[Help] Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5050 - Mice

I have Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5050 and i've lost its dongle. I'm assuming some mastermind flicked the USB dongle from it thinking it to be a Bluetooth dongle.
I wanted to know i there is any way to either get the dongle from some store or Microsoft, in case it is not possible is there a way to use the keyboard & mice again! Its a shame that i can't use it anymore just due to a dongle.

Microsoft wireless recievers are set to their hardware in the factory. There is no universal or replacement option for these. Logitech has the option to replace these USB units with a universal piece that can be paired with existing hardware, so IDK why Microsoft is unable to do this. Unfortunately, it looks like you'll have to buy a whole new set.

What would you say is the most reliable device that you've used?

I've used both a Belkin USB Bluetooth Dongle and now I'm using the one that came with my Logitech MX5500 Bluetooth desktop and neither gave me any problems connecting the TyTN II for Activesync, printing or file transfer (though I've never tried any using Bluetooth PAN and Internet Connection Sharing as that'd be slower than USB 2.0). The beauty of using my current one is that it handles the keyboard and mouse as well so no other dongle is needed. I have used Widcomms stack but now I'm just using the Microsoft one for basic functionality. I did briefly use a non-name elcheapo dongle a few years ago when I trialed a Motorola A1000 for a couple of weeks but I found the software with that one was a nightmare. The 'currentish' Widcomm software that comes with the Logitech and Belkin is much more user friendly. See if what you want can use the default Microsoft Windows stack and that should give you some idea of its compatibility. Not exactly a review of all thats out there but I hope that helps.
Nearly the same here actually, MX5000 with the supplied logitech/widcomm stack. Works perfectly well for everything, including file transfer, sync, PAN, ICS, A2DP,... and doesn't even cause trouble using the keyboard/mouse while all that's running.
Other than that I have the integrated BT on my laptop, then the one of my previous laptop, works perfectly too... I actually never ran into a "bad" BT adapter, it just works. Except maybe for bluetooth 1.0 about 6 years back in the early days of BT, it was a nightmare and nothing would usually work. But since they got it right it's really reliable and easy
Sweet! Thanks guys. That sounds about what I'm looking for.
HI,
I have a $10.00 blutooth dongle I bought off e-bay.
The real magic is in the software.
Try finding a program called bluesoleil.
It hooks up any bluetooth dongle for just about anything,
Bluetooth PAN
BT DUN
BT Serial port
BT access service
BT file transfer
BT sycronization
BT push
BT printer
BT human interface device
BT FAx
BT Imaging (camera/video)
BT headphone
and BT headset
I use it for BT PAN to tether my tilt (although the speed is about 60% of USB connection. 1100kbps vs 1800kbps)
and for my BT headphone/headset.
It even switches between headphone and headset during a Skype call!
Give it a try.
SF
Only prob is that Bluesoleil is payware if not bundled with an adapter, and while it indeed is makes it pretty easy visually the others like Widcomm will do just the same.

Bluetooth Keyboard / Mouse

Not having much luck at locating a bluetooth keyboard and mouse (compact in size) that is proven to work with the HD2. Any help? Thanks.
I know this keyboard works ...

I use a full size apple bluetooth keyboard personally ...
Have not seen one , but I don't think a mouse will work at all, don't think the phone has mouse cursor support ...
MyMobiler
I use MyMobiler when I am at my computer. It allows me to use my computer to type and my mouse to click on things.

