Storage help with Root on S10 5G - Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Questions & Answers

I'm not sure what I've done wrong, but my s10 5g, SM-G977G storage is showing as 32GB in the settings even though the phone is 256GB, any help would be appreciated. Photo showing what I mean has been attached.
Thanks

Strange... Mine is showing 128GB (is 128 GB) internal storage.
Has it shown the correct capacity before you rooted the phone?
Maybe try to unroot it, and check if it is fixed.
Have you installed/used secure folder?
AFAIK secure folder is not supported after rooting. Just guessing...

Just got Sprint Tab. So many questions

I had a wifi only Tab before so I'm not unfamiliar with Tab devices. Or so I thought. I bought a Sprint Tab off Woot recently. I sold the Wifi Tab on ebay and basically traded up for better hardware at no cost.
Anyway, the Tab from Sprint came in today and I find I have two questions.
1. This Tab appears to have no internal memory. When I go to settings for the SD card, it only sees my external card. That's also all that maps on my computer. The Wifi Tab had either 8 or 16 gb internal plus and external card. Is this normal?
2. I was under the impression that I was going to have to activate this thing with Sprint for at least a month. That doesn't appear to be the case though. It does gripe at me to activate, but doesn't seem to be forcing me to do so and even without being activated has pulled down at least two OTA updates. Is this normal?

Your internal memory is not an sd card. It isn't listed in that section.

Pulling down the updates occurs over wifi, it will happen regardless of CDMA service.
If you want to get rid of the hassles:
First root, use superoneclick, its the easiest method.
Then use a program such as root uninstaller to uninstall sprintadroidextension.apk (you can also freeze it, allegedly).
Once you do this, be aware that if Sprint updates it won't download properly and start harassing you about that instead (albeit less frequently). The only solutions are to reflash back to stock and then update, or modify your build.prop file to change the build id (I used remount and notepad to do it).

I rooted with SuperOneClick and now have these OTA's downloading... I'm wondering what the pro's and con's are with taking these two OTA's? Have you already rooted prior to taking the OTA's?

No, I got the OTA's before rooting. I turned it on and one was there. It rebooted and another was there right away.
Well I guess I'll find out when I get home if it loses root, which I assume can be restored again... rather, I hope :]
I guess next for me is recovery... seems like the UnLocker page has a nice write up, but I seen mixed reviews on Sprint tabs. I always have a certain degree of comfort when I'm able to backup/recover.
You given that any thought yet? Or you keeping it stock?
Honestly, the only reason I root is because of backup. I like being able to get a core level backup with Titanium and I like being able to restore all of my apps plus all their data on a new device. I've rooted every tablet I've owned (all three of them) but never tried to flash a new ROM or even considered it.

I hear that! My intentions for buying this was simply to modify it to run HC once Spacemoose gets a stable build up.

I'm thinking I may give this a shot to get CWM recovery... debating if I want to chance screwing up my device on day 1 though :]

You can try and format the sd card or, hook up the phone to your computer and delete the photos folder from your computer.
Something else that could be restoring it is Kies software I believe.
I know that sd card data can recovery but google drive?????

How To Recover deleted holiday photos & Videos on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

I've somehow just deleted all my holiday photos on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
They were all stored in the phone memory.
I've read the only way to recover most of them is to use some sort of external software like EaseUS mobile software for android.
But for it to work my phone has to be rooted.
Looking at various root methods it gets confusing as they say it wipes your phones internal memory which will wipe all the photos if they are still there?
My Galaxy Note 8 is a SM-N950F build number NMF26X.N950FXXU3BRA9.
Most internet recovery software for purchase like DR Fone and Fonelab appear to be scams and I'm sceptical they will work.
Ay advice on recovery solutions would be most welcome.
Thanks in Advance.:crying:

Just wanted to mention.....I'm pretty sure by default the gallery app backs up pics to the cloud (when connected to wifi) if you never disabled this setting (i do) its possible your pics are backed up to your samsung account....
Sent from my God Mode 8
+1 for automatic backup from gallery or Google photos if you have that installed.
I'm not certain about file recovery on Android, however I do know you should refrain from using the storage if you plan on recovering data from it.
M curious how you deleted them in the first place? Try connecting phone to laptop and run recuva on the dcim/ camera folder. May work?

If he was rooted and Odin flashed a stock ROM, especially with CSC (as opposed to Home-CSC), it could wipe the internal storage.
I flashed home-CSC but kept getting bootlops so I had to do a factory reset from stock recovery, losing all my data.
The pain for me was realising Samsung Restore isn't on the same level as Titanium backup restore. I had to sign jinto ALL my apps again.
Try an app called diskdigger
Sort of fixed.
Thanks every body for your replies.
Not sure how I deleted them thought I was deleting one photo but it was a stinking hot day in Singapore 34 C (feels like 39 C) I was choked up with a bad head cold I picked up in Thailand via Vietnam, just not thinking properly. Things were bound to go wrong as the SD card died at the start of the trip that's why the photos ended up in the phone memory.
While I couldn't recover the full photos and videos without root, I did run disk digger and it recovered the thumbnails of the photos while they are at a smaller resolution of 960 x467 compared the original resolution of 5000 odd x 2000 odd its better than nothing.
I have resized them up a little bit they look Ok but not as great as the original definition would have been.
My wife no longer wants to kill me so all is well. Videos are lost but I can live with that.
One would think samsung would have a failsafe program where you could recover from the phone memory but that's obviously too hard for them to do these days as they push everyone to the cloud for more potential revenue.
Thanks everyone again.
U can download diskdigger or undeleter from the play store if your rooted

