Automatic brightness does not work
Update: to fix the automatic brightness on your device, after installing the ROM, put in the folder SYSTEM-OVERLAY the treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi 8.apk and set the permission for the apk on 644 ( use root explorer ) and reboot ..... problem solved
the necessary files are at the end of the tutorial
Steps
Note: I did the installation coming from Mui 12.EU, and there was no problem in the installation process or in the boot process
If you come from Miui12 .EU or any other GSI Rom go to step 4, if you come from the Rom stock follow the this steps
1- First make a backup of all the necessary information in case something goes wrong you can easily recover, Charge the battery at least 80%
All your data will be deleted during the process
2- Unlock the Bootloader if you have not already done it or do not know how to, follow this post: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
3- Install a custon recovery, if you dont know how to, follow this post: https://c.mi.com/thread-2850424-1-0.html
4- Make wipe only to Cache, Dalvik, System, Data and Internal SD
5- Format data,( if it doesn't format the data you will have bootloop) then Reboot into Recovery
6- Copy all the files to the phone (Havoc-OS-v4.X-20200522-Official-arm64-ab.img you can find it by unpacking the zip), Magisk,Magisk Path Fix, Permisiver, Certification Patch.zip, opengapp (recommended nano or pico)
7- Install system image to system partition (on TWRP go to install-Install image-System) .
8- Flash Permisiver v5 (on TWRP go to install selec permisver_v5.zip)
9- Resize system partition to flash opengapps (on TWRP go to Wipe-Advanced Wipe-Select System on the list-Repair or Change File System-Resize)
To Root
once you have installed an resized the system
10- Flash the Magisk path fix (on TWRP go to install selec MagiskA11_PATH_fix.zip)
11- Flash Magisk (on TWRP go to install selec Magisk-v23.0.zip)
12- Flash Opengapps
1-Flash Certification Patch
1 - Make a wipe to Cache and Dalvik
1- Reboot
The boot process takes 5 to 10 minutes the first boot, in case of any problem in any of the stages you can reinstall Miui version fastboot with Mi flash tool and start again

Hey !
I have a stupid question. Do you upload the GSI ROM and the other files on a SD card or on the internal storage ? I was searching this guide on the morning but I was wondering about that...
Thanks for your answer

You can place it in either of the two, as long as you can access the storage where you placed them from the recovery

Hi, I need to know some things to help you, what ROM did you have before flashing Havoc? do you have the bootloader unlocked? When did you use My flashtool, what method did you use?

In my particular case it was not necessary to flash vbmmeta as I comment in the OP I come from Miui12.eu, but it is necessary to avoid problems whatever the ROM you have before installing Havoc is to have the latest version of TWRP and have configured a lock pattern security in ROM access and in the flashing process I didn´t have problems

Hey!
I was on the stock ROM when i started to flash HavocOs.
I unbricked my phone with the MIUnlockTool V2 and my phone's still alive.
I booted on TWRP with fastboot boot TWRP.img 'cuz I can't boot to TWRP with volume up and power...
How can I flash HavocOs in the good way ?
I have Redmi 8 3/32 like you...

Ok the first thing is that you have the bootloader unlocked, if it is that way regardless of the stock version of the rom you have when installing twrp you must install magisk to ensure that the Recovery remains fixed in this link is a tutorial on how to install it, that tutorial was made by me and approved by Xiaomi https://c.mi.com/thread-2850424-1-0.html ,
install the latest version of TWRP and as it says in the tutorial then flash magisk, once you have everything ready install miui 12.eu do not do many settings except create a blocking pattern when starting the rom this is used by TWRP to be able to decrypt the internal memory
All ready do the steps as indicated in this tutorial (If you come from Miui12 .EU or any other GSI Rom go to step 4)
If for some reason you have a problem, use MI flashtool to return to the stock rom, but make sure to use the snapdragon method, select MIflash and when opening the screen at the bottom select clean all, this will prevent you from blocking the bootloader and you can start again without problems (note when selecting clean all at the end it will give you an error for not being able to block the bootloader and the device will restart, do not worry it will restart normally without problems)

Hey!
I thought about something this afternoon : if I flash HavocOS with adb and fastboot, we also haven't any problems with TWRP installation ! But the problem is that I haven't found any wiki to do that and i won't transform my phone to a beta tester....
Thanks a lot for your help but I think i will wait until a custom rom of LineageOs or HavocOs...

