General Hey i've got MIUI 12.5.1 on my Redmi Note 10 Pro (Global)...And... - Redmi Note 10 Pro

...It is still crippled by the forced feature of only having 10 seconds AOD! i hoped and prayed this would of been sorted by now with the infamous MIUI 12.5.
It obviously didn't matter about the other threads i posted (and asking support over on Twitter) as it seems nobody else is bothered? so it appears other users are happy to either resort to rooting their phones and using Magisk or removing MIUI optimisation via developer options just to have a working AOD?
I for one am NOT! why should i? Its dangerous and you lose certain elements. i bought the phone for this feature, they took out the notification light so the least they could do is have an AOD that's, you know...ALWAYS ON!
I'm sick of having to wake my phone all the bloody time just to see if anything has turned up or if i missed a call when i wasn't around near my phone. This is not too much to ask, but it seems everybody else is fine with it? WHY?
On topic, i don't see much change from 12 apart from the sounds being different, a slight increase in speed..oh an the volume bar is different..woo!
(notes got an update waaay before i received 12.5 so that was nothing new.)
Oh, AND STILL NO SUPER WALLPAPERS!
Colour me unimpressed.
P.s this is copied from my MI account on their forums, so not specifically aimed at XDA folks.

Totally agree with you, I've heard they do this to make the false sensation of this being a premium feature, so they push users to buy expensive phones.
For 12.5 I expect proper AOD, super wallpapers and FIXED DEEP SLEEP.. Im tired of losing 20% battery overnight

Plus 1 on the AOD 10 second issue, there's absolutely no point in AOD if it's only on for 10 seconds. I've submitted an issue with Xiaomi Services and Feedback and they came back saying it was for battery drain reasons, which is bull****! Makes more sense to add the option for always on instead of 10 seconds and let the user decide!

My 168 hours will be up this afternoon at which time I'll hopefully be unlocking my BL and flashing MiuiMix. It gives the option to have AOD always on.
I totally agree, I shouldn't have to flash a rom just to get a working AOD but I also want call recording and if MiuiMix on my Mi 9T Pro is anything to go by, it is much better than stock.
I'll see how MiuiMix goes and I might also have a play with the unofficial LineageOS release that looks promising as well.

Yeah it's pretty bad, I got a reply from the developers saying it's for battery too, seems to me it's an artificial cap for their low end devices.

Yep total bollocks on the battery drain issue. If anything i waste more battery turning the bastard on and off every frigging 5 minutes (at full brightness) just to see if anything has turned up! An AOD (like on my GF's Mi9 is in a very low brightness state which moves every 2 minutes to prevent burn in) should be implemented on their midranges too...But it seems like it's a feature deliberately only available on their flagship products...If that's the case it's discriminatory and bang out of order.
Please guys tweet @XiaomiSupport as much as possible and get Redmi Note 10 users to do the same, also use the inbuilt feedback on your phones...i'll post a screenshot in a tick on how to do it.
Come on comrades if enough of us keep harassing and threatening to boycott they will have to take notice.

1 : Settings (scroll right to the bottom)
2 : Service and feedback (ignore FAQ)
3 : Suggestions (tick box)
4 : Enter your grievance (I did mine via my phone so due to predictive text a few mistakes, but you get the gist)
5 : Select item (home screen + settings - always on display)
6 : enter your email. (Send)
Try and highlight that is not too conserve battery as you waste more battery turning it on and off, and that their flagship phones have it... If you pre-empt their stock reply you have more chance of not being fed bull****.
Good luck lads

You can't do it any longer Xiaomi have greyed out the option. (or it just isn't there)

Near the bottom of developer options there should be an option in the Autofill section called 'reset to default values'. Apparently if you tap this a few times the switch for MIUI optimization will appear again

Yep, pretty annoying. That's why I switched to PixelExperience I did notice a battery drain though when using it.
I'm now using NotifyBuddy, an app that only turns on AOD when I have a new notification. It replaces the notification led. Works well.

