PLEASE HELP ME, NUBIA Z20 BRICKED - ZTE Nubia Z20 Questions & Answers

Can anyone please help me? I'm running out of options and I'm trying everything I can, I had a completely functional Nubia Z20 with global ROM in Android 9 but I wanted Android 11 so I installed the ROM easily from the phone itself and everything installed correctly but I didn't know it was a Chinese ROM, so I tried to go back and install the stock ROM but then the problem start, I got stuck in that message of "Corrupt Device".
After seen many videos, read in forums, attempts and fails I finally can unlock the bootloader and install TWRP, but I follow exactly the steps everyone recommend here, first before install the ROM I wipe the data, factory reset and now install the stock rom, everything goes fine but when I click on reboot it goes back to the message "Corrupt Device", than I read some post and did exactly what it says, after the installation of the ROM completes I do a factory reset instead of just click on reboot now, but now when I click on reboot it says "There is no O.S installed, do you want to continue?"
So I'm stocked, I don't know what else can I do, please if someone knows something that could help, I WOULD BE THANKFUL.

+1. Same issue. Please help. Installed Chines ROM. Tried to update back to Global and now stuck on "Corrupt Device"
@Alrick920 Can you guide me on the OS thing you did. I haven;t been able to get any sort of progress.

Thanks to the moderator for removing all links now people cannot solve their problems. This is no longer a forum!

Finally I could install the Android 11 CN ROM and the Gapps, it was so hard to do it on my own but I'm going to resume the process.
Well, there's one thing that help me to understand exactly why I was struggling so much to unbrick it, but someone in a video tell me that you can't go back from Android 11 to Android 9, there's something to do with the kernel not being downgradable, so if you install the CN ROM in Android 11 you can't go back, but as we tried to install Android 9 again and it isn't possible you brick your Nubia.
So, what I did was this (I can't give you the links or tell you exactly where I download some thing because I download a lot of things and it's confusing where I got the files), ATTENTION: IF YOUR PHONE SHOWS THE COMPLETELY WHITE NUBIA LOGO WHEN THIS TRIES TO BOOT IT'S BECAUSE YOUR PHONE IT'S BRICK BUT WITH ANDROID 11 SO JUMP DIRECTLY TO STEP 5, IF THE LOGO IT'S RED AND WHITE YOUR STUCK BUT WITH ANDROID 9.
1- Install all the drivers of Nubia Z20, Qualcomm Drivers and the ADB drivers, make sure these are installed correctly by opening the ADB as if you were trying to open the bootloader, put it on fastboot mode, connect to PC and put the command: fastboot devices.
You have to see the serial number of your phone in the window, if that's what it shows, then the drivers are correctly installed.
2. Search from a page the TWRP For Nubia Z20 Android P, that's easy to find, it's a program in some strange language that do everything by itself a just putting the phone in fastboot and press the button in the program.
3. After the install of the TWRP finished select recovery mode in your Nubia Z20, it will open the TWRP, now you have to click on factory reset and then wipe data, after that using a USB and OTG or just transfer directly to the internal storage the CN ROM Android 11 Nubia Z20, the official Nubia page has the ROM, it's the V3.17 and weights around 3.2 GB.
4. Now go to install and look the ZIP, click on it and install the ROM, when it finish, will boot normally.
5. Your phone already will be unbricked, if you are bricked in Android 11, go directly to download the TWRP that I will send you and download the correct CN ROM V3.17 Android 11 and install it, when it boots normally the problem now are the Google Apps, for that we have to download the TWRP for Android 11, that was the difficult part, I HAVE THE DOWNLOAD LINK OF TWRP FOR NUBIA Z20 ANDROID 11, I FOUND IT AFTER A DEEP SEARCH, SEND ME MESSAGE AND I WILL SEND IT TO YOU, apparently the key was searching it as Android R instead of 11, I found the file of the same good person that wanted to help us in a post here and the moderator erased, send me a message and I send you the link.

