Android 11 for M51 - please share the experience - Samsung Galaxy M51 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello
Some of you should already received Android 11 update.
What is you experience with that ? Any good ?

Battery is better.
UI is more transparent and smooth.
Wallpaper app works not correctly (displays wrong wallpaper position)

They have reduced screen size after Android 11 update

Samsung Galaxy M51 had an app crash issue (android bug) ater Android 11 update which can be fixed by manually updating "Android System WebView" from play store. Rest everything feels more or less same. Battery is much better.

Already got Android 11.
I think battery management is worse. Killing apps running in background is not as good as on Android 10

So far I have only heard bad things about the upgrade:
- poor battery life
- app crash issues
- wallpaper app not working properly
- auto HDR not working in camera
- device slow, etc.
I think I'll stick with Android 10 for now. If it ain't broke, don't fix.

It had nothhing to do with M51 and Android 11. It was problem of Android System WebView itself - present on many other phones. Already fixed by Google.

Agree ! Even app killing is too agresive. I cannot have Spotify running constantly - despite all limitations are excluded.

everything is good except the camera i think it is downgraded

AT first yes but after last small update battery is as good as previously
I suggest recheck your apps power settings one by one

No substantial benefits or drawbacks noticed so far. Stock UI feels a bit more laggy in some situations (opening app drawer or a favorites folder on the start page).

Most stable rom that performs well

I actually really like this phone, except for the lack of good roms. im trying to find a stable one thats atleast as fast as the stock eui rom. i tried lineage os earlier this year and instantly felt slow withing 10 seconds of using it.

After march update i had many problems with P.E
I didn't try latest version.
But in evolution everything is good with many customisation
Gcam 6.2 works so well
I had 3 problem with it
Camera crashes after opening it for 10 - 15 times or when enabling face unlock(needs reboot)
Unable to send WhatsApp audio
My battery standby is poor (i used extensively for 3 years)
If you want most stable then go for stock(good if you debloat it) or small eui or try Android 6 or 7 roms. But you cant use gcam 6+ over there

I recently found a video from YouTube, where they used adb from pc to disable the bloatware. But you have to root the device to completely uninstall it, though it backfires sometimes and crashes system apps frequently.
Small eui is better(no bloatware) but it has aggressive ram and battery management so there are some issues like notification arriving late and longer background apps reloading time and also unable to customise the icons for default launcher

If MIUI 11 turns out to be as bad as 10, which custom rom is the most stable?

Don't want to switch to a rom where stuff randomly stops working, so basically it has to be almost perfect. I guess Pixel Experience is the best currently? Does Google Camera work on every rom exactly like it does on MIUI?
Give me your suggestions!

what's bad about MIUI 10? Also I just ot MIUI 11 and it's nice.

AOD not displaying any relevant notifications, awful notifications in general, Android System using the most battery(though this might be just me), bloatware(removed it via ADB but still), automatic brightness randomly blinding me at night in bed.
I put Nova Launcher just to bypass some of the horrendous stuff MIUI has.

Just removing the bloatwares will do for a while. But if you're gonna ask for a custom rom. It's good to install LineageOS. I've been using that ROM since I was in Zenfone2.
PixelROM has still too much bugs. And I think all the custom roms will be stable after a year.
I haven't found any custom rom to be stable unfortunately.
Miui 11 is a tad better than Miui 10. But not by much. It's still got the terrible notification system, poor recents layout and overly complicated settings (thank god for search).

You have a very narrow definition of stable.

Most of the ROMs are stable, however none are without some minor issues, but nothing that stops them being used as a daily. Couldn't comment on all of them, but it looks like the Oxygen OS ROM is the only unusable ROM.
There are a few that are all at a similar level, with PE being just one of them.
My suggestion is look at the ROM threads that are the most active, as they're going to be the ones with the most users, which implies they're the ones with the least bugs. After that it's personal preference as to which you choose.
Unfortunately there isn't a perfect camera solution for custom ROMs yet.
To get the best out of it, you will probably need both GCam and ANX camera installed, as both aren't perfect, but their issues don't overlap much, so between them you get almost everything covered. There are many threads that discuss which versions of each work best.

They have fixed the notifications on AOD and I agree with the bloatware problem and automatic brightness problem. Battery life is better in miui11, at least for me.
I think the most stable 3rd party rom for this device is either LOS16 or Pixel Experience based on 9. I think they will soon all move to android 10 (Official builds) before 2020. But I haven't tried any of them.

