Can CC audio be played to a different device? - Google Chromecast

I am trying to get the audio from my CC with GTV to play to another source. My preference would be to cast the audio from CCGTV to another Google speaker because that would be the most elegant solution. But I do not think this is possible. I know you can include the Chromecast in a speaker group but as far as I can tell that is only so the same audio can play from your speakers and your TV simultaneously.
The other option that could work is to pair an external speaker with CCGTV via bluetooth. But according to this thread this is not a great solution because you have to forget and then re-pair the speaker every time. The thread has nearly 150 upvotes but Google closed it a month ago. There was no solution to this issue at the time but I wonder if the recent firmware update made bluetooth connections more stable?
Shortly after posting this I discovered that you can access the Play store directly on the Chromecast. I wonder if there is an app I could install that would let me cast audio from the CC to a Google speaker?

I am not experiencing any issues with using my UE Megaboom as an external BT speaker on our CCwGTV. No need to forget and re-pair it every time, I just switch on CC, switch on speaker and they connect automatically.

How long have you been using the bluetooth speaker this way? Have you tried any other BT speakers prior to the Megaboom?

Hmm, let's see...I think we started using it regularly around maybe end of Jan/beg of Feb? Might be related to the latest system update that was rolled out in Feb, but not sure on that.
Haven't tried other speakers yet, since this is our go-to big boy for sound. If you want I can try my BT headphones and our smaller Xiaomi BT speaker to check and see on their functionality with Sabrina.

Yes, please. I would really appreciate that. If possible, leave the bt device powered on and turn the cc off for several hours before turning the cc back on. This is my use case, the bt speaker will always be on and I need cc to connect to it right away when it is turned on.
Thanks in advance!

Any update on this?
I'm really surprised that you aren't having to re-pair your speaker every time. I discovered two more threads on reddit where people complain about this happening to them to. I have a feeling you are the exception rather than the norm:

Haven't forgotten about this yet, gonna have a look this weekend with the different speaker / headphone.
Last night I was watching a show with my lady via the CC and I switched on our UE Megaboom to connect. I forgot to switch off my phone's BT (had them paired before for workout), so they connected automatically.
I then switched off my phone's BT and also restarted the speaker, it automatically paired with the CC without us having to go into settings.
btw @"norm" vs. "exception": hope you are aware that you would most likely only find threads of people who have troubles with this others without issues are less likely to post and are thus far less visible.
edit: by the way, i noticed one big difference between your experience and the two threads you posted vs. my case: we are using the CC with a computer monitor without in-built speakers. so could be that CC somehow detects those inbuilt speakers and resets to a default that routes audio automatically to the inbuilt system.

Thanks for the update. I don't know why sometimes I have brain damage and didn't think about how easily I could have tested all of this out myself with a pair of BT headphones.
Anyway, if you are an "exception" than I am too because I tested with my headphones and they paired up every time without any problem. So then I used the bluetooth dongle that I want to use with my AV system and it works fine too. I have turned the CC off and on multiple times and it connects every time, plus I have zero audio delay like many others reported.
Solution achieved.

hmmm....so then what was different with your speaker?

Bluetooth Issue

So I paired the One with my QED uPlay at home and I'm having issues. The phone has to literally be 30cm away from the receiver or the audio will start getting distorted until it eventually cuts off. I have two uPlays, issue exists on both so its not tbe receiver. Also my iPhone 4s has no issues either. I was hoping the One had better audio than the iPhone since it has aptx, but its quite the opposite. Has anyone tried bluetooth music streaming? Is it just a faulty phone?

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi both use the 2.4GHz channel. Asus had issues with the Prime because of its all-aluminum design where they had to greatly amplify the Wi-Fi signal and use diversity antennas to get through it. HTC uses the latter on the One. When used together, the Wi-Fi signal can overpower and interfere with the BT signal. Try turning off Wi-Fi and see if your connection quality changes. You're the first one to mention a BT issue so it could be unique to your device. Time will tell.
I have had a problem with bt connecting to my car (audi a1) I can hear the call but the other end cannot hear me. Going to delete connection and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies. I switched off WIFI, re-paired the device and bluetooth started working perfectly, so it makes sense it was interference. Strange thing is I turned WIFI back on and bluetooth was still working fine. I'll do further tests in my car tomorrow see how it goes. If I'm not convinced I'll just get the phone replaced.
I have also had issues with bluetooth paired to my hands free car kit. Issues have surfaced when streaming music and also when making audio calls via bluetooth.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
The One X had a similar issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
It could be that when I was first trying the WIFI antenna was stuck on high power, which caused the interference, but when I reset the WIFI it reduced its power and no longer interfered with the BT. I have changed the WIFI at home to run at 5 GHZ, but work still runs on 2.4.

