Hi I'm Roni, the sponsorship coordinator for XDA - Introductions

Hello homies. I am Roni, the sponsorship coordinator for XDA. I mostly post content for our sponsors, in the form of articles, threads, or videos. I've been at XDA for about 6 or 7 years or something. I can't even remember anymore. I also spend a lot of time on the forums, so feel free to reach out to me with any questions!

This is a new section and I'm honored to be the first to reply, first question:
How are you doing?
Second question: do you post exclusively promoted content on this account, and enjoy xda with a secondary account or you do that with the same account?

Cool a new forums

Like this section! Cheers

Good idea. Now new members can post their first post here and introduce themselves instead of using the old stickied thread

Hi Roni! Great to meet you. So does that mean we can't ban you for spamming?

Roni does much more than sponsorships. He's a jack of all trades, whether that means helping to look at key data, updating menus around the site, or helping with social media.

New guy here, learning the ropes. I'm a Windows + Powershell person. So, totally out of my element here with Roms and boot loaders. Been sporting a Moto Edge racer with Lineage 17. Thanks XDA for making this possible!

No reason to be a jerk on here. Search is a good function to use and you would've found it by searching but just posting the link you already knew of could've easily solved the problem.
The thread too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282279&page=4

I was in no way rude. I said please and even wished the OP fun using the app...I have it myself.
But lets be honest here...that post was about 20 threads down and the open was making a request.
This is why I keep my development to myself. Watch your words when judging others. Reported.

Yes, there was but this is supposed to be a community, and your actions shows otherwise. It's so easy to say "Hey search it up," but just providing the link would have ended the thread; in turn letting it die.
Really? Reported? How childish. No jeers or hurtful words were used, my opinion is that even with a "please" involved that was still a jerk response. This will be my last response on this thread in terms of speaking to you. If you have more to say take it to PM. I forgot how butthurt people on the internet get.
Enjoy your night .
I was thinking about reporting tincbtrar for being rude. Honestly, there's a lot of posters on XDA that would rather jump down your throat for being unable to navigate all 10,000 boards successfully, than to actually answer your question.
I am truly sorry to the OP if I portrayed the image of being rude.
However, The first rule of this forum is to use search. This rule was created so we wouldnt have people creating multiple posts. It is a hinderance to everyone who uses the forum to see mutiple posts. This, for one, is the second request for the same application.
We all do our part to share, and if you read through that thread, I am sure I did my part to help contribute to the community.

Well, search this forum for "supernote", and THIS thread is the only one that pops up. Really, I know search is the default answer for a lot of long time-ish members, but before telling people to "just search", realize that search is not the answer to everything.

No, if you search the forum using advanced search from a browser (not the xda app) you will also get this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282279&highlight=Supernote and another thread on Writepad in which Supernote is mentioned.
The xda app is terrible for searching, so that is probably why people get frustrated and just post new questions. I feel ya. However, it does get tiring answering the same questions over and over. So in the words of the immortal Rodney King "can't we all just get along?"

Thank you Okantomi! You are known for helping a lot of people...and for a while I was trying to do the same.
However...when I see backlash like this I give up. The point of xda is to help develop the community...and its a lot easier to help and share when people follow the rules. Creating posts just clutters the forums. I search three times using different search engines to ensure multiple posts are not created - which also ensures people can develop...not answer the same questions five times.
Alas...the apology was heartfelt and hopefully we can all get along.

It would be a real shame if you got discouraged from sharing. I just take a few days off and then it's all fresh again.

XDA noob vs. Veteran trolls.
GO GO GO!
I am most regretful, dear noob, to be the one informing you of the impropriety of you posting videos outside of the designated YouTube thread. Please be so kind as to post this there instead, as one of the ladies or gentlemen in our fine moderating crew will certainly lock this thread. Good day, sir.

Why no dedicated forum?

Jeez XDA, still no dedicated forum for Chromecast? With its current sell out & continued interest you'd think there would already be a dedicated forum here.
Then again, why am I surprised at XDA being slow on the uptake lol!

