Android 11 Release - Finally! - OnePlus 7 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Exciting to see android 11 come to our OP7 series!
Can someone who doesn't mind being a guinea pig test the update out? I am currently on a third party ROM (i do prefer OEM) however i had to go that route since my usb to audio splitter didn't work after 10.X.X.X update here since November. Was wondering if someone who doesn't mind could update to this latest, and test it out. https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-7-pro-7t-7t-pro-stable-oxygenos-11-android-11/
Regards,
Travis

i would love to do it but no file for the 7 pro yet

There aren't files for 7 series, only for 7T and 7T Pro.
I've read something about problems with Camera app, so they turned off distributing update. Still waiting

Global version is on Oxygen Updater now.
Nothing for EU yet.

AOD was in the labs, labs is not included in the stable release ring (probably never will be) as it's supposed to be test software.

Can someone try this trick to enable AOD on stable OOS 11?
[ROOT/Magisk] Enable Always on Ambient Display on Oxygen OS 11 Beta 1
Contrary to what OnePlus have said, the code for the Always on Ambient Display is in the first beta of Oxygen OS 11. All you have to do is enable the feature, which is disabled in the "OPFeatures" framework. This is very simple, and can be done...
forum.xda-developers.com

Installed and working stable for me. No problems observed with camera, messaging etc. AOD is irrelevant to me - won't miss it. Battery seems to be stable too - no indication of excessive power usage. Will update if I see anything. BTW, I am stock non-rooted.

Can we return nanroid if 11 is buggy ?

There will possibly be a rollback link provided if OnePlus ever make an actual thread for the release, there isn't one at the moment.
OK, I'm mistaken, there is actually a thread now :
OnePlus Community
Introducing our new OnePlus Community experience, with a completely revamped structure, built from the ground-up.
forums.oneplus.com
No rollback link though so you'd likely need to do a full flash which would probably wipe the phone.

Has anyone rooted yet? And if so, which version of majisk did you use?

Hi, I tried rooting with the patched boot.img linked above but it fails to boot twice then enters recovery. Also tried patching the img myself using the latest magisk 22.0 app but it gave the same behavior. I use the command: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img to flash.
Anyone know what's up ?
EDIT: after the failed boot I have a "BOOT REASON" menu in recovery giving this message:
Code:
--------------------------------
Boot Reason : RescueParty
--------------------------------
Unable to parse kernel log. For more debug information,
adb pull /mnt/vendor/op2/rbr_log
or pull op2.img
Trying the adb command in recovery tells me it's unauthorized and I had to give access from the phone (which isn't possible it seems). Doing the adb pull with the system booted gives:
Code:
adb: error: failed to stat remote object '/mnt/vendor/op2/rbr_log': Permission denied
EDIT 2: After a backup and clean wiping the userdata magisk seems to work now.

From OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 4
to OxygenOS 11
without losing your data.
1.) Download and install OxygenOS 11
2.) Download keep_data.apk
You need to install it after the update was installed but before you restart.
After the apk is installed, run the application, click "KEEP DATA".
You should now be able to restart the phone without losing your data
P.S.
All your applications
and data remain intact

Yes, that does put the option back into the display settings, but just like before it gets lost in reboot unless you add that sh file

Coming from ob4, I reflashed magisk to the inactive slot in the app after the upgrade was complete but before I rebooted the phone. After the reboot, I tapped on the magisk app and it said it needed additional files. After it downloaded and installed the additional files the phone rebooted and my root works fine. I started with magisk 22.

I am on 10.3.7 rooted with magisk. Before starting, a few questions. Is it possible to upgrade to 11 without losing data and retaining root? If not, is there a magisk for 11. What is the safest way to upgrade? Also, is there twrp for 11? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fresh install from factory reset. Screen still wigs out on FHD. Unlocking causes everything to be gigantic and have to hard reset. So no change for me from beta 4 to stable 11.

I read the instructions in the zip file. My question is do we install the magisk and boot image before or after we install the update?

So I'm stuck in a boot loop after taking the OTA.