got the same issue...some times I got no lags in audio streaming, but sometimes they are there...until it (maybe) will be fixed I'm using a widget, my cousin has coded for me yesterday . Quite simple solution. If I press the button, wifi turns off and bt turns on...works fine for me, so far

The only problem I have is the bluetooth in my car is always on. The phone wants to stay connected to it even when I'm in the house. Makes for a frustrating time when I'm doing work in the yard and trying to listen to something. I will plug in the headphones and after a while it will switch to the car's bluetooth.
Short of that the bluetooth connection has been stable and used a lot.

Blue tooth connection issue
Ok, let me be as descriptive as possible to my condition/experience.
I went for a walk today with Droid Turbo in tow, blue tooth connections to my Moto 360 (synced with Run Keeper) and Beats bluetooth earphones, playing a downloaded podcast, to avoid weak signal/streaming issues.
The sound coming thru the connected headphones was choppy, cutting in and out. Not listenable.
I thought the Moto active display were being tripped over and over again in my pocket, causing the choppiness of the bluetooth audio.
I turned off all the Moto active settings, as well as double twist to open camera app.
After turning off all those settings, it seems to play without a hitch. For the first couple of minutes. Then it would alternate between continuous playback and chopped playback, couple minute at a time, back and forth.
I am now done with that walk, sitting down typing this up and bluetooth thru Beats are working flawlessly.
It must be related to motion of the phone as I walk that causes the chopped playback, i dont have a clue.
Anyone have similar and create a setting profile that eliminates this?
Only issue with Bluetooth is with my mazda cx5, connects faster than my note 3, plays well except sometimes with play music the display won't advance to the next song but the song plays. Also sometimes the skip track won't work. Had zero issues with the note 3, hoping the next update fixes these problems. That's the problem with being an early adapter, but love the phone so far, miss having viper4android and pandora patcher, but can live without them, but keeping fingers crossed for root, although I seriously doubt this phone will get it.
Me too

I had what sounds like the same problem. At first I thought I was getting notifications that would make the Bluetooth connection to my car cut out, but eventually realized that it was indeed garbled and sounded like a CD skipping quietly. I also had horrible battery life and touch screen issues even after a factory reset. Returned it and I'm using my GNex until my N6 shows up.

My turbo has a terrible time staying connected to my pebble, so much so that I'm attempting to set up llama to periodically check for connectivity, and if it finds none, reset Bluetooth and attempt a reconnect.
No audio problems, but I've never tried for more than a half hour or so.

I run regularly with the Turbo in my pocket, with BT Headphones (Motorola H11), BT heart rate monitor (Polar), with Runkeeper app tracking my run and music playing from Google Play music. Works very well. Once in a while, I do get a little skipping (1-2 minutes of skipping on 1 out of every 5 runs?). I do usually turn my wifi off when I'm going for a run. I run by a few saved hotspots, and I think that the skipping is related to wifi attempting to connect to a weak hotspot.
Just curious... The ones having issues with BT connections. Are you by chance connected to Wi-Fi? I've always had issues with Bluetooth on my devices when connected to 2.4ghz WiFi. No issues with 5ghz. They're too close to the same frequency. My note 2014 can't even keep a connection to my work 2.4ghz Wi-Fi and stream over a Bluetooth connection. Drops it every time.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's the issue here. When I first got this phone, music over my bluetooth earbuds would skip like crazy while I was walking across campus. Eventually I noticed that if I set the wifi frequency band to 5GHz only or turned it off completely, then the stuttering would stop. Likely the stuttering was from my phone trying to connect to access points as I walked through campus. So now I just have tasker set up to disable the wifi whenever I'm connected to my earbuds. Not a proper solution but it works for now. Never had a problem like this with my Galaxy S3, though. Hopefully it can be fixed in some sort of software update.
I've had what sounds like skipping, but it only happens when the phone is either connecting or disconnecting from WiFi and I am streaming music, that wasn't uncommon with previous phones though so I wouldn't consider it a Turbo issue. I stream almost every day for a total of about 1-2 hours.