I was able to solve it thanks to your help and the user JerryYin; THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Issue regarding device corrupted after cn rom installation.
whenever you want to go for the China rom from global rom version 2.15 do not install the latest China rom install China rom version 2.18 first then upgrade to the latest if you will try to install the latest you will just soft brick your device. And if you soft brick your device don't panic just boot into fastboot mode and flash the stock recovery of redemagic 3 into your phone now place either global rom or China rom v 2.18 Into the pendrive and connect to the device otg boot into the stock recovery there you will see a option install update via otg select the option and locate the package and install let the device boot first boot will take 2 to 3 minutes and now your device has been recovered without any tool. PLEASE BEWARE DO NOT INSTALL CHINA ROM WITHOUT UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER CAUSE IF YOU MESS ANYTHING IN INSTALLATION OF CHINA ROM IN A LOCKED BOOTLOADER THERE IS A CHANCE THAT YOU MAY HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.

Unbrick tool only work if you boot to edload mode. Ok

Working M31 root method!

Finally, I just rooted my m31 phone without twrp!
Yes, I used the path method, and no I did not get any infinity boot loop.
It's working perfectly fine, I even installed some magisk modules already like iOS emoji font and unistalled some annoying samsung/google apps!
I'm not so sure if it will work worldwide, but for ZTO versions (Brazil) it worked.
This will certainly delete all your files. Make a backup of what you consider important and do at your own risk.
If you need any evidence that is working or you just let me know how can I help.
1) First of all, I put my phone on the last firmware version, which for me is M315FXXU2ATIB
If you're using a version before that and you have no OTA update available, you can download the firmware in specific websites like sammobile.com samfrew.com or stockrom.net and update it by yourself using Odin
2) With this firmware applied on your phone, make sure to use the boot.img attached on this post and paste it to your phone. Now go to magisk, and choose install, and then "select and patch a file". Magisk will give you a new file.
3) Unlock developer options, then set OEM unlocking to unlock your bootloader, and enable USB Debugging.
There's a lot of internet pages teaching this step
4) Shutdown your phone. Press and hold volume up and volume down at same time, hold it and then plug usb cable. Release up and down buttons, and on the next screen press Up to go to the bootloader.
5) Once there, open Odin, click on AP and select the magisk_patched.tar it will take like 2 or 3 seconds. You should see PASS on Odin and your M31 is probably restarting at this point. That's all, your M31 is rooted.
Big thanks to stockroom.net for the files!

The img attached is the very same img on the AP file, which means is the original img. Is attached just to make it easy instead of make people extract the file manually.
You have to make sure you have the same firmware installed on your phone as the img before doing the process. It's working perfectly fine on my phone. If your phone became unstable you surely can go back to the stock firmware again using Odin, but the problem is probably the update you tried to do considering is not safe to update a root phone
Take a look here for updating a rooted phone

Thank you for taking some time to explain the origin of the file, your method is working fine, and it is using magisk to root the device, it worked for my device which had the indian firmware, but its the same as the one rolling in brazil, the concern is that after unlocking the bootloader, factory resetting and installing the magisk created boot file, and running the update from magisk manager (because it requires it for some reason) the check comes out negative, i don't remeber exactly what it said but it was all in red and says that the check failed, honestly i don't understant this part maybe i didn't have to let magisk update & restart (also after trying to open build.prop editor for the first time and granting access it crased a restarted again).
Anyway, the main reason for me trying to root my device, was to enable camera2api to be able to use gcam ports properly, in which i failed miserably, apparently exynos processors aren't easy to enable camera2api using terminal, which renders the root futile in my case. I locked the bootloader and flashed the official rom again and it's working fine.
Thank you again and i hope some developer takes his precious time to make a good guide from rooting to usable gcam.
Can we update without losing root and data ?