MyMobiler is so cool. While it doesn't replace a blue tooth keyboard and mouse, to be able to control your phone from the PC is mostly there. And it's free
Thanks for the link.
Well, there was one bluetooth mouse (regular small mouse, with scroll wheel and all) that, besides working on a regular PC with standard BT HID profile, came with a software driver for Windows Mobile, and one could use it with any WM device, so I assume it would work with the HD2.
It is the Stowaway BT Mouse, from Think Outside, the same company that made various full-size fold-up BT keyboards (which also work on any WM device).
Unfortunately, Stowaway was bought up by IGo (who mainly makes universal AC adaptors for laptops), and shortly thereafter, they shelved the whole product line. (Pretty dumb to buy up a company, then shelve its products, especially not being a competitor.) (And with the explosion in smartphones, I think that could be a growing niche, especially the keyboards. (Of course, now they would need to expand support for Iphone, Android, Blackberry, etc., as well as WM.)
So, that mouse and its software has been discontinued. However, I would bet that you could still find them on Ebay, Craigslist, etc. Look for Stowaway Bluetooth Mouse.

HTC One Dock to Desktop Solution

I came up with a simple solution for turning your HTC One into a semi-desktop environment. My goal was to create a connection path to a PC monitor, keyboard and mouse with a simple docking solution, a dock-and-go approach. Here is what I came up with and it works great:
1. HTC One (Sprint Red version, JB 4.1.2) w/ NFC Task Launcher
2. RoHS Dock (Model: I4SC-HTON) with micro-USB
3. Samsung TecTile
4. MenoTek MHL to HDMI Adapter with RCP
5. HDMI Cable
6. StarTech HDMI to DisplayPort converter
7. Lenovo ThinkVision PC Monitor
8. IOGEAR Multi-Link Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad GKM611B
The end result is that I come to work, dock my HTC One (NFC enabled) with the TecTile attached to the Dock to enable and search for my bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Once the peripherals are synched I toggle my monitor to the DisplayPort digital input and my Android desktop is ready to go. The entire process takes less than 1 minute. It allows me to operate independently from my business LAN using wifi or 4G, and from the comfort of my desk. The output is currently limited to 720p resolution, which I believe to be the MHL adapter, but I'm working on that. The above varies slightly with your specific hardware but the concept remains the same.
I've very happy with this solution and I wanted to share it with everyone here. :victory:

Sounds like a bit much. Depending on what you're needing it for, I guess some people could benefit. I just use AirDroid. As soon as I get to work I'm already connected to the office WiFi. Just go in and log in and I'm good to go. Can answer text messages, listen to music on my phone, view pictures, etc. Not a full experience, but it's enough for me.

I used to use AirDroid too, but I found that I didn't like my texts and emails going through my office LAN and business PC. I prefered having an parallel computing environment independent of the office, but one that transitions seamlessly. I have to agree, overkill, but fun! Go with what works for you!!!:good:

It's a great write-up, without a doubt. I may even try it myself just because I like doing stuff like that.

Making the most of bluetooth - the pc connection

So I have xt894 running cm12. I have a windows 7 pc.
What do I need to do to be doing what I could be doing?
Please open my eyes.

What is it you expect that you could be doing? :v
The last I checked, CM12 - PC works fine over bluetooth, though you'll need a decent bluetooth adapter (that comes with its own software), as Windows' bluetooth stack doesn't seem to like the $0.99 CSR-based adapters you can buy off eBay.
Alternatively, I guess you could buy a copy of Bluesoleil, since it replaces the Windows stack and makes said cheap adapters properly functional. Might be expensive, though.
i would like to have my pc lock when i walk away.
i would like music on my phone to be played on my computer speakers while within range.
I want my droid 4 to act as a mouse and keyboard.
I want it to be connected to multiple bluetooth enabled computers/devices and be able to select which device to output to using a menu on the droid.
games on my phone with a controller, in addition to other features yet thought of.
Ultimately, this is a very functional device.
have a great day.
thank you for your well formed replies.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been pretty busy with work this week.
I'm not personally familiar with any programs that do this, but it looks like this is what you're looking for.
To pipe music through to your speakers, you'll need an adapter that supports A2DP, or more ideally for sound quality, aptX. I would guess even the cheap adapters support A2DP, since it's older. The Windows bluetooth stack doesn't appear to offer any audio functionality with cheap CSR-based adapters (which more dollar ebay adapters are), but they might be A2DP-capable at least.
Even with the Windows bluetooth stack, you can use your phone as a keyboard/mouse. I used AndroMouse for this purpose a while back, and it (mostly) worked, but there are many apps that should work as well. Most if not all will require you to install a client program on your PC and run it whenever you want to connect.
As with the above, even the Windows stack allows using your phone as a controller; they all use the common Remote Control bluetooth profile. I tried out Ultimate Gamepad, and it seemed to work fine. I only tried playing a Gameboy game with it though, I'm not sure about its responsiveness for more demanding games...
If you shop a bit on ebay, some adapters include a disc with an older version of Bluesoleil, and others might come with a copy of CSR Harmony (they'll have a disc labeled "CSR 4.0" pictured, which could be anything really). If you're willing to spend $10 or so, you can usually find a few listings with adapters by IOGEAR, Insignia, etc other house brands which possibly have up-to-date software you can grab off their sites.
Cheaper than outright buying Bluesoleil, anyway.

