Hey man. On the m3 pro 5G, you can change 2.4 to 5.0 Mhz in the config in yhr hotspot configs.

yes !!!!!!! thank you ! since is my new device and i'm still using the old one i didn't try it with mobile data ! thank you

so what's the importance (or beneftis) of creating a 5.0 Ghz hotspot instead of a 2.4 Ghz then?
- does it mean anyone connected to it will get faster speed?
and or
- does it not also mean only devices with 5G will be the only devices that will be able to connect to such a hotspot?

well I noticed in same scenario that using one wifi instead of the other will work better! stupid example with gopro! if switched on 2.4ghz will work better than 5ghz

5.8 Ghz a/n wifi

Can anyone confirm that their Galaxy Tab can connect to wifi on the 5.8 GHz range?
I'm trying to pair it to an N-only router that is using WPA2 with AES on the 5 GHz range, channel width set to 40, and it doesn't seem able to even see the network.
Make your router have a channel 12 or lower. The tab is b or g compatable.

Ahhh no. I connect to my wifi n 5.8 signal all the time. It does take longer to show in the wifi settings field as it scans for g networks first.
I use a linksys e3000 with g on my 2.4 channel and n on my 5.8 channel. Tab connets to n all the time.

Okay, I got this one figured out. It turns out my Tab won't connect to 5GHz channels 149 and 157 from my router.
It turns out that 149 and 157 are allowed in the US, but not in Europe according to this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
When I flashed my modem to JPZ to enable calls on my AT&T tab, did that also affect my Wifi? If so, is there a way to enable calls and still support all US 5 GHz channels?
I can make/receive calls when I am at home on wifi. Jk3 modem here.

You were stating bogus info saying the tab only does b and g when right on the box it states wifi n. I then gave a description of my setup for reference. Not being smarter just truthful. Oh, and i didnt even ask a question so your reply makes no sense. Stop being a jackass on the internet just because you got corrected about something.

I use JPZ modem and the latest Dip7 rom and i can make and receive calls while my wifi is on and connected on wifi n 5.8. My width is 40 and my channel is on auto. You mentioned something about europe being different, maybe the router you have doesnt broadcast out at the settings you are trying?
Hope this helps you.

Your box is smarter than my box, because my box doesn't give any info like that. You are smarter than the at&t website and Samsung's too, because they only claim wifi connectivity. You are smarter than everyone, but you could use an attitude adjustment, because a solution different than one that a god like you has doesn't make it wrong. [Q] My Note does not see 5GHz WiFi

So I just got my Note (stock ROM, Poland origin) a few days ago and I can't see my 5GHz 802.11n wireless signal. What do I need to do to get it to show up?
i think you have to determine what country of origin your note is from and set the channels on your router to be compatible with the firmware on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479839
I had the same problem. Changed the channels on my wireless router and now it sees it and connects great.

This is hardly news - Cyanogenod v10.x does not and (from all appearances will not ever) support WEP. It is old technology, unsecure and not worth putting the effort in to try and fix. Simply change your network to use WPA and be safer and have working Wi-Fi.
You really should be able to use your common sense to realise that if there is an identical bug in every ROM you try then it might be something more than just the ROM with a problem? The developers here base most of their ROMs on CM, but can't control the CM base.
in 4.1.2 this is working just fine, so i dont see why this cant be fixed for later versions?
whats coming next with android 5.0? disabling the sms service becouse 90% of the users are using whatsapp?

The cheapest modern router is around 15-20 USD. It is really worth getting one. WEP can be hacked in minutes. You don't want your whole neighbourhood to use your wifi, do you?

Just remove the password altogether if you are unwilling to buy a new one. Wep is discontinued because its easily hacked anyway

5ghz wireless not visible

Has anyone else not been able to see 5ghz networks? My s4 right next to me is connected no problem, the Moto X though does not even see it. I've tried forcing 5ghz only, still no joy.

No problem here... I do believe that Motorola's Wi-Fi radio doesn't play will with some routers, never heard of your problem before though. I have an Asus ac56u and it sees 5ghz fine.

Following up on your post here, channel 149 is picked up by my Moto X. Maybe give that a try and see if yours picks it up too. Strange I've never had to do channel specifics for any other phone though. Thanks for the info.
moto x is also ac compatible. I get 433mbps or 450 or something like that. Can't recall the exact number when I checked it.
Nice wish I had a router that handled that. I'm still kinda shocked it doesn't handle all N channels.

as i am also interested in this question. I figured i'd ask it for you. Just for future reference. reply to his post so that it shows up as a notification for mainbord. If he hasn't subscribed to this thread (which most don't unless it is a thread they want to stay updated on) then he won't ever know you asked him a question unless you click the reply button on his thread so you quote him.

Ha about that I have a Moto z Droid force and Motorola Droid turbo 2 and they have a mysterious problem I'm using the phone overseas and here I have two different carriers one of them is GSM and the other one is CDMA , if I'm going to use that GSM carrier the phone with operate normally seeing the both 2. 4 gigahertz Wi-Fi and the 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi but if I'm going to use the CDMA carrier I can see the 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi no matter what I do to make the phone see it unless of course I put it in Airplane mode and then searching for the Wi-Fi
And that's the weirdest problem I ever met

Internet Stick and Auto brightness

Hello.
In the very beginning of using my mtcb device, there was an option in the settings with auto brightness. It worked with the illumination wire.
I don't know really, what I changes, but it isn't working anymore or let's say, the option isn't there anymore.
What I have done is switching between different Roms and changed a few things in factory settings. Can there be the problem?
The second one: anybody here using a 4g stick? Is it possible? Which model are you using?
I am really unhappy my 3g stick, working with my old parrot Android device, is not working on this one. Which ones are you using?
Thanks for the help

I just ordered a Huawei wingle.
It's an USB-powered Wifi-stick.
It turns on by it self when it get's power, and then it makes a wifi-hotspot, that the radio connects to automaticly.
(I haven't recived it yet, but i hope that it works excatly as i described).
wifi isn't a problem, it's build in. i really just interested in 3g or better 4g

I'm sure it has to do with which kernel modules were compiled in. And as far as I know, we don't have any true original android ROMs for our units, so that's not likely to change soon.