My 2 Cents till now about the M20Po

Well.. here goes another post, right?
Just needed to say my 2cents about this phone which i was waiting for impatiently.
To be clear, I've owned the Mate 9, Mate 10 & P20pro loved them all when they came out. But this is a different story. I'm also on .122, no gluegate issues, no face unlock issues, or other (guess i'm lucky).
- Bluetooth issues when connecting to my car (WTF!). Connection is done well for normal phone connections, but to play media, i had to put in airplane mode and reconnect 3-4 times.
- The display more like the font DPI and Notifications... what the hell Huawei? It's ugly. When you try to change the DPI those notifications are atrocious.
- Notification bugs on lockscreen : It's hard to sweep them out, to delete them or even to read them.
- Status bar : Huawei could of implemented, like on the Pixel 3XL , that if you want to hide the notch, have another line appear where you could see all the notifications. Not ideal... but an "option". Or choose the icons you want to appear, and not needing to go ADB style in your phone.
- Browsing the net on Chrome : Again a DPI issue, which doesn't fully, logically and normally set the page correctly.
- Camera : Sorry to say, but it's not a wow for my daily usage. I'll give it a couple more testing days, but in general i'm not impressed by the focus speed of moving objects (kids & dogs). Still images yes, for sure. But when you live a life as a family guy you need to be quick to snap that right moment when your kid or dog is doing something crazy. And it just doesn't make it happen.
- Camera lenses : I miss the BW lens honestly speaking. Changing it to a wide angle might please some people, but the BW pictures i used to take with the phone on the go are gone. Those pictures used to be great (+1 for P20Pro)
- Speakers : Dual ? *cough* *cough*. I feel the are muffled, not clear.
- Wifi Connection : Now that's a funny one... i have a 500/150 connection. On wifi my Note9 goes up to 487/127. My Mate 20p does 80/65. Once i go into recovery and clean the cache.. it hits 380/120. Then messes up again during the day.
- Dual SIm : Sometimes i have my second SIM card having issues. The "not registered on network" kind. I have to switch to airplane mode and back to make it work. If i don't see it right away people can't reach me..
- GPS : Works great, really.
- Battery : So yes.... it has has a great battery, not to forget that you need to go into the settings and put the apps you really don't want to get closed in manual. Otherwise, baby cams, waze, and other notifications don't come through.
I really expected another experience than this, I thought they learned and listened to their customers, but they didn't. I hope they will resolve the issues down the line. I feel sorry for the guys that have a Gluegate phone, i just think that is unacceptable for a phone with such a price tag.
I really hope Huawei are gonna do something about it, this is why i'm keeping it in the drawer waiting for a new firmware. It took the p20pro 3 4 firmwares to make it a great phone.
Back to my Note9 in a couple of days once i finished really testing this camera out.
Hey for the notch you can change this in under settings click, display, then more display settings then notch. Should fix it for you
Android auto works mostly but not for the phone option. That's my grumble right now

Thanks, but did that. I think there is an option on the 3XL that the notch goes down a bit, and then you can see the notifications like a normal status bar. But you lose screen size by doing that... i read that somewhere, but can't find it.
Sounds almost exactly like my post. Pixel 3 comes at the end of the week. Sadly only the 64gb version in black, but you can't have everything.

Yea, read yours which gave me the inspiration to type mine. Funny that you mention the 3xl...I've been looking and reading reviews on it for the last hour.
3 things scare me though
1. The battery life, 2. The lack of RAM and 3. non dual SIM. On the last point, I can't understand why having an eSIM and a physical SIM they didn't put two IMEI like the iPhones...crazy. but that camera is really tempting. Been testing the M20Pro Vs my Note 9 cameras this evening... I have to admit I still prefer the m20 pro's.

