Question Help Needed - BDO Bank App Says Phone is Is High Risk/Rooted - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

This is my only financial app that won't work. BDO is a Philippines bank. My US banking apps all open fine.
I'm on EU 12.5.7 Stable. Flashed to 12.5.7 around ~2 weeks ago.
Anyway around this? BDO is possibly the worst banking app on earth - so I'm not entirely surprised it appears to be drunk here.
Thanks in advance!

Move to union bank or metro

You need to root and use Magisk...... then enable Magisk Hide and rename Magisk Manager. That is the only way if you unlocked the bootloader.

Delete the twrp folder using a file explorer app ( it will be empty and safe to delete) and the message goes away and you can install. I tried this for another user.

This worked - ty!

What's the path of that folder?

It is just in the normal storage, like where you download and documents folder sit.

You mean SD Card (internal)root directory? I have no TWRP folder in that directory.
BDO Digital Banking app opens but can't log-in, BDO Online app opens then close after the popup of Poterntial suspicious activity

I refer to the Xiaomi EU ROM. This has an open bootloader but shows as locked. If you are using a different ROM, then may be it won't work the same. If you have never installed twrp, then you won't have the folder.

I've had a lot of trouble with the BDO app, but I just got it working, on a Note 10 pro, running MIUI 12.5.9, unlocked and rooted. I'm not sure if all of these things were necessary, but this is what I did.
1. Delete the TWRP folder on the phone
2. Changed the name of Magisk in it's settings (I used Mi Cloud).
3. Added the BDO app to the DenyList, with Enforce DenyList on.
4. Added the Universal SafetyNet Fix module to Magisk.
SafetyNet passes, and DRM Info shows Widevine L1, and Netflix also works, for what it's worth.

Doesn't work for me. I even unroot my phone (Poco F1, EU ROM) but still got the error.
Will just use their website instead

BDO is so sht. Deleting the TWRP folder worked for me. Thanks!

With magisk you can hide root from apps

Since the BDO app update on Nov. 21, 2022, it's been broken again. Even with Magisk 25.2, Universal SafetyNetFix 2.4.0, with the app on the DenyList (enforced). I had a backup of the old app v6.2, so I restored that, and that's what I've been using. It only works for quick balance now, though, they disabled full access.
It may not be Magisk. In the past, if it detected a TWRP folder, that would do it. It could be something like that again, but not sure what. There's no TWRP folder, of course. v6.2 doesn't complain.

How to Hide Root from Apps via Magisk DenyList [Android 13]
In this comprehensive guide, we will show you the steps to hide root from apps and games using Magisk Denylist on Android 12.
www.droidwin.com
And all is good

That Is done already, and YASNAC passes. The new BDO app v6.3 still fails.

Tested both BDO banking and BDO online out of curiosity. Got the jailbreak/rooted device message at first.
After i deleted TWRP folder, tried again and can get to login screen , no more warnings.
I'm on xiaomi.eu V14.0.6 TKACNXM , not rooted.BDO app tested is v6.3.

Interesting. I did more testing with it today, but still no luck with it. I'm also running xiaomi.eu, but rooted, which I need for other things.
I do notice, under the DenyList, in addition to:
www.mobile.bdo.com.ph
There's a second entry for v6.3 that isn't there on v6.2:
www.mobile.bdo.com.ph_zygote
Both are checked, though. I also checked again to make sure there weren't any twrp folders I could find anywhere, so I don't think it's that.

I finally got the BDO app working with magisk and xiaomi.eu (I'm on 14.0.1.0 now, android 13), by using Magisk Delta, which is not official magisk.
[Discussion] Magisk Delta - Another unofficial third-party Magisk fork
This is not an officially supported topjohnwu project. If you are looking for official Magisk source, please go to this page Introduction Custom Magisk fork by HuskyDG. Sync with official Magisk adding back MagiskHide...
forum.xda-developers.com
It works with Magisk Delta, Zygisk, and SuList.
I could not get it to work with official Magisk v25.2. It may work with the later canary builds, but I haven't tried it. Also, to be clear, the BDO app works with xiaomi.eu without a problem if I'm not using magisk. Either way, though, you need to delete any TWRP folders.