Question Usb storage solution

Hello all.
I got stuck with the 128g model s21 ultra because they had no stock of any of the other sizes with tmo. Of course, now my trial period is up, they have the 256 in stock. -.-
Anyway. I purchased a T7 drive to use as supplemental storage since there are no options out there for SD cases for this phone.
Problem is, my note 10+, I miss it already, was able to pick the drive up and read it in the Gallery app. I was able to peruse the photos and vids on the t7 with no issue. The s21 gallery app refuses to acknowledge the drive exists.
Is there a gallery app that can be set to read usb storage as well? Or am I stuck with having to use the lackluster files app?
Thanks

What filesystem are you using on the T7?
To answer properly. I just formated the T7 drive using my phone. PC states it as exfat.
@gravija
You don't need OTG file mgr for T7. I use regular USB-C cable w/my S21U and as soon as I connect it to unlocked phone it shows that small 'read only partition'(pic1) then after unlocking T7 (w/fingerprint) it shows actual files on the drive (pi2>pic3).
You can also see the T7 in Device Care under Storage > 3 dots> Advanced > Storage(on the bottom)
All this is pretty much straightforward, firstly I would check everything on PC, make sure you have you password and fingerprint set and verify that you can access the drive on PC.
One more important thing, make sure you always unmount the T7 after using it w/ PC or phone.

Ouch. No way I trade my 10+ for something with less storage. Flash sticks are awkward... maybe use cloud storage. Not something I normally recommend... however.
Nexus photo viewer could help.
Instructables has a basic guide to make a phone case with an OTG connection and SD Card built-in. May the case manufacturers are missing a niche market here?

I had no choice. My phone was almost completely unuseable with all the failed phone calls, both incoming and outgoing. Then the fact I could not get text messages to go out all the time. Tmo absolutely refused to replace my phone with the same model, saying the same problem will just continue. They also claimed they could not get the 5g variant of the 10+.

I got my t7 to show up now too. I had to format it using the formwat option and not use the samsung app. BUT, my main issue now if that the drive does not integrate into the OS at all. Seems to be all devices recently. I was looking to not have to use different apps, video players, file browsers... All just to view or edit the files between both internal storage and the t7 drive I am using.
Basically. I would like to find a single gallery that can see both my internal storage and external storage at the same time. As it stands now, I have to have a file browser to browse the T7 and then I need to use a different Gallery app and different Video app just to browse the files. In tune, I need to to have a Gallery for my internal storage, a video player, music player, photo viewer, and a browser just for the external drive.
Hook up yer t7 and browse to a video, try to play it from the t7 using the video player. The samsung video player will give you an error. Same with opening a photo and or music file. They will only work once transfered to internal storage.

I tried Nexus. It would not even see the T7 drive at all. I am finding this is more an issue of Googles "Scoped storage" update change. ALL of this is. Basically adaptable storage is on its way out.

The 4G variant streams movies fine. It's probably the more desirable variant because it uses the Snapdragon* chipset and doesn't suffer excessive battery consumption that the first generation 5G phones were notorious for.
The 21U is apparently suffering display blackout issues in some phones of this model. There's at least one thread on XDA about it. Samsung is being less than transparent about it.
*I may be mistaken but I think all the Snapdragon variants are 4G.
Wait, you can password-protect these things?

Yeah. Tmobile straight up lied about the availability of the 4g models. As I called sprint after the fact to have them fix my voicemail, which TMobile said there was nothing they could do to fix it on their end. (Sprint tech had it fixed in 10 minutes mind you.) Anywho. I had no issues with my note 10+ until I got on the Tmobile sim card. A sprint tower in my area went offline and I no longer had reliable service. Im a medical case and need to have a a phone for emergency calls. (No house phone.) Uhm sorry I am off topic.
Yeah. My s21 was not new. It is a remanufacted phone that was previously sent in for BSoD. It was cheaper than the new one monthly and I still got a sign on deal with it. I have to give Tmo credit for helping me there... But I also see it as them just doing retention work. If the phone fails again for black screen, like my friend, who is on his third s21+, I am going to ask for a different phone. This phone is nice, but not worth it over my note 10+. I am sick of this limited storage already. Having to keep an extra battery, carry around my portable storage and cable. The thing overheats constantly. I am also still having problems with RCS and text messages not working.
Now, in doing research into this recently I am finding out Google is apparently dropping support for apks now?

Well I use T7 as convenient way to transfer/piggyback/store files between S21U and desktop, the encryption is protected by the fingerprint sensor so, according to Samsung your files on T7 are encrypted and safe. When I plug it into pc or phone the fingerprint sensor lights up and to open the storage you have to match the enabled fingerprint. All that works fine as OTG storage but I also have Pixel phone and I can't use T7 with it because of different sf and that sucks, can't have the T7 OTG convenience to extract any files from Pixel w/o re-formatting each time the drive between fat32 and ntfs.

Question internal storage problem

First sorry for my english, I'm using a translator. Well, my cell phone is a Poco M3 Pro 5g with 64gb of storage, but some time ago I noticed that in some applications it only shows 48gb, also the same thing when I connect it to the pc,MiuiBetachina"
Only 48GB is available for use, rest is reserved for system that's why it's not shown in there. There is no problem, it's normal.
