DT2W for Gucci anyone? - Redmi Note General

I know this device (Gucci) has been the ancient at this time.
And i'm still love this device for daily use, even i'm already have Helium & Whyred for HD gaming.
But my big question is this device (Gucci) support for DT2W (Double Tap to Wake) anyone?
Position my device is Redmi Note 1s 4G a.k.a Gucci, Kernel 3.10.28-g67b77fb, and using MIUI 6.3(1) in Andoid 4.4.4.
Please reply my question ASAP & thanks before...

Official Linux kernel for Meizu Pro 5 smartphone (Exynos second wind)

Guys, I want to congratulate all, Meizu has posted the source code of Linux kernel for Meizu Pro 5. This means that the Note 4 (with Exynos Kernel) has a chance to become even much better. I ask all developers who are still developing kernel, please port something!
Meixu Pro 5 (M576) - GitHub
Wow that'd be really cool. @djmax81 any chance that you'd be able to cook that in your kernel??? I've seen in live action the Meizu pro 5 and it is an incredibly fast phone....
It's not even on the same SoC, so what are we expecting it to tell us? The 5433 files are pretty much the same as the stock Samsung ones - they even same the same typos in them.

Cool thing huh @RaymanFX hopefully it gonna be useful for you. :good: :good: :good:
Isn't the driver sources the one that is missing, not the kernel sources since samsung already provides it?
I heard what the developer of ultimate kernel said, that meizu made totally new termodriver, "meizu-thermal". Where Note 5 have throttling (1.1Ghz - 1.3Ghz) - Meiuzu stably keep 2.1Ghz and very rarely fall to 1.7Ghz. At same time this phone is warm but not hot. Meizu GPU work with disabled DVFS and it's frequency hold on max 772Mhz. Also Meizu has double tap to wake, and wake gestures that don't drain battery. With a similar hardware Meizu has 8-8.5 hours... So Meizu has much better software then Samsung.
p.s. uk developer bought meizu pro 5....

Does goodix fp works on this?

Quite smooth , no hotplugging and no real gain compared to AGNi 2.5
Fp working great (FPC)

Thanks for the feedback!
Just flashed this kernel, looks pretty smooth.
cam works, videos don't work with Google cam.
Got no deep sleep. Same problem as with agni.
I'm thinking that it might be caused by the cam.
I'm on aicp 12,with stock kernel my cam doesn't work but I have perfect deep sleep. On kernels where my cam works I don't get any deep sleep anymore. Other assumption would be wifi, even tho it works perfect.
Please let me know what infos you need?

Is it worth buying Redmi 4x in Q3 2018?

Hello folks. I've been using Moto X Style for about a 1,5 year and I'm tired. Development is slowing down, the phone is really big (my previous one was LG L90). For some time I was looking for a nice, compact smartphone with good battery and decent price. Redmi 4X seems to fit my needs, but is it worth buying now? As far as I know the longer battery is kept unused, the worst condition it has - is 4X still being produced? How about development - how many LOS version may this phone get yet? How is battery life?
Or are there newer models which could fill my needs? 150mm height is too much for me; I like compact smartphones - otherwise I would get Lenovo P2 - that is a beast. Actually I tought that Sony Xperia XA2 would be nice, but that price...
What do you guys think?

As I mentioned, 150mm height is too much. I wish I had more compact smartphone.
Redmi 4x's android version range is 6-8 and thanks to treble we booted android p dev previews. About battery life my SoT records are: RR Luis build nougat 8hr 35min RR Luis build oreo 8h 12min android p dev preview 7h 3min
Project Treble seems promising. I wonder how long Android will keep compatibility with it. How about your opinions, then? Do you like this smartphone? Are you happy with it? Would you buy it again?

