Question No "Nearby Share" feature from Google on my phone with Chinese ROM? - Xiaomi Mi 11

Hi All,
I can't seem to find Google's "Nearby Share" feature on my new Mi 11. I've got all the Google Play services installed and have bluetooth and location services active. Am I missing something?

Ok. Good to know it's possible. I notice your text is in German. Did you flash a different ROM? Did you have to do anything special to see the option?
I have the Chinese ROM but not sure this should matter. My Play services seem fine and I had location services and bluetooth enabled. Just doesn't show up in my options. Not even in the pulldown notification shade as a quick option either.
Is it still a Play Services Beta feature or should it be in Android 11?

Yes, my system language is german because I've flashed xiaomi.eu.
I no longer know whether there was a nearby share in the China ROM. Most of the time until unlock it was turned off in the closet.

[Q] Question about Google now on 4.1.2

I'm running Android 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Note. How come I do not have Google now cards? My Google now seems to work but I am seem to get a simple page result and going over the settings, I do not see any options for Google cards, etc. Is this because I'm running a lower version of android?
You need to go to settings and enable search history.

Thats it? It's in the "Google settings" right? I just did - there seems to be no change.

I think Nokiamodeln91 means the setting of Google account in the global whole Settings.
For me, Google Now is too slow when using my 3G network, only possible wth wifi.

Thanks for clearing that up. Just changed some of the global settings of my Google account. Should the effect be instant or would it take several days?

The time I get your question you already have the answer, do you ?
Anyway for me it should take about few minutes. How about your situation ?
The cards will be appear when you're moving, the Wheater, the traking from your house to your work, Places close to you, etc. Just go to Google settings and enable Google Now (if not), then touch it and enable every Card. Working fine for me, (XXLT5 April 2)

[Q] Can't find "about" in settings

I am sure I am missing the obvious. Came from a Samsung phone. I'm trying to find the location of "Settings>about" to see my software version. I touch the little wheel "settings". But from there there is no "about" to touch.
TIA
The very last option at the bottom??
That's where I thought it would be... It's not there I simply cannot find the "about" in settings.

Nope straight out of the box.
Google settings

Connected apps
Data management
Google Fit
Location
Play Games
Search & Now
Security
Then nothing after that.

Google Assistant working?

Hi,
Running on epic pro rom, latest instalment. Everything stable so far. But I can't get GA working properly. I'm on Google app beta, play services beta, cache cleared, English language.
The settings in Google app even look like it's installed. But I can't open it with "ok, google" (voice trained ok) and when I long press home nothing happens...
Anybody got it running?
Thx

Only got it working with xposed and GA module. Trying lineage OS it works but not from locked phone.
Just to be clear. With xposed and assistant enabler module you got it working from screen off? Cause I tried the said module in the mentioned ROM and it ain't working at all...

using xposed assistant enabler, i didn't make it work from screen-off without charger plugged in. tried several times, since the guide to enable it is tricky.
I am pretty sure it is a limitation of the chipset.
I had this same problem. I scratched my head after looking at the logs. The reason why it doesn't work is because the GMS (and other?) Google APKs were located on /data and not /System.
Move it to /system and it should work.

Can't remember properly what I did but definitely worked, MIUI tweak I think is also needed so you can properly add trusted voice.

Working for me on the global rom from screen on. Go to the google app, settings, voice, "ok google" detection. Train it, if you havent, and enable the top two options (the third will then be enabled by default). Then, never open that section again. The next time you open it, it will switch back off - but it should be working if you enable the options then exit the google app. Works for me, even survives a reboot.

Google assistant Hey Google command?