Hi . I am currently running havoc is 3.12 on my device I tried multiple times to flash this ROM without any success. Is not installing open gapps a problem ? Anyways when I flash this rom without flashing the certification patch I get a no os installed warning before rebooting from orange fox recovery but when I flash the certification I no longer get this message. Etherway I am getting stuck on a bootloop . How can I solve this issue? I did all the steps correctly wiping the correct partitions and formating data . Edit I wiped cache and dalvik after the bootloop without any success .

Hey !
I had the same bug before installing the v3.12 version.
I think it goes from the Permissiver v5. I think we should flash it to have the Havoc v4.
I'll test later if I have the time to do this and I'll inform you about the possibilities.
Hope I can help.

Magisk 19.1 KILLED my Note 7 4/128 Gb

Stock rom, bought Note 7 4/128 Gb 2 weeks ago and waited till yesterday to unlock bootloader. Without using the phone.
Finally... Flashed TWRP but understood that with stock rom, every time I reboot to system, stock recovery replaces my TWRP.
So... Today I've flashed MAGISK 19.1 and yeah, TWRP remains every time... But...
EVERY TIME I REBOOT INTO SYSTEM, PHONE REQUIRES 4 MINUTES !!!! It stays on Redmi logo, with sign "Unlocked" in the bottom of the screen for more than 3 minutes... Damn And now? What to do?
Download a fastboot flash file for redmi note 7 and flash it via miflash your problem should be fixed
but your bootloader will be locked again
and twrp will be gone

R u joking man ?! For what? For waiting other 15 or 30 days in order to unlock again the bootloader? And try again to root this damned phone obtaining this same result? Rather I'll put it in the trash and buy another one, maybe a decent phone this time.

Question: do you have a bootloop? Or does your phone simply need 4 minutes to boot up? If so where is the problem?
EZ solution: flash xiaomi.eu rom (which is way better) or flash another AOSP project.
If you really want to stay on stockrom: take the stockrom.zip -> remove the "verification.zip (or whatever it is called)" within the stockrom.zip and flash it via twrp.
Also: you should be able to flash the stockrom fastboot file without locking your bootloader again (since this only happens if you execute respective batch file).
I have magisk 19.1 installed and nothing is bricked, your thread is very misleading. Modding your device to hell and back isn't that difficult! ^^
Edit: when I flashed twrp first my device got encrypted (with no password setup). Everything can be fixed after a while.

Question: do you have a bootloop? => NO
Or does your phone simply need 4 minutes to boot up? => YES
If so where is the problem? => these 4 minutes to boot up this phone... that's the problem, I think it's sufficient no?
It doesn't matter what rom I'm using but I need 48 MPixel working so, I suppose, or Global or EU. Not AOSP based. It's correct?
EDIT : just to be more specific... Stock camera app doesn't open anymore after flashing Magisk I get simply a black screen.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I have a very special tincture for you (except your really like it between scylla and charybdis):
Rom
Debloating - you can delete pretty much everything
#Feel free to flash magisk afterwards
#In case you get and error while completing the setup wizzard: just restart it without having wifi enabled and you are good.
#Best Google camera mod (everything works + focus tracking n'stuff)
It's worth it: I've been on the Stock rom side for years but I think MIUI is superior (GCAM > MIUI cam but doesn't matter) "and all of it just works :fingers-crossed:"
Edit: all of your data will be lost & you have to do the setup of your device again but trust me: it'll be so worth it ^^ just amazing
Follow the instructions on xiaomi.eu (<ROM> link) carefully and you are good.

it's a 1-click rooter. if you want root use this. you don't have to do anything but plug your phone to your computer, go to bootloader and click. it installs twrp 3.3 and magisk v19. hassle free, that's what it is.