My previous phone was zenfone 6 (6 inch display x86 cpu) I was in your situation. It isnt even fit on pocket, lack of development, etc. Redmi 4x seems fine after 6 inch junk. 5 inch display, more custom rom support, Camera is amazing with gcam (miui default cam is fine too), 8 core cpu. Gaming performance is great and also it is cheap. Im definitely happy with redmi 4x

If u want to compact phone, santoni is best choice
Redmi 4X has several ROM's even project treble supported ROM's too.
Custom kernels available too.Development is quite good.
I think xiaomi less likely to make 5inch device in future too because as they are releasing newer devices in the range of 5.5 to 5.9 inches. For e.g. Redmi 6 has 5.5 inch display Maybe they produce 5 inch display phone with tight budget in future e.g. Redmi 4A.
I would say at least go for SD 625 device if there is any 5 inch device.
You've mentioned you might go for Lenovo P2 which has 5.5 inch display considering this Redmi 5 would be fine since it has 5.7 inch display and SD 450 and it's better than SD 435 and has same GPU as SD 625.
If there's any xiaomi store out there near by you live then try out newer xiaomi device yourself to get better decision on which device to get.
SD 435 is based on 28nm technology and now almost all new SD chipsets are based on 14nm or lower so it's better to get this devices.
With using only mobile data on Redmi 4X I do need to charge device in evening or night.
With mix usage it lasts 1½ days which translates roughly around 8 hours of sot. On MIUI 8 I used to get around 10hours of sot.
If you buy Redmi 4X now there's very chance that your phone will have white color notification LED.
Do let us know which one you buy
In the end I bought Redmi 4X since it was quite cheap. It fits nice in my hand. I'm not using it as daily yet, but "play" with it now.
Can you suggest me some nice custom roms (with as little bugs as possible)? Or maybe miui is the way to go (global or xiaomi.eu?). I just wish I could deactivate fingerprint scanner (I don't use it, but touching it with finger accidentaly wakes phone) and remove/disable some google apps. I heard root on miui is available on xiaomi.eu version.
First(I am sure you know it) get device's bootloader unlocked, it a quiet hectic process and will take few days.
The custom ROM's I'll recommend you are list below.
I have personally tried all of them and they are pretty good almost bugless, with good battery backup.
I haven't tried any custom kernel so can't say anything about them. If you wish you can try.
All of them are Oreo based.
1. Resurrection Remix OS.
2. DOT OS.
3. Nitrogen OS.
4. Havoc OS.
I recommend the new Xaiomi Mi A2 lite. It´s very handy too.

Any drawabacks on RR? I heard battery does not last as long on custom as on miui. How about camera and flashlight gestures? Can I set double click on power/volume button to trigger them? Or long click?
sorry doublepost
Of course no. Sd 435 is too old for q3 2k18. I think the minimum soc right now is sd636 (redmi note 5, and other phone with that soc). Iam currently using redmi 4x, but I'll trade this phone to a newer xiaomi (I dont have a lot of money, so i'll choose xiaomi)

I didn't faced any bugs since my usage was using social media apps, some photo editing apps, calls, camera (gcam) and playing PUBG mobile and clash royale.
I noticed the battery drain faster while playing pubgm in rr than miui so yes it does eat more battery when comparing it to miui. Using custom kernel you may get good battery life.
When using it on 4G LTE the battery was draining fast too and experienced device to go warm.
Yes, you can set camera button as far as I remember.
The last time i used rr was in last two weeks of April and early few days of May.
Last build was released in April and later there's no update made available yet.
I think we'll be looking at directly Android P based rr in next update.
To get latest security patch and Android P experience I moved to DOT OS and it's a good build and it also has all the customization that are available in rr and so does the havoc OS.
In my opinion all custom ROM's doesn't have battery backup like MIUI but it's not bad it's decent.
Flashlight gesture I don't know I didn't tried that but it should be available there.
Currently I am using MIUI 10 Global beta and battery backup is good I get SOT around 8 hours with mix usage but again when using 4G LTE it drops down to 4 or 5 hours of SOT.
Battery saver helps a little bit so it's turned on all the time.

