- that is the issue. I've tried all different versions of hisuite and nothing pulls the update. In the firmfinder tool there is an EMUI 10 update for the C636 region but it never gets offered. There seems to be no EMUI 12 update for that region code yet, either.
