Nokia 4.2 destroyed - production use only - Nokia 4.2 Questions & Answers

Hello together,
I'm new here and have a special question.
We use three cognex MX-1100 mobile scanner with integrated Nokia 4.2 (TA-1149 / TA-1157).
Since Android 11 there are a several issues first of all the phones lost WIFI and didn't connect again automatically.
So I thought about unlock the bootloader and install an operating system without any google service.
I used my replacement phone read a lot of informations and try.
The bootloader is unlocked that worked very well.
I tried to use TWRP but it can't mount, format, convert internal storage.
So I transfer lineageOS with adb and brick that phone.
I found an Android 9 image to recover it.
Now it's working again with Android 9 but I can't connect to any WIFI.
This seems to be a bug in this Image.
Is there any chance to get LineageOS or something else on Nokia 4.2?
Many thanks

> Now it's working again with Android 9 but I can't connect to any WIFI.
Do you have correct MAC address on the device? If it's not correct, do you have whitelist enabled on the router?
> Is there any chance to get LineageOS or something else on Nokia 4.2?
Try installing GSI images. In another thread I've read not all versions work on 2.2, so try multiple.

Thanks for your reply but it is not a MAC problem, I can typ in my wifi password and the mobile device didn't connect. If I tap on my wifi network again nothing happens.
Where I can find an GSI image and how I can install it without TWRP?

Maybe try setting static IP? Does mobile data work?
Google "lineageos gsi images", and there will be. There are also Android 12 beta images.
Install via fastboot. I'd reflash old firmware before doing it, just to make sure it will work.

No...
I can tap on my WiFi, put in my password and after that nothing.
I tap on my WiFi again no password field prompt no connection no error message...
I try to install every image from:
Andy Yan's personal builds // GSI - Browse /lineage-18.x at SourceForge.net
sourceforge.net
and this one aosp_arm64_ab-img-7468133.zip from

[ROM][7.0][Nougat][AOSP] Android 7.0 AOSP for Mi Note Pro (LEO) by Ivan - 20161115

We have ROOT.
As you read this message, unofficial AOSP porting of Android 7 / Nougat has been done. As usual, it is by none other than Ivan. This has gone through few closed BETA and is being released for public now.
I am on this ROM for few days now, and is definitely a daily driver. But, it has its own issues - that is why it is BETA. But, at least I can live with it.
Lots to enjoy in Android 7.
Current noticed issues that are open as of now (at least for me).
FC on settings app after reboot. (Click close app and continue, it continues)
Rare FCs on browser app
No options to configure LED setup (probably not part of AOSP?!). Missed call doesn't show red LED.
Root not available yet
Camera - under video crashes when we choose 1080p. Need to clear data to open camera again
Camera - some reported noise in quality & slow frame rate on video
Security patch level is old - 5Aug'16
WiFi shows as no connection, but actually it has internet and it works
Call history limits to 500. How to modify this?
Gallery FC when edit – Open camera. Click the last image for opening. Click edit icon. FC.
Charging from PC / Laptop – Connect to PC / laptop. Pulldown settings from notification bar. Select – charging mode. Charging will stop in few seconds. Change to ‘File Transfer’. Charging works.
This is the first public release kindly allowed by Ivan. Any further issues, please post here - I will be glad to pass it to Ivan and lets hope for the fix.
Download Link: MEGA
ROM uploaded to MEGA for international user's
PS: This is NOT my development. I am passing the ROM developed and maintained by Ivan. Any credits - should go to him.
If you have any issues, Please provide logs for the developer to debug,
adb bugreport > bugreport.txt & give me the bugreport.txt
logcat > /sdcard/logcat.txt and dmesg > dmesg.txt & give me logcat.txt and dmesg.txt
How to install?
Make sure you have bootloader unlocked.
Flash the ROM in recovery. Flash from Ivan's 3.0.2 recovery.
Reboot and setup your device.
Reboot to recovery and flash GAPPS - I used GAPPS from http://opengapps.org/ (64 bit, 7.0, micro/mini/pico)
Don't Don't Don't flash SuperSu or any ROOT zips - this will kill the network!
Thanks to @fobikenobi for pointing to the tutorial

I have the same experience, the icon shows you internet is not connected but actually connected and the worst thing is that it cause the setup wizard cannot continue due to no wifi network is connected !
Also, the detection of the SIM is a problem, not always work, many times it cannot detect the SIM card !
A partner of another forum has discovered how to enter and we don't have the connection problem:
- Install only the rom
- Configure (Probably the system say that you don't have internet, but it works)
- Reboot, install the gapps.
- Enjoy and test!
What twrp did you use? Can you post it here but 100% working one.
I currently have 2.8.0. Installed becaouse all of the 3.0 versions i installed gave me this is for leo, your device is libra or something like that..
@brajks , I use the 3.0.2.0 by Ivan.

