How To Guide How to make Android Auto Work on Xiaomi.eu ROM - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

1) Make sure you turn on the auto start option in app info/settings for all the apps that are used in Android Auto
Examples: Whatsapp, Messenger, Google Maps, Spotify, Poweramp, Waze etc.,
2) Try different cable(most !important). My cars android auto was working fine with Poco F2 pro but after i shifted to mi 11 ultra it worked the first day and then stopped. I though it was a ROM issue and before moving to global ROM i tried all the cables in my house. None of them worked except one - the cable that comes with Xiaomi 67w charger with orange accent. If you didnt buy the charger you can go on amazon and search for "Android Auto cable" or you can buy a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Cable anywhere. Make sure it supports 3A current (minimum) and i recommend getting the 6A cable which will also help with fast charging. Hardly costs you 20$ for a good braided cable.
Here is a cable most of the people on forums bought (no-affiliate link):
Amazon.com
3) if none of the above steps worked, Uninstall current android auto from apps and rollback to a previous version. you can easily find the apk file online.
4) Last but not least change the car
EDIT:
Found that removing your device from bluetooth connected devices list from cars infotainment and reconnecting will also re-initiate AA connection.

I am struggling to get Android Auto work with my VW Tiguan. Both wired and wireless just fail to connect. Will test other cables but is there any way to get the wireless working?

I dont know which ROM you are on. Android auto wont work on Chinese ROM. You have to unlock the bootloader and install xiaomi.eu rom. If you do have xiaomi.eu rom try this:
Go into settings> Connection and sharing > scroll down to end and find Android Auto> see if the option "Wireless Android Auto" is turned on.

On Chinese ROM there's no way to get this working. On global ROM it's flawless. Don't know about the EU one.

I got it to work by selecting "transfer File" on the selection prompt in the phone. Ever since it works flawless.

anyone know if this works with bmw yet?

Xiaomi.eu 12.5.4 version.

I'm on Xiaomi.eu 12.5.4 and AA works on my Audi but not on my 2021 Lexus. I've tried multiple USB cables, my OnePlus 6 works fine with every cable I used.

Most features work well on my Mi11U running EU 12.5. The only issue I'm having is that I can't reply to anything. I've allowed every permission I can think of, but still when I say something (like send text, or call mom), it will ask me to say the message, or confirm the phone number, and when I try to reply, it just doesn't hear me. It waits a few seconds and then asks me to say it again, and again, and again.
Super frustrating. Anybody else finding this?
I'm on stock head unit - wireless, but I've tried wired connection as well.

When you are using AA, it uses mic from car somewhere on steering wheel/infotainment itself. Maybe that mic is not working.

I don't think so, I can speak to it to begin with. I'll either press the steering wheel button/the microphone icon on my AA interface/or say OK Google (all of which work) and then be able to ask anything, for example -
Me: "text John Smith"
Google: "text John Smith. Sure, what's the message?"
Me: "blah blah blah" - at this point, my words are not recognized or typed out on the screen, and google doesn't hear anything from me.
Google: "What's the message?"
I feel like it's a permission issue with the Assistant and not the messaging app, since it also happens in other apps (phone/contacts).

I remember my Mi10 pro won't work with my car when i have dual apps activated.

Can confirm that the Aukery cable solved the issue.

Same problem Citroen C3 + Poco F3 , have you tried connecting original cable?

Had problems with my Hyundai Kona electric. Had to do two things: better cable and I wiped cache and settings for Android auto. After that I connected and got the welcome to Android auto setup screens
Hope that helps.

Yep, tried turning off the wireless option, then connecting with original cable, same result. I'm wondering if there are some kind of google assistant permissions that I'm missing?
I also cannot wake the phone with "OK Google", the screen has to be on, so maybe that has something to do with it. Not sure, very annoying though. Unfortunately, might be a deal breaker for me.

XPeria Bluetooth doesn't pair up with Mercedes

Hi,
I just moved from the bulky P990 to XPeria. Everything seems to be fine, except the bluetooth problems I'm having when trying to connect to the Mercedes Benz C200 (2008 model) audio system.
From the car, when I look for the list of mobiles, my X1 appears in the list, but when I try pairing, it continues working for a while (once paskey is entered), and says the authorization process failed, and the two never get paired up.
My other phones, P990, Nokia N70, E66 all work fine with the car bluetooth.
I read somewhere that the WinMo 6.1 does not have the SAP profile, and managed to find a cab file that introduces this. However, when tried, still the same problem. Also tried Jetware, and failed.
Merc & SE have no clue when I called them up.
Any help will be great!!

