Redmi K20 pro, Locked No Compatible OS - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

After wiping the system partition when trying to make something work, I got stuck in fastboot mode with no os. I followed the advice given here but I think I flashed an incompatible os, and now my phone is locked, and when I try to boot it it tries to boot into miui then goes into recovery and says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device." Nither miflash nor miunlock can do anything. Any ideas on how I can fix it?

The Phone got locked when I flsahed the wrong rom with the miflash tool, and forgot to change it to clean all. Now I cannot flash a rom as the bootloader is locked.

It doesn't matter whether the bootloader is locked or not with miflash. Give it a go with the correct rom.
As long as it's an official rom.

I tried, it says: error:FAILED (remote: Erase is not allowed in locked state) for clean all and clean all and lock.
For save user data it says: error:"Erase boot error"

Was there a way to flash without erasing, I cannot remember. But it sounds like you need to flash a rom version comparable to the current one (without wiping), boot, unlock bootloader.

yes the phone is in fastboot mode, and I cant back to normal mode for regular use.
I tried to unlock again like you said it the program said the device is already unlocked.
Have you tried the first option, wipe data?
Don't panick, since you have fastboot mode it's not bricked. Let's start by booting into TWRP.
Download TWRP and put it in the same directory with your FASTBOOT.exe file.
Open a windows dos prompt and get to the same directory as your FASTBOOT file.
Reboot your phone into FASTBOOT mode.
in your DOS prompt type "Fastboot boot yourrecoveryfilename.img" (change the yourrecoveryfilename.img to the TWRP recovery image file you downloaded)
your phone should reboot into TWRP if there wasn't an error. TWRP won't be permanent (if you reboot out of TWRP it won't retain it), but will allow you to flash ROM.
I've only ever flashed all my ROMs through TWRP, never used anything else since i unlocked the phone.
Let me know how this goes.

Hello all.
Big screw up, I think. So I've had my MI 8 for a while now, no issues, until today I decided to install official lineage on it. The bootloader was unlocked. I flashed TWRP, but every time I rebooted the phone, it would go back to stock recovery, not TWRP. So here the issue started:
- Via Mi flash tool, I reflashed global MIUI 10 back to stock. I didn't realize I had relocked the bootloader...
- I tried reflashing TWRP without realizing I had relocked the bootloader.
- Thinking that the TWRP flash was done incorrectly again, I simply wanted to go back to stock, and attempted to use the mi flash tool to reflash, once again, the global stock MIUI 10. the flash tool said it was a success. (I still didn't realize I was on a locked bootloader)
- I am now on a bootloop. I can't get past the stock recovery screen, but I can go into fastboot. The recovery screen has a warning that the ROM cannot be used on the phone.
- I tried re unlocking the bootloader with the unlock tool, but because my Mi account credentials are not input on the phone (the phone was wiped clean), I cannot re unlock it.
What can I do? How can I get out of the bootloop, and hopefully re unlock and flash global rom clean again?

I finally got around fixing this. It turns out my phone was China, with Global ROM. So I did an EDL test point method and paid someone with an authorized account to access my laptop remotely to Flash the latest China ROM. I waited the required period for bootloader unlocking, and it's back alive!
I'm running official lineage 16, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm Using it as a daily driver instead of my all stock pixel 2 XL. No issues.

That's great news! It sucks that you were tricked into thinking your that phone is a global version. But at least you able to get things permanently sorted.

How do I relock the bootloader and go stock?

Hi XDA.
I was curious to find out is it possible to flash stock rom back on the device and relock the bootloader without bricking the device.
The EDL method seems like a pain..
The model is Raphaelin.
Flashed chinese 10.3.16.0, wiped system, flashed HAVOC, formatted data, wiped, booted. Everything works fine.
My questions are...
If and can i flash the EU rom and lock bootloader? Maybe through MiFlash.
Or
If and how can I flash the indian global rom and lock the bootloader after that?
Thanks guys!
Raphaelin means Indian ROM? If, you cant lock bootloader after flash different region ROM. If you lock bootloader after flash CN MI or RU type ROM, your device will boot lop means brick. You have to flash IN (india) official ROM to relock bootloader.
Download Indian Global Fastboot ROM and flash by XiaoMiFlash software.

You can only lock the bootloader with the ROM from the same region as the phone. In your case you can only lock the bootloader when flashing an official Indian fastboot ROM. If you try to lock the bootloader flashing any other ROM you will hard brick the phone. This can only be done when flashing the official fastboot ROM with the Mi Flash Tool.