I am currently using AOSP EXTENDED. It is smooth and bugless. It's Oreo based.
Use havoc os with phantom kernel (thunder plug hotplug) (alucard governor) you'll be amazed. HAVOC OS > Dot OS in both battery life and performance and fluidity.
10+ SOT

10+ hours of SOT is just fantastic.
I(or rather we) used to had such SOT on MIUI 8.
I'll try this combinations soon in few days, currently on MIUI 10 Global beta 8.8.2.
Does firmware version matter?

No, this is not related to refresh rate, it's chaning the metohd of adjust brightness from PWM duty ratio to direct current.
Is there a way to use this with a other kernel? Kernel-addon or so (Im not a expert - thats why im asking)?
Because OP of blue_spark Kernel , eng.stk, will not implement this in his kernel...
I went ahead and tested on my device. For those interested Night mode does turn on when you activate it manually, however it does not stay on once the screen is turned off. Not sure if this messes with the kernel but I'm leaving it off just in case. Also, this will overwrite Magisk so flash this then Magisk to maintain root.
No issues otherwise, thank you for letting us know about the PWM curve, I hadn't seen the information in post #6 before. Maybe you could throw that link in the OP for others to see? I'm testing it with cf.lumen and magisk at the moment to substitute for night mode and I'll let you all know if it is a suitable substitute. Thank you for sharing the kernel with us!

Hello, thanks for your reply, because night mode uses same interface with my driver, so it will be overridden. The purpose for me to released this kernel is to share my flicker-free design, I hope it can be ported to other kernels and devices.

Yes, it's already implemented on galaxy S7/S8, but the method on the S7/S8 is changing the display register, which is hard to port.

pappschlumpf has implemented that when night mode is turned on flickerfree mods are disabled and viceversa.
This is not 100% working because under some color profiles it doesn't work because oos is not updating the night mode status.

Well I wanna know, the flicker free kernel is the sole option for us not to use Low frequency PWM dimming in the low brightness.. A kernel may tweak the system and trick it with DC dimming instead of low Frequency PWM when brightness is low, but one thing emerges.. is this kernel is unofficial, it seems to discontinue at any time
So there is another solution out there, the OLED Saver in Play store... it prevents your phone reaches relatively low brightness which may trigger the Flicker caused by low frequency PWM dimming, but you sacrifice you eye exposing a brighter display in a relatively dark environment at night which is no good.
Finally,
Xiaomi Mi 9 and Meizu is said to work on this, very possibly, they will tweak their kernel, add a flipper switch in the ROM interface to always running DC dimming...
I guess only when the official kernel defaultly support always on DC dimming, then the custom ROMs of that model will truly have the same Feature
If the official kernel does support that always DC dimming options.. then the massive adoption of flickerfree AMOLED display can truly begin
By then, rest in piece, our old phones which can't receive an official flickerfree kernel (DC dimming kernel or high frequency PWM kernel)
For those old ones, we use the OLED Saver APP to prevent flicker and tolerate a brighter display at night
For those new phones..Pray that this flickerfree display official kernel will be happening this time and later on forever..
Then
There will be no more eye strain and fatigue due to the flicker???
Would love to see more development of this feature! I'm a medical technician in Ophthalmology, so I really want to protect my eyes after seeing what I've seen for so long.

Question MI 11 CUSTOM KERNEL

Hellow everyone,
There is a custom kernel for mi 11?
What u guys recommend to me? I'm having PUBG mobile lag and screen freeze so I have debloated my phone and now I'm up to a custom kernel and a tutorial for oc..
Thanks everyone who helped
You running a custom ROM? Should perform much better than miui. Try Pixel Experience. It will have a better kernel than miui too
If it's got gaming performance drop the screen resolution too.. though lag maybe network as well

Hellow, I'm using miui debloated ROM, it improve a lot the performance. I try pixel experience, evolution x A11 and don't like, both have bug that I dislike so I had to uninstall...
Was trying to go for Cr droid but since I had debloated my phone is fine to play games.
Sir, now i want to overclock and uv my phone in konabess, do u know if sd 888 5g is supported? And if it is, by any chance do you know any txt file for mi 11 to share?
