Question Group Messaging/Dual sim card - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hi,
is Anyone found a fix for group messaging, I am on ATT, Dual sim
My google messages used to be the perfect app for me but using it with my MI 11 Ultra doesn't detect my sim cards.
I tried other messaging apps but it won't detect my sim cars.
the only original messaging app does.
Any Idea guys?
I am on the Chinese Rom and don't want to switch to global yet since everything seems to be working fine.
Will appreciate any help.

Try allowing most of the permissions in the app settings, and then force stop the app. That's how I got Google Messages to recognise both SIMs.

3rd Party MMS issues

Is anyone else having issues sending/receiving MMS via third party applications? Seems to be working fine for the stock application but so far I've tried hangouts and Google Messenger and neither are able to send or receive.
Device: Mi Note Pro
MIUI Version: 5.8.27*
Carrier: USA T-Mobile
SMS works fine in each of the applications and I only use one SIM
After testing a few more apps it appears that those are the only two applications that MMS does not work in. More research shows that Hangouts doesn't support dual sim devices at all but I am still not sure about why Google Messenger wouldn't be working. Oh well ?

Most likely because it won't accept an Mms from a China based server. Miui routes all Mms through their servers and some of the rules break some privacy rules in other parts of the world

Android Messages RCS not working

Hello,
Has anyone swapped to the Google Messages/Android Messages app over the stock Samsung messages app on the S10/S10+ and been able to get RCS working?
I came from a Pixel 3 XL and enjoy the Android Messages app over the Samsung app even with the OneUI overhaul, but I cannot get RCS/Chat working - it is not even visible in advanced settings. If I swap to the Samsung app it sends RCS messages no problem, swap back to Android messages it goes back to SMS/MMS only. I also installed Google Carrier services thinking maybe it needed that to trigger it but nothing, looks like the Carrier services app also does not get triggered to actually provision anything even with it installed.
Would love to hear if anyone has this working
Same issue here. I prefer Android messages since I get a lot of verification codes texted to me and Android messages has a quick copy code option. On TMobile. Rcs works fine on Samsung message app.

I am using T-Mobile and I have not yet had RCS support(waiting for it), but I want to ask, how did you install Google Messages app on your new Samsung phone? Did you transfer your info including apps using Samsung Switch app? If yes, some apps may not have transferred correctly, so I would uninstall them, then reinstall or just try clearing data of that app.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Google Messages a few times, still does not resolve, even installed Google Carrier Services to attempt to fix. Really odd if you cant use a different message client with the same tech.
beep boop
Right now its only supported on the stock Samsung messaging app.

"Messages" is a public app that Google has on the Play Store (just search for 'Messages' and make sure you get the one from Google LLC), and anyone with an Android phone can download it. It's a drop-in SMS/MMS replacement for OEM (or carrier) apps for SMS/MMS.... it also supports RCS, but not on every phone.

And it looks like it may stay that way for a while: For RCS to be shared between apps, the way SMS/MMS are, Google needs to build an API so that different apps could access the same data. It LOOKED like htye were going to do that, but then 9to5Google and others reported that the code was hidden and commented out in the Android Q preview, with comments suggesting that it wouldn't be available till Android R. Lord knows why it's taking Google this many hears to get down basic functionality on something as important as messaging... they've been pushing their RCS Universal Profile since 2016, so it seems ridiculous that it'll be 2020 (for Android R) before they release an API baked into Android for it.
Textra is still my favorite SMS app. I wish Messages and Samsung Messages would implement their quick reply features
It works for me sending messages to my parents who are on Sprint with me using the Google Messages app. I'm pretty sure they are using the default Samsung messages app but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
Not exactly the same but worth a mention...Verzion S10- has Real Time Text (RTT) working..you enable this from the stock phone dialer screen, three dots at the top right for Settings > Real Time Text. You can set it to always on and you'll get the additional option to send an RTT type message call whenever you click a contact.

New Dual Sim Xperia 1 II - No Group MMS Settings

My phone is a dual-sim version from Austraila (XQ-AT52). I'm in the US.
As I was setting up my phone, and before I installed the ATT sim card, the native google text message app showed the ability to use MMS for Group chats. As soon as I put the sim in, that option disappears from the menu.
Now, in the group texts ported over from my old Sony, I get a note right in the message sequence saying that all messages will be sent to each person in the group individually, and by SMS not MMS.
It seems like this might be a function of this build not being a US build, and that somehow there's a firmware difference where the single Sim, non 5G phones in the US (and maybe Taiwan) doesn't have the issue.
I'm using a third party app called Textra, and it's working okay, but I'd really like to get back to the native Google App with full group text functionality. I'm not sure if it's an ATT issue (given the option exists until I plug in the ATT sim card) or if it's a build issue, and I need to modify the phone.
Help!

