LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. I Tried this rom , I would say it is the best rom available because A10 .
I would recommend this rom for sure , it is very stable , everything works just fine !!
It has been 4-5 hrs since i flashed and have gone through every setting in the rom and found no bug ! (except double tap to wake does not work)
Love you developer for your work ♥

Great job, thanks to the author. Everything works really well.

Thanks a lot for the ROM and all your hard work..
you are keeping the tab alive..
@highwaystar_ru just curious to know, if u have merged some changes from the source code that lenovo released lately..

Does this work on the tab4 10??

Review after 20 days.
The ROM is smoother than LOS16.
Idle drain has reduced a lot.
Few minor bugs (in bt and few apps) that were in LOS16 are also fixed.
Best rom that keeps my tab good as new.
Thanks a lot...

.

I can't get it to flash. TWRP has been sitting for hours at:
Unmounting System...
Target: Lenovo/LenovoTB-X304:/X304L:8.1.0/0PM1.171019029/S001017_190709_ROW:user/release-keys
EDIT: Fixed by flashing TWRP instead of just booting it. The steps I followed were:
Install the Lenovo Driver from here
Install fastboot and adb on your PC, e.g. from here
Enable developer options and in there select to unlock your bootloader by enabling OEM unlock and enable USB debugging
Connect your PC to your tablet and run
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
using adb on command line. The tablet will reboot into bootloader mode where you will only see the text on the screen. Now you use
Code:
fastboot oem unlock-go
to unlock. This will factory reset your device
Setup the tablet again, enable USB debugging, and reboot again to the bootloader
Download tbx304-twrp-3.4.0-20201207.img (TWRP) from the OP
Then run
Code:
fastboot boot tbx304-twrp-3.4.0-20201207.img
to temporarily boot into TWRP.
Select to keep system read only when TWRP starts to avoid modification which will make OTAs impossible
In TWRP, go to WIPE, click on "Format Data" in the lower right, and follow the instructions.
Go back to the TWRP home screen, choose "Reboot", and click "Recovery"
In TWRP, go to the Backup tab, and backup the boot, recovery, and system image. Keep this backup for OTA updates.
Go back to the TWRP home screen, hit the reboot button in TWRP, and choose "Bootloader".
Then run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery tbx304-twrp-3.4.0-20201207.img
to permanently install TWRP.
Once installed, press the volume button until it says "Recovery Mode" in red letters on the top, then hit the power button to boot back into TWRP.
Load the LineageOS zip file from your computer onto the tabled by using
Code:
adb push [NAME_OF_LINEAGE_ZIP_FILE] /sdcard/
. If you are going to install gapps (Google Play Store, etc.), download it from here and push it to the tablet the same way
From the TWRP home screen, go to Install and install the LineageOS zip file. Once that is completed, repeat the process to install gapps, if you're using them.
Select the option to reboot. If everything worked correctly, it should boot into LineageOS.

Hey so I sent you a private message

Thank you for this amazing rom. Working perfectly in my Lenovo Tab4 10 TB-X304L and also call and everything is working but call are not that stable....anyway thank you very much.

Amazing ROM so far. Thank you very much for working on custom roms for our old tablet.
Has anyone experienced issues with the Dual Shock 4? It doesn't work at all. In the previous ROM (16) there was a known kernel issue which prevented the mapping from working. Now, it is connecting (even tried with an USB cable OTG) but only for charging. Weird. An old Afterglow X1 works like a charm, though---without even using 1Controller addon for Magisk.
Any help is appreciated.

On X304L working very well Great work

Wasted lots of time until I found your reply - installed this on a 4 10, works like a charm. Thanks @highwaystar_ru and @ahecht! You rock!
Is there a chance we will see 18.1 on these devices soon, and maybe have them officially supported?
Any way I can help?
I've got decades of Linux experience, but not as a dev, and flashing Android devices is rather new for me...

Hello
I have installed the 17.1 rom but I am stuck on the first boot at the LOS boot logo (6 hours..)
Any idea why?
I have a X304X (not very commom but very close to X304L or F)
Thanks

Both ROMs are not signed so no migration is necessary.
Backup in twrp and then wipe the caches and system.
Do not wipe the data.

