Question [question] Custom EQ profiles? - ASUS ZenFone 8

Is there a way to set custom eq presets? Or device dependent profiles (different presets for speaker/wired/bt)?
The audioWizard app seems a bit lacking - or i might be doing it wrong - first day w/ the phone.
Thank you.

You cant even disable it sadly, music might be the least intrusive preset.
Sadly, Android is lacking proper, open source, equalizer apps/software. I use wavelet currently for this reason, it seems pretty versatile.

Thanks for the tip. It's an actually good audio manager - without root too.
Wavelet: headphone specific EQ - Apps on Google Play
Headphone specific equalization with lots of customizability
play.google.com
Used James DSP previously. There are nice and comprehensive audio managers but I'm not planning on rooting.... yet
It's a pity the left that bare-bone app (audiowizard) since the phone has good speakers and wired output.

It is indeed excellent. It also handles my 80ohm Superlux HD 668B with just enough loudness properly equalized.

Functional DSP Manager for Galaxy Tab request...

As with many other users, my Tab suffers from very low volume & mediocre audio from its internal speaker specially when watching certain movies. Ive been looking for an app to control audio volume and EQ that works on the Galaxy and found an app called DSP Manager (current version 2.2).
It features a beautiful interface that is great on the Tab's 7" screen, installs without a problem but doesnt seem to have any effect when applying EQs or settings... the sound is always the same.
I was wondering if I could request to make this app fully functional on the Tab

Would be great that supercurio owns a Tab and develop the sound part as in the galaxy S.

[Q] DSP manager on other roms

one of the features i like the most in cm7 is DSP manager app. does someone knows a way how i could get it on other roms, or is there an app that provides the same settings?
Just copy /system/app/dspmanager.apk and /system/lib/soundfx/libcyanogendsp.so from CM and paste both at same path in new rom. I use it that way and it does work
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
I installed DSP Manager comes from CM7, and the dynamic range compression doesent work. Everything else works great...
My tracks sounds very good with dynamic range compression on CM7. Actually what is it doing? And how?
Nice bump
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
BUMP!, one of the features that keeps me in CM7 instead stock based roms... Stock based have alarm/stopwatch/timer/ in one place, divx official support and HDMI auto/1080p/720p/480p/etc... + I love colorized android settings
Any suggestion how to import these features (including full DPS with dynamic range that makes music sound awesome) that whould be great indeed.
any apk available?

I'm also trying to get dynamic range compression to work for DSP manager. I installed the .apk from CM7 on my Samsung Galaxy player YP-G70 running Gingerbread 2.3.5 and all DSP features work except Dynamic Range compression. Does anyone know if it needs to be flashed as a ROM to make it work? My device is rooted, however there is no support for it for CM7 yet. I get no responses to this question when I post on the Cyanogen forums, most likely because my Samsung device isn't supported and I'm being ignored.
Yes, yes I know, everybody hates Dynamic range compression, "It's destroying music" blah! blah! blah! But there are many times when it's needed, especially on small devices like android phones and PMP's. Listening to music, movies and video clips on these devices in noisy environments, or on small speakers can be difficult to hear the quieter passages of the content. then of course when the loud parts come in, they blast the speakers or headphones with distortion. I cant believe there aren't any Android apps out there to address this situation. Anybody know of one that maybe isn't on the android marketplace?
May be,
DRC feature of DSPManager is framework integrated. Check CM Vs stock ROM's framework

I tried it on the CM7 firmware and it didn't work any better than when I hacked it into the stock firmware. Specifically DRC, the rest worked fine except for the EQ which crashes (FC) on the stock firmware. Not sure why.

I want to run GE or AOSP...but audio SUCKS!

Hi guys,
Can you help me find a ROM that suits my needs? I am going nuts here. I have flashed that many roms and I am just tired of it. I haven't actually found one that I actually enjoy.
First of all I want a rom that is preferably GE or AOSP with lots of customisation. For example I loved this rom by dirty unicorns found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314807
This ROM is pretty much everything I look for in a ROM...however I am getting really bored with the One at the moment. Especially because I care about audio, and I just feel like no developer has really come in and developed a all you need, kick ass audio mod for the One.
In this rom above audio is absolutely HORRIBLE. At full volume it distorts and through headphones it does not sound as good as with sense. But I don't want to use sense.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Ultimately I'd like to use that ROM with good audio and if possible boost the sound ever louder (that's another thing, these speakers have dedicated amps but no one has figured out how to boost volume levels at hardware level?). Any audio mods/things that I can do to get the sound quality and volume back up to par with sense? This rom doesn't come with beats audio...possible to install it?
Thank you for your help.

