You CANNOT update your MIUI using the global ROM. Unfortunately, Xiaomi seems to have recently truly divided the devices. In my opinion, this is so that the ones sold globally will have Google Play by default and Xiaomi no longer has to worry about 3rd party resellers such as GearBest or so on flashing "vendor roms" on devices that came with the China ROM.

So far I know they are 100% identical and only the Miui Rom and support is a lil bit different.
1. Global ROM is the official worldwide ROM for all countries except China (and India?)
2. The Global ROM has also a Beta Program
3. The Global ROM receives updates every 1 to 2 months
1. EEA ROM was specifically designed for EU countries
2. During the first setup, you can disable all ads inside Mi Apps globally, whereas in the Global ROM, you need to do that in the Apps themselves
3. The EEA ROM doesn't have a Beta program
4. Updates seem to be slower

Good info. Just to add that Xiaomi have since stopped the beta program, since that linked post, for all regions except China. Now it's only possible to get Chinese beta ROMs.
AFAIK, the only difference is around the strict EU regulations around the ads and data gathering. Though it sounds like Xiaomi are introducing the same easier, centralised, one click controls around these, within the core MIUI 11 functionality, so this would minimise even this difference between EEA and global, going forward.

I was looking for activating CA on this phone and finally found a solution!
To activate carrier aggrigation simply you need to flash latest EU rom/firmware.
For non-rooted you can flash latest EEA rom:

If you are rooted on Android 11 you can simply flash latest EEA firmware:

The benefit is improved LTE download/upload speed. The network strength is very good with this firmware on Arrow.

I don't own this phone anymore but I think it will only work on EEA.
Hello everybody,
I owned a Redmi Note 7 with Miui global 12.5.1.0 (QFGEUXM) ROM. I now have an Mi 9T Pro with Raphael Global 12.5.2.0 (RFKMIXM). Since the Redmi Note 7 ROM has better phone, messages and contacts apps (in my opinion), I wonder if I could load that rom in my Mi 9T Pro.
I have to mention that I'm not very good in this kind of procedures but I always try to do my best.

You can flash any annotated Rom for Mi 9T Pro.