I don't think it's your fault for not being able to edit build.prop, from what I know it's a known issue with Android 10. You can check that on several websites. Have a look at this pages:
https://didgeridoohan.com/magisk/Magisk#hn_Cant_edit_system_files
And it looks like this guy found a solution by remounting, but I think is risky:

Install Root Checker to check if you actually have root access and made the process correctly. If not, you have to make it again following step by step carefully.
Once the process is finished and you have root access, go to magisk and allow the app you're using to see the system folder to have access through magisk.
To uninstall apps, I advice you to use this app, because at least on my M31, even Lucky Patcher and TitanumBackup wasn't able to uninstall system apps:

Good to know. Thank you for the feedback
The method does not work on my European version (DBT) with *System as Root*.
Tried to use just the patched boot.img as suggested here (fail message in Odin) and the patched full AP file as suggested on Magisk website (reboots to download until reflashing the stock ROM).

you need to patch boot.img from the firmware that is currently installed, and not the one that is offered. Then, after the firmware, immediately go into recovery and do Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe Cache Partition. And then reboot into the system

I had extracted the boot.img from my current firmware (M315FXXU2ATIC from SEP2020 with One UI 2.1 and new bootloader), patched it, flashed the tar via Odin, here I got the "failed" message in Odin.
Can you reconfirm if your Samsung firmware version has also System as root? Which region do you use?

I am from Ukraine, I am not strong in English, please excuse me. I will write in Russian, I hope you will understand.
After many unsuccessful attempts by various methods, I was overcome by paranoia and I began to do everything that was possible, perhaps not necessary.
1. Installed the latest Ukrainian region SEK - M315FXXU2ATIC with One UI 2.1 used CSC_OMC_OXM_M315FOXM2ATI6
2. Copied AP_M315FXXU2ATIC_CL19748244_QB34588175_REV00_user_ low_ship_meta_RKEY_OS10.tar to your phone
3. Installed CANARY from the forum 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=774072 registration required to download
4. Patched all AP_M315FXXU2ATIC.
5. Copied magisk_patched.tar to computer
6 Opened magisk_patched.tar in 7zip and removed everything except boot.img vbmeta.img recovery.img.lz4
7. Deleted Google account, made a hard reset in the phone
8. Once again, enter Recovery and again Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe Cache Partition.
9. Initial setup without registration with Google and Samsung
10. Shutdown.
11. Entering the download mode - holding down both volume buttons and then connecting the cable.
in Odin auto reboot - remove the bird
12. I asked for magisk_patched.tar = bootloop
13. Deleted recovery.img.lz4 stitched = bootloop
14. Removed vbmeta.img I only asked for boot.img
15. Reboot as soon as the screen goes out immediately enter recovery
16.Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe Cache Partition again.
17. Finally, from recovery, reboot into the system.
Root received. System files are edited (deleted, renamed, file permissions, folders are created, etc.)
2. Скопировал AP_M315FXXU2ATIC_CL19748244_QB34588175_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_RKEY_OS10.tar на телефон
3. Установил CANARY с форума 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=774072 для скачивания необходима регистрация
4. Patched всю AP_M315FXXU2ATIC.
5. Скопировал magisk_patched.tar на компьютер
6 Открыл magisk_patched.tar в 7zip и удалил все кроме boot.img vbmeta.img recovery.img.lz4
7. Удалил учетную запись Google, сделал полный сброс (hard reset) в телефоне
8. Еще раз вход в Recovery и снова Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe Cache Partition.
9. Начальная настройка без регистрации в Google и Samsung
10. Выключение.
11. Вход в режим download - зажатые обе кнопки громкости и затем подключение кабеля.
в Odin auto reboot - снять птичку
12. Прошил magisk_patched.tar = bootloop
13. Удалил recovery.img.lz4 прошил = bootloop
14. Удалил vbmeta.img прошил только boot.img
15. Перезагрузка, как только экран погас сразу вход в recovery
16. снова Wipe data / factory reset and Wipe Cache Partition.
17. И наконец из recovery перезагрузка в систему.
Root получен. Системные файлы редактируются (удаляются, переименовываются, права файлам, папки создаются и.т.д.)
@gigabyteua
Just a friendly FYI my friend. If you would please review XDA Rule #4, and post accordingly, we would be very appreciative.