Managed to solve this now.
Of course both Merc & SE didn't have any good solutions.... so had to continue googling & XDA-ing... This is what I did:
i.) Jetware, as I posted earlier has been removed.
ii.) I still had the SAP Profile addition downloaded from one of the forums in XDA on.
iii.) Change Registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Sys\COD
the default is 5898764 (Decimal) which is "Telephone (Smartphone)" which you would think would work. Changed to 5374476 (Decimal) which is a normal phone.
iv.) Restarted the phone.
v.) Started the pairing process from the car - failed as per before.
vi.) Started the pairing from the phone, and they work!!
Now, they pair automatically as how they would before....

Still can't understand why Meredes took that way, my car's bluetooth is a charm
I has the same problem with a pioneer head unit.
The head unit only looked at mobile phone devices and did not recognise anything such as smartphone or PDA as possible to connect to.
My Phone presented itself as a PDA.
I made the change in the registry too and it worked.
I told pioneer and informed them exactly what was wrong with their headunit, so that they could fix a new firmware, to which they responded "Your phone is not on our supported device list".
I ebay'd the headunit and bought a £700 Kenwood one, never dealing with pioneer again.
It is the make of the car kit which is at fault here, it could be that they have issued a fix / upgrade at dealerships though? I can't imagine Merc not fixing things that cost that much.
- Anthony
I tried the registry modification and it still doesn't work with my cd-btb200. It connects and asks for the password, the phone says it's connected and the head unit doesn't detect it. After 10 seconds the connection breaks. Man I wasted 200$ on this bluetooth box that follows no standards.

I do not understand what you must do these two points
i.) Jetware, come ho postato in precedenza è stato rimosso.
ii.) I still had the SAP Profile addition downloaded from one of the forums in XDA on. ii.) avevo ancora l'aggiunta di SAP Profilo scaricato da uno dei forum di XDA su.
you can explain it better??
It's all Pioneer's fault.
I'll try JetWare and give an update.

Bluetooth on HD2 + Volvo built-in Bluetooth

Hi,
I'm having problems connecting my HTC HD2 to my Volvo S80 bluetooth, The phone sync's OK, I can dial calls but I get no audio through the cars speakers; neither does it dim the sound.
I happend to use a HTC TYTN II with the same car, where it all worked flawlessly.
Does anyone have the same problem with his/her Volvo?
Does anyone have a working combination of a HD2 + Volvo?
Any help/direction will be appreciated.
I have the same issue with my Jag.. have you tried to initiate the call FROM the car vs. from the phone?

Yeah, I've tried it both from the phone, as well as the keypad of the car. Funny thing is that the phonebook seems to synchronize correctly between phone & car, so I have a working connection.
It's just the problem that I have described earlier in this thread.
Did you manage to solve it?
It is very wonky - I can see the addressbook on my car's display, i can dial and have a convo but it hangs after I hang up the phone. I cannot dial from the phone which is strange. I imagine a software patch could repair