Ok, first I'll try with Xiaomi EU rom but then I'll try this too.
I hope that there's a way to unbrick the phone if something goes wrong
No, I have to wait 2 more days. I used to flash it with redmi 5a. I don't know why this step is not there with rn7.
Just some little info, before flashing EU.
1) EU tutorial reports to wipe Dalvik / Cache / Data but NOT System before flashing rom... Really?! So strange
2) If Magisk involves issues, maybe it's possible to use SuperSU instead. Or not? It's too old?
3) If after flashing EU rom something goes wrong, my Bootloader remains unlocked? Or not? Just to be sure.
4) If after flashing EU rom something goes wrong, my TWRP will remain? In order to try other ways.
5) If after flashing EU rom something goes wrong, it's possible to restore a Nandroid backup with TWRP? All partitions? Or I've to skip some partition?

1) it's not strange at all, as xiaomi.eu ROM is a system partition image. So no need to wipe a partition that will be overwritten seconds later.
2) no doubt your issue happened after you flashed magisk, as you stated it, but magisk is most probably not the main cause of the issue. It's the safest way to get root, SuperSU should not be used/trusted anymore as it is not maitained by chainfire anymore (iirc he sold his app long ago to some company)
I'm currently using my rn7 4/64 xiaomi.eu + magisk 19.1 with no issue nor boot delay.
Before that I had global eeu stock rom.
Xiaomi.eu is based on Xiaomi stock, but is not provided by Xiaomi, so it's actually more a custom rom than stock, so...
3) bootloader will stay unlocked
4) TWRP will stay there
5) I don't know, I did not do it yet. I would not overwrite any partition other than system, data and cache without knowing exactly what I'm doing
Well, firstly... Thank u all :good:
It seems I solved. I've followed these steps:
* boot into TWRP
* from TWRP, Format Data
* reboot into TWRP
* from TWRP, Full Wipe ( Dalvik / Cache / Data / System )
* copy Xiaomi EU ZIP into Internal Memory ( TWRP MTP ) => Release 9.4.25
* copy Magisk into Internal Memory ( TWRP MTP ) => Release 19.1
* from TWRP, flash Xiaomi EU ZIP
* reboot System
* configure initial setup wizard ( language, country, etc )
* reboot into TWRP
* from TWRP, flash Magisk ZIP
* from TWRP, Wipe ( Dalvik / Cache )
That's all. System boots in few seconds, as normal :highfive:
* ROOT => OK
* TWRP => remains (OK)
* BOOTLOADER => remains unlocked (OK)

Their is only one way to recover your phone just follow this step
1. Flash stock firmware(stock rom) vie fastboot using MI Flasher
this is bring back you phone and if you want to install custom rom then follow this
1. boot twrp
2. wipe all the data from slot A and B partition(internal storage as per you choice )
3. boot to slot B and copy past the custom rom file in slot B
4. flash that rom and boot to slot B and then flash Gaaps and other staff you want
5. reboot and enjoy.
NOTE: changing the slot require reboot twrp in simple words every time you change the slot you have to reboot the phone and boot again to twrp..
i hope this will work for you..:good:

Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery
Flashing instructions:
Dirty flash (assuming you have rom on slot A):
1. Download all required files and place them to internal memory (ROM, twrp installer, gapps, magisk, ..)
2. Boot twrp to slot B and flash ROM and twrp installer
3. Reboot twrp to slot A and flash gapps (optional magisk)
4. Now reboot to system
Clean flash (assuming you have rom on slot A):
1. Download all required files and place them to internal memory (ROM, twrp installer, gapps, magisk, ..)
2. Boot twrp to A slot and wipe everything except for internal
3. Reboot twrp to B slot and flash ROM and twrp installer
4. Reboot twrp to slot A and flash gapps (optional magisk)
5. Now reboot to system
If you are coming from stock:
1. Download latest TWRP installer and image
2. Open cmd and type fastboot boot twrp.img (change twrp to its actual name)
3. You should be on slot A in twrp, if not change it and reboot to bootloader and repeat step 2.
4. Format data
5. Now follow instruction for clean flash