I am assuming your device is soft bricked and you have access to some good internet and twrp is still working and partitions have not been corrupted and unlocked bootloader and very important your device is Redmi K20 pro aka MI 9T PRO(as you have posted in wrong section. i have to assume xD)...
By following these steps you will reset your device to stock miui.
You will require a PC/laptop and type c data cable
1: Download miui fastboot rom from the official site
2: reboot your device in fastboot mode
3: install mi flash tool
4: open mi flash tool
5: hopefully it automatically installs the drivers (if not search google for Qualcomm drivers and download/install the same)
6: connect the device to pc via cable
7: your device should detect in the flash tool
8: extract the downloaded fastboot rom.
9: select the folder containing the rom in the flash tool
10: *(VVI)at the bottom of the tool click on "clear all wipe"(very important step else you may hardbrick your device)
11: click start and wait until your device reboots itself
12: unplug the cable and enjoy
ps: some mi flash tool may not work try with different versions if newer doesn't works try older.
Thank you hope this helps....Do press thanks if this helps you.
This is the official guide to flashing MIUI
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
You will need to view the page in desktop mode if using a mobile browser.
It basically gives you the procedure given in the previous post, with the benefit of pictures.
It also has a link to the latest official version of the Mi Flash Tool, which should work with no problems.
Get the fastboot ROM from here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphael/
Choose the correct region for the phone. Mi 9T Pro will be either European or global. Also make sure you download the fastboot ROM.
This site does not host the files, but provides links to the official versions on the official Xiaomi servers, so you can be sure what you flash is safe and untouched.

Question I got stuck after download some Updates via OTA

Hi there
I am a newbie of Xiaomi Phone. I got a used Mi 11 Ultra phone from a reputable eBay User. My phone is currently installed with a stable version called MIUI 13/.0 (V13.0.12.0.SKACNXM STABLE). Since I am new to this phone, I click on system updates and managed to download a file called xiaomi.eu_Multi_M11Pro_M11Ultra_V13.0.13.0.SKACNXM_618A7FFAB_V13-12.ZIP Via OTA Updates.
After I click on the Updates Button, I got a screen with a green button : "Check MD5 & Install", after a while, I got a pop up screen says :Your device supports "Seamless System Updates",
I click on the OK button, also click on the OK button for the internal storage is encrypted.
Finally, to ask me whether I would like to continue to install the Updates, I choose YES and end up stuck at the Main Menu with 5 choices: Reboot, Wipe Data, Connect with MiAssistant, Safe Mode and Repair Mode. There are no choice for me to install the Updates.
Can someone give me a hand please ?
Many thanks in advance.

start with Repair Mode if it doesn't work Wipe Data(your data will be erased).
I tried both options but not working
Try installing TWRP recovery (permanent flash not just fastboot boot TWRP.img) and then retry the installation.

I don't have a Xiaomi account. The phone is working but cannot install updates properly because of the seamless updates.

Ok, what do you want to do, update it to Chinese version or flash another version?
Do you know the Xiaomi EU roms?
For me looks like ROM what you had before was FASTBOOT installed xiaomi.eu stable, and then they started rolling out TWRP updates, and because you didn't have TWRP its reboot in stock recovery ?...
Can you boot into TWRP from this link:https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...eamwin-recovery-project.4374111/post-87360425
Please use this fastboot command
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
, first TWRP boot will be in Chinese language, please change it to English, enter your unlock PIN, then find this update file downloaded by updater.
Let us know if that's help
I'm right, your current ROM is a FASTBOOT version (so without TWRP)
Checked on the download website