2) Smart lock is missing in this Rom?
3) after i.make call, phone reboot.
Not for daily use.

At first worked like a charm. But after a full day of use, wifi stops working and apps report no Internet connection.
Sadly not for daily use still.

Permanently Changed MAC Address!!

Hey there. I recently flashed Resurrection Remix OS on my My Mi A2 and rooted with Magisk. After that, for a purpose , I wanted to change the MAC address of my phone(Mi A2) to my previous phone's MAC Address , for which I did install a application from Playstore called "Change Mac Address". I gave that Root access and tried to change it , it showed success but it indeed didn't change the mac. After that i Tried installing 2-3 different apps and they also failed to change it. Few mintues later I rebooted my phone and I see that my MAC has been changed to the MAC address I wanted to change and its now permanent. I tried rebooting several times and it has been the same. And Also I don't remember my original mac address so I don't know what to do . Now please tell me what should i do , and how can i get my original MAC address back to Original . And yes when i reboot my phone it first show mac address as (02:00:00:00:00).. something like this untill i turn on my wifi. I'm a bit worried about this issue . And please tell me what should I do and does changing mac affects my Phone's performance ?!
Try flashing stock modem.img from your rom / from PIE
Erecik, will it wipe all my data and how I can I find the file?
you have the original mac on the box of the phone
before the wifi is turned on the mac address is always 02:00:00...
dont mess around with flashing the modem img, you can break a lot of other things, the app has written the new mac on the efs of the phone, only way to revert is to write the original from the box

Thank you so much for the help man. Can you tell me how it happened or is it caused because I used several apps(each app has its own way to change) ? And also Tell me which is the best Mac changer app that I can use without any problem. Please give me link to that app. It will be so kind of you.
just pick the one with the best user reviews on the play store, use just one, doesn't matter which one. whichever you use, you probably need to set, it, restart the phone and then the new mac will show.if you write the original mac from the box it will be like you never changed it.
even if you then uninstall the app i t should still keep the previously set mac.

Okay I didn't knew that we have to restart after changing the Mac. And also the first app didn't change Mac even after restarting so that maybe not working I'll use another app. Thank you so much man . I'll reply here or dm if I get any other query. Thank you so so much
no problem, sorry i've never used many of them so i can't recommend any, i just know how they work (they basically write with root the efs file that holds the mac address of the wifi chip) so it's quite normal for the os to need a restart before the change is "seen"

Unable to detect simcard and wifi and locked after miflash

Hello fellas,
I got a huge problem here, I flashed official global ROM on my mi8 and f*cked up something, after reboot I have no wifi (can't activate the wifi module) and my simcard is not detected anymore, I just have blutooth working. And the problem is that in the latest version of miflash, there is no box to uncheck where it says that it will perform a flash & lock the bootloader...
So now i have to unlock the bootloader but is says that I need to link my mi.com account and insert a simcard to do so.
I think something went wrong with network modules
So my question is how can I unlock the bootloader without using a simcard ?
Thanks a lot for your responses :fingers-crossed:

You will need to use an older version of miFlash, and make sure that you use USB2 ports, or a USB hub.
Scroll to the bottom of this page and you will see many versions of miFlash : I use Mi-FlashTool_20181115.zip
When you flashed Global were you using a recovery based rom or a fastboot Rom? My guess is recovery based rom because usually you have to seek out the fastboot roms.
It is very likely that you have some corruption is your persist partition. This can be resolved by flashing a fastboot based stock rom.
Unfortunately I can't find it on the official site at the moment, but I found this : https://support.halabtech.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=file&id=230361
When you boot up dont worry about the sim card if it is not connecting right away, just stay focused on connecting via WIFI and then sign into your MiCloud account using your WIFI. After you have completed that step continue with setup and you sim card should start working, if you get a message that it can't sync with the server just disregard it, but verify that you are getting a signal, then check and make sure that you are using the correct APN. Manually enter your carriers APN info if needed.

Persist can be fixed by flashing fastboot rom through miflash? Or "flash_all.bat" method?
Thanks

Yeah usually, as long as it's a recent stable fastboot rom. Beta usually works but not always. I made several versions a persist fix file. The version based on stable worked for a couple of people.
I would rather that people use the fastboot rom. but worst case scenario I can share the flashable test file if needed. Even though it worked for a couple of people, whoever flashes it must accept all risk.
Thank you for your reply, I will try this tonight
Humm with locked bootloader, miflash prompts an error "Erase is not allowed in Lock State", what seems logic after all. But to unlock i need a sim, which is not detected

So you accidentally re-locked your bootloader?
You have the phone in fastboot mode while attempting to flash? If phone is bound to you, you can also try using EDL mode.
If both both fail try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.
It should not matter as long as the phone is registered to you and its linked to your personal miCloud account. When you boot the phone sign into WIFI, and you can bypass temporarily bypass the sim card request.
Usually a popup will appear asking you to sign into your MiCloud account...use the same desktop that you used to initially unlock the bootloader. Be sure to use a USB2 port, if it still fails try using a usb hub.
As mentioned in an earlier post you must use a fastboot rom, and you do not need to use MiFlash, you can instead use the flashall.bat method.

