LineageOS 18.1 for the Galaxy Z Flip 4G
Code:
/*
* Your warranty may be void depending on the place you live.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if

*/
Working:
- Wifi
- Sound
- Video Playback
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Ril (Mobile data, calls, sms etc)
- Sensors
- Bluetooth
- Wifi and USB tethering
- MTP
- 2D and 3D gpu acceleration
- HW encoding/decoding
- GPS
- Cameras (both of them)
- HWcomposer (HWC)
- Screens (both of them)
Issues:
- VoLTE and VoWIFI (and won't be implemented anytime soon)
- SELinux is set to permissive in this first build.
- Small outer cover screen has touch x and y axis swapped. (to swipe left, you must swipe up etc)
- Opening the fold wakes the phone up, but closing it doesn't put it to sleep (android does this assuming you want to use it with outer screen, but on flip this is impractical)
- Wireless Powershare (not implemeted yet)
Instructions:
Make sure you are on OneUI3.1 F700FXXU4DUB4 firmware (latest at the time of writing this). Older or newer ones may or may not work, this it what's tested.
- Carefully follow all instructions flashing the LineageOS recovery image in this thread, including decrypting the filesystem.
- Format data from los recovery again.
- Download and ADB sideload LineageOS zip, and (optionally) opengapps & Magisk(yes, the .apk). You can push them into internal storage but after decrypting that won't be accessible until first reboot so to avoid a mess it's best to sideload. Hit yes if the recovery asks you anything about missing signature verification.
- Reboot and profit?
Video Demo
Notes:
- It may be possible to not have to decrypt the filesystem in order to use this, but personally i've never tried it.
- If you run into any issues regarding the rom itself (bootloops, crashes etc) try a clean flash without gapps or magisk and see if they occur again. Some meme versions of gapps and/or magisk can sometimes cause problems. If you still have them, post about it here.
- In the same downloads folder i have uploaded a kernel with the cover screen's touchscreen disabled since accidental touches can start getting annoying. If future me got lazy and uploaded it in .img format, place the kernel on the root of /sdcard/ and run this command from adb shell in los recovery (after enabling it in advanced tab)
Bash:
dd if=/sdcard/disabled_covertouch_F700F.img of=/dev/block/platform/soc/1d84000.ufshc/by-name/boot
- Upon first boot you may want to go into settings and switch preferred connection mode from 3G to 4G

Hi, Rainbow_Dash! Thank you very much for your work!
May I know where I can get the source code for your bloomq build?
I want to customize LineageOS source code for myself a bit.

I briefly remember trying to flash a phh android 11 gsi and it crashing into fastboot. Never got around to troubleshooting as to why tho. But i've had issues with those on other devices too, so android 10 ones might work if you manage to downgrade platform.

Anybody got problems with the Touchscreen? After reboot in LOS, its not working. I can not touch on NEXT>
I see one time in the left bottom corner "SAVE MODE" pop on the screen. Maybe this is the problem?

Does it work with OneUI5 update (F700FXXSAIWA5)? Or it's a no-go for newer versions than 3.1?

No, it won't work with versions other than what's in the first post. I've long since sold my z flip (kinda regret doing so too), otherwise i could've updated it.

Hi, @Rainbow_Dash This is the only post that I could find that includes a custom privacy ROM for the Samsung Flip phone. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 SM-F721B months ago and still searching and waiting for one to pop up. Do you perhaps know or maybe have seen anyone post about this that you can share with me? It would mean a lot. Thank you for your help. Cheers, Teddy

Since nobody has made any video on YT about it... What's even showing on the secondary screen?
I've always been curious how a custom rom would look on these foldables. Congratulations on making the first one.
I suppose nobody has attempted making any rom for any of the other ones because they have two "fully functional" screens on both sides. This is more of a ticker display.

I did make and link a video demo, it's on the first post. Basically it's a mirror of the main screen.

That's hilarious. Too bad the touch direction is for some reason inverted. It would have been a fun way to use it.
Now i really want to buy one of those, just to play DOOM on the small display.

The only difference is OTA update from CM servers. That feature is not available in unofficial builds. But its no big deal, I can integrate OTA update if u guys want..
The other day I had the same idea
Basically stripping the source and remove any unnecessary stuff.
Did you manage to fix the sound distortion? I'm still stuck on that one, as I can't find the crucial part in the kernel (Or is the problem somewhere else?)
Anyway best of luck

[WIP] [2014-12-11] CyanogenMod 12 ALPHA semi-nightly builds from Archi's sources

I don't actually do this romming thing, I just compile the ROMs. All credit to JustArchi, Moster2, arter97, etc.
Read the WHOLE OP.