You didn't focus on details ,my friend
He has already installed xiaomi.eu custom ROM, if you closely check his pictures from his first post - Updater app downloaded new version of xiaomi.eu CUSTOM ROM, so yeah he has already unlocked bootloader, and installed FASTBOOT version of CUSTOM ROM, the version what Updater app downloaded was released to be installed with TWRP (he didn't have TWRP on his phone yet) - so he need boot into TWRP and install update manually.

because after flashing the ROM, it is asked to continue booting.
obviously if the phone is no longer linked this will not be a problem
Hi gomcse2002,
Has your problem been solved?
If so, how did you do it, if you don't mind me asking.
I've had the same exact concern on my Mi 11 Ultra, which sadly has NOT been resolved yet.
Thanks.
Which rom(full name)?

Question Stuck in fastboot after trying to install PixelExperience :(

Hey everyone
I recently got this phone and went through the bootloader unlock process.
I then tried to follow the instructions on this page https://wiki.pixelexperience.org/devices/rosemary/install/ to get this rom installed but somehow ****ed it up.
Everything went well until I tried to flash the recovery img from this page: https://get.pixelexperience.org/rosemary (i downloaded the 13 plus recovery img).
I flashed the img via fastboot but after that I got stuck in fastboot. The phone is stuck in a bootloop when I try to reboot into recovery or normal boot. The only thing I can get back into is fastboot.
Would really appreciate any help to get the phone working again. Im not new to android custom roms but Im new to xiaomi phones and Im a little lost
Thanks.
OK nevermind I successfully got the phone booting again with miflash tool by reflashing an official firmware...
Greetings!
You can install the rom via adb sideload too. Put on some random recovery (see my tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/twrp-on-android-12.4522273/), and start adb sideload.
Then,
adb sideload insert_package_name.zip

Greetings!
As this phone has an MTK processor, we don't really have a recovery image, it's stored in the boot img I suppose. That link, you can download the official rom to this. DISCLAIMER: There are two types of ROMs listed here, one type is fastboot, that you need now in order to flash it through a computer for example. The another type is the recovery rom, that you can flash from recovery like a magisk package, or anything flashable zip, or with adb sideload.
https://mifirm.net
You should choose global if you are in Europe, but it's suitable for devices in the US or USA probably, ony feature differences are here between an EEA and Global rom.
Also, if you install pixel experience recovery, you can install the firmware by going into recovery, and do it via sideload. Or, you can try flashing the rom with TWRP (tutorial linked below), but then you won't able to install updates automatically.
One question: Did you checked in OEM unlocking in developer options before flashed PE?
Hope it helps!
Yeah, I did checked the oem unlocking. I think the reason why i failed because my bootloader probably updated and I forgot to check. You need bootloader version 12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM to install the pixel experience. Also thank for help
Greetings!
You can install the rom via adb sideload too. Put on some random recovery (see my tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/members/gurtnyi.11842195), and start adb sideload.

adb sideload insert_package_name.zip

Can I do that on newer firmware or should I roll back to version 12.5.16.0.RKLMIXM? And if I roll back then I need to unlock device again?
I think you can. I've flashed it successfully on the latest version too. Currently I don't use PE but it was good for me.
Well, regarding to the unlock, it's not a big deal, you don't have to wait 168h again, once you've firstly unlocked your device, you can re-unlock it again, and again, no matter how many times, you don't have to wait a lot again.
But depending on how you rollback it,
I mean, with xiaomi flasher (i think that's its name) you can choose between clean all and lock, save userdata, and clean all, but in the first case, it'll lock back the bootloader. With SP flash tool (if you need, I can provide a link for the modified version of it, that doesn't require an auth file, but if fails, you need a python script, I can link that too), as I remember it won't lock back the device, but I'm not a 100% sure
Hope it helps!

Happy to hear that!
By the way, yes, pe recovery is better for sideloading, or eventually any not stock recovery. Also, if you install PE recovery, you can apply updates automatically, and in the future you won't need to flash it manually.