How did you buy one from Australia? They don't sell them there. Also try putting the ATT sim in the second sim slot.
Cheers, Ben
Anyone have any solutions/suggestions? I have the same model (XQ-AT52) and am in Canada and it does not have the group MMS option in Advanced settings. Is this basically a build issue?
Gonna bump this old thread. Anyone ever find a fix? XQ-AT52 here on ATT in the US also no group messaging in Google messages either, and Textra is pretty awful...

That might be a problem with the carrier
Fixed it. used Newflasher and replaced my HK firmware with TW firmwarre, and replaced the oem_cust files from that, with the US firmware files, and now group messaging in android messages works.
Just because I'm curious; why do you still use MMS?

Question RCS not working verizon S21 ultra

So I used smart switch and copied my pixel 4 over to my s21 ultra everything worked fine rcs using the Google message app. Had to get a replacement s21 (wouldn't hold a signal) after transferring from old s21 to the new s21 rcs stopped working and now when I enable chat in Google message it hangs on verifying phone number and doesn't do anything in samsung messages. Anyone have this working on verizon?
That's the same issue I ran into. What worked for me was to uninstall the app. Switch your default back to the same sing app or Verizon Messaging app. I redownloading the Google messaging app and made it my default. I activated the chat features and let it do it's own thing. For me after about 5-6 hours the servers confirmed and I was able to use RCS functionality.
Also in Settings, wifi, more connections I be set up a private dns; the same one I was using on my pixel.... dns.google

Do you have carrier services installed?
Yes I do
Mine just sticks at trying to verify phone number
Been going crazy for 3 days trying everything from here to next Sunday! I read what dude said about uninstalling and going back to Verizon messaging app as default and reinstall Google messages and then make it your default again and it worked right away without a hitch! Thanks so much was going ****ing crazy!

Question Google RCS paired with Samsung Messages

Hey all! Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to enable the Google RCS setup inside the Samsung Messages app for the snapdragon variants? I've used just the built-in activity launcher with nova to dissect the app a little and it's got quite a few built in options. Just curious if anyone was able to make it work in the US. So far I've only seen people from Europe get access.
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rrivenllc.shieldx&hl=en&gl=US
Create an account
Enable device admin & knox
Go to app manager
look for IMS Settings
Open the mainactivity
Look for the RCS options there and enable it including its features.
Sorry I can't be specific with the instructions since I don't have my phone at the moment but just try it.

so under RCS Config. mine says RCS Home Preference = Always connect, RCS Roaming Pre = Always connect?? it was already defaulted to this. does it mean that it should already work? doesn't seem like it thoug.??

Hi sorry for the late reply.
From IMS Settings go to IMS Service Switch and enable RCS Switch and all the RCS sub section toggles at the bottom. And do that on both sim slots. You can switch by clicking the sim slot # at the upper right corner of the screen.
I've been struggling with RCS since I got the S21U, I can connect to both the Google messages app and the Samsung default app, but the RCS switches (main and sub-switches) on the IMS settings app won't stay turned on, as soon as I leave the page they turn to gray.
I've got all the multimedia telephony flags on and all are working fine, just the RCS flags won't stay up.

S21U Unlocked straight from Samsung.
RCS stuck in verifying.
I just turned it off.
I'll wait for Google to get its act together on this.
WhatsApp "just works".

I don't think you understood my problem, RCS in google messages says connected, except I don't really have chat features. I can connect to Samsung messages too, but it still won't use chat features.
My problem is with the RCS flag on the IMS settings page, it won't stay on, I turn it on, simply switch SIM card from 1 to 2 to 1 and it's gray again. Everything else on the IMS settings is turned on and working, just the RCS flags won't stay on.

Where is this thing you speak of?
The IMS settings page that used to be accessible through the messages app activities, now you have to use something like alliance shield x unless you're rooted.
I installed Google Messages and Carrier Services , chat connected and google messages works with all the RCS features.

In the US?
Well, you shouldn't have to install Carrier Services on a Samsung device. They manage that themselves.
Yea in the US, i wasn't aware of that part about carrier services though, I know it was needed on my pixel so I assumed it was needed on this as well.
I have a US S21U unlocked from direct from Samsung. I'm using Google messages. Most of my friends use iPhones, so I don't normally have an opportunity to test RCS. But a friend recently got a T-Mobile S21U, he's not a technical person, so I expect he's using whatever message app the carrier models default to, not sure if that's Samsung or Google. RCS just works between me & him.
I cant force them to work, google app stuck on veryfing number, samsung messages keep saying registration failed. Nice,

I'm facing the same issue.
I had it working and then it stopped working.
Try the RCS de-register thing. Disable RCS and then wait a week or so and then try again.
You can also try to call your carrier. I'll try that later as well.

Ee, managed to sort this out on my phone by after 100 times, but can't force it to work on my wife's s21. I thought it is not carrier relevant as it is goun through Google servers?

It was working for a short time but then it stopped.
May have been something I did.
Try this: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat
Then, re-register.