Working
- updater-script (flashing)
- kernel (booting)
- OpenGL (CPU rendering)
- MALI blobs (GPU rendering)
- HWComposer and MALI R4P0 drivers
- Rotation
- Camera (this DOES NOT include stock camera app, use e.g. google camera)
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- NFC (Android Beam)
- Sensors (ALL!)
- Internal / External SD Card
- Vibration
- GPS
- RIL (including mobile data)
Not Working
- Nothing?!?
This is NOT A STABLE BUILD.
If you suffer bootloops, or any other bugs, I do not care, unless you can provide a logcat.
If you have an issue that has already been solved or reported, do not expect a response. I'm 99% sure that your issue is known and is being worked on by the devs.
You do not need to flash this over any other ROM. Wipe dalvik cache, data and system before flashing. Allow some time for ART to finish booting.
If it doesn't work for you, and you aren't willing to put the effort in to either get a logcat or perhaps do a little bit of research by yourself, go back to 4.4. You clearly should not be running pre-alpha builds.
I use the ParanoidAndroid Beta gapps, they work fine.
And the downloads? (Changelog is in the next post down)

build date and cm version seem to be off. I don't know why, but the kernel version is right
If you like this, support JustArchi, Moster2 and arter97. They do all the code, I just build the builds.
I use TWRP, although any recovery should work fine. As long as your recovery is recent (i.e the latest version), it will not make a difference to how successful your installation is.
Installing in 4 simple steps!
Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data and system
Flash the ROM
Flash gapps
Doesn't work? Try skipping step 3. Still doesn't work? Logs or it didn't happen.
Fixing your problem in 4 simple steps!
Use the search function. Think of it as Google, but for this thread. Also search Archi's thread
Read the last 10-15 pages of both this thread, and Archi's
Still haven't found someone who has reported your issue or haven't found a fix? logcatlogcatlogcatlogcat. Post it here in an attachment. Explain how you produced the issue, specifically. "I pressed the button and then the thingy stopped working" is not enough.
"Wow it's been a whole two days and you haven't posted a new build?!?"
I have a life. I generally prefer my actual life over reading XDA. I do go places without an internet connection. I do not always have a computer capable of building Android. I do sleep. I do go out during the day. I do live in a timezone that is not in the USA. Therefore, I may disappear off the internet for hours, even days at a time. You can always build your own builds if you want!
These builds come straight from @JustArchi's repos. To duplicate my build, use the CM 12 manifest and put Archi's roomservice.xml in your local_manifest folder. I recommend getting a CM11 build working before attempting to build this.

problem with long sms
Hey,
First, thank you for sharing and your work!
I have only one question: does long sms works? I have issiu with Archi's Lolipop - If message is not too long (1 sms) everything is fine, but if im writing long message like 2-4 sms, message is not send, i can't call anyone till phone reboot and also i cannot retrive SMSC number. After reboot everything is ok.
Any fix or tip?

I have no idea. Get a logcat of what happens when you send a long SMS.
thanks, will give it a go.
Is the initial keyboard start-up issue fixed in this build? (or alternatively, is there a way to run the first time boot script after I enable the keyboard, instead of having to set up everything manually?

I don't get it.
What's the difference between this and JustArchi's? Sure this is a newer build but nothing else has changed?
I am not getting the point of making a rom by cloning Archie's branch. Is their any value additions? This is the main reason why Dhiru sometimes keeping his work closed. I am not demoralizing OP. Some difference/value additions will make our day.. Cheers
Could you add trim support to kernel?
other then that- rom works great. Hiccups i got on Archis rom are gone here. for now that is.

Yeah, but still, nothing has changed from JustArchi's sources, which also has this features. The only thing is that this is compiled and released earlier than JustArchi's.
If that's the main point, to release a ROM based on JustArchis's sources before him, it's just so rude.
do I have to flash anything else exept rom, like gapps, 3g fix, camera fix ?
Did anyone tested the rom????????

from my glances of cyberspace (mis?)info, doesn't unlocking stock bootloader enough to recognize?

hey! why did you ignore me if I can ask?
RIL n bluetooth might be fixed but ... I can't fix WiFi due to different drivers.
These are the solutions for WiFi:
a) you make a custom kernel also a custom wifi driver from scratch
b) you compile from source with j13g's device tree
c) use stock sprdwl.ko (Won't work)
Tri's solution:
a) read that it won't be fixed
b) make logcats if you want the not working thing fixed
c) or don't download the rom........