I get where you are coming from on this. Unfortunately I have the glue issue, but non of the others.
The internet speed thing, well my internet connection at home is 100mb and this is enough for me.
As for the camera, the Note 9 will blur photos of almost anything especially kids and pets, and even more in low light. The note 9 camera is actually pretty terrible and I have one as well.
If you want photos of kids and pets, only the Pixel 1 / 2 /3 will do that.
I do miss the Monochrone but not for monochrome photos, I don't rate those, but for image quality. Low light, especially night mode, is much worse on the mate, almost unusable actually.
I can come across online as nasty or confrontational but I do truly hope you find an experience you deserve from a phone, I know the struggle of trying to find the right phone, I have been buying almost every single flagship barring iphones for years and still not there.
The mate 20 pro with the versatility of the wide lens was almost it, but if my replacement comes and has issues, I will stick with my Note 9 and buy a pixel 1 for photos as the pixel 3 camera is not really improved on it. It takes shots of moving subjects perfectly and low light shots are taken very well as well.

I took my p20p out yesterday, and tested the 3. I have to admit that the p20p takes better pictures out of the bunch. Never tested a pixel before due to the lack of dual sim. Butbim really curious to test it out this time. Just worried about the battery, ram and well....missing the dual SIM.
The note 9 takes great pictures when in full sunlight but tested inside pictures last night. And I discovered it had a lot of flairs due the lighting. Mate 20 I feel has a lot of noise in general.
But most of my requirements are GPS , BT music (car), camera (kids and all) , battery and logical easy clean UI....and of course a good screen.
I neaaaaaaarly , really neaaaaaaarly hesitated to get the iPhone XSmax dual....but my soul and geek mind started playing rehab from Amy Winehouse in my head. I haven't touched (except my wife's) an iPhone for over 5 years.
Last night I was on the verge of keeping the Mate 20, but turned the phone on this morning to a list of weird and empty notifications which cemented my decision. If the Pixel 3 and 3 XL were made by Huawei and running pure Google software, you would never need to buy anything else.

charging status on aod

After updating to pie the aod shows the charging status & estimated time on the bottom that to in white font & it is not moving
It can cause screen burn plz forward this to Samsung offical as it is a serious issue

You realize you can change the AOD to Tap to Display, so it's not always lit up. Or if you typically charge the phone overnight like me, you can schedule AOD to oy turn on during the day.
But if i charge overnight it will be there for the whole night . As it in white & it doenst move so it can cause screen burn very easily.
& i like to have aod on all the time

Then that is the risk you take. If you don't want it to burn in, then change it to tap to display or turn AOD off while charging.
Sir it was not like that before so it must be bug . As it not suppose to be there . They know that if you want that info to be there then it has to move .
Turning off is not solution to it

It's not a bug, it's a design decision from Samsung. You have the solution, so whether you choose to implement it or not is up to you. Glad I could help and have a great day!!
Its not there in note 9 or s9 or any other phone then why would they add the feature in 2 year old that to in new system update. Its common sense.
& using aod is just tap to show is not the sol. If they wanted that then the same thing will be there in note 9 or s9 .
Have you tried factory resetting your phone? Sometimes OS changes can cause bugs.
Or did you try clearing the AOD data and cache?
I would do a factory reset and see. (I think Samsung will tell you the same thing to make sure it's a bug and not a corrupted file from the OS update. )
Use the Samsung plus app to report the bug or Samsung's own forum where they monitor.
We at xda can only give you some ideas to try but we can't fix it because we don't work for Samsung and this is not a Samsung company forum.
It's a good idea to always reset the phone for new OS upgrades.
Let us know after the factory reset if the bug is still there.
Yes sir,
i have tried cleaning app date thing but it still the same . Also i have reported it to Samsung lets see if they reply . In Meantime i was just pointing it out here so if any one can help or any 1 is having the same prob can comment on it.

Incorrect. It is also present on my Note 9 running official Pie. I'll check my wife's S9+ after it updates to Pie, but I bet it's on there as well.
Again, it's NOT a bug. What it is, is a design decision you don't like. You can turn off AOD to avoid the burn-in. You can set it to tap to display.
I'm telling you how to fix your problem, but you are so determined you are correct, and you aren't. It is not a bug it is a feature of Pie.
Again, its NOT just the Note 8. I have in my hands right now a Note 9 running N960USQU1CSAA and the charging percentage and estimated time to charge appear on the AOD when the Note 9 is on the charger.