There is a Eu version of Android 11, I woke up with notification )

Lenovo Z5s (no PRO) TWRP 3.3.1 + Pixel GSI + MIUI + FlyMe + H2OS

Hello guys,
I don't see a dedicated section for lenovo Z5s but I managed to download the TWRP 3.3.1 from baidu (only chinese and english but chinese default).
I then looked for rom authors, it seems they all are using chinese custom roms, anyway they are mirrored and MIUI has been tested by me.
I decided to mirror all downloads I found (they were quite hard to get):
TWRP :
TWRP-3.3.1-LENOVO_Z5S-CN-wzsx150-fastboot.7z (with fastboot instructions and files)
TWRP-3.3.1-0529-LENOVO_Z5S-CN-wzsx150.zip (can be flashed with TWRP)
recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-0529-LENOVO_Z5S-CN-wzsx150.img (only .img file)
Chinese Roms :
Z5s_miui_19.5.20(9.5.16)_Pie_Public_by Art_Chen(TWRP_FASBOOT_2in1).zip
Z5S_H2OS_190722
Z5s_Flyme7.3.1.0A_YouLinw_V1.5_19.07.25
GSI Roms : (Seems to be AB, because A-Only are not working)
According to 4PDA, only Pixel Experience have been tested for now, they provide screenshot and video.
Pixel Experience GSI Tested working!
Ressurection Remix Tested working!
Arrow OS Tested Working!
All other public GSI images (tested many, none of them working, no idea why)
Official ROM backup (QPST format):
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/l78071/
I added permissiver v4 I got from Telegram on Android Q GSI channel
Instructions for GSI Images (thanks to 4PDA):
Using TWRP recovery:
0. Download the firmware files to your smartphone.
1. Enter the recovery menu. To do this, turn off the smartphone and simultaneously hold down the power button and volume +.
2. In the recovery menu, select the item Cleaning -> Selective cleaning. Check the boxes on Dalvik / ART Cache , System , Data and Cache . Swipe the slider to the right. Return to the main recovery menu.
3. In the main recovery menu, select Installation -> Install Img. Select firmware file XX.img. For system section firmware, select System Image, and for boot - Boot. Swipe the slider to the right. Go to the main recovery menu. Select Reboot -> System.
This procedure is new for all smartphones, so don't be afraid to ask questions if something went wrong.

Using adb:
0. Install the USB, ADB and Qualcomm drivers on the PC. Reboot the computer and connect the smartphone to the PC. Download files for firmware on PC.
1. In the folder where the files (.img) were saved, press SHIFT and the right mouse button from scratch. In the context menu, select PowerShell or CMD (activate command console).
2. Enter the commands one by one
fastboot flash system XX.img
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
PS In some cases, it will be necessary to flash vendor and / or boot:
fastboot flash vendor XX.img

First, thanks for the Thread. Very informative.
let me report that H2OS showes black screen after boot logo,
Flyme seems working but with some minor problems (bad english translation, no google apps on built-in chinese app store, upper notification bar not aligned, etc).

Hi, thanks. H2OS is the only one i have not tested, i will remove the link. If you live outside Cina I would recommend GSI rom since chinese roms might have issues with notifications.
I now recommend AEX (arm64 AB)

Don't you lost WIFI after flashing just GSI img file? I need to flash MIUI before flashing any GSI to keep WIFI working.
and this maybe is a lil bit off topic but have you ever had problems with fastboot?
my fastboot is not working properly since I bought this smartphone, 'fastboot devices' works but
can't flash anything, saying random error like 'maxium download size not reported', 'too many links', and even 'error: no error'...
tried changing usb port, cable, driver, everything I can think of.
I can still flash boot.img, recovery.img, vbmeta.img via QFIL but I want to use fastboot which is less hassle..
Report:
MSM Xtended is working too.
problems I hav till now.
1. WIFI not working if you flash directly from ZUI, or wipe cache/dalvic.
2. loud speaker sound problems at various ROMs, with or without equalizer app.
3. notch size is not matching with status bar at every ROMs
4. double tap to wake is not working for every ROMs.
I actually did flash miui first.
I contacted art_chen to get international MIUI, he told me he dont have phone anymore but we can download his miui zip and replace system.img with the one official from MI9 (taking the system.img full global fastboot firmware and it should work).
The vendor image and boot.img included in the miui rom have been customised by art_chen so he probably fixed wifi !
Since i also dont have the phone i cannot test so well.