Really? No Dev section, no general, etc... "Umm" your definition of a dedicated forum and mine appear to differ.
It's only been out for a weekend. Many people that ordered the first day still havent even received theres (myself included). Give it a week or so. It's already been rooted and people are figuring out work-arounds to do what they want with it. Until there's actually mods to make to the device, it probably want get a dedicated section.

But I sure that xda forum is a dedicated forum where all persons can share any new information or problems. I will say thanks to xda forum for aware the informations of dedicated developers. I also visited CSS Chopper where a number of results always found the dedication of developers.
I asked about here but no response.

[OFF TOPIC] The off topic thread for 4x HD users :)

Alright, let's finally get all this off topic chatter out of development forums
Welcome to the place for us to hang out when we want to talk about things other than phones
This is posted in the 4x HD general because its intended for us to talk as a 4x HD community, not in the off topic forum
I think it would be best to keep personal things like where we go to work/school out of this, as this forum is a public place that anyone can see
Also try to keep things clean, as we have young people among us
Any 4x HD user is welcome here, don't be scared by anyone Australian, feel free to ask questions too
I'm thinking new topics every now and then, or we can just go where the thread takes us
Again, anyone is welcome, please feel welcome, and if you like, please contribute to the thread
But don't see it as a place to get over your 10 post barrier
If you are spamming to get your 10 posts, we will dob you in
So, what to talk out?
Id just like to point out New Zealanders are far scarier than Australians.
Nice idea, but i dont know how moderators will act when they see such topics even on non development sections.
i do agree to have such off topic thread and see what will happen.

[HELP] Question regarding the highly viewed thread

Hi,
I see threads here that appear one next to each other - one with 30 views and the other ones are with 700k views. How does it work? Are there times people visit XDA forums more? What do people do to get such high views rates?

Indeed there are. Thread views are largely generated by the interest in the thread topic, with members visiting the same thread several times per day. So what you're seeing is very common.

TY! I didn’t realize people were visiting a thread a couple of times a day.
I have two more questions please if may I:
In the apps threads, what are the people who visit them more than once are looking for? @[email protected] I thought that only the ones who create the threads are interested to see more traffic and so they are the only ones who visit their own threads more than once.
And the second question: who are the people who use XDA Forums? I’m not exactly aware of different societies among people overall.
Are those people mostly from US? Those forums are in English but US AFAIK is more of an IOS country. What do people find in Android? For me it’s a professional matter. I don’t know how others perceive Android. When I was a computer enthusiast (tech hacker) Android did not exist and I was concentrated in my university and high school studies. Ages I guess are Gaussian between 20-40. But I’d love to know more about the demographics here a little bit if possible . Up to the permitted level of course.
And I thought of one last question that interests me if possible, once again I’m just curious don’t judge me if my questions sound weird, I’m just learning. In the conversations that flow here in the topics, what makes people react to something that someone said? For instance why does a person reacts to an app that has been published in here instead of planning a trip abroad during that time or traveling between the cities on the public transport for instance? What makes XDA win his or her heart in that battle?
I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.

There are various reasons for this, mostly interest and participation in any thread are why members visit a thread a few times a day since discussions and questions are always fluid depending on various opinions and solutions.

XDA members total around 10 million world wide from virtually every country you can think of, and range in ages from 12 - 80+ as seen in my travels for 11 years on the site. And do not assume the US is just IOS country, that might get you some interesting replies on the forums. While there are many IOS users on this site as well, the predominant discussion has always centered around Android and the modification of devices since it's just plain fun to do. If you want to know more about XDA's history, have a look here.

The only answer I can give on that one is, human nature and freedom of choice. That is akin tho the old "Ford vs Chevy" discussion that I have seen all my life in the US over 62 years. People like what they like and do what they do because they can plain and simple. And that's about the extent of my philosophical knowleged. Hope I annswere your questions, and have a great day.