Have a look at this thread here. This person posted a screenshot of the official changelog for the Pie update. If you scroll down the screenshot a tiny bit, you will see information about the AOD and it explicitly states the charging information has been added. Like Mr. Orange keeps trying to tell you, Samsung did it intentionally, just like they did other things on the Pie update that people don't like. If you don't like it, find a way to work around it, or go back to Oreo. Those are your options.
Ok got it they have added it .
But if i want aod alwyas is there any way around to be safe frome this ?

Well, you're not supposed to leave your device on charge for 6 hours at a time, anyway. You're not supposed to leave your device on charge over night. Ideally you would only charge it for an hour or two at a time, and even then, during that time you would be using your device at least once or twice, turning it on, thereby not leaving the AOD the only thing on the screen for that entire duration. And, even if you didn't use your phone while it's charging, it's very dim and not on full brightness, so the chances of it burning in that short duration is a lot lower.

You can't have both I guess. I wanted a Jeep Wrangler but also wanted to get 30 miles per gallon. Not possible. So I sacrificed gas mileage for a vehicle I enjoy driving.
You want AOD on all the time, but you don't want the charging status to show while you're charging it. You can't have both. So you will either have to shut off AOD while charging or risk screen burn-in I guess.

HUGE ISSUE! Custom ROM’s spoiling the display panel! + Solution!

Okay, now that I got your attention, this is a SERIOUS issue. You may not even realise it, but if you’re not using MIUI, you pretty much have a Screen Burn In / Image Retention problem on your RN 8’s display. It’s temporary though, and goes away after a while. You can see for yourself, but I’ll come to that, and also to why it doesn’t really happen in MIUI. Also, the RN 8 isn’t the only device affected!
The issue:
This never happened over the 5 months I’ve used MIUI. It’s been a month since I flashed Pixel Experience Q, and I’ve noticed when opening Reddit, in its dark grey splash screen, I could see my notification bar and some app’s hamburger menu faintly. It started bothering me, and I started researching. How can I get burn in on a new device!? And heck, it’s an LCD. Turns out I’m not the only one. A quick Google search on “Redmi Note 8 Screen Burn In” gives you tons on people complaining, even here on XDA. Many think it’s a hardware issue, and replaced their display and still faced it!
See for yourself:
Open this dark grey picture linked below in full screen in your gallery. You may notice the notification bar burnt in. For a better example, exit your gallery with that picture open, set brightness to 100% and screen timeout to 2 mins, light mode, and just open settings and leave it alone. After almost 2 mins, quickly go back to your gallery with the picture open. You’ll see settings lightly imprinted into your screen!
Here’s the dark grey picture:

Here’s how it looks (sorry for the crappy quality!):
https://imgur.com/v2U8kKu
Solution:
Turns out that the Tianma LCD display panel found in most Xiaomi devices, like the RN 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, Mi 5 etc have to have a specific colour calibration. You need to set the Red, Green & Blue values to 90% in your ROM’s colour calibration. Take a look at these:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Here’s how colour calibration should look, I stole this image from somewhere
https://imgur.com/pgTExqo
MIUI already has the right calibration by default.
But here comes the biggest problem for some of us. Pixel Experience Q, the most popular Custom ROM for RN 8, doesn’t have this option. I tried Franko Kernel Manager with the stock Kernel and Genom kernel, and the display RGB values make no effect. So as of now, I’m stuck with this. Any tips? ROM’s like Havoc should have it though. So dev’s, please set this as the default colour calibration value!
I hope this helped, I put 2 hours of effort into it haha.
On another note, I hope y’all are staying safe from this epidemic!
bro i have it in miui .. its hardware not soft .. i noticed it in different xiaomi devices like note 8 - note 7 - and sure poco f1 .. then noticed it in realme 5 pro .. not found in my very old samsung grand prime / though companies nowadays go to those low end panels .. all of them
I have the same issue on MIUI (stock rom) too.
I did the exact same steps you described and I got the burn in. Well it is not much, I could see it only on full brightness though. Not much of an issue for me on such a budget phone tbh.
Changing the color calibration for all colors to 90% might help to reduce this burn-in, speaking of custom roms to include this as a default setting.
But it won't help with this cheap panel, which is ineed a hardware issue anyway.
Setting all 3 colours to 90 % just reduces overall brightness nothing else.
Thank you! Display colors can be changed on crDroid 6.4
https://t.me/InceptionNote8/66967
this works well for me, use franco kernel manager
It is not the rom issue
I'm seeing this issue in stock rom and i never changed roms till now. It is bcoz of poor quality display panel. Get it replaced ASAP before warranty runs out
I dont know if this is universal but setting the colour tone to cool fixes the issue completely in my redmi note 8
just change the color calibration to this and voila, u never experience burn in screen anymore. i changed it couple weeks ago and no burn in AT ALLL untill this day!

