[GUIDE] EFS/IMEI Backup for ZenFone Max Pro M1

I am not responsible for bricked devices and dead SD cards. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
It hasn't been long since I joined the ZenFone Max Pro M1 forums and since then I was worried about the EFS/IMEI because it is very complex in the Snapdragon SoCs. So all you need to do is to backup EFS partition by using an app created by @wanam
Instructions:
1) Unlock your bootloader (will be available soon)
2) Flash TWRP (if available)
3) Root your phone (Magisk/SuperSU)
4) Install Partitions Backup & Restore app from Google Play Store
5) Back up MODEM, MODEMST1 & MODEMST2 (In simple words, backup the yellow highlighted partition)
Notes:
The backups are saved on /sdcard/PartitionsBackups.
DO NOT leave the EFS/Modems backups on your sdcard, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE
DO NOT use the restoration feature for tests purposes, it is recommended to use it for small partitions only (EFS, Boot, Modems.), you can restore other partitions backups with FASTBOOT.

backup end restore

I like to try a little all roms. I am fine with TWRP 3.3.2b-302. Can you tell me how I can make a backup correctly in order to restore correctly? what are the items that I have to check? System, Data, Boot?
I suspect that nobody knows how to do it correctly
If you just want to take backup & restore of data on your Xiaomi Mi 9, you can do that by uing Xiaomi Cloud. If you want to transfer data from your Xiaomi Mi 9 to the PC for backup, you can do that via USB Cable in MTP mode or via Bluetooth. Pro Samsung mobile manager tool can also help us. Hope this will be your help.

data recovery after unlock bootloader and root

Hello,
Today I had some kind of mental blackout and made a horrible mistake - I wanted to root my phone to do a full backup with Titanium Backup.
I unlocked the bootloader with the Xiaomi Unlock Tool (miflash_unlock-en-5.5.224.24) not realizing that this means a factory reset and all data is lost.
Unfortunately, I had a lot of pictures of my family / children on the phone without a recent backup.
As next step I installed twrp-3.4.0-10-tucana-mauronofrio.img with adb and used Magisk-v23.0 to root the phone.
Then I tried different recovery solutions like Ultdata with root access to restore the old files - but the scans can't find anything.
Is there a chance to restore those 50-80 GB of pictures and videos again. Are the old partitions still there. How can I scan them to undelete files at raw level?
I would be very grateful for any further information!
THX Wolfgang

You have rooted the phone and you must have seen that even with root the system partitions remain in read only which means that you cannot restore the system with the Twrp which must have write permission.

Yes, I do understand this part however, If I use PartitionBackups to back up all the files around 6.7 GB ..... the question is can I restore through PartitionBackup in future? Thank again for the piece of advice!

I don't know this app.
The system on devices with A/B partitions with A12 or A13 remain in Read only.
Try to restore only the data without the system/vendor/etc.
Did you remove security on the lock screen and reboot the system before your backup?
This has the effect of decrypting your data.
Micloud can also back up your data, apps (not all and without settings), mms, sms, photo, music, configuration settings, but the free version is limited to 5GB.
There is also backup on PC with Micloud, just a folder to cut / paste.

Thank again @ NOSS8
Yes, I did removing all my security passwords on the lock screen before doing all the backups.
The Twrp was good where I managed to backup everything except the system while the PartitionBackup did backup everything!
Yes, I do fairly backup only folders under Micloud as only 5GB of storage only!
Thank you