Have you tried using viper4androidFX. Its a pretty good audio mod I use on ARHD GE edition. Sadly Zeroinfinity isn't making purexaudio for AOSP and only Sense. Its a godly audio mod, but only Sense is a no go.

Yes I have. The problem is that your GE edition comes with beats audio, so your audio sounds half decent. The dirty unicorns rom I am using doesn't have beats audio, and what seems like all the aosp audio files (which sound horrible).
I don't want to lose this rom, but I don't want to live with this audio either. First world problems hey haha

While running vibermod4android you turn Beats off since you don't want to modify an already modified audio stream. It works perfect on all Roms

I have beats off even though im on GE. Beats switch is just an equalizer preset, nothing else. Technically you could replicate the exact same sound with the equalizer built in to any music app, or viper. Like altimax98 said, it should be turned off anyways because modifying something thats already modified isn't too sensible. Especially if you were to say use another device, and wanted to replicate the exact same audio no both. Copying settings from one to the other would have them sound the same but with beats on, your throwing a modification on to a modification.

Yeah, no I understand that all but I still can't fix my sound on this AOKP rom?
I have installed V4A except I don't think it is doing anything... I downloaded the convolver pack so I can set custom IRS still does nothing. I wonder if I set it up properly?
All I did was install and then that was install busybox, install v4a as user app. then run it and install drivers. it said drivers isntalled but it didnt let me selected cortext a8 or those type of options. weird. Now the app seems like it does nothing for sound.
Any ideas?

Are you using dsp compatible app? (google music player, or my fav Shuffle +)
And fx just asks for power save, high quality or best sound drivers. Doesn't ask for processor specific, that's xhifi only.

I've gone from Sense to GPE and (this may be placibo) but i actually find the straight SQ of the HP really, really good/ better than when i was stock.
I tried the Viper mod when using the SIN rom, didn't like it, tried the others (nooze, etc) and concluded that all of the sound mods are simply DSP's and don't actually make the SQ from the DAC any better. They simply change it. I'm back to the pure sound from GPM without EQ and i think it is magnificent!
My tip would be to do a full clean install of your current GPE rom and disable/uninstall Viper etc and run unfiltered/EQ'd for a few days to get your ears used to the sound (Ears burn in to music as much as equipment) and then judge. Also, using good earphones is probably the best thing one can do to improve SQ. The earphones included with the Phone are suprisingly good imho.
YMMV

[Q] Best Sound mods on stock rom?

Hello ! As you all know Sound quality has been terrible on our Z1 since Lollipop came out and Sony has done nothing to fix it so now i have gotten enough and i wanna do something about it myself. I have been reading lots about sound mods and have been comparing them with others but i cant seem to find good one to fit my purposes so i decided to ask here. Im not looking for stereo mod or anything speaker related or like that, i just wanna get the true power what it is capable to produce to my headset like on KK and to be able to adjust the equalization and bass etc like we used to before Walkm... i mean Music app sound enchantments stopped working.. i have XPhonePlus Module from XPosed to enable old audio modes but its currently broken or something since doesnt work...
So basicly im looking for audio mod that:
- Brings back the volume that we had in KK. (In LP its much lower volume.)
- Makes equalization working again. (After LP, had never worked, not in Music beta or the not beta one)
- Makes surround work again (--||--)
- As good bass without losing quality as possible
- Being able to keep the sound enchantments in other apps too not just music app
- Works on stock rom
- As stable as possible, im not really good updater.
- Needs to be able to change settings on the fly. (on LP sometimes equalizer settings take effect on reboot)
I know all my requirements arent necessary possible but just something that way !
I have Bluetooth headset and wired one and i use both so it needs to work on both. i listen mostly electronic so extra bass related mod is never a minus. Im not looking to change music app since i like it so that is not an option.
Im taking suggestions and im gonna pick the best one based on popularity and comments so please share your favourite mod here an i will check it out !
Also im a noobie so i might need instructions i have root ofc and nuts recovery and xposed. im on .270 5.0.2 LP
@migidid
I'm gonna try to answer :3
1. Edit your mixer_paths.xml, need root, there is also many guide in XDA
2. Equalizer works correctly, I don't know why you have such problem xD
3. Surround works too, but only when using headset/headphone.
4. This need headset/headphone with nice sound range too, you can +bass from stock Equalizer, I'm used Poweramp and Poweramp equalizer + Sony equalizer
5. Sony Sound Effect have a global effect for your speaker and also from another sound media too, but I don't know about surround effects (didn't try this so much) xD
EDIT: It's works on Poweramp, just tested it :3
EDIT2: It's not working on Poweramp, it's "blank" sound, sorry xD
EDIT3: Got a fix, must disable Direct Volume Control and enable MusicFX and you will get Surround Sound effect xD
6. I'm on Sony stock L ROM build .270, rooted
7. Nothing bads, if you know what are you doing xD
8. Sony Equalizer no need reboot to take effect, it's immediate :3
I don't like use Viper or another Sound Mod like that, it's useless (for me), since Sony already have in build Sound Effect. I'm only used nice headphone (not high res), modified mixer_paths.xml and Poweramp. :3