1. did you had loud speaker problem after flashing treble GSI files? Mine distorts heavily with every .img file i tried.
2. I'm testing swapping .img file with other xiaomi devices but none of them is working. Sounds like you don't own the device anymore so this will be lonely fight.
---------- Post added at 03:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:36 AM ----------
I need FM radio which is not included in Art_chen's ROM so I tried swapping system.img with Redmi note 7 (closest spec), and failed.
TWRP log is saying "Failed to mount '/system_root'" so i guess the reason is partition chart problem or pre-installed magisk, I'm not sure I can fix this but I'll keep trying.
since FM radio is not even on the hardware list so i decided to give up FM radio, but updating android security patch with
Mi 9 (since OP mentioned), Mi 9 SE (quite close spec) and Mi CC9 (not international but even closer than redmi note 7) firmware files,
I don't think any of them would work, but I'll keep trying(2).
You could also try with Flyme blobs (boot, vendor etc) they are from different dev
If you messed up partition i recomment flash wjole miui or flyme with adb
Looking for Global Rom
I purchased the Chinese version of this model.
I tried various GSIROMs, but there were a lot of things that didn't work.
I want to use ZUIOS obediently. Does anyone have a Global Rom?
Also, you should be careful about overwriting GSIROM.
The lighting adjustment has gone wrong.
(No problem with genuine ROM)

there is no Official Global Firmware since this phone is only for china mainland. You can enable google service/calendar/GPS by downloading play store .apk from lenovo app store.
there is faulty firmware chimera with chinese rom + google service preinstalled, but trust me, it is unusable. It has every unfamiliar chinese-specific settings + bunch of 'google service force closed' alarms, bad battery drain by google service, crashing app downloading, etc.
Yes, I'm still using this mediocre device, found some useful articles about GSI, will throw links here.
https://www.dospy.wang/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1626&extra=page=1
https://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=1504540
it's not in English but google translate will help you guys.
here's the essence.
Flash MIUI first, its mandatory. Without it you will lost WiFi.
But, you will lost DT2W and FM radio at kernel level if you flash MIUI.
Now you can flash any GSI, but I recommend Pixel Experience from the link I uploaded,
because fixes of common GSI issues like statusbar height (use magisk+rirucore+riruedxposed+gravitybox), sound distortion (use magisk+audio compability), headphone not detecting (random) are integrated to the GSI.
Global ROM was uploaded to 4PDA.
K10 note is almost identical with Z5s and now it's Global released, you can get the QFIL files, I guess just swap system.img and userdata.img might work.
the difference between Z5s chinese ROM and K10 note global ROM must be something like that of Z6 pro chinese and global version...
edit: yes it is working, just swap system_xx.img and userdata_xx.img files will do the work, only camera.apk won't work properly (no optical zoom just digital, ramdom crash sometimes ) but we can stick with Gcam port.
I flash pixel experience then i find out auto brightness isn't work well.i adjust it to the lowest , but it still so bright.how can i fix it?
H2OS 9 : https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/45L1TZFa0g1MP3-jSYhMDg
Flyme 8 : https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/P8tL8eq9UhV8Hbq8-7nYBQ
MIUI 11 : https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/q-8qnFI1VP8upyz6quZZmw
it's all from YouLinw, the dev of Flyme 7 port in OP.
Flyme 8 is still in daily alpha, it boots but stuck in Terms&Conditions screen.
MIUI 11 and H2OS works great, (but don't use pre-installed Magisk, install official v19.3 from via TWRP. idk why but pre-installed one or lastest v20.1 won't work.)
Android Security Patch in MIUI11 is Sep 1st while H2OS is Aug 1st (same with PE I linked before)
so it's your choice to use MIUIsh MIUI with newer ASP, or H2/PE which is more stock android, but with older ASP.
Quack phh Android 10 is not working sadly,
neither vendor by Art_Chen (MIUI10) nor YouLinw booted,
with original vendor it boots but Wi-Fi won't work, like always.

For me note 7 pro have better dev support but one week for unlock bootloader and lcd cheaper for repair . Can't find photo versus, z5s have three module but rn7p have 48mp , someone have an advice ?