Rixanu - I think you're on to something... I'll give my "story" and hopefully someone a little more savvy than us can help figure it out.
I switched over from the good ole Galaxy Nexus about a month ago. No major complaints on the Turbo yet as we await Lollipop, with the exception of this Bluetooth issue. I have the Bluetooth paired in the car, and a set of headphones - music and everything worked perfectly on the GNex through the Bluetooth. Now, primarily, it's often choppy (mustic anyway) - for reference, when listening to music I listen via Google Play (all access or whatever they call it now). I figured the choppiness was related to the fact that the music was being streamed since most wasn't downloaded yet, but after very limited experimenting, I believe it must have to do with the physical Bluetooth radio. I had noticed in the past that when the music streams perfectly, a lot of times if I pick it up to check an email, text, etc., it becomes choppy, but thought that was strange since the RAM should be more than sufficient to multitask without choppiness. On my way home from a friend's, I played around and stuck my hand over various parts of the back of the phone, and would press the phone against my pant, etc., and could effectively interfere completely with the connection such that it would be only silent, and not even choppy. Yet, while the music wasn't playing, the track continued to playback on the device and when the music would pick up after I moved the phone, it would be 10 seconds or whatever later as if it had been playing straight through the whole time.
I haven't tested this theory too much yet, but I think combined with your issue, there's certainly something there. Unfortunately, I frequent these parts in order to find answers to these types of issues and don't have the solutions myself.
Do we have lemons, or is this issue prevalent?
I'm happy to provide more info to anyone that can help.
Thanks in advance!
Guys user: BIOYAM
Found a fix that worked for him and for me. You can try this:
Install SetCPU (I used a free app No-frills Cpu controll) with Governor: Interactive, CPU: Max 2265MHZ & Min 652
This totally stopped my bluetooth audio issues. Of course you need to be rooted to use these tools.
Hope this helps. :good:
Just an update for all y'all... My brother has the same phone and he's sort of oblivious to these types of issues, so I didn't trust his take on whether he was having the same problem. Anyway, I tested his phone on my BT devices and his phone had no issue whatsoever, even though mine did as I flipped back and forth between a pairing of the two.
Long story short, I called Verizon who connected me through Motorola and they're shipping me a new one, though they required me to put a $500 hold on my cc until I send this POS one back.
Happy Holidays
Yes
I would be happy for suggestions. My bluetooth headphone keeps losing connection to the phone, and then reconnecting. Now, this only happens when I'm not listening, but since I tend to keep the headphones around my neck when I've paused playback I hear the reconnection beeping, it's annoying. When I resume listening the headphone may, or may not be connected.
I've made sure all the other bluetooth devices have bluetooth off, so I don't think the phones are trying to connect to something else. I read in another post that someone thought they might be having trouble because their car bluetooth was always on. I don't know if mine is, but I can tell you it's a pain to connect the phone to the car. Every time I do I need to go through several menus and, of course, this can only be done in Park, so I doubt the car is trying to take over the phone's bluetooth. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
Since the MM upgrade, my phone has stopped connecting to my BT headphones automatically when I turn the headphones on. I have to manually connect them, by selecting them out of the list of paired devices. Is this just a change in how MM handles BT?
My issues with BT happen with both Lollipop & MM. My Turbo will randomly turn off BT and when I go to turn it back on I see the BT icon flash a couple of times quickly but it never turns back on. I found a remedy for the issues by using an app called Bluetooth Auto Connect but even with that I still have the issues now.
The phone also turns BT on by itself, even after I have manually disabled it
I'm sure the phone knows that it's going to be replaced with a Pixel and is messing with me as much as possible until then.
Any ideas?

Bluetooth Streaming - Popping/Crackling Music

Just got some new Bluetooth speakers and noticed a really weird issue. Music plays fine but throughout you can hear crackling and popping in the songs. Really not sure what’s going on. Heard it could be wifi on 2.4ghz network so turned it off, tried on 5ghz same result. Turning Wi-Fi off doesn’t help either when I stream with an iPad Air no issues whatsoever so I’m wondering does anyone have this issue as well. Would like to believe it is not my note misbehaving. Anyone else experience something similar?
Im using PlayerPro by the way.
Try Google music and see if you still get cracking. I've got nearly a dozen different bluetooth devices between home, car, and office and all sound great with GM and BeyondPod.
I've streamed mine thru bluetooth. No crackling or popping sound over here.
Yeah I'm may be the speakers or the phone I'm trying to narrow it down. I'm inclined to believe it's the phone. Since an iPad air gives me no issues. I do have volume boost and viper4android installed.

