This is a development community. Try not to fly off the rails when someone asks about PSFreedom. In it's base form it's not a piracy application. No more so than rooting an Android device is. Sure it can be used for nefarious purposes, but why assume everyone on a developers forum who's interested in PSFreedom is a pirate?

Language like that is not appreciated, nor is it allowed
2. Member conduct.
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. Please think about who is reading what you write. Keep in mind that what you think of as acceptable use of language may not be acceptable to others. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.
2.2 Nudity: XDA is used by people of all ages, including minors. It's not acceptable to post nude/pornographic imagery, which includes exposure of the male or female genitalia or of female breasts.
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.
2.5 New Members: Treat new members the way you would have liked to have been treated when you were a new member. Provide the new members with guidance, advice and instruction always with respect and courtesy.
2.6 All members are expected to read and adhere to the XDA rules.

It is actually a good question regarding a new PSFreedom, an updated one for the new Kernel?
Maybe even as for the PsfMod, directly from the Recovery?
Read this its how to build psfmod

Thank you for this link !!!
Given a Friday, sounds like the whole weekend will be spent nearby a computer... Thanks a lot!
N.p. make sure you do this to.

Well if i understood your question correct, you need rooted phone.
Easyest way to manage roms and update zips is clockword mod. Search Clockwork rom manger in market and install. Copy your update zip to sdcard, lreboot to recovery via rom manager, make nandroid backup then install zip and test. You can revert all changes.
Is your psfmod for 2.2?
Guys!! Two weeks I've been trying to create my own psfMod for HTC Legend, with the Klutsh's Howto ... And I am still nowhere!! TWO WEEKS!! lol!
Did any of you create a working img file succesfully?
I received some help from Klutsh and some other guys on his blog, unfortunately I am such a noob that I can't manage to do it right yet...
Any chance to get some help from here?
... You all are my last hope... My life depends on it.. (Hmm... Ok, I might be exagerating)

I plan on working on this. I've been holding off for Cyanogen to release stable for the Legend, so I have an easy starting off point for a guide - and I'll be doing less flashing/messing with nightlies.
I've still go an old TouchPro I'm using just for psf at the moment.
So the sooner we see CM6 stable, the sooner I'll get cracking on this.
hope someone will do that .
It saddens me that the world is turning into pikey freetards that think stealing is OK. Things will catch up with them, it always does.

and leave it at that, I suggest you do the same.
What's going on with this? Where's the hold up? What has already been done?
BlaY0, actually, it was done, yes...
However ,there were not updates of it.
No possibility to use last payloads and other possibilities.
As per Klutsh's psfMod, it is possible to get the PSFreedom directly from the recovery, and then you can use the bin you want (put in your SD Card) : you just have to reboot then and can use your phone as usual.
So far, we lost Wifi and SD card access, we had to restore boot etc... Quite "restrictive" (compared to what is developed for Desire, Hero, and many other devices...)
No, I mean what has been done in terms of compiling module for new kernel?
Ho sorry! lol!
Then I am not sure I understand your question: What have I done so far that is not working, or in general? (English not native language, plus noob regarding kernels, compile, linux, development, ... Everything lol! Well you understand, right?)
Actually I'm referring my question to the subject (psfreedom+new kernel). I know that it is working with old kernel so it is working from recovery mode too. But I need to know what has been done concerning new kernel. Where's the problem? I'm asking coz I don't want to reinvent the wheel.
Ok! Then I unfortunately cannot answer you.
What I can do, is quoting Klutsh from his blog (before he put the Howto off his blog)
@bravounet: You may be better waiting for HTC to release the 2.6.32 kernel source, or look for a AOSP kernel (Cyanogen type)
@bravounet: You can use the .32 kernel in recovery, leaving your ROM & kernel alone.
With old kernel (2.6.29) we had to flash a zip from the recovery in order to make it work, there was no menu "PSFreedom" in the recovery itself, contrarily to other devices as I mentioned previously.
So far, I don't think someone has done anything new with the old kernel, neither with the new kernel 2.6.32 for our Legends... I might be wrong, but I haven't found anything on the internet...

[Q] Where do i start?

Hi i've been using the x8 for 2 months now running on GingerDX v009.. I've learned many things from this community.. and i wanna learn more..
For starters.. How do i build a ROM? using ROM kitchen? if yes which one is compatible with our X8? Will i need extensive knowledge in linux or in programming?
With the ROM kitchen you don't actually build a ROM, you just give it some features (I've tried it). If you know anything about coding and stuff like that, I've been told that the android developers site is a good start. I'm a beginner myself. So far I've made only an icon pack apk LOL

I want to start too. Can you or any other give me an "How to start guide for NOOBS" for me? I'm really noob in this xD
Before you start developing, you should know how Android works. As I said before, you will find everything you need in the Android Developers site. And..c'mon! You can't start making ROMs when you haven't even made a simple app yet!
I want to start developing apps, and after that developing some modifications to existing apps and system files. When i know how to do that i can simply make a rom because i know how to compile roms on kitchen

Take a look at this.
I don't know if this is good, because I didn't read it all... but I think it may help you

(this link is in portuguese, so don't bother going there if you don't understand)
Online tutorials might help you... There are a lot of them out there... Choose the one which you feel is better... I'm also on the same boat as you..
I personally prefer "thenewbiston" channel.. There you can find tutorials for android application development as well as java(which is very important for app development)..
Then you can move onto cooking roms...
All the best....

You joined XDA 4 days ago and you have already created three threads to ask very basic questions. XDA is not a helpdesk for noobs - you will get help with genuine problems, but you need to either use the search function on XDA, read and learn or use Google for the basics. Everything you need to know is already out there, please don't expect people to constantly repost the same information over and over just because you are too lazy to put the effort in yourself.

Introduction

Hello everyone, My name is Boris. I've been on the forum from time to time to look up advice with unlocking bootloaders, installing custom recoveries, rooting/unrooting, and installing custom ROM's.
I have a Oneplus 6T that has an unlocked bootloader running Oxygen OS 10.3.12. I figured I join up and see what I can contribute since I've used this forum so much to get great info, advice, and files from other users. I really appreciate what the developers and enthusiasts do here because this resource has helped me many times with not only my current device but previous devices that I've owned in the past.
My main reason for being here recently is because I haven't been able to successfully disable dm-verity/AVB or force encryption for the purpose of installing kali nethunter. Im trying to get that resolved and if and when I do Ill post all the info so that others with the OP6T can do the same.
IT stuff Im familiar with and have amateur experience in is Windows, Kali Linux, Monjaro Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Networking (Including Cisco training on ITPro TV), a bit of Active Directory experience, I'm a python beginner (Took a python scripting class at my college last semester), a bit of bash/zsh scripting, computer hardware, as well as a few other things.

hobbyist

Hi everybody,
I am Jerang, an hobbyist who is playing with rooting phones and installing custom ROM`s on any android phone.
Joining XDA was the best thing to do, the information here is unlimited.
I do not have the knowledge to create custom ROM`s and so on, but just see me as an tester for your builds.
Also at last hope to contribute to this forum and users.