Hi - I am having exactly the same issue with the connection in my C30, it syncs fine, connects okay just no audio on either the phone or the car
I have tried the fix above which didnt work for me - any ideas?
I have got it working fine on a bluetooth headset so not the phone
My Volvo dealer did it
Everything solved, by installing the latest bluetooth software into my car. It seems that an update is available twice a year, and I have just had my Volvo dealer install the latest into my one year old car.
Everything is now working fine.
(And then I thought that Bluetooth was a certified standard, but hey, I work in business software, so I probably should have known better )
I can highly recommend driving by your Volvo agent.
Volvo Bluetooth HTC HD2
Warnink:
Where are you located in the world? My Volvo dealer (and Volvo Norway) could not find any software update for my car. I have an 2010 V70 and I have the same issues as you had.
Did your dealer give you any details about the software?
André
I was lucky while it lasted
When I drove off from my dealer, he made sure that I had the last version of the bluetooth software. Everything worked smoothly then, and also for a couple of days.
Unfortunately I am back to square one now, since it stopped working again.
On another forum, I received some replies, telling me it has to do with the bluetooth stack, that is being used by the HTC HD2. I am sofar unable to verify this, and neither do I have a solution.
I have sent an email to HTC as well, telling them about this issue, but have so far not received any reply.
Hope that either Volvo, or HTC will pick up on this issue, because the combination of driving a Volvo, and using a HD2 can hardly be matched (but only if they function properly) If you encounter a solution, keep me (us) posted.
(By the way: I live in Holland )
the same...
Hi !
I do have the same problems with my XC70 MY10. My Bluetooth version in the car is 04.22_R. Which version do you have !?
In the past with my Touch HD I used Jetware bluetooth handsfree 1.40 and most of the time it worked. Unfortunately that version is not running on my HD2.
Is there anything planed like this to have for the HD2 ?
Which other solutions would be possible ? How many people are infected and is it only a VOLVO problem ?
Best regards !
Same here. Latest sofware version installed (already two time), now 4.22R. It's unbelievable. A Navigon or Tom Tom appliance, or any BT Handfree stuff of 100 euro's connects and works without any problem, but a 80.000 euro Volvo... I can't figure out why, the phonebook syncs, it dials, but no sound. Nor does it stop radio/cd/tv. Waiting for next upgrade (either BT of Volvo or the whole car?)
Not supported by Volvo yet
Here is a link for the Netherlands, where you can check what phone models are supported by Volvo bluetooth. Currently, the HD2 is not listed.
Dutch:

Solved problem
Hi!
I had some initial problems pairing my HTC hd2 with my S80 from -06.
Now it works fine without any bluetooth updates from Volvo.
The problem I had was that the call was disconnected just as it was connected.
I could make the call but as soon as someone answered, the call was disconnected.
I'm not really sure what did the trick but I tried with the settings in:
Start -> Settings -> Meny -> More -> Bluetooth
Under Advanced there is an option to play system sound on the remote bluetooth device. I have it checked, not sure if that is needed.
So try to change the settings in Start -> Settings -> Meny -> More -> Bluetooth
If I get the time I'll try to write a more detailed guide...
The main thing is that with proper settings it works, without updates.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried the settings posted on the previous pages and for the first time my HD2 pairs with my Range Rover handsfree.
I didn't find the registry values exactly as in the previous post so here's an updated list of what worked for me:
I downloaded Mobile Registry Editor (freeware from here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/De...or-10636.shtml
Then I made the following registry changes:
1. Modify the HandsFree plug-in: HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\HandsFree
i. Change SupportedFeatures to 45 (default is 1135 mine was 1379)
ii. Add value HFBDA binary, set to same value as LastConnectedBda
iii. Add value HFDeviceType DWORD 2
2. Modify the WIDCOMM bluetooth general settings: HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\General
i. Change bdaddr to (no value) delete the existing key value
ii. Change DisableReopenAudio to 0 (default is 1) I didn't have this registry key so I created it with DWORD value 0
3. Reboot device

I found (on another thread) that just turning off the data connection enables most of the BT and audio-linked functionality... Though mine doesn't seem to update the recent calls list made from the car.
BUT the downside would be losing out on push email or other data services like weather, stocks (who cares!), and things like satnav live services (traffic, etc.) until you re-enable data. I haven't yet tried Tungsten's ideas above - hopefully tomorrow!
NB. which bluetooth version do you have? (In the menu on the sound system) I apparently have the current version and my Volvo dealer said that even an update could either maybe not work/work fine/trash my phone's BT UNLESS Volvo had by then listed my phone as compatible (HD2 currently not listed). Plus I would still be charged £60-70 so I opted not to risk it.
From what I can gather and although bluetooth is a "standard", it maybe to do with using different stacks - HTC apparently doesn't use the Microsoft stacks...
Problem fixed
Everyone...I picked up my HD2 on Thursday, same issue with my 2009 Volvo S80. Connected but no audio picked up or transferred...until today.
Complete the pairing with the vehicle.
Then
Go into the "OTHER SETTINGS" (Located toward the bottom of the Main Settings Section)
Under Other Settings is "CAR KIT"
Make sure to have a check box in both options. "Navi" & "Automatically transfer to Car Kit"
Save.
Your set..works like a charm.
Just curious