I think Redmi Note 7 pro is the buy.
I chose Z5s because of its cheaper price, lighter weight, and more premium material (alu+glass).
And I also had nice Dev experience with ZUK Z2 so I expected the same with this phone (which was wrong guess )
Cam, I assume stock camera is better in Z5s, but You won't use stock ZUI/MIUI ROM anyway so that won't bother you.
GCam works great on both model, ported stock camera apk won't work as good as it's on stock ROM, both in Z5s/Note 7.
Sound, both mediocre.
Screen, both mediocre (HDR on Z5s is fake color boost only for chinese content apps),
and Z5s has unusual copper plate type connection not like normal ribon cable.
Dev, Z5s is for China mainland only so you won't get proper global/AOSP ROM developments,
but you can get bunch of MIUI/Flyme/H2OS ROMs...
Official Update is also better in MIUI over ZUI.
Hi there. Was there any AOSP or LineageOS working on our Z5S?
Hi @vickdu31 do you have a copy of recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-1015-LENOVO_Z5S-CN-wzsx150.img ? I tried as a guest in 4pda but I get a 404 error. Thanks for your help!

11.0.4.0 changelog?

I'm wondering if there's an official changelog for miui releases, I can't seem to find any information on it.
So far in 11.0.4.0 I've noticed:
-Picture in picture is fixed, youtube vanced now works in background like in Android 9 100% of the time.
-Fingerprint scanner works close to 100% of the time instead of ~40-50% of the time.
-Recents lag is now gone.

Nice, I hope I get the OTA soon!
I just got my k20 pro two week ago.
It was on android 9 an got updated to Miui Global 11.0.3(QFKEUXM) via OTA.
Any idea when and from where does it gets its updates?
I'm curious about 11.0.4 . Does anyone have experience with dirty flashing it? All good?
This cn 11.0.4 actually fixed mine fingerprint sensor to unlock from idle screen
Which phone version is this update for? Can you please write the full string, like for example QFKEUXM.

yes will loose it. i've upgraded a few minutes ago. this is the steps taken:
1) move the OTA rom from downloaded_rom to "downloads" folder (important to have no problems)
2) reboot into TWRP
3) flash OTA zip
4) flash magisk 20.3 zip
5) reboot
you will not loose anything else than root. but if you flash magisk after the ROM without rebooting in the middle you're good to go

Did you ever encounter problems of corrupted packages ?
Downloaded at least 5 times by the system update screen and the md5 checksum never matched.
I gave up and downloaded it from the web (bigota.d.miui.com), and no problem.
Is the system download not safe ???
Any ideas why I'm not able to download a non corrupted archive ?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi
Rooting the sweetin is pretty straight forward like most Mi phones. I am sure you can google it and iron it out.
But just FYI, below are the steps -
Link Mi Account for unlocking in Developer options.
Unlock Bootloader using Mi Unlock Tool (lengthy, considering 15 days waiting period)
Flash latest TWRP
Install Magisk via TWRP.
Please let me know if you need further details

-Enable developer options
-Apply Mi for unlock
insert the active sim
register mi account using that sim
bind the number, account and phone in developer options for unlock
(you can take away sim, if you are using on another phone)
-Check using mi unlock tool and apply for it
you will get a time to wait of 168 hours(7 days)
-Unlock after the wait period
(device will be erased)
go enable developer options again
enable USB debugging
-TWRP
get the TWRP in this forum, which is very good with decryption and USB OTG/SD card access
use adb, fastboot commands on terminal and flash TWRP as your recovery and boot
(If you only want to boot without flash, you can do that too)
-Root with Magisk
with TWRP, you can flash magisk
(latest magisk will be available as apk, so change to zip and flash)
boot to ROM after flash success
-Update magisk
get magisk canary from magisk github(availabl as debug apk) and install that to update already flashed magisk(can use regular apk also which the magisk by itself will do)
canary magisk has the codes to read safety net pass correctly
-safety net check
enable magisk hide, and hide google play services, gpay or any other app you want to
flash magiskhide props config within magisk
check safety net from magisk(if canary) or by safet net test app or using gpay or any banking app

It is in a very good shape now that decryption is enabled, although there are a few bugs like sideload. I expect this will be cleared very soon though. You can find more info on that here -

I assume, finer steps and details you already know.

depends on the rom, i believe
can be as simple as download update and flash(it goes through TWRP) or, you might have to download full ROM package, flash that, and then again flash magisk or even TWRP(esp if it gets replaced) sometimes
it varies

Did you install the latest 12.0.10 update then?
I assume you have a rooted note 10 pro max, what was your procedure?

note 10 pro indian version
updated to the latest stable and then rooted.
(but I don't think firmware matters; I mean it is the same procedure)