Magisk Hide not working

I recently rooted my new Mi A2 Lite using Magisk.
So my current banking app detected the root and now I cannot use it anymore. I tried Root Cloak and MagiskHide but both of them did not work either. It still shows the message saying my phone is rooted.
How do I debug that now. I need it to be working anyhow.

I recently had the same problem, but with a different banking app.
What helped me in the past was to hide Magisk Manager with a random package name. It is an option in Magisk Manager itself. Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore but i could mask Magisk Manager with the Samsung app S Secure and now it's working again .
This was included in my Galaxy S7 ROM so you probably need to find the apk for the app or find a similiar working app for your phone model.
Hope this helps.

Open Magisk Manager, go to settings and tap on Hide Magisk Manager. If your banking app doesn't work right away try a restart. If it still doesn't work try to mask Magisk Manager with S Secure or similiar apps.

It does work, the steps I took were:
1) Install Banking app
2) Open it and get notified about the phone being rooted
3) Use Magisk Hide feature to hide the Banking app
4) Go to phone's app settings
5) Baking app settings
6) Clear storage data (Clearing only the cache could work too, I didn't test it)
7) Profit!
Hope that works for you.
Magisk hide doesn't seem to be working for me. Magisk says it's working and safety net passes, but I've tested multiple apps and they can see that I'm rooted. Hiding magisk with a random package name doesn't work either.
Yesterday I installed magisk and went to hide options and checked my banking app. I was amazed to see banking app allowing me to do everything without limited functionality due to "root" like before. But today banking app detected root again and limited all functions, how? There haven't been any updates for banking app yet it seemed to no longer be fooled by magisk.
Same goes for me with the K-Plus app as well. (สวัสดีคับผม) Use Magisk Hide to hide the root access but it crashes the bank app instead.
Not sure what I've missed.
Gpay and banking are still detecting root/custom rom
Magisk and manager installed.
module SaMoDXv1 installed.
Safteynet is showing green
gpay and banking apps hidden
Using hide magisk function
removed all Magisk related stuff from SD card.
Cleared cache from gpay and banking apps .
Turned off usb debugging.
What else is there?
Just installed root checker basic, it sees root. I hide magisk from it and it still sees root. Is that right?

Hi,
I'ould like installing Fde.ai on my One plus 6 rooted with Ice Renovate 11.1 rom, but I'm not sure that installation is compatible with "Rice tweaks", a tweak app for this rom no my device.
Peraphs there is someone who does know the answer?
Tks and regards.
Roberto
What I do
Go to setting -> Magisk Hide -> disable then enable.
This way worked with me .
I used Magisk Manager v 7.2.0 (213).
Magisk v 19.3 (19300).
What worked for me is using the "Hide Magisk Manager" feature in settings. Now apps are not promoting about device being rooted and are running fine now.
Anyone solved this problem?
I still have a banking app with this problem. I tried many times but still not working.

Root detected by GO MOBILE banking app

I've been scratching my head for weeks now this app keeps on detecting root on my device. I've previously tried canary build, but currently on 20.1 and it still detects it. App is MagiskHided, Magisk Manager repackaged, both SafetyNet basicIntegrity and ctsProfile is passed. My other banking app that also checks for root works, even the rootbeerFresh is showing all green and this app still detects root. I don't know what else to try.
Device Info:
OnePlus 6T running Evolution X rom (Android 10), I also tried on OOS pie, doesn't work as well.
Magisk 20.1
This app used to work just by MagiskHide and repackaging Magisk Manager, since the update, I think they changed something. Any help is appreciated.
I tested it right now and had no issues starting the app once added to the Hide list. OnePlus 3T, Android 9 (ArrowOS), Canary build 20302 with hidden Manager build 269.
That means Magisk can hide from the app just fine and there might be something about your specific setup that's being detected. Could be an app, could be a directory on your storage, could be the ROM itself (this is the second time lately that I've seen a user having issues with root detection on Evolution X, on a Poco F1 though. May be unrelated.).
As always, there are a lot of hiding tips available here:

