Question Samsung Write on PDF app - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Long time Note user coming to the S21 Ultra. I tried to download the Samsung Write on PDF app from apkmirror since I guess it only comes preinstalled with Note devices. It installs fine but crashes any time intry to open a PDF. Has anyone tried this app?
I know there are lots of other apps to manipulate PDFs, and I use them, so I am not interested in alternative suggestions.

I think the recent releases of Samsung Notes negated Write on PDF.
Doesn't work on my S21 Ultra, Note20 Ultra or my Tab S7+

I write on Pdf with Samsung Note.
Its very Simple and useful.
I think it's what u mean.

Correct, recently Samsung added PDF support as well as writing on PDF's to the Samsung Notes app.
EzEddie was asking about their older Write On PDF app, which seems to have stopped being supported, possibly due to the updated Notes app.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I noticed Samsung Notes can edit and write on PDFs now. Guess that is what will be needed. I much prefer the interface and simplicity of the actual "Write on PDF" app though. If Samsung keeps that app maybe a new update will add compatibility.

[Q] App to take notes & save/export to pdf?

Hello guys,
My gf is using the note, and in the office she has found it rather useful for taking notes on the go during a meeting, using the app included from Samsung. She can rapidly take the phone, snap a picture (of the product being presented in the meeting), then either write some annotations with the pen or using swype (the pen is also cool, as she can make arrows or lines to sketch up some ideas). But the problem with the samsung app: It can only save as JPEG. Also, once the note is saved, it cannot be edited anymore (or doesn't look like, at least you can't move around the pictures she snapped...you'd need to create a new note and reimport the picture or something).
Is there any app to save to PDF? We tried Evernote, but it's a pain in the ass (upload, then sync from PC app, print, use pdfcreator). Onenote for android doesn't seem to have any export options. What do you guys think?
Thank you!
There is a Adobe PDF Creator app. Its not free though, but could be a solution?

getting a pdf-reader work on my gear

Hi!
I'm not really a technic geek, so for me its not easy to root my galaxy gear
But I want to have a pdf-reader on the gear. Whats the simplest way to install it and what for a reader should i take?
Anyone tested it yet?
Thank you guys
Check the threads for how to sideload apps using overshares. It's very simple
Remember the screen is tiny, can't imagine being able see much of a pdf

I'm running Null rom and have Office suite pro and quickoffice installed. They actually work better than one might think. As far as reading them, you'll have to do some zooming. Just like my kindle app I loaded on my Gear - which may sound ridiculous, but actually it works better than one would expect. Not hard to read, just more swiping to change pages obviously. So it's doable and not as cumbersome to use a PDF reader or office app on the Gear. Now the fact that it doesn't have a WIFI radio really is what makes many apps not very useable as you have to BT tether for internet and that is slow and eats battery.
LOL, I installed kindle myself just to see if it would Work.
I think I Used it for 10 Minutes before deciding it was totally worthless and uninstalling it.
I can't even imagine trying to read a PDF on the gear (or why you would want to)

Each to their own. I would not read Kindle books on the gear often, but on a plane or in certain situations it's fine. As far as PDF - I do all my payroll (about 25 employee's) on my TF300 or Note 3 via an excel sheet I made. I loaded the excell sheet with office suite pro and save each bi-weekly payroll so that I have it readily available. The excel sheet figures payroll for me as I plug in hours for each employee, etc. Anyway, I actually loaded that payroll excel sheet onto my gear and I could use it in a pinch. But yes, you had to zoom - a lot - and it was cumbersome. Point for me was more "can I" than "will I" much, or at all. I got the Gear as an Xmas gift, didn't ask for it, so for me it's a fun gadget that I enjoy pushing the limits of the device. :good:
Hello,
I didn't manage to upload my PDFs to Gear.
I've searched for similar topics on this site, but I didn't find relevant posts.

Samsung Notes sync to a Windows App?

Desired outcome: I want to be able to sit in meetings, taking notes on my phone, but then access them on my PC by whatever means possible.
Is there a way to sync the notes taken on my device with Samsung Notes with any windows app?
I have tried the S Note app in the windows app store. Doesn't work. And sucks big time even if it did.
OneNote maybe? Evernote? Or maybe Samsung has a surprise and it syncs with its own Samsung Notes windows app (if it existed).
S Note could sync to Evernote. I really miss that.
OneNote (the Android app) syncs fine (to OneNote, the desktop app), but I don't see a way to go straight to creating a new note in it from the S Pen shortcut menu. You can create a badge that does it; it floats on your display (similar to the S Pen floating icon), but it doesn't seem to integrate into the S Pen workflow.

