Question Video aspect ratios and resolution options. - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Does anyone know why when recording video with the 1:1 aspect ratio we're only allowed to record at 1080p 30fps? Is there a logical reason that I'm unaware of? I had a galaxy s9 prior to this, and I thought we were able to record at 1080p 60fps. I tend to record with this aspect ratio, as it's convenient for posting to Instagram. It would be a pain to record 1080p 60fps at 9:16, and then crop it post, though I can't tell if, when you would crop it, it down-rates it to 30fps somehow.

Pixel Aspect Ratio

MP4's on the Galaxy S encoded using Handbrake and MP4 aren't respecting the Pixel Aspect Ratio.
Meanwhile MKV's on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 don't respect the Pixel Aspect Ratio.
In otherwords, they only see the size of the actual video frame and not the intended frame.
That seems a little naff.
Thoughts?
Im using Strict anamorphic mode in Handbrake to keep vertical resolution.
Guess I'll have to change to none.

[Q]Is it possible to increase Camcorder recording resolution?

I am trying to increase video recording resolution of our phone from 640x480 to 720x480.As our phone can decode videos upto WVGA resolution so it should be possible to encode videos of this resolution (I can be wrong).I have achieved to the point of having 720x480 in recording settings. But getting camera call back error on starting recording. So if anyone can tell if recording is hardware limited(processor/camera sensor) or not,it will be very appreciable.
thanks
Proof:-
P.S-I am using DDKQ8 SGS2 camera mod by CCGH thats why interface looks different
No one huh :/ I will ask a few devs i know to look at this thread then
Hey!
The Motorola Defy has 480p as default but they have ported the Defy+ rom to it and it enables 720p!
But it is Armv7!
In short, our camera is capable to shoot 720p as it can take 720x480 photos but it has to take 30 such photos in one second and the hardware doesn't allow it. It has low capability hardware so shooting at 30 FPS and 720x480 can take a lot of load on the hardware and so it might not work at all. Also, you will need additional codecs to record 720p.
So it will be tough to make it work and the video might be laggy..

720p=/=720x480.
Defy is diff. case.Thats armv7 so its reference doesnt help.
What I am asking is 720x480 encoding possible by our processor or not.
2nd problem is aspect ratio-our default ratio is 4:3 and 720x480 is 3:2.So i guess this resolution MAY be related to wide angle lense or something. Its just an assumption. We cant have 720*480 full screen.Black bars will be there. So most probably needs XML resizing in camera app

1080 60 FPS too much noisy

I tried to make a video in indoor light in 4K and 1080, 60 FPS, is there a reason why 4K is much less noisy? I did not think that resolution decides how much noise is there.
4K provides you with almost 4 times the resolution of 1080P thus you will most certainly see a difference in clarity.
In running a quick test, at 1080P on the default camera app, it captures the video at a bit rate of 20.0Mbits per second.
In contrast, at 4K @ 30FPS, it captures the video at 41.9Mbits per second.
So the capture size versus the bit rate is certainly going to play a deciding factor.
But there are other ways to achieve an optimal capture rate @ 1080P.
If Xiaomi gave us the ability to utilize the High Efficiency Video Coding (H.265) and dictate our own bitrate, you'd see better capture rates @1080P.
My only other suggestion would be to seek out a third-party camera application (GCAM perhaps?) and test further.

Is there an app that supports [email protected]? There is no point in recording videos [email protected] if there is 4K, but I like the idea of 60FPS.

Question HDR video support?

Hi! who has this device, can he shoot hdr video? like an iPhone or not? it would be great if they shot an example on video how to deal with backlighting . Sorry for my English)
As far as I can sell, you can shoot HDR video in cinema mode, but only with 21:9 aspect ratio.

Question S21 Ultra sharper in FHD than 4K?

This question arised from the fact that I noticed something strange when selecting FHD 30 FPS mode. It seems that the video is grainy but it is very sharp. However, when selecting UHD 30FPS, the video becomes blurry and smudged, allmost like it's being upscaled. I have uploaded here a screen recording from Filmic but this also happens in the stock camera aswell. Also, does anyone know of an app that can enable me to record in UHD but keep that FHD sharpness? I don't mind the grain as long as it is sharp.
Taking a video in the night and waiting for a sharp image... LOL
Of course no device can record a sharp video without light... basic photo/video knowledge
Why does FHD look sharper than UHD then?