Phone speaker is AMAZING. Potential is hidden.

ROOT/Magisk REQUIRED
Well, in my hastiness to mod this phone, I did a couple things, namely Viper Audio FX Magisk module in Magisk downloads within the Magisk app, and dual speaker module for Magisk which you can get here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/magisk-stereo-speaker-mod-oneplus-6t-t3860041. I'm running the BOOSTED dual speaker now. Decided to see if my magical speaker config on Viper would give me results like it did on my 3T, and boy, it's a real surprise on this phone. The stock audio tuning on the speaker hides what it can actually do.
Now, you'll need the Convolver profiles for Viper Audio to reproduce my settings. You can get the profiles in this zip: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141554. It's under modules > profiles. Just copy the Viper4Android folder you find in there and store it. You will need to install Magisk with Viper Audio FX and the optional dual speaker mod for the 6T.
Once you get the Viper dual speaker modules installed, plug your phone into your PC and copy the Viper4Android folder you copied from the zip with the profiles, into the internal shared storage root. Close when done.
You can now open the Viper4Android app and enable speaker master, convolver, and speaker optimization switches.
If you click on Convolver it will take you to a menu where you can select profiles. Leave the knob that's next to the profile selector @ 0%. Make sure your main volume is down, because when you select the TUBEAMPLIFIER profile, the volume will boost.
Now you can enjoy rich, deep, sound from the very underrated speaker
----------------------------------------------------------
So I made another interesting discovery. I installed the latest Cleanslate kernel(version 2.7.7 is the latest from the date of this post) which you can get here along with the configuration(2.9.0) and companion(2.5.0) app, and in the configuration app it allows for tuning of the speakers(yes the earpiece speaker as well!).
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files...&sort_dir=DESC
I boosted the earpiece speaker to level 7 when I was using reduced dual speaker. Backed it down to 5 on boosted dual speaker, on the slider of the Cleanslate configuration app, and hit save. I think the damn earpiece speaker might be almost as meaty as the bottom speaker. It doesn't distort for ****, and the range of sound is astounding! I think we have a true second speaker for our phone, boys and girls! This is pretty awesome!
I paired it with my ViperAudio tweaks and the OnePlus 6T is now like a portable boombox, lol. I love this phone!
Followed your steps to chose the "Tubeamplifier and technics" profile. Let's see how much difference does it make. I will write my experience later.

Awesome. How do you like it? Those are just my preferences, so it's not limited to just that config. I just found it to work the best for the speaker. Reveals more low frequency in the speaker, while maintaining the nice mids and highs.
I wasn't expecting such a drastic change. I was playing a song on about half volume before applying the profile, tapped on the profile and BOOM. It was like the volume was turned all the way up, and sounded much more rich. Then I kept turning the volume up slowly to see where it would start distorting, and to my surprise it never did. Full volume is now about 2x as loud and sounds much much better. Whatever you did with that profile is a gamechanger.

I did nothing lol. Just a nice discovery I made fiddling with my old 3T and applied it here. Pretty dramatic result, right? Looks like OnePlus is sandbagging big time with the hardware. Luckily, our development community can take advantage of such wonderful hardware offerings.

Because overengineered parts are great for better durability. This tweak demonstrates the quality of parts that OnePlus uses on their phone, which seem to be astounding quality.
Based on the response, I'm going to definitely be downloading and trying this out. Though, I'll also probably upload the profiles to something else because that is a damn large file lol. I just wanna download to me phone?
It works! Great find! I kept the speaker optimization off as I don't enjoy low frequency on a mobile speaker.

i am not secure if everything i did, i did it right, applying TubeAmplifier volume difference is HUGE !