Bluetooth works perfectly here, although the distance seems to be shorter than other phones I've had previously but that could be because of other factors.

Bluetooth sound stream interruption
I think this is a common issue with bluetooth sound streaming and its implementation in Android. I experience similar popping sounds every time phone sends and individual sound to the speaker. Android doesn't seem to maintain a permanent audio stream, probably due to some optimization. The implementation is horrible though. If there is no stream available and a sound is played, it first establishes the stream. This takes some milliseconds. The sound can be completely missed if it is short enough. The stream doesn't persist either (power saving?) if no sound is queued after so you hear some amount of hissing until the stream is terminated. This is what generates that popping sound (noise to complete silence).
I think in your case, there is a bit of wait between two songs and this is what you are experiencing. I have the same problem with the Nexus 5X. After this many generation of phones, I'd expect such fundamental problems to be resolved but no luck. It may be a hardware issue but I can't tell. I haven't experienced the same issue with any of the iOS devices I have used so far including multiple generations of iPhones, iPads.

[Q] Looking for some help with my note 4 edge

Morning.
I am having a problem with my note 4 edge and my car stereo. Here is a little background.
I have a 2012 Subaru STi with the stock stereo and Bluetooth capability. When I had a note 2 there were *zero* issues with the device automatically connecting when I got into the car and resuming where I left off.
When I traded my phone for the note 3, I lost the auto paring feature and had to go to my stereo every time I turned the car on and select my device. ( I did lots of trouble shooting here... stock, rooted, un rooted, different ROMs) and no mater what, I could not auto pair. Additionally, there were often times where in order to play a call through the stereo I had to go to the phone, select Bluetooth settings, select pair voice with car.
Soo it is time to get a note 4. I figure it cannot be any worse than going from a note 2 to the note 3. Boy was I wrong!
The note 4 does not auto connect either.
I use spotify for streaming the music and have the files downloaded locally to the phone. Without rhyme or reason, the music will simply stop playing and my car will show "BT-A (blue tooth audio) Paused as if I hit the pause button on spotify. When I look at the phone, the song is still playing without issue and is not paused as far as spotify is concerned. I then have to hit the back or next track song to resume playing music.
it is very random.. for example, 5-10 seconds into a song it stopped and did this about 10 times. The drive home yesterday would let me get about halfway through a song before this, and the day prior would always freeze a the end of a song.
I have reinstalled spotify, factory reset the phone without any luck.
I know the next step for trouble shooting is to start trying different media sources and comparing (holidays/work have made that hard).
has anyone had issues with their note 4 and their car stereo? I will likely just be buying a new stereo because this is starting to be frustrating.

Was there a change from functionality from the note 3 to note 4 regarding Bluetooth? If the autopairing is the issue, I understand that. However, once connected, I cannot figure out why it hiccups and stops.

Interesting. Man this was unexpected! Thank you very much for your info. I guess I figured this was not a Bluetooth generation issue since it still pairs when I manually do it.

so many changes it not worth buying a head unit cause you still gonna need to modify the phone with the new files as long as it does not need new hardware. if your note 3 worked maybe see if a dev is willing to downgrade ur bluetooth or teach ya what you need to move around.

Well I think a new head unit is in the future regardless, the STi is fast but lackluster with comfort features such as sound. Would it be safe to assume that any mid-top shelf head unit would be compatible? I have looked at a few, they do not seem to state a Bluetooth version with them.
I may just go toy around with some at the store and decide from that.

Have you tried using your phone with another bluetooth device example a bluetooth speaker etc?...The reason I ask is I have hands free bluetooth with my 2014 Nissan Titan, it worked fine with Note 3 I had previously, connected with no issues but when I received the Note 4 for some reason it would disconnect from bluetooth. I than decided to pair my wireless bluetooth speaker I use to listen music from my phone and it didn't work. So I had to get a replacement Note 4 as bluetooth was the issue on the Note 4 as it didn't work, so you might have the same issue.
Damn... i think you are right. Does the new note 4 work fine with your car? I jus thooked this up to my A33 bluetooth speaker and it does the same thing... cuts in and out, plays weird and not right. I already paid 25$ for the screen protector to be applied... im going to be pissed i have to return it.
Did you get a new device or refurb?

