Hello I am a nubee with an eTuxcar custom head unit for Audi A6 825X Pro (Flip out touch screen) - Introductions

Hello android fans, I recently bought a custom head unit for my Audi A6 from Chinese company called eTuxcar. I am a real nubee when it comes to Android so am finding my way around it somewhat. The unit itself identifies as an 825X Pro with Android-Trunk-p0.825X_pro. And the following full-825x_Pro-Octa 10 PPR1.180610.011 eng.root.20200426.093427 userdebug. Having spent 30years of my working life in the computer industry and now retired I am well behind the curve with OS and coding. I belong to several groups who provide open data based on Raspberry Pi and GPS such as OpenStreetmap and ADBS-Exchange and believe whole heartedly in shared Big Data.
If you can stop me bricking my android head unit or falling down a rabbit hole please shout.
Mark

Hello - New Guy here

Android enthusiast. Been around since the internet came into existence. Used to play DOS PC games and spent my childhood on the Nintendo systems until I built my first PC.
Recently put a JY-UQ138N4G-H Joying Android 10 stereo head unit in my vehicle and I'm having issues with it. Worked great for 30 days, but now locks up and freezes so I'll be hitting the search and forums trying to find solutions. I think it's a cooling problem. I put two 50mm heatsinks on it but still having issues.
I usually find XDA info posted across Reddit so I figured better to join late than never and explore what all XDA has to offer.

Nice intro, welcome aboard!

It’s Friday!

Hey everyone, I’m brand new to android and android head units too. I have a 2016 Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro X82 which is the same as a Renault Trafic, Nissan NV300, Fiat Talento depending on where you are. I’m in Northern Ireland.
Anyway, I’ve had this van for 4 years and it has the factory fitted DAB head unit (no nav) which never really worked very well and the Bluetooth support of Apple was crap. I use an iPhone, don’t shoot me!
So, someone showed me an android head unit they have in their car and I thought yes, I need one of those for the van. Sadly, not knowing much about them I bought one from eBay. It’s a vertical screen type which suits the van perfectly. I’ve got it all fitted and working retaining steering wheel controls etc. I’ve a few questions and issues with it I’m looking for guidance with but I’ll do that in the relevant places.
Thanks for looking!

A warm welcome to XDA! I hope you'll always get the support you require. Don't hesitate to contact the moderators team in case of any site related question or if assistance is required; however, for technical support our very knowledgable members are better suited.
And nobody would shoot you. XDA even has an iPhone related forum:
Apple iPhone 12
The Apple iPhone 12 is a 6.1" phone with a 1170x2532p resolution display. The Apple A14 Bionic chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. The main camera is 12+12MP and the selfie camera is 12MP. The battery has a 2815mAh capacity.

Did you already explore this forum? Maybe a good place to first search for solutions to your issues or to place your questions afterwards?

I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band...

Newbie here. Totally clueless. My primary reason for getting an account is to learn more about car Android head units. My factory OEM head unit has failed, and rather than spend a lot of money replacing an outdated and quirky unit, I decided to purchase a more up to date and probably still quirky Android unit.
I'll probably be asking a lot more questions and seeking enlightenment than providing any help -- at least for now. Once I get up to speed, I hope I can contribute to the great community.
I'm currently using an iPhone, a MacBook Pro, a Win 10 laptop, a Plex server. I'm eager to dabble with Android tablets, phones.

Hello from nomike

HI!
I'm nomike (pronouns: they/them) living in Vienna/Austria.
I started rooting phones and putting aftermarket firmware on them back with my Samsung Galaxy S4 and CyanogenMod.
I regularly relied on posts here at xda for that and now finally created an account as I'm currently trying to mod a medion lifetab X10302 and need some advice on that.
I'm currently almost 40 years old and with 23 years of linux experience, the majority of those as a developer, sysadmin and cloud specialist, I consider myself an expert in that. I haven't rooted and modded android devices that frequently, so I'm certainly no expert there. I haven't kept track of the changes in the modding scene (e.g. I never used Magisk and don't yet fully understand the concept behind it or what it actually does), but I'm a quick study and I'm generally not that afraid of pushing a button to see what happens.
I have developed a couple of small open source projects over the years, but none of them are in widespread use, as far as I know. Probably at least partly because I don't care marketing them. And I collect small snippets on my personal homepage, but also not all too much.
My personal interests are collecting vinyl records (especially progressive rock), t-shirts, and retro computers (Commodore 64, Commodore 128. Amiga 500, Amiga 600, Atari 1040STFM), playing the drums and I'm currently learning how to play the guitar. Besides that I'm quite active in the local polyamory scene and I'm regularly giving talks and organizing discussion groups about safer sex, as I collected a lot of knowledge in that area in the last couple of years.
I guess that's all for the moment.
Cheers

Nice intro!, Welcome aboard

Howdy

So I have just joined the world of Android with a Chinese head unit for my prehistoric old banger.
I have so many questions and I probably won't understand the answers. I have already discovered that what a Chinese salesperson terms as plug and play, is just like a racecar guy saying "yeah it just bolts on" nothing could be further from the truth ! So after remaking the "plug n play" harness with the correct plugs to play with the canbus and the fibre optics I'm here to discover what I have actually purchased and how to Houdini it to my will. The first surprise was I purchased an Android 11 yet in the settings it says its Android 12 after reading so of the posts on here I reckon that's probably BS, yes I do know how search works and yes that's always what I do first only problem is from scrolling through these threads I still have no idea what I actually have as far as screen manufacturer, or software. So go easy on the Old guy, until I know which Mxxxxxxx I have
Welcome to XDA and enjoy the forums information!