S Note (NOT Samsung Note) still does it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.snote&hl=en
So is there any way to get my current Samsung Notes over to SNote (or even Onenote)?
I can switch over but my old notes are still in Samsung Notes
I got to this old thread looking for something similar.
There is a windows 10 Samsung Notes APP.
What does not work for me is the freaking AUTOMATIC sync... i have to manually go into the options menu and hit sync both on the phone and on PC... kinda bad.
I can't install the app on my surface pro, says not compatible!
I primarily use Onenote on the desktop, but Samsung notes is a better app on the note 8.
If there are issues with finding a Windows app then try using Samsung DEX it turns your phone into a desktop.
That's like using a digger to crack a nut.
I think I'm just going to review my Workflow, treat the phone as more of a note pad and review my notes onto the desktop.

Me too.
Anyone knows a workaround to install Samsung Notes on a Surface Pro?
I wish to get "samsung notes" to work on my surface pro also
I have Samsung notes on my Note 8 and the Samsung Notes Windows 10 app on my Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. Works perfect and notes are synchronized back and forth.
Should work the same on Surface Pro.
Unfortunately, here's what I get on my HP desktop (Win 10 x64 latest build):
"This app is not compatible with this device."

Nope, Samsung Notes is not compatible with the Surface line for whatever reason.

I checked again Friday and it would install on my Surface Pro 4. The issue was it wouldn't sync with the SNote app on my Note 8.
I installed the SNote app on my Surface Pro 4 and also on my Note 8 and managed to get a first sync. It really is crap and I'm sticking with OneNote even though you can't use quick notes just by taking the pen out. The sync seems to take so long and sometimes there is a syn option in the Windows 10 menu and sometimes pressing the button asks if you want to deleted the account. I changed a note on my Surface and then opened the same note on my Note and no changes were made.

I think you're confusing 'S Note' and 'Samsung Notes'. They're two completely different apps.
Samsung Notes seems to be only compatible with S-Pen devices. So that's only Samsung devices then, I guess.
S Note is a different story and works on all PCs, but it's different from Samsung Notes and they don't share the same database, unfortunately.

Nope, look in the app store on either Android or Windows and you will find S Note that can install on any Android. Samsung Notes is what comes stock on all Samsung devices.

Sorry, I think you missed my main point. First, I don't know if Samsung Notes comes preinstalled on all Samsung devices. But Samsung Notes doesn't install on devices without S-Pen, which includes Microsoft's Surface Books. S Note is the old app, that is slowly being replaced by Samsung Notes. S Note does install on probably all devices, and doesn't require the S-Pen.
And this is the unfortunate part: you can't share data from Samsung Notes to PC, if you don't have a PC that is able to run Samsung Notes. Furthermore, Samsung Notes doesn't sync to Evernote as well. And that is annoying, because Samsung Notes is (among other things) the default app for "Screen Off Memo" and in general will become the default app for everything.
So: people would prefer to continue using S Note, but they're pushed towards Samsung Notes, which doesn't meet their needs.

[App] App(s) to Write on PDF's and JPEG's

I bought the Note 8 hoping that I could utilize the S Pen to be a little more product with some things I do at work. (There are many other reasons, but this is one I am trying to look into further). I work in construction and am hoping to find the ability to write on PDF's and JPEG's that I have taken. It is often easier to circle something and write a note than it is to try to explain where/what/etc. over the phone to someone. It would also be useful to remind me of what I am thinking at the time of seeing something.
Does anyone know of a good app that will let me take notes with the S Pen on PDF's or JPEG's before saving as a new file (not overwriting)? Sorry, my first Note so I am a little lost. The Air Command tool "Screen Write" is close but I would prefer to write on the file and not a screenshot of the item. Thanks for any help.
For photos you can use the draw button at the bottom while viewing it in the gallery. It will save as a new file.
For pdf adobe will work. Its in the settings at the bottom to let you write on thr pdf

Thanks, don't know how I missed the Draw button in the gallery. That pretty much solves half the problem. Just gotta find that pdf writing program. Samsung makes one called "Write on PDF" but for some reason it is not available on the Note 8?
Write On PDF should come with the phone, or needs to be downloaded in the Galaxy Apps store. It took me a while to find it, but just go into Settings, Apps, Default Apps and change it to "ask before setting default apps."

Hmm that was weird. "Write on PDF" isn't listed as an app in my drawer but was under setting -> apps like you mentioned. Once I was able to open a pdf using "open with" in Root Explorer, there was a setting to show the app on your home screen. Still not available in the drawer though...?

Yes, but it kinda sucks. Haha. I couldn't even get an eraser tool! Felt clunky.. I'll try again.
Also, you can't zoom in very far in Write on PDF which makes it hard for 24x36 and 36x48 size construction drawings.
Squid!
It's the best imho!
Used to be called papyrus.
You can import images and pdfs as a note and write and sign away!