To throw another variable in the mix...
I have no issue with streaming Bluetooth Netflix to my Beats headphones... with spotify messing up with my car and blue tooth speaker, perhaps it is a spotify issue.
I will get another streaming app to test out.
How could it work with my headphones without issue, but not with other devices and result in a hardware problem for the phone? This is now making me think it is more likely an issue with spotify

And another thought!

Shows some interesting ways to mess with my car's stock head unit. One of the comments mentions there are two ways to pair a Bluetooth device and only 1 is meant for the owner which includes auto connect. I am going to see if that is my issue and post back!

Audio quality drop on bluetooth

Hi everyone
Little bit lost on this and not sure if it's just me but hoping someone can help or point me somewhere. I have a s10+ UK edition. And a Samsung galaxy watch.
When I connect the phone to the car the audio is low quality and hisses a lot. When I put the watch into plane mode. Cutting it off from the phone. All is normal.
Have never seen this happen before. Any ideas?
Thanks
So you have bluetooth connected to the watch and car at the same time?
If so, my guess would be a setting in the watch for the volume of music. Or in the phone, go to settings / bluetooth / advanced / dual audio. Select it and play with the settings to setup what to do when two bluetooth audio devices are connected

Had the same problem with my cheap external bluetooth to FM adapter.
Turn on Developer Options and adjust the bluetooth profile while connected to your car audio.
Having Dolby Audio set to auto might also have an impact.
Thanks for the advice but no luck so far.
The settings under developers let me change when nothing is connected but they revert back to sbc soon as I leave the menu. And they are locked out when connected.
Also dual audio does nothing.
It only has the issue when the watch is connected.
As if its taking the bandwidth.
@ninjatiger26
@theanykey asked you to change the AVRCP version.
You can only change the audio codec from the default one (SBC) to something like aptX if your receiver supports it. And yes, you can not change the codec on the fly while playing.

Apologies for the delay, has been a mad few days!
Sadly changing the AVRCP didnt help on all versions.
It seems there maybe a weird one however on the codec. It reverts to SBC which from a bit of muddled googling is all my receiver supports. from non iPhone devices. However, it takes AAC if its a iphone.
Seems odd to me however they would limit it. Like i said this is from googling so maybe incorrect.
the stranger part is however i paired up a Oneplus 6 and the watch all was fine on SBC codec. its just watch and the s10+ it has an issue.
Admit very lost on this one.
I'm having the exact same issue. I've got an S10 Plus and a Galaxy Watch Active (both in the brazilian versions), and there is a noticeable crackling and loss of quality when I play music on my car stereo while the phone is connected both to the car and the watch. If I put the watch in airplane mode, the issue is gone.
Also, it only seems to happen with my car. I've tried to replicate the issue with my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones and an Anker bluetooth speaker, but with those devices there is no noticeable loss of audio quality.
I've tried resetting bluetooth setting, messing with the codecs in developer options and pairing both devices again multiple times.
Anyone got any ideas?

See if the problem persists when you only share your Bluetooth audio to your vehicle and not calls, contacts, or messages.

Why not Google it?maybe you will get a solution for this problem.
Same issue here on my s10+. When playing any audio in my car via BT i hear the distortion/hissing noise especially when the song has a higher treble frequency.
I have just about tried all fixes i could find on Google, and no luck.
When connecting to my ear buds (Jabra Elite 65t) it disappears and checked in developer mode that it supports to AAC for BT Codecs.
But when connecting to the car it reverts to SBC.
The issue clearly lies on Samsungs side, as my brother has a Huawei p30 Pro, also has bluetooth 5 and plays amazingly well in all aspects (Bass-Mids-Treble).
I know I'm posting this almost a year later, but i am desperately looking for a fix.
SN. I have recently updated my phone to Android 10, despite all the complaints to Samsung from many users... Sadly this issue has not beeing fixed on my side.
Does any of you still have the same issue?
I have the same issue with S9(android 10 ui2)
- no dou audio diable option
- bluetooth conected only to my earphones, with no car.
I’ve been a Samsung phone user since the S5 and this issue persists across all their phones since at least that one. The only real solution is to avoid the SBC codec or turn off your watch while listening to music. It will never be patched as it’s been going on for over 6 years. In the early days Galaxy phones only really used SBC so you couldn’t avoid it.
APT-X and AAC are your best options. Good luck finding those on a car system. You can easily find headphones that support them.