I own a MI A1 it's 2 years, 9 months, 2 weeks, 3 days Old and has screen burns in.
not unlocked bootloader.
no twrp,custom roms,rooting.
but being a budget device (having eMMc type of storage) i have no regrets it performs very well against phones of Exynos 9609(UFS2.0), SDM665 (UFS2.1).
Comming to the topic "screen burns" will go away on its own not a matter of Great concern, leave it like that only it will automaticly go away its not Permanent .......... :fingers-crossed:

Question Burn in Display in 6 days

Hello how are you ?
I tell you that I have the OnePlus Ace (converted to 10R) for about 6 days and since yesterday Wednesday after updating I began to notice that the clock in always on display was marked on the display of the phone, the same happens to me with other applications like Facebook or Instagram and not to mention the notification bar.
The strange thing is that after having a good time it goes away.
What dou you recommend? Purchase was by Aliexpress

It is never a good idea to use Always On with oled displays. These type of screens are prone to that, of course not in 6 days, but, letting it all day on, specially with a display that suffers with burn in, sooner or later this will happen.
In your case, you could try the refund or return policy from aliexpress, either way I'm pretty sure you will lose money.
If the text doesn't move vertically every dozen or so seconds in AOn mode, keep it disabled (check after each OTA/custom ROM). In case you got a burn-in while the phone does proper moving of the AOn text, that's definitely a display hardware defect.

Question Current usability of the xiomi 11t pro

Hey guys i was thinking of getting the 11t pro,and for a few reasons i can only go for a mi phone at the moment ( i actually am getting quite a large discount from mi store in India). So my question have most of the issues like the overheating been ironed out or are there still issues with it and what other minor/major issues are there with the phone cuz for some reasons finding issues with this phone seems quite difficult on YouTube or else where. And how is the display and have there been any cases of black crush issue on the display. Thank you
Got the phone in January and have no issues whatsoever. The last update we got and I have no more heating issue. Screen has never given a problem either.

I am glad to know that. Is there any other quirk to the phone? And I would also like to ask you is there an option to disable the 120watt charging and like limit it to like 60 or something?

That option only exists in xiaomi.eu rom, and it's an option to either turn on or off, you can't adjust the voltage, with stock rom then no. If you want slower charge just get a slower charger imo.

Do you game on your phone much? I'm thinking of picking up an 11t pro, and wondered what temps were like for gaming when playing something heavy like genshin or similar. I was wondering if lowering the graphics/screen rate would prevent the phone from overheating....?

Same all the reviews said there isn't overheating but there is heavy throttling. But those were from months ago hence i am not sure if that is still the case or they fixed the issues with a software update.
Amazing phone for the price but also annoying and bad. The screen is horrendous. Proximity sensor is the biggest let down of this phone. I'm constantly tapping the screen to wake the phone up. It's just not responsive to wake and also unusable while making a call. Every single app is pressed with your ear while making a call, then it becomes impossible to hang up or go back to phone dialer. This is a deal breaker for me, I would not recommend this phone. Running the latest global 13.0.4 MIUI.
At this moment I'm thinking of getting a 12 Pro but I'm afraid it might have the same issue due to virtual proximity sensor. Might need to go for a OnePlus 9 pro or 10 pro. But this phone needs to go cause the screen will drive you insane

I'm going to do a complete reset and try an EU ROM and see if there's any improvement. Cause apart from the screen issue I have this phone is a good phone, especially for the price and spec