I have this issue and none of the steps worked.
I got my device 2 days back and it was in Oreo. I tried to update to pie but the update keep failing. I unlocked the phone and flash latest official fastboot rom using mi_flash and installed magisk using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/unlock-bootloader-n-root-magisk-easy-t3856800
Everything went smooth.
Today I tried to go further and instal PE rom using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-custom-roms-stuff-t3876375
Everything goes smooth until I boot to TWRP and try to flash the rom. It gave the error posted by OP. I have tried the following things since:
1. Try another two roms, same issue
2. Flash stock Pie using mi_flash then temp boot to TWRP latest version from 'a' partition, wipe everything, then boot from 'b' partition, wipe everything, try to flash. Same issue.
3. Install TWRP (it installed without any issue), reboot to installed TWRP, flash rom, same issue.
4. Try to flash with 'a' as active. Same issue.
5. All other possible combos (i think) of the above. In all cases everything goes as expected until I try to flash the rom.
Currently I have flashed the factory image back. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Clearing up TWRP ambiguity versions + rooting MIUI pie

There is confusion over which recoveries to install for Redmi 6 (cereus).
Failure to install the correct TWRP will result in a hard brick with no chance of restoring the device without an authorised account or going to a Mi Service Centre.
If you are currently on the MIUI Oreo ROM:
You may ONLY use TWRP 3.3.0 OR 3.2.3-0 OR 3.2.3-1
The recovery by either TWRP or LR.Team is both ok.
If you are on the PIE rom:
You MUST use TWRP 3.3.1 or OrangeFox Recovery. R10.0-2 nocrypt Pie is confirmed to be working by me.
To root MIUI pie, follow the instructions in this post from 4PDA. This is because you will be unable to decrypt data.
You need to create an account to download the patched boot.img. You can either create one yourself or ask me or someone else to PM you with the boot.img. I will not attach it to this thread because it is not my work. The files have now been attached. See post below.

I did something wrong just don't know what
I tried with OrangeFox and when rebooted in recovery the phone would not turn on and just vibrates.
I was lucky because I just needed to open and remove the battery to get the phone back up.
So just to get it right (please correct me if i'm wrong):
Starting from unlocked MIUI stock with android 8.1 base:
0) Download patched boot image from OP
1)Download TWRP 3.3.0 OR 3.2.3-0 OR 3.2.3-1
2)Download Magisk 19.3 Stable (would the latest stable also work https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445?)
3)Download official Pie Rom: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM/miui_HM6Global_V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM_99304098f7_9.0.zip
4)Enter Fastboot -> Flash TWRP
5)Enter TWRP -> Flash the Pie Rom -> Flash patched boot.img -> flash Magisk
6)Boot into system -> Leave the device alone for 2-3 minutes and install Magisk Manager
7)Download -> TWRP 3.3.1 or OrangeFox Recovery. R10.0-2
8)Enter Fastboot -> Flash TWRP/OrangeFox
would this be the correct procedure?
cheers

Why don't you skip steps 1-3 and just use XiaoMi Flash to install 10.4.4.0 via Fastboot by 'saving user data', then follow the instructions here? XiaoMiFlash will overwrite your recovery with the default so there is no risk of a brick. Then Flash TWRP Pie, flash boot img, flash magisk.
As I have said, you will brick your device. If you have TWRP Oreo, and then you install MIUI Pie, you will brick your device. You are doing EXACTLY what I told you not to do!
It didn't come out as clearly as you think. maybe it's my own deficiency.
btw whenever i flashed any update via TWRP the recovery got replaced by stock recovery as well.
(I don't tell this to call into question that your suggested way of doing was the most safe way.)
Is XiaoMi Flash available for linux as well?
edit: do you know if the latest magisk stable 20.0 would also work?

