DOWNGRADE <-> UPGARDE OS possible?

I have the Verzion 8/512 version.
Are these like Pixels that can go back & forth or up & down in OS version or are these like most other phones that can only go up in version and never back down?
Yes. Until they update the bootloader. Then you won't be able to downgrade. Can't downgrade the bootloader.
@Mr. Orange 645 wouldn't the bootloader be updated with any OS version update?
@pizza_pablo, not necessarily. The Note 9 has had several updates and is still on Bootloader v1. Even the Pie beta is still a vehicle bootloader.
I would expect when they officially release Pie to everyone, it will update to a v2 bootloader.

Rooted P20 Pro Android update EU

Hi All,
As you know they already released the Official Android 9.0 Pie for Huawei P20 Pro in EU.
I have the previous version of Android 8.1 CLT-L29.
My devices is:
-Rooted
-Bootloader unlocked.
Can I update via OTA to Android 9.0?
Is there any problem during the upgrade?
Will be still rooted and bootloader will be still unlocked?
If not what is method to do upgrade and still have a Root?
Thanks for your help!
You need to flash stock recovery first.
You will not continue to rooted.
Your bootloader will remain unlocked
Thanks for your kind answer.
Do you think should I update to 9.0 or should I stay with the previous version?
I am not that sure about the root process at the moment and I don't want to loose it.
I don't think there are that many new noticeable features. EMUI looks and behaves pretty much the same.

EMUI 9.1 update with bootloader unlocked and Magisk Manager

Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to get the EMUI 9.1 update on my P20 Pro (Canadian Version) and the system download the updates and it reboot, and gets back to the previous state 9.0 and it asks to upgrade again.
I tried upgrade using the HiSuite and also gets the same issue.
Do you guys know if with the bootloader unlocked and Magisk Manager installed on my boot partition affect this upgrade ?
Thank you
No

Downgrading to Android 8 without compromising Knox/ Samsung Pay?

Hi all,
My Note 8 is currently running Android 9 (official), with baseband N950FXXU6DSD3. Given the phone is turning sluggish day by I thought it would be a good idea to downgrade to Android 8. Well, I downloaded Odion and the official firmware for N950F but Odin gave me an error. Googled and found it is probably because the baseband / bootloader is l6 and the firmware I was installing was l5. However, I couldnt find any official android 8 version with bootloader l6.
Just wondering if there is an alternate was of downgrading without tripping Knox/ Samsung Pay?
Thanks!

Nope not possible you're stuck on bootloader version 6 and there's no going backwards now!
There is no Android 8 rom with v6 bootloader? Also, if I choose OEM unlock will it still trip my Knox even if I install official firmware?

No OEM unlocking will not trip your Knox flag. However, if you install twrp and root the phone that's when you'll trip knox. If you're thinking that toggling the OEM button will allow you to downgrade backwards it's not going to happen! I personally don't know of any Android 8 on bootloader version 6. This is why we preach not to accept updates or buy a phone that's already been updated because there's just no going back once you update! We haven't found a way to do that and I don't think anyone is actually spending their time to try to figure that out either.
Ah ok. Thanks. Guess I am stuck on a laggy OS.

S10+ G975F Exynos Downgrade From Android 11 to Android ??? Help ...

Hi ; my device is G975F Exynos and Original CSC is NEE. İ am on Android 11 Firmware which is G975FXXSEFUJ2.
i plan to go back to Android 10. i do not know my device's bootloader is unlocked or not. And also do not know is it available for bootloader unlocked or not.
What shall i do ? is it possible to go back to Android 10 for this device safely ?
I'm telling my own experience with my G973F, short answer: no
My phone has a unlocked bootloader and i have TWRP, i mistakenly flashed a wrong (lower) bootloader version, and my phone didn't boot anymore, i was only able to recover using download mode.
Older android versions have older bootloader, if you manage to install an older bootloader you phone will only give a message in the top of the screen saying something like "SYSTEM REV. CHECK FAIL DEVICE 8 BINARY 7"
You can only install a lower android version if that android rom works with your current installed bootloader