Hey guys, anyone manage to get google assistant listening in the background? Or even to activate on button press?
I have been trying to get the OK, Google command to work but despite installing both Google Assistant and Google apps it is not listening at all.
Even the supposed shortcut buttons can't really be used since I use navigation gestures so there is no Home button etc available to press to activate in MIUI.
The only way is to open the Google app (Assistant or Now, and press the voice keyboard button) which is sooo convoluted when voice commands are nice and quick, like play next track etc.
Managed to train the Google Voice assistant but Voice Match can not be turned on, I think this is the problem. I am on a Chinese K20 Pro with Chinese stock ROM, but debloated.
Anyone come up with a solution/workaround?
The problem is related to the Chinese firmware, that seems to somehow interfere with Voice Match and renders it unusable.
This issue is present in all roms based on China firmware. The only one, as far as I know, that managed to get OK Google to work is latest unofficial Lineage OS.
There is a setting in miui to set Google assistant to work by holding the power button. That could work, though I've tried roms where even that was broken.
Now if you're using a custom launcher, such as nova or lawnchair, you can set a gesture to open Google assistant, such as double tap.
What I have dome though, is this. Since I'm using fluid navigation to get the nav gestures on pixel experience, I set it up so I can swipe and hold from the left bottom side of the screen and get Google assistant to show up.
I can still go to recents exactly like in miui, by swiping up and holding from middle bottom.
Thanks for confirming this, I thought it was my debloating that killed it, good to know this is a compatibility issue with chinese ROM.
I will look at doing workaround like you. Thanks.

Hi guys!
I resolved this issue this way:
Smartphones whithout Google Assistente
Open the Google app (G colored);
Click in the "Menu" and after "Configurations"
Choose the "Voice" options e after "Voice Match";
Active ou deactive the option "Say OK Google" at any moment;
This worked for me using a Xiaomi Mi 9t pro.
Regards from Brazil!

Doesn't work for me, I am on a Chinese unit K20 Pro with Chinese Rom.
There is no option for activating Say OK Google at any moment.
Might wait for India ROM with MiUI 11 and try again.

Question Issues after Enhanced update

So I installed 12.5 Enchanced on my China Ultra and now I don't receive notifications from WhatsApp and Gmail at least...
Any way to fix it?
Try wipeing cache and data for Google play services and reinstall the apps

tried it but didnt help
Then try to set app autostart for the apps you need prompt notifications, also you can check in the option for notification priority and set that to "notification". If that doesn't help you might need to activate developer option and search for notification priority and deactivate or activate what's set. See if that help
Already did all of those. MIUI is just killing those apps and I don't get notifications. Not a notification bug. Background apps issue...
For example Messenger have same settings and everything is ok!
Honestly I can't do much more, I have no idea then, sorry about that
I am also on CN Enhanced firmware and found the same issue with WhatsApp and Gmail only. I finally managed to fix it by doing this - Battery, Settings, Scenarios, Sleep Mode OFF. Mine was toggled on. Otherwise try the notification priority for Whatsapp, Gmail and all Google applications including system ones, set to important. Something to do with apps running through Google services on CN version I suspect. Hope this works for you. I had the same problem with Mi 10 Pro once updating to MIUI 12.5. The most irritating problem ever.
I would suggest you go to the App Battery Saver option and exclude them from the app battery saver option.
That might work.
CN options on most phones kill all notifications except Chinese apps. That's why I don't really use the Chinese market Android OS.

Anyone using the Chinese ROM outside china needs their head examined imo....
Endless complaints of stuff not working for months now....
Out of curiosity, what are the advantages of using the CN OS rather than the EU OS?

The Chines rom is not usable for most in the west, due to its quirks and lack of Google services. It's really a simple fix, it's called unloack the bootloader and flash another rom. I don't understand what everyone is whining about, after all, it's not rocket science.

Not the OS only. CN Rom get regular updates, although as i read it improves some thing and breaks others. But apart from that right now you can get the chinese 12/256 variant for 950$ roughly. In the UK the price is 1199 pounds - around 1630$. That's a big difference.

It is always possible with a Xiaomi device to unlock your bootloader and flash an alternative rom, such the Xiaomi.eu rom, which has all the upgraded features of the China rom, combined with Google services that is in the global rom.
same... WA notification delayed..
now i just off the miui optimisation... i shall see.
ok... WA still DC when using WA WEB... so problem still remains. so i guess no fix for this.
any news for this problem?