I'm not sure - I have never flashed any MIUI ROM in TWRP. It seems normal though - the updaterscript probably tells TWRP to overwrite itself.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-miflash-linux-t3708847 It's a bit complicated
This work for me :
1 - Install Pie Rom https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM/miui_HM6Global_V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM_99304098f7_9.0.zip with TWRP 3.3.1 https://mifirm.net/downloadtwrp/62 or with another method.
2 - Shut down the phone , go to fastboot (Vol - and power), plug to computer.
3 - From the computer fastboot flash boot boot_10.4.4.0_R6_mgsk_193.img (see the second post of this thread).
4 - fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-0602-REDMI6-CN-wzsx150.img
5 - Recovery (Vol+ and power)
6 - Install Magisk 19.3
Reboot and enjoy
Hi, currently I'm on stable China mui v10.4.3.0. Do you have boot.img on that v10.4.3.0. Currently link only provide boot.img for v10.4.2.0 for the china version. If no how do I get those, can I just backup them from twrp, Then create patched boot img with those backup boot? Thanks

I have the camera and flashlight problem too. Any fix?
Unfortunately, I didn't find any solution.
Currently, my phone does not start, has a black screen and vibrates all the time. I can't run it in any way
EDIT:
Hi.
I was able to bring the phone to life. Get instructions on how to get to the battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9FH88b16bc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAflA4UKLLY. In orangeFox recovery I checked the flashlight, it works.
That makes us two. My phone is unusable at the moment. I thought the root was responsible for the camera bugs, I uninstalled magisk, the bug was still there. I tried to reinstall MIUI 10.4.4 ang got an error. I've wiped everything including vendor and system.
I clean dalvik and cache and for now the phone is working even, after flash the patch boot.img

So how did you do that flashing A/B
Please also post a guide if possible and you have time for the same..

I believe gsi rom is much better than stock rom for our device as I'm using stock global rom and encounter lot of bugs and the only thing that make me happy is game space. Thanks!

This Friday hope I will be testing maximum no. of GSI image and will be posting which boots and working better for Redmagic 3 in a separated thread for discussion with the community.
Also will backup such as Game launcher, LED Strip and other important app using titanium backup and will try to install as system to check if they are working or not.
Just flash the Chinese rom then flash TWRP and then go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development and pick any rom you want some of them even have GAPPS included
---------- Post added at 04:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:31 PM ----------
If you're having trouble with GAPPS follow this steps
1) Boot into TWRP
2) Flash latest GSI img
3) Resize system file system (necessary on my device otherwise gapps will not install)
- Wipe -> Advanced -> select system -> resize file system
4) Flash pico or mini or aroma which ever you want gapps zip
6) Flash magisk zip
7) reboot
every (gsi) rom i've tried so far(various versions of resurrection remix, lineage, android 9 AOSP) has gotten stuck at the boot animation, tried pretty much everything i could think of(with a lot of getting stuck at the bootloader as a result)
for twrp i followed standard guides and the guides posted here, no errors, just gets stuck at the boot animation(i've waited for up to 2 hours to see if it might still continue)
anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?

I've successfully installed aosp 9 (phhusson), havoc 2.9 & 3 on my phone.
Here's some step that i take:
1. Install Chinese rom
2. Reboot to stock recovery wipe userdata & cache
3. Install twrp
4. Flash system image from twrp (always use a/b image)
5. Resize filesystem
6. Flash gapps & magisk
The phone should reboot once on the 1st boot and then boot normaly on the 2nd, you will know you've succeeded if the screen become dim at booting. That should take only a couple minutes, not hours. If that didn't happen try to format data from twrp or use different rom (i found that aex didn't work on my phone)
Hope this help :good:

Hi. I tried the phhusson 10.0 V203. It worked and it booted. I used ARM64 AB image. Everything was working fine, except i was unable to make any outgoing calls. So i tried to use a different image. After that nothing is working. Even the image that worked the first time doesn't work. It keeps getting stuck in boot loop and going to fastboot. I tried with 4 GSI images, nothing is working.