Android Auto for maps and Spotify, iPhone for calls

Hi, is there a chance to use two phones at the same time? Every day I use the iPhone, but I would like to be able to use Google Maps on the Discovery Pro screen in a VW Passat. Is it possible to connect an Android phone with Android Auto, which will display Google maps to me, at the same time be connected via bluetooth from the iPhone to be able to call from it? I am currently using MirrorLink, but this service works very poorly and slowly. Apple CarPlay is not an option, their maps are miserable. Thanks for help.
Ok, no one wrote back, but I found a solution.
I have Xperia Z5 Compact, on which I made root.
I have permanently turned off the Bluetooth sharing service. After installing Android Auto, I went through all the configuration steps. The service started working on the car screen without disconnecting the connected iPhone X via bluetooth.
The sound and picture are sent via a usb cable. When someone calls the music pauses, and when the conversation ends it plays again. It is a perfect combination if CarPlay is not enough, and we don't want to stop using the iPhone.
Thx for the interesting post and especially to come back with a solution. A real strange thing that people actually do follow ups.
I am also interested in this. Having multiple phones I would leave 1 in the car just for Android Auto and the other one just as a phone. If Android wireless was active the use for me would be a bit less needy.
What some people forget is that your phone barely charges if you use Android Auto and that would make it better for me to really charge my other phone while driving. During Android Auto and connected to the USB of the car the phone is in data mode and will probably only output like 400 to 500mA . This is barely enough to keep the charge.
The S7 that I have goes to about 1.9 Amp(so 1900mA) when charging on a non QC charger so after lets say an hours drive it gets more than enough juice to keep you going.

I installed the Root Essentials app from Google Play and found the "Bluetooth Sharing" service in the Memory / Application Manager tab and turned it off. From the normal application settings, this can not be done. Thanks to this, the sound and image from Android Auto is transmitted via USB, and my iPhone is connected via bluetooth for calls.

The steps I have described have helped in the operation of AA, so that the car does not disconnect my Bluetooth-connected iPhone. When I used MirrorLink, my iphone was not disconnected and I could use both phones without any modifications.
In my case, I turned off bluetooth first and then I installed and configured Android Auto with my car. As a result, the iPhone was not disconnected which made me happy. I would also like to add that the procedure was performed on the Discover Pro radio in the Passat B8 with the App-Connect service.

I did try almost every configurations ... I erased previous telephone settings in head unit to start with a clean install. BT has been disabled on tablet (the one dedicated to AA). As soon as the tablet is connected through USB, the phone is deconnected from head unit, and the reason given is that BT is already engaged by another unit (the tablet 0-o). I did a hard reset of the tablet. No joy either... I don't know what to do next. I should stress the fact that AA is installed from APK, as the tablet is not eligible for having AA.

In Volkswagen cars, Android Auto connects via USB, however the phone connection is connected via bluetooth. Maybe your car is configured differently with AA. I also downloaded AA from the apk file.
Can your car simultaneously handle two phones connected by bluetooth? It is possible in the Passat. Maybe there is a problem here.

That needs to be checked for sure, but I still cannot understand why, with BT completely removed from tablet, Head unit still maintains a kind-of BT link with it, thus disconnecting the phone ... It appears like once AA is running on tablet, all other BT connections are killed.
Not working for me! Please help

Hi Pixege,
I have the exact same setup (Sony Xperia Z5 ROOTED + iPhone + VW Discover Pro on new Tiguan) and followed your instructions here but no luck.
Here's what I've done.
1. Made sure there is no pre-existing bluetooth pairing between Xperia and Discover Pro) - I reset the Discover Pro just to be sure
2. Paired iPhone with Discover Pro (this is the phone I want to keep connected via bluetooth for calls, etc.)
2. Permanently disable bluetooth sharing on Xperia using Root + App
3. Installed Android Auto on Xperia and connected device to Discover Pro - AA now works fine
This still caused the iPhone to be disconnected from bluetooth... when connected via AA, no other connection is allowed.
Did you do anything different from the steps above as it didn't work for me.
Thanks for helping out.