Thanks for this ROM, amazing that I now have android 8.1 on this device. Only issue I can see is that OpenGapps doesn't yet support 8.1 so flashing older versions (at least when I tried 8.0) results in an error

Edit: got recovery by Terminal. When i get my root back, then i will be happy

Activate and open the Developer Settings, tick on the Terminal. Then type into the Terminal "reboot recovery", maybe you need before to type in "su". Then you hopefully can boot into your Recovery and get SuperSU.
I also cannot boot to Recovery by pressing Vol down and Power. After i flashed SU, i installed a Root App for booting to Recovery. This Solution is actually the best.
I typed reboot recovery at terminal the command cannot be found

A bug with your unit or this Rom?
this rom... no problem with lineage 14.1.....this is just a minor bug
thank You! I've been waiting from december for this, enter to this forum time to time, my tablet its gonna be so happy...
First thanks a lot for the effort!
I tried the new 15.1 build, it looks great, the only bug I recognized is ghost touches. So if I use the screen keyboard suddenly it's gone because of a ghost touch to a different screen region.
There's a developer option to show fingertipps on the screen so I can see that there's touches on parts of the screen where there are in fact none.
I don't have this behavior with lineage 14.1. on the same device (flashed back and forth between the versions).
Also there's an option to set the touch reaction time to "long" but that didn't fully solve the problem.
Thank you Very much! Great work!!

hi guys, I'm new here ...great forum, great knowledge
i would ask, if that is a general problem with the recovery.
i had an crash, don't know why, and had to reflash the tablet. so recovery via terminal was not possible.
is power +volume down now working? i would like to test that image.
thanks for help and answer ...

This TWRP build has special function Sign boot which you have to click after install new version of ROM or mod like Magisk. It will append stock boot signature to your boot partition. This allows to boot with locked bootloader.
TWRP with Boot Sign function screenshots:
Fortunately you dont need to unlock bootloader, because not every Lenovo tab can be unlocked. Custom kernel and ROM can be runned by appending boot.sig signature extracted from stock rom to boot.img like
Code:
cat boot.img boot.sig > boot-signed.img
It still cant be loaded by fastboot, but you always can flash it from TWRP. You can get boot.sig in my repo https://github.com/HighwayStar/android_device_lenovo_TB8703/blob/cm-14.1/twrp/recovery/root/boot.sig

One bug I found on LOS 14.1, please look at topic from LOS 14.1, and you will see.
8703F
Hotspot doesn't work. I can turn it on but my computer and phone don't see the network; if I turn it on-off-on it causes the tablet to crash into a soft restart. It will then show 'Error'. There is no 5GHZ option when creating a hotspot. I posted this in the other thread aswell.
System/Buttons/Show arrow keys while typing doesn't work in landscape mode. They will appear in the middle of the navigation bar on top of the circle and will make the nav bar unusable.
I don't know if this is a feature, but in landscape mode if I swipe from the right end of the screen towards the center the status bar drops down.
boom! Legend! Thankyou SO much!
@highwaystar_ru has twrp been updated in OP?
I have twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-bootsign.img and cannot mount SD card

lineage 15.1 for lenovo yoga tab 3 plus please
I finally install Lineage OS in My Tablet. I try to install gapps version 8.1.0 ARM 64 from opengapps and then sign the boot partition after flash the gapps. System boots normally but gapps crashes constantly. Any gapps working? Or any information about how to install correctly gapps. Thanks.
**Update**
I just Wipe Data and then sign boot again. Then I configure my device and Now is Working with the Whole Google Apps and is now Android 8.1.0. Thanks for the developer for the Rom
Thanks a lot for your work on this ROM!
I've had exactly same experience with gapps crashing (MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm64-20180223_195845.zip) as maikalex96 above. Wipe fixed the problem. Not feeling adventurous enough to try Open gapps yet.
good:
usual stuff works
WiFi 5GHz works
WiDi / Miracast, Chromecast works
Apk installations/updates are lightning fast compared to 6.0.1 stock
not so good:
bluetooth (albeit disabled) drains battery like crazy in standby - either that or andriod battery stats are not working right (WLAN, display items are not even listed)
no Dolby Atmos in LOS
some useful features removed in Oreo (google seem to be dumbing the system down) - no more WiFi band option (2.4/5), no more WiFi in standby option (on, off, charger on)
not a fan of some Oreo or LOS aesthetics
sound is not routed back to speakers after disconnecting headphones (not always)
not sure about performance, stock 6.0.1 might be a tad more responsive (touch, scrolling)
untested:
phone, lte data
sd card
That's on tb8703x.

