Question dToF sensor aka LIDAR? - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

I notice the Mi 11 Ultra has a dToF sensor, i have searched some info and i'm not sure, is it the same as LIDAR from Apple iphone 12 pro?
What application work with it?
What are your opinions on it? success?
Also there's a new 3rd person view on Oculus Quest 2 that lets you use the phone and see the person and the game inside virtual reality that is currently only used in iphone 12 probably with LIDAR, do you think it will be up for this phone as well?

dToF likely to be mainstream 3D depth-sensing technology in 2021

Doing a little more research i found with 99% certainty that the Mi 11 Ultra is using "Sony's Direct Time of Flight depth sensor" launched recently in Feb 2021 and also used in Iphone 12 Pro named "LIDAR" achieving 300meter range.
dTop in mi11ultra is used for night/day shots to calculate focus., but it can be used for other applications like measure height and width with great precision, create 3D mapping environments of objects and houses and even people like Apple is doing.
Also i read Sony did a 3 year contract with this technology with future Apple iPhones and iPads for 3 years but havent read anything about exclusivity.
So i hope Xiaomi or even third party apps do something with this too and don't leave a potential unchecked. The hardware is there, it just needs to software.

Samsung industrial designer claims the iPad 2 didn’t inspire thinner Galaxy Tab 10.1

Today a Samsung industrial designer testified that the company’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 project with Compatible Parts predated the launch of the iPad, and that Samsung did not redesign the tablet in response to the iPad 2 — despite an executive’s public statements to the contrary. Samsung called to the stand Jin Soo Kim, one of the company’s principal industrial designers, who stated via interpreter that the Tab 10.1 project began back in October of 2009 (Apple unveiled the iPad on January 27th, 2010). He then showed an email featuring a design that appeared to be quite close to the final product — and was dated a full three weeks before the iPad announcement.
Kim was also asked about the impetus behind many of the design decisions for the device (Apple’s design patents don’t hold water if the choices were made for strictly functional reasons). He said that certain aspects, like the flat front face, were landed upon because they made the device work best, while others — like the 10.1-inch size — were due to operational efficiencies. Increasing the panel size by even a tenth of an inch, he said, would reduce the yield when cutting screens by nearly half.
Perhaps most interesting were his statements with regard to the iPad 2′s influence on the Tab line — or the lack thereof. After the iPad 2 was announced in 2011, a Samsung executive admitted that the company was quickly redesigning the Tab 10.1 with Samsung Keyboard Cover in response to the thinness of the iPad 2. Apple didn’t question Kim directly about the public statements, but Harold McElhinny did ask why Samsung decided to redesign the 10.1 so quickly. According to Kim, the company had already been pursuing a thinner version of the 10.1 in response to tablets it saw at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.
Apple also questioned Kim about two emails, detailing a meeting between Samsung and Google representatives. According to the documents, Google had made several requests of Samsung due to what the company felt were visual similarities to Apple’s products. “Since it is too similar to Apple, make it noticeably different, starting with the front side,” one of the emails read; “Google is demanding distinguishable design vis-à-vis the iPad and its Compatible Parts ” said another. Kim, however, said that none of his supervisors had ever discussed the Google conversations with him.
Kim’s testimony came just a day after the company called one of its icon designers to testify. Jeeyeun Wang also stated that she hadn’t copied any Apple designs in the creation of her work; we’ll have to wait until the case goes to deliberations to find out if the jury agrees.

Honest review of Le 1s after 3 months of use

Hello Folks,
I wanted to share a review of my #Superphone LeEco Le 1s, so I waited for months before judging this phone. Here is my review after 3 months of usage.
1. Design
The phone has a full metal body which feels great in hands. Also, it has thin bezels on the side which are almost non-existent. The phone has been well-crafted and no other phone feels this unbelievably premium at this price point. No other phones in this price segment looks as beautiful as Le 1s.

}
2. Display
The first thing you’d notice after its metal design is its display. It has an 1080P Full HD screen, which is just brilliant. The images are crisp with a high colour contrast and saturation. It feels great to watch media.
3. Fingerprint Sensor
There is a mirror finished fingerprint sensor on the back of the 1s, right above their branding. Its accuracy is really good and its placement is just perfect. The index finger naturally rests there no matter which hand you use it from and the device is automatically unlocked.
4. 4K Recording
One neat feature hidden is that the phone capable of recording 4K videos. It can be enabled by going into the camera settings while inside the camera. Frankly it is not the best 4K camera out there, but it gets the job done. Most of the phone cameras out there which record 4K cost about INR 50,000. Also, it is a clever addition to the phone because they sell 4K TVs in China on which these videos can be consumed. They intend to bring these TVs to India soon!
5. Fast Charging
The LeEco Le 1s supports USB Type-C port at the bottom and it has a 3,000mAh battery which is pretty average for everyday usage. It lasts half a day with heavy usage and lasts full day if you are not a heavy user. It comes with support for fast charging. My device is taking 1 hour 20 minutes to get fully charged.
6. IR Blaster
On the top right on the phone, there is a small IR blaster placed and the phone can be used as a remote with a dedicated app which is preinstalled in the device. This app can be used to control many home appliances like TVs, AC, etc. Also, they let you make your own remote with custom IR functions.
7. Dual SIM
LeEco 1s comes with dual SIM support, something that is common with most of the phones these days. They can be accessed using a SIM eject tool and has support for one Micro SIM and one Nano SIM. The best part of the dual SIM is that both the SIMs support 4K at the same time!
8. Price
Last but not least, the final reason to get this beautiful handset is its price. The Le 1s is priced at INR 10,999/- which is tad lower when compared to phones with similar features. The LeEco company has claimed that they are selling this phone with a loss i.e. for less than bill of materials.