Sorry for not clearing it up, I meant by Xiaomi OTA's.
Do tell me what your procedure is gonna be when the next OTA comes out since you're on TWRP.
It'll be a big help since I don't want to use custom ROMs at the moment.

unfortunately, always, I move out of MIUI to AOSP based minimalistic ROMs(I like that way)
I might not be of help to you.
But, earlier, it was like this-
once bootloader unlocked, we won't get incremental MIUI updates
so, got to download full ROM, update
and after update, every time recovery will be replaced
so need to re flash TWRP, re flash Magisk
(i don't think anything much changed, still not very sure)

I see, I appreciate your input regardless.
Is it usually a dirty flash? or does it wipe out everything as in factory reset after installing the update?
Also, what custom rom have you been using?
Is it stable? Are all the cameras fully functional while using the aosp based rom?
I haven't unfortunately found a stable gcam that fully works with the note 10 pro yet, therefore I am being hesitant to switch to custom ROMs for now, otherwise, I would've flashed an AOSP rom in a heartbeat, I hate MIUI.

Development [PORT] BETA MIUI A12

Good afternoon
The XD team (Xyen and Dargonswim) has managed to port the Chinese betas with Android 12 for anyone who wants to test it.
You only need to have the bootloader open.
Installation (FASTBOOT):
- Enter fastboot mode (vol - and power).
- Connect the phone to the pc (have the USB debugging enabled).
- The first time it is recommended to do a clean install. Enter cmd and choose windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.ba t option. (Use the corresponding file for other platforms).
- Then you only need to use the update file.
- Wait 10 minutes for the process to finish. Do not disconnect the mobile at any time.

Great news. Simple and safe method and the original Chinese beta ROM without modifications under Android 12. Congratulations and good work.
I re-flashed the global A11 ROM for the sake of updates.
I can assume that if I flash this one, I won't get any updates. Is that accurate?

expected that actual TWRP is not working correct with A12. But you can install the the magisk.app and patch the boot.img file (extract it from payload with payload-dumper on PC). Once you have patched the file copy it back to the PC and put the mobille into fastboot. Then with command "fastboot boot patched_boot_image.img" you will start with Magisk for your session. If you want to have root permanent after phone is up go directly to the Magisk app and install it "again" directly.

you need to install this new twrp , with that its possible to force flash payload rom.
attached :TWRP_Mi11Ultra_3.5.2_11
and with TOOL ALL IN ONE you can even flash with that buggy twrp opened

Honestly I'll skip this. Global ROM on A11 is almost flawless. I'll wait for official rollout

i have one problem with this update
applications keep on crashing, i have to restart them again
"New" way to instal ?...
1_I downloaded the rom from Oxygen Updater. I read the instructions. You need to have Developer Mode enabled, otherwise you don't have Local Update option in Settings, etc .., or you can use Lokal Update.apk.
2_Phone Decripted the A.15.zip. This take some time..
3_Phone verify the A.15.zip. This is faster than derciption.
Restart with A.15 on the phone.
I noticed that xPan mode works now in Camera.

I installed the zip file through local update .apk and now after update I don't have any update settings in settings > about section. Any idea why?
If anyone was able to download the whole A15 and can post it on Android file host or Google drive or wherever, I would appreciate it. Or if they have a link to where Oxygen Updater gets it from, that would work great.
Oxygen Updater won't show me the A15 because I'm on A13. I can't use A13 because I can't install an incremental. And they still don't have OnePlus 10 pro on their official software update page.

Already tried that. By the way that only brings the local update option in update settings. But I don't even have update settings.
Save all you want on laptop/pc and do a Factory Reset (erase everything)
If you want, of course..
The full zip is on oxygen updater. My guide is there if you need it. If you're rooted you'll need the local system updater, install it via that app after downloading from oxy, then Magisk install after OTA, after reboot you'll retain root.
Again instructions are in my root guide thread.
Bare in mind my center clock mod does not work on 15, I need to update it.
Disable before installation if you have it installed.
If you enable Developer Mode you can install A.15 without Lokal Update app. I just did.
Is strange that is a full rom. It use to be incremental for not unloked bootloader phones from 9 pro, long time 9 pro..

If you try to incremental a few times it'll fail and offer the full zip..
However if you do not use the local updater then it will reboot automatically after installation, meaning you will lose root, hence the need for the local update APK

Rooting isn't an issue, flashing firmwares / changing region is the problem, there's no risk to rooting.