Flicking Lock Screen after update to latest Android 11 OTA update

I just saw an update notification that Android 11 had been released. Since my phone was running Android 10, I proceeded the update without hesitation (and without backup). The phone is running stock rom without root (I guess I did unlock the bootloader but couldn't confirm since this new rom version cannot boot into fastboot mode). After update, the lock screen keeps flicking and I cannot unlock the phone. I tried booting into safe mode but got the same flicking lock screen.
The rollback pack has flagged 'ota-downgrade=yes' so data will always be wiped.
Code:
... "ota-downgrade=yes" will be set in the package metadata file. A data wipe will always be enforced when using this flag...
I guess my last hope is that
Option 1) Wish I really did unlock the boot loader and some gurus found a way to boot into fastboot mode and flash the customer recovery/android 10 so I can pull my photos/videos by adb.
Option 2) Tried booting into recovery but no new OTA update available. Wait for new OTA update
Option 3) Some found a way to
a) boot into EDL/Download mode and
b) flash TWRP/Android 10 using QPST/QFIL (Not possible currently since Qualcomm QPST/QFIL tools did not work and official realme flash (MSMDownloadTool) ALWAYS wipe your data!)
Option 4) Someone got the private key so we can sign our customized-made update_pack and copy photos/videos to OTG USB Drive under Recovery.
Option 5) Someone share a rollback pack with 'override_timestamp=yes' instead of "ota-downgrade=yes" so data will NOT be wiped
Any comments are welcome

No.
I want my data back and waiting for next update seems to be the only hope. Reported to realme but get no response.
If you have similar issue and don't care your data, you can do factory reset.
Am on the same boat here, Bluetooth devices still get automatically connected, USB works (mouse and keyboard) but still haven't found a way past the flicking login screen.
Happened overnight and last backup was quite a few months ago, definitively need to get the data back.
- Edit: Booting to safe-mode doesn't help either.
- Edit2: Can't attempt any update because the device is not accepting my lockscreen password either.

If you disabled or uninstalled the coloros calendar package via ADB, enable or reinstall it again via ADB, the new System UI in the Android 11 update relies on it
This really sucks.
Any solution yet? Would be happy if I could just get access to my photos...
BTW for future reference, I'm on a Realme X Lite. I actually was positively surprised with this phone (up and running perfectly for over 2 years), but this policy is quite shocking...

I forgot what I exactly did to get out of the situation. From what I very vaguely remember, it might have involved tapping where the Allow button would be very quickly before the whole UI crashes. Then, depending on whether you disabled or uninstalled the weather package, you either enable or "install-existing" the package name.

Thanks for the tips. It seems my situation is a bit difference. I can't even see the unlock pattern screen to let me unlock the phone before I can tap "allow" for USB connection and entering ADB commands. Maybe yours have the screen lock disabled before updating.

Unbricking from FRP using a ROM?

I don't have my username or password for my US997 G6 and I tried loading the .kdz ROM from the factory using LGUP and the phone in Download Mode. That didn't really start from a clean slate since the problem still happens.
After boot it it wants to connect to wifi in the new phone setup and then get me to login to google. I can't login. The phone has an unlocked bootloader, I get scary danger text when initially powering it on but I can only do download mode I think?
How could I lay a ROM on it that wipes the FRP account w/out booting to fastboot? Is there a hack I could do? I'd hate to toss the phone, it still is a great device.
Do you have android 7.0? Or newer?
If you have nougat than you can unlock it in 5-15 seconds making initial configuration screen crash and ending up on home screen.

I did have Android 7. I followed that tutorial but when the screen was bypassed, the phone did an automatic wipe and did a factory reset and put the phone back to a brick state.
Motivated by that video, I retried the steps but this time after connecting to WIFI and before doing the bypass, I disabled the internet on the WIFI hotspot but kept the WIFI connection UP. Then followed the steps so Android couldn't connect to the internet and it let me in. Thank you!!
Factory Reset Protection is generally an anti-theft measure; the best way around it is to reset your Google password.
Otherwise, a method for FRP unlock is available on the XDA Portal.
@powershift if this is a device you recently purchased, I'd suggest contacting the seller. If it actually is your device, try resetting your Google account password using a PC.
If you still need it done I can let you know what I did, and share the files. Spent about 14 hours finally figuring out a method around the FRP. It will depend what version it's on though