I made sure that it could detect root first, so I opened it once without adding it to MagiskHide (got the same screen you showed above). And, I did not have to clear any data for the app after adding it to the list, it just started up without issue.

I'm not using any xposed so if you are on xposed try rename the folder of it usually it store on folder download on the internal if that doesn't work try to uninstal the xposed application on your mobile menu(you can instal it again after you're done with banking)
Another trick that I found latelly was I change the recovery ....any recovery besides the twrp (orangefox, pitchblack, batik etc)

any idea how to solve these issues
Note: My Bank app works after adding it to magisk hide and hide magisk app, which means i did it right.
thanks
anyone help me please
Have you tried removing the Magisk app? That's a popular way of detecting Magisk, even with a repackaged app. It's practically impossible to completely hide it on anything below Android 11, and even then it's necessary for the app to target A11 for full hiding to work (which won't happen until Google enforces that, maybe later this year).
Of course, Xposed/EdXposed/LSPosed tools can probably be used to hide the app fully...

thanks for your reply
if i removed magisk .. everything that use root will stop and i don't want that
also can you please tell me how to hide the app fully using EDXposed
I did not say "remove Magisk"... I said "remove the Magisk app". Just uninstall the app and try and see if Clubhouse still triggers. If it works we know it's looking for the app and you'll have to either freeze/uninstall the Magisk app when using Clubhouse and then reinstall it again afterwards, or use one of the available isolation methods. I've got a few of those mentioned here, but I'm sure you can find more if you search (it's been covered a lot):

Hi. I also have Magisk installed on my device. I uninstalled Magisk app, tried logging into clubhouse again, but still the issue persists.
After receiving the missed call while trying to sign in, I get the notification, 'There was an error please try again'
Clearing the clubhouse app data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app again hasn't helped at all. I get the same issue.
I have Magisk 23.0 installed on my Oneplus5T running Android 10.

No, I cant lock the boatloader because that's coussing Bootloop, because its not the default ROM (Chinese).
Hi,
what you need to do to pass Safety Net (assuming you have installed Magisk 23001, so the one still containing Magisk Hide):
1. Install the modules "Magiskhide Props Config" and "Universal Safety Net Fix" (current is 2.1.1)
2. in Magisk enable Magisk Hide and select Google Play, Play Services and (if used) Googe Pay
3. reboot
4. open a terminal, enter root mode ("su") and then "props", changing to the proposed Mi11 Ultra fingerprint
5. go to "Settings->Apps", find "Google Play Services", clear data & cache on that
6. reboot again (you will see a dialogue asking to confirm your Google account for backups if that is configured)
At least on my phones this procedure worked nicely (also on non Xiaomi, of course selecting another fingerprint ), hopefully also for you - and also despite an unlocked bootloader !!

Also If I wanna install the Universal Safetynet Fix 2.1.1 its fails because you need to have installed the module " Riru", 26.1.3 version from github. Is that correct?

