Question EU ROM update - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

So I'm on Xiaomi.eu v12.5.10 and have downloaded v12.5.11 multiple times, but it never shows up in twrp to install?! Anybody else have this issue?

TWRP won't see it if it doesn't download properly. I would suggest downloading it to your PC and transferring the rom to your device.

Good idea I'll try this

Can you direct me to the TWRP file you are using.
Flashing TWRP unofficial didn't work for me but maybe the file wasn't right.

Yes ok. Thanks
I have the same file.
Boot recovery works.
Ok to flash recovery ?

Have you read the instructions? You do not flash the recovery, you use the ADB command to boot into it and then flash your rom. The rom will permanently install TWRP.

Our devices don't have a recovery partition to flash to.
Read the install instructions correctly:
https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotox4.html
You should use "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-payton.img" instead.
Then, follow along:
This will temporarily boot TWRP on your device. If you are using a lockscreen pin/pattern/password and do not get prompted to enter your password, reboot to the bootloader and try again. Go to install and browse to the zip and install the zip. The zip will install TWRP to both boot slots. Installing TWRP at this time will remove root if you are currently rooted.

I think the right command is this:
fastboot flash boot [file name].img
No,
If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest firmware for your device and reflash the boot image.

I could be wrong but it seems like you are trying to flash TWRP to the recovery partition and there's no such thing on this phone. You have to temporarily boot TWRP and the keep following the instructions.
Is anybody able to backup / restore the phone with android one on encrypted file system??, im using the official twrp, but restoring backups just cause bootloops
is it necessary to unlock the bootloader before?
If you're asking if the bootloader needs to be unlocked to install magisk, absolutely!
Sorry for the dumb question but how do you unlock the bootloader on the Fi Android one Version?
Potential fix

If you are still haven't fixed this yet the issue is you need to fastboot boot the boot twrp image and then flash the flash image inside twrp. The guide on TWRP official will give you a guide on how to do this, the files required are also there.

Well you may not like to risk but i feel that the error is due to TWRP not being able to write on the device.
First things first, try to download again the ROM, and don't flash the zip file, but flash the .img file inside.

If so, i dont know what the issue is... if it wont flash ok, you will need to format your phone data

Either risk format the phone data (but you will lose everything) and try to flash again... or well... wait for the author to reply.

Question Lost root with latest OTA...

Phone updated from 13.0.2.0 to 13.0.4.0 accidentally or by itself, not sure, received the latest OTA and after reboot root is gone...
How can i get root back without loosing data or formatting?
You need to reinstall it using adb method, remember: everytime you update you loose the root

Adb method doesn't need twrp, it is a bit more difficult to inject the root but you don't need to go through twrp. Just search on Google you will find several guides, I can tell you that you need the boot.img of the installed ROM in order to complete the process. You usually find this file into the fastboot ROM zip package

So I'm guessing it's the same process as last time, the required boot.img will need to be from the updated 13.0.4.0 version? I barely remember how i did it initially, if you have any guides that work id really appreciate it

FWIW, I have a utility for expanding sparse files.
Then you can flash them with any utility like a flat file.
Yeah, there are a zillion utilities that do that.
They are mostly named simg2img.

update the TWRP first.

So, i've rooted my xiaomi note 5 with magisk, and i wanted to do the same with my main phone, and now i cant unlock my phone because i dont want my data lost (the apps are the most important and i have all my other data backed up) and i came across mediatekbootloaderunlcok and im just wondering is it patched or does it still work? because if it works then im definitely rooting my phone. id appreciate it if any of you guys answered my question

yup. it doesnt, tried it
The only TWRP version that works for me is the Dimenzino forks, but those only boot. ADB sideload crashes the recovery, decryption doesnt work thus MTP also doesnt work.
Any other recovery i try also locks me from booting before i reinstall spark.
I've been hating every second with this phone.
When i compare the experience of modding it to my old Redmi 8, this phone is such a pain.
IMEI backups
No ROM's work
No recovery's work.
Now that I have only 1 IMEI i can no longer even go back to MIUI.

This is the only recovery that has so far worked for me to install a ROM through sideload. Otherwise its pretty useless.
Looking at the rom-lord files, theres quite a few roms/recoveries in there, ill try to test the recoveries and let you know.

you can just go port TWRP to your device by yourself, OR use GSI ROMs! (though, GSIs are very.... general, and so, they might not work with certain hardware inside your phone, because they're designed to be a one-size-fits-all solution.) even better, go make a custom ROM for your device by yourself!