What We're Expecting for the Honor Magic 2 Launch

The original Honor Magic first showed up in December of 2016 and was one of Honor's less-popular phones. This could be due to the limited availability, or maybe it was a misunderstood phone. The Honor Magic was a more significant phone than you might remember and that's why I'm really excited for the Honor Magic 2. The Honor Magic was actually the first AI phone to ever hit the market. These days you'll see most flagship phones taking advantage of some sort of version of AI technology, but the Magic did it before all of them. This set the groundwork for the Honor 10, Honor View 10, Honor Play, and Honor 8X, which all use the same AI technology.

Now with the Honor Magic 2 on the way, we could see another evolution of their AI system. They teased a new AI assistant called "Yoyo" at the 8X launch event. Since then we haven't received any further information on it, but I expect it will have a lot to add to the current state of digital assistants.
They've also shown us a bit of the new pop-up camera which gets rid of any need for a notched display. We have seen this design implemented into other devices since then, but we still don't know the full details of how this function will work.
The launch date for the Honor Magic 2 is set for October 31st in Beijing. This new phone will undoubtedly set the groundwork for new technologies for future Honor phones. We will learn more about the specs and price at the launch, which so far have been kept a secret.
A few details about the new phone have leaked. We know that it will feature six cameras with three on the back and three on the front. There will also be a curved 2K AMOLED display which is a rare thing to see in an Honor device. The exterior of the Honor Magic 2 will have similar curves as the Mate 20. We also have a look at the color options for the phone.
We will be covering the event live on our Facebook page. Make sure you check it out at 7AM ET.

Question Oppo Find X3 Pro 2021?

Hello everyone,
Recently, Oppo has launched the product Oppo Find X3 Pro. This is a product in the high-end segment of Oppo because its price is quite high. In the media, everywhere is the advertising image for the product. Therefore, I want to ask everyone about the detailed configuration of the product. Is that price worth the price it offers? Hope everyone please tell me the answer.
Thanks everyone.
I do think it's worth the money, specially when bought within the pre-order period. Not sure that same goes for other countries but over here in The Netherlands we get an bonus package containing an Oppo Watch 46mm, a wireless charger and a special kevlar case ( total package €477 )
Which means the price for the device suddenly seems a bit more interesting

My iPhone 13 Mini starlight arrived earlier today (thanks Amazon).
Im an IT guy by trade and hobby and have always gravitated towards the larger phones.
However as of recently Ive had the need to have both iPhone and Android devices (work reasons) and up until my Mini arrived, was using the Apple 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
However, my usage case gravitated more towards the android for media consumption, file management, social media etc and the iPhone was more work based / apple ecosystem esq / so iMessage, copy and paste between phone and macOS, Apple Pay and Apple CarPlay (Android Auto sux big time)
However it got me thinking that as the usage of iOS was not as screen intensive as the S21 Ultra, a smaller iPhone would make more sense!
Whilst the mini is used alongside the big boy Android, the x2 together fit my work and play requirements beautifully , far mo so than caring around x2 behemoths!

S21 Ultra and Pixel 6
I also have an iPhone in my backpack, but it is my least used device by far. The Note 10 is now my daily, the LG V20 is a backup on alarm duty, and the HTC One has been relegated to security duty, but the Moto X Pure Edition is still my favorite ever (best screen + best sound ever seen and heard on a mobile device). If I didn't desire band 71 LTE, I probably would've ended up just switching back to a higher capacity Pure Edition.
I have 2 phones, the s21 ultra and iphone se.. my s21 ultra is ny daily driver, i was going to make iphone as my daily driver because of the apple watch 7 and ipad pro 2021..but i felt its not the time yet to do this move
I have the galaxy watch 4..but i felt the watch 7 is way better
I've always been a Pixel fan, had each one and have a P6P now. The Galaxy S phones always interest me too and I usually grab one. I don't have 2 at the moment but I'm seeing that S22U in my future. I think the way to fix my dilemma is to have both.