(Was away from home, so wanted not to take any 'risks')
Now installed, went trouble-free in 20 maybe 30 minutes. Only few changes here and there (graphics for battery usage, camera, navigation bar gestures). Used Nova Launcher before, now I'm gonna give the OneUI a spin for a while. Screen can accept 5x6 icons (plus bottom row), I don't remeber if that is increased, but was used to 5x7 with Nova.
Saw one (A50) v.10 review on youtube that claimed increased performance in bechmarks, so tried that. Could not confirm any increase with PCMark.

- when taking a screenshot, you get an option to scroll down one or more times, then the screens below get collage'd on, to one long image. That's actually quite clever..
Oh, and one negative : Seems I have now a more or less permanent notification "Samsung account. To continue using services securely, sign in again." Dismiss and it will return shortly. Quite annoying, but googling seems to confirm no solution atm. Hope they decide to remove it later on....

I confirm that A40 outputs audio through USB C no problem (android 10). Using with dac/amp Topping NX4 DSD. I write this because I have read all over net that this does not work, but the gamble paid
Ah that sucks.
You could disable the notificatuo for it tap&hold but its still bad if you want to keep it neat
I'm still waiting for update...
I have installed Android 10 update, and I have noticed now the front camera only shoots in maximum 16MP mode.On Android 9 you could shoot with maximum 25MP mode ,why did they limit something which was already working. Also if anyone is still on Android 9 it would be helpful to know which version of Samsung Camera is on Android 9?
Android 10 version is installed in my phone.
In summary, One UI 2.0 with better Dark Mode support and full gestures that remember me to MIUI implementation.
Battery drops earlier, surely due to new ROM installed and I've to wait for ROM stabilize.

Looks like everyone have update installed except me. I see that it should be already pushed to my phone by the end of May. My girl have the same model and she is happy Android 10 user from beginning of May. Any ideas how to force update or check why it not showing in update section? I already cleared cache for google play services and google framework service and still no update

General Stock vs XiaomiEU smoothness experience.

Guys i recently jumped from stock Chinese to XiaomiEU. I noticed that the phone became laggy with animation.
This thread for those people who actually tried both choices (stock/XiaomiEU stable/beta)
Besides animation with micro lags on opening apps (a specially if they closed in recently menu) there is other weird stuff, example YouTube started to lags in scrolling. Google keyboard sometimes comes up late. Phone after restarting laggy first 2-3 min.
I switched back to full Chinese stock and im shocked how quick and smooth this phone is !
Please share your statistics if you switch from XiaomiEU back to stock.
In my opinion (with full respect to developer) stock debloted root it rom with adaway bringing you a Pixel smoothness... however I can't say similar about EU rom...
Regards
Yes I noticed it's not as smooth as well like not 120 fps all the time while navigating. Also noticed the YouTube scroll lag. If you turn on show fps in developer settings when you load up the YouTube app it drops to 60 fps only.

I might keep my CN rom..

Definitely download getapps as your system apps won't update without it. The EU rom should be coming with it, it shouldn't be deleted it's imperative.

I just finished installing but do not have getapps..time to Google it..
Yesterday, I manage to complete the task of intsalling xiaomi.eu ROM. At first it felt slow but looks like I was spoiled by 120hz on Chinese version. After changing back 120hz, it feels much better.
I will not vote yet as I am stil catching with my apps and awaiting first stable update to see the update process before making any decisions.
All in all, the main reason for this change was android auto for me. I tested and working which makes all this hassle worth for me. I will revert in due course about the smoothness...
Is There still a difference in speed and smoothness or has it leveled out by now ?

Question Samsung One UI Beta 1 reviews(exynos)

I just installed beta 1 on my S21 Ultra. My first impressions: for the first Beta seems to be stable enough, smooth with some nice changes of UI.

I have some bugs on video calls, especially on Duo.
And the phone overheats compared to A11 but that's normal.
Samsung Pay and Google Pay are working fine.
Except that, I don't think this Beta 1 is worth the upgrade.
There ois nothing really new or essential.
Let's wait for beta 2.
Working fine here, only thing I've noticed is that sometimes when opening the notification shade the quick tiles flicker.
Other than that really stable for a beta 1.
Edit: Google Pay contactless payment stoped working as expected on a beta.
Really thinking about resetting.

One feature that I really love and was waiting for years is 'Extra Dim', that's pretty useful for me, specially when using my phone on complete darkness before going to sleep.