I've reverted my phone back to cn rom soon after because of the strange vibration bug on every single gsi rom i've tested and forgot to take stock rom system dump at that time so i never got any chance to try it.
But i've tried to install gamespaces stuff to my other phone running aex pie with no avail. So, unless anyone know how to mod the app or port the necessary framework stuff from stock into gsi rom I think it will never work.
Maybe some overlay will make it work. i don't know, just guessing.

If you stuck on fastboot after splash screen (without boot animation) then you have to use the unbrick tool to flash over the system and redo it if you want to. Never reboot without system on this phone or you'll stuck on fastboot.
But if it got bootloop at booting screen and able to enter twrp then you can try to wipe or format data. It happens on my phone too. I don't know if the twrp was buggy or something but yeah just try it back and forth between wiping and formating then it will randomly fixed.
Red magic 3 treble
That's the thing with this phone. Everything is random. I did use the repair tool and flashed the latest global version. But I am unable to flash the gsi again. It keeps getting stuck in fastboot screen. But if I select recovery from fastboot. It does goes to twrp recovery. But nothing after that. I hope someone can make a custom rom with Nubia launcher.
Red magic NEEDS to provide us with fastboot images...We have no real way to recover from a semi brick WTF!

I'm on havoc 2.9 right now. I managed to install game space and run it but it doesn't activate fan, so I'm guessing it need permissions and framework files which I don't know it's file name so I just give up on this. But game space does run like normal app. If you are wondering how I install game space, I pull out game space apk from global system.bat.br (after converted it to system.img) and put the apk in system/app using twrp file manager. Maybe someone knowledgeable can figure this out.

Complete setup of Lineage OS

Since in my last post I made a complete mess out of my first time trying to root my K20 and install lineage I wanted to my make a separate post so that I can list all the steps I need to take to correctly setup my phone how I want it.
What I actually want
A rooted device
Lineage OS
Minimal excess files (A clean Install)
Current Steps
Unlock and flash recovery
Backup
Format Data! (It's important if you come from Miui)
Install Q Firmware + vendor
Install LineageOS followed by gapps
Reboot into system and setup device.
Reboot into recovery and flash magisk
Profit???
Feel free to tell me how stupid I am and what I need to add to the list or steps I should take to make this process better.
I also dont know if its possible to get recovery and rom on android 10 versions.
Thanks
Did these steps not work?

I like the details steps but I have a few questions.
(Unlock and flash recovery) From what I can tell there are two recovery's Orange fox and TWRP
(Format data) Just format data or are there other sections I should format/wipe
(Install Q Firmware + Vendor) I have no idea what Q firmware is or what vendor you are referring to
(Install Lineage + gapps) Is there a specific version from the Mi 9T pro since the official site doesn't list it
Any of the two recoveries will work. Q firmware means Android Q. Wile data/cache dalvik that's it. Regarding firmware, there's a clear topic of Lineage OS in K20 Pro forum which is still in unofficially state

1. You can take what you want. Orangefox is based on TWRP.
2. Format data is needed if you come from miui. If you did it you are good to go. But it wouldn't be false to wipe system, dalvic, cache
3.https://downloads.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/raphael/ --> Take 10.4.6.0 or 10.4.8.0 (Android 10 = Q)
4. No there is no specific version.

I would recommend the latest TWRP from here

The dev is an official TWRP dev, so this version, or something very close to this, is likely to become official in the future.
OrangeFox is a heavily modified TWRP and has a lot of added functionality specific to MIUI. If you wanted to stay on stock MIUI, but debloat and have root, etc. then OF would be the better choice, as it has functionality that lets it play nicely with MIUI (it can remain installed when OTA updates are installed)
As someone new to flashing on Android, I would suggest downloading a 10.4.x fastboot ROM from the site I pointed to in your other post, then follow the same procedure to flash the ROM.
Make your choice based on Kollachi's info and what's important to you (HD Netflix - choose Indian, or a working NFC - choose Chinese)
However you MUST change the flash option to 'clean all'.
At this point you've got a nice squeaky clean starting point.
Boot into the ROM at least once, though it's not necessary to go through all the setup.
After that follow Kollachi's steps but you can now ignore the step to flash vendor and firmware as it's all part of the fastboot ROM already flashed.
Wipe cache and dalvik, format data.
There is no official LOS for this phone yet. Hopefully it will go official in the future.
For now just get the current Android 10 based LOS from here.