Thanks. I need to look into this some more. It sounds like my choices are paying $4.99 for the ability to import and write on PDF's (would probably pay $2.99 for the Tool Pack as well) or pay $10/yr for full features.
What are other people doing?

I wouldn't use the comment feature in Adobe to sign documents. There will be plenty of people out there that don't print documents with comments enabled, and they are not enabled by default.
So, you might sign something that needs to be printed out on the other end, they bring the printout to a meeting or mail it somewhere without checking, and suddenly you're missing a deadline because the signed form was never received.
Almost happened to me on a condo closing.
I pay $6 yearly for squid so I can import PDFs, well worth it considering how well made it is. I use it for visual brainstorming too, you can zoom in and out easy with fingers. Always supported s-pen nicely.
FYI: Squid seems to be working really well for me on pdf's. I wish I had the different pen options like the calligraphy but I am truthfully doing fine without all the options. I bought the option to import pdf's for $4.99 and the extra tools for $2.99. Although $2 more than the discounted $6/year trial, I like that I will have them forever. I don't need the cloud storage options or any additional note page options (log scales, music charts, etc. )
Would highly recommend for someone working with PDF's who just needs something to function well for work. $8 is no big deal when you are talking about making your job easier every day or week.

I use an app called xodo....I love this app
I use lecturenotes. Very powerful and versatile. You can import multi-page pdfs, write on them on separate layers, and export them again as pdfs with all the layers merged together. Excellent app.

Accessing Notes on PC

Hi Community,
does anyone have a idea how to access my notes taken with the notes app on my PC? I have setup syncing with my Samsung account but cannot find a web application. The Win10 notes app in the MS store is not compatible with my Dell. Ideas?
Thanks much
You can in a limited way, by sharing them as PDF.
I installed s-note and enabled sharing with evernote. That way I can use my webbased or pc based evernote app to access my apps on all my computers. I went back and forth with other apps and found this to be the easiest way. I also have a surface book with which I take notes and tried onenote for a while, but came back to evernote.
Google Keep would probably be the easiest solution. DL notebuddy and set it to auto-launch keep instead of stock app. I've been very satisfied with this setup.

I find onenote to be very good for syncing between different devices (i have a laptop, an android tablet and the note 8, not to mention guest login to various other devices), it seamlessly syncs so no need to be messing around with exporting and importing data, it's free and the PC version can OCR your scribbles too. Its free (even the desktop version which is miles better than the metro version), only downside is you need a live account.

I use OneNote for now but really like the Samsung Note app in terms of features. I often run I to situations where I accidentally touch the screen with my palm and OneNote is very sensitive to that. I end up in looking where I was noting things down. It's a distraction since I take a lot of notes during meetings. Samsung notes also let's me easily rearrange parts of my notes. I always keep action items on top so I see what still needs to be done in the notes overview screen. They expand while I add items and my notes move down along with that. It's the little things I guess.

I always find the palm rejection quite good, but you are right the composition and inking ability on the android version is frustrating, i just wished they would bring the android version closer in line with the desktop version (which does want your asking plus more), ultimately i end up cleaning up my notes on the PC version.
My workaround for the time being to use SideSync and access my Samsung notes via PC and a USB cable. A little cumbersome in setup but I can write directly into Samsung Notes. I just wish there would be clipboard sharing between my PC and the SideSync app.

HI, I am a fan of google keep, however, it has become so unstable that it crashes on all my devices in the middle of my work, only on my tablet works better, it too crashes but less frequently. I have tried all forums, could not find the answer except for rolling back, then I have stop autoupdate for all apps :crying:
Hi anyone still looking to do this
I've just found that Samsung Notes in the Windows Store works now
Finally I'm a happy man this was driving me nuts, no idea why it took them so long to sort it

I have the same problem. It says Samsung notes for Win 10 and available on PC (among others). My build is much later than the minimum required - I have green ticks against all the requirements. Then it says "Not compatible with my device"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope someone who built the thing sees this and puts it right!

I think it might just be meant for samsung laptops ???
Edit : I just tried on my old acer and voila it installs... Holy sh*t
Edit: Oops got it wrong.. It was S note and not samsung notes... Samsung notes need Arm architecture... Most of the pc's are intel based.
Samsung Notes does not need ARM, as it works perfectly on my Notebook 9 Pro, which has Intel processor...

I was looking at the requirement for the app in Microsoft store and for Samsung Notes it says ARM only...
S Note on the other hand needs x86 or x64
Are sure it is Samsung note and not s note?
Edit : it may be that it is a Samsung laptop... So I guess they can bypass the requirement