Hi again
yes, you most possibly would need to select the banking app within MagiskHide... In addition some apps check for a ".TWRP" folder on the SDCARD, so in case the app still detects a modified system you could try removing this folder (if its there ).....
Also many apps detect Magisk when the Magisk Manager is not "hidden", so yes, using this setting is advisable as well...
Cheers,
Axel

Ah I dindt know that... I saw a dir of "TWRP" I deleted this.
- Check always in the folder for the dir. "TWRP" and delete this.
- So I need to select some apps such as a banking app to apply in the list of "MagiskHide", next to the following apps that are already listed such as; "Google Play Store(com.android.vending), Google Play-services(com.google.android.gms)" -*Just ticking/enabling the app it enable one of this services (com.xxx)
- Enable "Hide the Magisk app" in the settings, to be sure that is being hidden.
@s3axel Could you give me advise what to do when there is an OTA update, what is the process or handling to walkthrough? Do you still get Root? Or will it broken? If so, Do I need to reinstalla every module again?
Could you give a view what to do when you execute a Firmware upgrade / OTA?
Thanks so far budyy.
@aygul12345 as you are on Stock Global ROM keeping Root should be pretty straight forward (this is from memory as I'm on Xiaomi.EU where the procedure is slightly different, so others are welcome to chime in as well ) : just take the OTA, install it from within the system menu but DONT reboot just yet. After the update got installed and before reboot go to Magisk Manager and select direct installation - that should be everything you need to do.....

Yes, I'm sitting at the Stock - Global ROM instead of the default Chinese ROM (Bootloader - unlocked)
Thanks to you I'm finally passing the CTS - Profile check. By changing the fingerprint to "Xiaomi mi 11"
The strange thing was that I did this before but didn't worked out.. And now finally it worked out by the steps you mentioned. So many thanks!
I flashed also TWRP as recovery, and Download Magisk (23) 23000, changed it to .zip and installed it from TWRP - Also this gives me root access.
Before I did pathing the boot.img of the ROM, but its not needit anymore.
Thats why I don't know what is the logical, practical way to achieve the goal.
So back to point xD, When installing the OTA from STOCK - Menu I need to go to Magisk Manager and select direct installation. After that I can reboot the phone?
Hi, glad this worked out fine for you
Yes, after OTA installation and Magisk installation you can reboot.....
Please clarify which firmware did you use to convert it to Global?
I can't seem to find any official Global for Mi 11 Pro.

This link shows the name for both 11 Pro/Ultra, that seems a bit risky to flash.

Mitnykredit app does not work stealth root

The latest versions of this application do not work, when trying to open the MitNyKredit app, a website opens with information about the detected root. Is there any way to get this app? I will add that I tried all the available methods with hiding root.
If you truly tried all the available methods then you have your answer. However in the case you missed something you should describe everything you already did.
Are you referring to this app?
MitNykredit - Apps on Google Play
Gives you easy access to manage your daily finances both at home and on the go.
play.google.com
I can open it and get to login screen if it is in denylist, otherwise it opens a website indeed
Yes, it's about this app, Magisk hide, Lsposed, Shamiko.
Do you pass safetynet?
For me this app works with official magisk + denylist enforced + this app in denylist. Didn't even have to clear cache, just adding/removing it in denylist makes it work/not work.
I have universal safetynet fix mod by displax and I have modified props inspired by this post for my device which I believe to be "helpful" in this case.
As I wrote, SafetyNet is of course correct, otherwise other applications would not work for me. I only have a problem with this app (for now), the rest works after hiding root in Magisk. I don't know what the problem is
You never wrote that actually.
Perhaps try official magisk with denylist? Seeing as how that works for me for this app..I am not familiar with the forks of magisk and lsposed/shamiko stuff, but I browsed some of these threads and I saw "HideMyApp" thrown around a lot as well which I assume to be lsposed module, worth looking into I guess.
Of course, the newest Magisk, the newest Lsposed, and the Shamiko don't help. I checked older versions 7.2.1 of MitNyKredit app and it works without problem, and after installing the latest version it detects root ...
Try to use Island or Shelter. most bank Apps able to work this way
@Spartacus500
Ah, a fellow Dane. I know for a fact that MitID won't work because of the installed ROM Lineage OS. The apk somehow extracts information about the ROM.
Maybe the same goes for MItnykredit?
I have tried to make changes to the build prop without success.