When ever I think I have the process memories and I follow the steps on my screen I still somehow **** this up and I cant understand how.
My current steps include
Flash the fastboot with the ROM that you linked me in my first post
Flash the recovery with TWRP (Every time I have then tried going back into TWRP is failed to work and prompted the original MIUI recovery)
Install the TWRP zip from custom recovery to try and fix the issue above (Only had this work once on orangefox and then never had success again)
So now I try to just flash the recovery and boot to it using CMD and it works fine
Move the lineageOS files from my PC to the phone SDCard
If I wipe data and the caches as suggested then the lineageOS zip is now go and I am back to flashing the fastboot ROM to restart the process
I know this might seem like im either stupid or just not getting it but could you or anyone else please make a bullet pointed list with links to what I have to download in order to actually achieve this since I cant do anything correctly even when trying to follow the steps.
(Im going to sleep since I have been trying to do this for hours now and I will check reply's in the morning.
Thanks for the help so far EVERYONE

I just told you what I have done and I'm running it so far without issues.
Robbo just said you should flash the whole Chinese or indian rom but I don't like his steps because:
1. File is much bigger
2. MiFlash is just meh
3. If you forgot to change the flash process you are bricked if you don't take the correct firmware for your phone.
Default option in Miflash is set to "Clean all and lock". Every time you use it, you will need to change it into "clean all" or something other.

Yes flashing the whole fastboot ROM does add the risk, if you forget to change the flash option, but you are guaranteed a clean slate and so less likely to have any niggling issues that nobody else has. I would bet large sums of money that many of the issues you see on here, where only one person has some problem and everyone else is fine, would be solved by fastboot flashing MIUI before installing the ROM of choice.
If you know what you're doing and know when you'll be OK with what you've got and know when it's best to start clean, then going with the vendor and firmware is easier.
But if your unsure and new to flashing on Android phones, I will always suggest go with the overkill and know you've got the clean slate to start with.

It's sounds like the main issue is stock recovery is being restored. This is something that MIUI will do when it boots up.
When you first install TWRP you cannot boot into MIUI before booting to TWRP as you instantly lose TWRP. So you need to boot into TWRP first in order to do something to prevent it being overwritten.
Options are
1
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP.img
2 Use the button combo whilst still in fastboot - power and vol+, hold both until the phone vibrates and the initial logo appears.
Now to keep TWRP you need to either flash a custom ROM, flash Magisk or flash the dm-verity script.
In your case you want to flash LOS, so now you've booted into TWRP go ahead and continue with the steps given.
Also, wait until after you've formatted data before copying everything over. You can access the phone as an MTP device when in TWRP, so you'll be able to connect it to a PC and drag everything across, or you can stick everything on a USB OTG pen, if you have one, TWRP can read data from them too.

The exact problem I have is that I cant transfer any files to the device after formatting the data. I follow the steps correctly and I get into TWRP successfully and then everyone has told me to format the data then install lineage but I cant install the OS if formatting the data removes it.
Get device into fastboot
Flash revocery with TWRP
power the device off
hold volume up and power
boot into custom recovery
format data
move lineageOS onto my device
install lineageOS
reboot
done.
This is the list of exact actions I am doing with no results is there something I am missing or something that is in the wrong order.

After format data, reboot your device into recovery again and transfer LOS, gapps and all files you need.
Format data kills the storage.
I always used to reboot from TWRP back in to TWRP after formatting data, but I've recently seen someone saying that they just unmount data then remount it again. I haven't tried it myself but it certainly makes sense and would be quicker too.

Yes I did that and it worked, unmounting and remounting helps detect the storage in PC