Samsung dex

Hi all. I preordered the note 8 and here in Croatia as a gift I'm getting the dex station. So I'm thinking of buying all the dex peripherals before it arrives so I'm ready to use it when it finally does arrive. I'm going to be connecting dex to my tv so I'm going to get a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard. But my question is since both the mouse and keyboard use Bluetooth and i know Bluetooth 5.0 can connect 2 things at a time will I still be able t9 connect a 3rd device (Bluetooth earpiece because I think if someone calls me when I'm using dex it will be kinda easier to use an earpiece) or another phone to my note 8 to transfer files?
Would really appreciate any help. Thanks
Just use wireless keyboard and mouse instead of Bluetooth. There are two USB ports one for thumb drive or other usb devices and the other for mouse and keyboard...then no issue with Bluetooth.
Is there a benefit to bluetooth mouse and keyboard? Or do you have plans for both usb ports?
I am going to try an external optical drive to see if it can read disks.
Is there a mouse/keyboard combo that uses one bluetooth connection?
Tnx for your answer. I'm not really an expert in these things so I kinda overlooked the fact that I can connect the mouse wirelessly without Bluetooth. I'm getting this mouse https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Any...g=androidcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUacUdUnU61031
And this keyboard
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5P8BJO/?tag=androidcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUacUdUnU61031
Seems the keyboard has to use Bluetooth though. Have you checked if Bluetooth 5.0 really works with 2 devices at the same time on the s8/+?
I have been reading something that it doesn't because android itself doesn't support It?
Also do you know if its possible to connect an external hard disc to dex? Tnx
First of all, DeX is a brilliant device and does exactly what is supposed to do!
Second, in order to get Note8 connected to DeX you NEED to power the station ONLY with the original power unit which came with Note8! No other charger will work with DeX!
Third: in order to use an external USB stick/ HDD / SSD, you NEED to install inside the Note8 an application. This app is Total Commander (the legendary one done for Win 95 and used further even as FTP standalone on each and every Windows version). However, to get the above external device to use it, you will NEED a plugin for Total Commander - the so-called Microsoft exFAT/NTFS for USB mounter! This comes with a price and has several options, see below:
• Microsoft NTFS: $4.99
• Microsoft exFAT: $5.99 (*for non-TV devices only)
• HFS+: $4.99 (OSX format)
• FAT32: $4.99
• All file system support pack: $9.99
Gplay LINK
The above is the ONLY method to get an external device working with DeX.
Fourth: I would suggest to use a wired mouse, not a BT one! And a keyboard can also be used with Android interface (same as a windows 7 for example - is a screen keyboard).

I use a Bluetooth keyboard(logitech), Bluetooth mouse (Microsoft) and Bluetooth headphones (Marshall) with DeX and they work well, no connection issues whatsoever, so you should be able to connect more than 2 Bluetooth devices without any issues (SM-N950F)