So I just realised I hadn't updated TWRP to the new boot-signed version.
It won't let me do flash that via fastboot as it says " FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed " - I assume this is because my bootloader is not unlocked.
I did try using 'fasboot oem unlock" but that does not work.
I tried to use QFIL to flash the updated TWRP but it won't recognise the device on any port as obviously it is not going into stock recovery when - it is going into TWRP...
Any other ideas?
Any help is most appreciated - many thanks in advance.
*******Update #2*****
Thanks to WBN1 as below, all sorted and installed - many thanks!
Will let you know how it goes!
Many thanks again for all your hard work!
flash the updated twrp from within the old twrp. you need to tap on image when flashing so it can see the twrp.img file

Doh!! Lol.. I did try doing it through TWRP but didn't select image as you say!! What a doofus I am !!
Thankyou soooo much!!
Hey there, great ROM! Everything works good here. I only have one question, not directly about the ROM itself... but does anyone know if there is a version of the LOS 14.1 Trebuchet Launcher for using under LOS 15.1 ? I realy hate that new Launcher!
@highwaystar_ru i will try 3 things if i find some free time and sorry i didn't jump sooner on board.
1. Port AOSP Extended to this beauty https://www.aospextended.com/
2. Try to get an official xda forum for this tablet
3. Help you out with PR's in developing.
Great job you have done so far kudos mate.
Congratulations on the job.
any way to use otg and power at the same time? want to use the tablet in the car you need to have the power connected as well as the easycam with the recoil camera
thanks a lot

To install this you have to install TWRP using by QFIL utility, follow this instruction: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/twrp-lenovo-p8-tb-8703f-tb-8703x-t3689442/post76277192
Special TWRP build
To install and boot any custom roms and to boot it after installing mods that change boot partitition like Magisk please use this TWRP:

Fixed long time to wakeup screen in TWRP

mailru: twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-bootsign.img
gdrive: twrp-tb8703-3.2.1-bootsign.img

Just installed it. Upon boot, a message poped up saying there's an internal error in the device, and that I should contact the maker (Lenovo). The message appeared once more before setup. Let's see how it goes now. Has someone else experienced this?
Installed over LOS16, I added GApps and Magisk. Everything is working fine, so far.

Same error message for me. Upgraded from 16.
Installed Rom, gapps, magisk.
But then it's working. But performance seems worse compared to 16. I will give the system a little bit to settle down and check performance again.
Thanks for bringing Android Q to the Tab 3 8 Plus! Going to try it out later today

I had 15, 16 didn't work for me. But I did a factory reset, and then installed. Everything seems fine now, but performance appears to be worse off.

I had the same, but the tablet seems to work great.
BTW. The error message appears on every boot for me. I also did a clean flash with factory reset.
Otherwise I can tell that a clean flash helped for most of the problems. When I upgraded from 16 I had visual glitches and system ui freezing sometimes. These problems are completely gone after doing the clean flash. Only thing that remains is the error message. But this message does not seem to effect the daily work.

Are gapps included in rom
There is no gapps in the rom, you have to download it from opengapps.org if needed.
There are reports about bootloop on wifi version of tablet (LTE version works fine), I will upload fixed version tomorrow.
I'm syncing up the sources on my ROM Kitchen now
What are the install steps if I have lineage 16 already installed. i.e. sufficient to use the existing TWRP. Can I have Dirty flash? etc

Full wipe and reinstall for a major version number release like this, I believe. Dirty flash will almost certainly fail. Your existing TWRP should suffice, but you'll need to reflash gapps when you install los17.1
I've uploaded new version, this should resolve issue with 8704f, please try and report if it works or not. Full adb logcat output on boot are welcome too.

I has no removing telephony apps after installation on WiFi only tablet.
Branch: lineage-17.1
Hi @highwaystar_ru - if I want to run some tests using your sources which branch should I be syncing to? lineage-17.1 for all of them right?
So far, working very well. No crashes or hangs, everything fast and smooth. Two things that don't work are DT2W but this was already known. The other is USB hubs do not work at all. They do not work on LOS 16 either but they do work on LOS14. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.
Great work other than that as usual highwaystar.

I just did a clean install of the latest version (lineage-17.1-20200601-UNOFFICIAL-TB8704.zip) and noted that, although I'm on tb8704f, I can still see the "Messaging" app, which wasn't there when I wasn on 16. Looking at the code highlighted in the github link above I wouldn't expect to see Messaging on my device. I was also asked if I wanted to configure a SIM during the first boot and setup.
I rebooted to TWRP, wiped Dalvik, system, data and cache, pushed lineageos and opengapp (full) zips, then installed and rebooted.

It is working fine on X304L. Check your model version or it may be a hardware issue.
the model is x304l and it is also not a hardware issue as the stock rom and twrp recovery work fine. (the recovery and the rom provided here are the only ones where im facing this issue). im currently typing this from my stock rom on my tablet.