use 2nd phone for Android Auto
I was able to root my LG V35 and turn off all BT using Link2SD. Now my old V35 is plugged into my car's USB in the center console and my new S20+ connects to the car on BT for calls. It took a lot of effort, but thanks to all the tips posted here, I was able to make it happen. Rooting the V35 was the hard part. Getting the boat loader to unlock took a lot and I bricked the phone twice trying. But rooting after that was somewhat easy, though frankly, I'm not sure how I did it exactly. I was able to unlock the boot loader using the instructions here, step 1 and 2. Though somehow, I bricked the phone (for a 2nd time) trying to get through step 3. I was able to get it to go into fastboot mode and I flashed the boot with an img that was labeled twrp and magist 7.5. I wish I could remember where I got that image from, but after that, magist was installed on the phone and a few clicks later, suddenly it was rooted. Then disabling BT with Link2SD only took a minute.
GREAT post - THANK YOU!!
I have a Note 20 Ultra and a 2020 Tiguan SE, and my 2 issues are (were):
1. I hated connecting and disconnecting the phone to cable for every damn time you enter the car.
2. Since I am spending a lot of time in the car, not necessary driving - I wanted more. Especially Video.
Knowing that AA uses BT and automatically pairing every devices it connected, I though to go to iOS, and get a cheap Iphone to run Carplay, while my Note will stay on BT.
The idea of disabling BT from system after root never crossed my mind. So once seeing that post, I ordered from Amazon a Pixel XL, rooted it and removed all the un-necessary crap out of it, disabled all APKs and services using BT - and it works like a charm.
I have my Note in and out from the car with me, working on BT, and the rooted Pixel juts sits in the car connected with the wire.
Thank you!

Have the same problem. Disabling Bluetooth does not help.
Do you have a detailed guide?

Hi,
Not anything in particle, where are you stuck?
I just used any of "app disabler" app from Google Play and freeze every service you find for BT.
Other then that, once in car, make sure your phone is up and running the BT connection, before you plug the secondary device into the wired AA connection.
Good Luck.

Hi,
That's what I did.
I don't know why it doesn't work for me.
Have tried them all before.
New ROM, Call function disabled, Android Auto function disabled.
I don't know...
Maybe it's because of the VW firmware?

I have a 2020 VW Tiguan SE (USA) if it helps.
Rooted with Magisk
I used "link2sd" and "servicedisabler" apps to do it, but their are plenty others out there who will do the same.
The 2 BT services I disabled in the Pixel XL which is connected now to AA by wire are:
com.androind.bluetooth
com.androind.bluetoothmidiservice
And once again, be sure to be paired and connected with your phone ti BT, before connecting the other device to the wired AA.

Using android auto causes my phone to be unpaired bluetooth

it's an annoyance really. I have a Pioneer NEX-4100 and it has pretty nice bluetooth functionality as well as Android Auto, and i use both. I used to not have this problem so i think it's the phone. I have a phone (now) running android 7, and if i connect to Android auto all is fine, but the next time i try to connect to bluetooth, the phone requires repairing and asks me to enter the pin. Any ideas? LG-K20.
I started having the same problem with my phone, which was a Huawei P20 pro. Then I changed it to a P30 pro, but same thing happened.
This is btw with a Ford focus 2019, with standard radio.
After trying different things I found that if I let the car and phone connect via Bluetooth before the phone via cable for AA, then it stopped causing that problem
I have the same problem too, thanks for this tip.

I think it happens since the phone is not yet connected.
If you connect an unpaired phone, AA will start pairing process, which then causes the current pairing to fail for some reason
There s a module in Magisk that solve this problem
It's for Samsung phone

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite + Android Auto + Skoda Octavia 5E Columbus Head Unit (MIB2) - Microphone won't work

Hello all,
First of all:
My Mi 10 Lite used to work properly on an Audi Head Unit and a china Android HU with an AA box.
With the china HU the phone ran with MIUI 12.1 und 12.5 I guess? I did got an update to MIUI 12.5.1 this week.
I have the Skoda since 02. july, so Android Auto worked with all MIUI Versions till then on the china Radio in my old car.
Now I have a big problem, that after pressing the microphone button on screen, my voice is detected, and the assistant will do what I am saying. For example "Play BAND XY an Spotify" or "Route to Mainstreet my City". I can also say "Write a whatsapp to abc". After that command it says something like "OK, chatting with abc. What do you want to say?". AND now my voice won't be recognized anymore.
What have I tried till now:
- updated firmware of Skoda Headunit to newest Version (1433)
- three different cables (china noname, Anker, original Xiaomi cable)
- another Android Phone (Samsung A40) --> DID work well
Just as I am writing now, I have not tried yet to swipe the cache of the app.
In the screenshots, you cann see the permissions of the Android Auto app.
What have I missed? What can I do?
For me it is an important feature to dictate messages, as my family or girlfriend sometimes have simple questions per whatsapp, which can be shortly answered. Calling would be a very much longer time, and my drive home is about an hour.