Okk.. Thanks a lot!!!
Won't dare try anything stupid..
I have the Chinese version of k20pro and now I'm running the eu version of rom that is saying that my redmi is a 9t pro.
I also tried to lock the bootloader with this rom, but the phone got stuck on bootloop.
I thought that my phone is bricked, as no unlocked bootloader, there is no possibility to install the twrp and mi flash gave me an error. Luckily I put the phone in fastboot mode and run again the process of unlocking the bootloader and worked for me.
I would like to give it another try, but when I will have more time to read what other steps are needed and not to end up with a bricked device, especially that I enjoy this phone a lot.

You can not lock the bootloader again if you have any ROM that is not for the same region as your phone. With a Chinese phone, this means you can only lock the bootloader when installing Chinese MIUI.
You were lucky you had already unlocked the phone before and so had unlock permission on your Mi account. Many others have bought phones with the bootloader already unlocked, then done the same as you. Because they could not then unlock the bootloader, they have ended up with a hard bricked device, which needed flashing with an authorised service account.
How to Re-lock bootloader
Hi... I'm on stock rom Raphaelin v11. 0.4.0 global stable and my bootloader is unlocked. While using mantra RDservice app, it gives an error of rooted device. My device isn't rooted and every payment app runs fine. So I want to try locking bootloader to see if it works.

Question Stuck on Fastboot and TWRP. Help needed.

I bought the CN version then flashed to 12.5.7 EU ROM stable succesfully. Then I wanted to install Magisk via TWRP and I somehow managed to wipe everything, I didnt know how I did it. So now Im stuck with no OS. Only Fastboot and TWRP. I tried to flash via mi flash tool, but I keep on getting errors like flash timeout, antirollback error, mismatch errors, etc.
What do I need to do now?
Get the fastboot version of the .eu Rom here in the forum and flash it via fastboot.

As above. You can't use an older version using miflash, it's got to be same or newer.
If you have formatted data, then just use a twrp ROM but just in case of any partition differences, format data after flash using TWRP's wipe menu and confirm by typing yes.
you can actually, first of all you need to fix mi flash
open miflash
go to mi configuration and cancel the line into "checkpoint" setting and keep it blank (this will fix the error)
now select your rom image (unzip .tgz then unzip again the .tg archive and you'll have a folder, select this folder into miflash)
boot your phone into fastboot, connect it to the pc and click on refresh and make sure your device is displayed
on the bottom select and make sure you click on "clean all", this will format all of your data and inject stock recovery
click on flash and wait for the process to be completed
done

Question 12 Pro Bootloop - bricked?

Hi everyone,
I'm afraid that my 12 Pro commited suicide... :/
It's pretty new, only 2 weeks old now. I was using it with the latest Xiaomi.eu ROM a did not have any problems - tilll yesterday.
Out of nowhere it started lagging and crashed during normal use. After the reboot it seemed to be fine again.
But in the following hours it crashed several times and rebooted by itself. Even while sitting on the table with screen off.
Finally it ended in a bootloop.
What I've tried so far:
- reflash Xiaomi.eu ROM without wiping data
- reflash Xiaomi.eu ROM with data wipe
- reflash Global ROM with the Mi Flash Tool and "clean all"
- reflash Global ROM with the Mi Tool, "clean all" and Relock Bootloader
- factory reset in stock recovery
- start without inserted SIM card
What is working:
Fastboot
Recovery Mode (and ADB sideload using the Mi Tool option in recovery mode)
Unlocking the BL using the official Xiaomi Unlock tool
Occasionally it boots into system but crashes afer a short time, so I'm not eben able to complete the setup assistant.
Most of the time it just hangs at the boot screen (the one with the Mi Logo, "Powered by Android" text and open lock at the top).
Any suggestions how to bring it back to life?
Pio
It sounds like hardware problems.
Flash it back to the original rom that came with the phone.
Then check if the problem occurs again or not.
When not than it is a problem with the EU rom, and when it has the same problem it probably is an hardware issue.
Unlock bootloader again.
Flash with full Chineese ROM (i assume that yours is a Chinese edition) with the option bootloader relock selected.
Please note, you are good to flash Global ROM on the top of any Chinese ROM including xiaomi.eu ROM. But do not choose relocking because it will brick your phone permanently.
Avoid your step,
"- reflash Global ROM with the Mi Tool, "clean all" and Relock Bootloader"

Nope, I have the Global Edition.
So flashing the Chinese Rom and locking the BL is probably not the best idea
The device is at the service center at the moment, let's hope it won't take too long.
Worst out of worst, I can perform soldering and replace the nand chip of the device to recover it
I got my 12 Pro back und it's running fine so far.
Have had some random reboots in the past but they seem to be gone since the .18 update

You have locked the bootloader on a CN version with a Global rom or vice versa?

I opened the bootloader and uploaded the global rom to Chinese. I locked the bootloader. I got into a loop. Now I can't open the bootloader to load the new firmware