Hello! I didn't understand your problem with AOD, if you refer that you cannot activate it, go to Settings >> PHH Setting > Samsung or Misc settings ( i cant remember ) scroll down then think AOD _ _ _ , then restart device and it should work, same to disable it or you can use the quick settings to deactivate it. The bugs of AOD is that you cannot use FOD in AOD screen and it isn't touch responsive. Related to camera app, no you cannot use stock camera on any AOSP regardless.
just flashed this rom, so far so good, everything worked out the box so far. ill repost if i find any bugs.

Tested and Verizon does not work on this GSI.
The latest version of android 13 has problems with sound
I'm I missing something: how do I possibly get rounded corners on apps when opening and switching? I've tried so many GSIs, and so far only lawnchair 12.1 has that feature as far as I know.
anyone manage to get file transfers working? i still have to boot into twrp to transfer files to and from my phone as the rom doesn't seem to work right when connected to my pc, i get the ding that it's detected but that's it
Hello, i'm a newbie to android modding and custom roms but i want to flash this as i hate OneUI but i have two major concerns
Will i be able to use Google or Samsung Wallet and banking apps (i know that installing custom roms break the know waranty bit?
If i somehow mess up the TWRP or the custom ROM install will i be able to unbrick it?

Installation guide:
Spoiler: Using PE recovery
1. Recommended Samsung firmware version is A705FNXXU5DVK6, but it will work on slightly older versions too.Make sure that the bootloader is unlocked.--
2. Boot the phone into download mode. Flash Pixel Experience recovery through AP button in Odin.Download here. Note: TWRP will not work! It does not support new A13 roms with the latest changes.
Use PE recovery for the best experience, otherwise don't complain if your phone bootloops.
--
3. Boot into recovery (Vol+ and Power while USB is plugged into PC) Note: Samsung's OneUI wipes the custom recovery partition and possibly vbmeta while booting so try not to reboot into Android.
--
4. Format data and system in the recovery--
5. Flash the rom in "Apply update" menu. There are 2 ways to install:
On the phone: Copy the zip to a FAT32-formatted microSD card and install it in recovery.
With a PC: Use Minimal ADB on Windows. Open "cmd-here" and type
Code:
adb sideload <rom-file>
where <rom-file> is the filename (drag-and-drop the zip file into cmd window).
--
6. (Optional) If you want superuser access, flash Magisk in the same way that you flashed the rom.We now have a working ramdisk so newest Magisk works fine ^^
--
7. Reboot and enjoy
Downloads:(Update recovery and clean flash if coming from 2023.01.04!)

So far so good on the a70(sm-a705mn), I just made the installation without problems, thank you very much for continuing to create roms for the a70q, now only remains to test the pixel experience rom.
Working well on (SM-705GM). No issues except screen gets brighter while unlocking device. Easy and Quick installation. Excellent installation guide. Thanks for this rom.
Came from the crDroid A12 GSI. This is such a lovely ROM. Really impressed, working fine and fingerprint is better than the official Samsung ROM. Great stuff. The hardware on this phone is still great and Samsung ditching it at Android 11 seems like such a waste.
New update is out, fixing a battery drain issue and homescreen stutters.
Unfortunately, it requires a recovery update and a clean flash due to filesystem-related changes, so please back up your data (for example make a google backup) before updating!
Upgrade process is basically: reflash new recovery, wipe data, flash the .zip, like in install guide.
This shouldn't be an issue in the future builds, sorry for the inconvenience.

GSIs are pretty terrible from my experience, so I feel like actually porting the rom is worth the effort.
It's crazy how this rom is so smooth. Well done
The ROM is awesome.. very good work
The bugs are:
1- screen of FOD not working
2- vibration on answering and ending calls not working .. I am not sure if it was working on other ROM versions ..
Thumbs up..

Loving the ROM, works great.
Sorry to be nitpicky but could you fix the aliasing on the rounded corners. Think it's in a file called dimens.xml. Just needs a proper rounded corner value set I think. It'll also make the Google Assistant swipe animation follow the rounded corners.
I can't remember off the top of my head on how I fixed it for the A50 but I believe I removed the separate top and bottom values and replaced them with just rounded_corner_radius.

Oh, unfortunate. Android Auto support on custom roms has always been kind of hit-and-miss anyways, on many devices across many different roms. It's not that high of a priority for rom devs. Either way I can't test that since my stereo doesn't have AA
