Question Sending videos over Whatsapp looks choppy - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hi,
Did anyone noticed that when you send videos over Whatsapp , the quality is really bad? It looks like the video varies between 15 and 30 fps. Looks kinda choppy. I use normal Whatsapp (not business). My Whatsapp is up to date. I'm currently on 12.5.11 EU. It is reproduced in both CN and EU ROM.

I noticed this but I thought it was WhatsApp aggressive compression ratio , reduce quality by 90% isn't going to be a good experience
Try telegram

Or send it as a document over WhatsApp and the original quality and file size will be maintained....

Nah, it makes no sense.
Why would the compression cause it to look choppy just on the Mi 11 Ultra?
That's some MIUI/Whatsapp integration bug.
I heard some people have setting in whatsapp for video quality, sadly I don't have it.

Have you compared it with another phone side by side ?

I have many phones, never had this issue (with 4k videos as well).

Interesting.
Maybe it will help the M11U.

That's bull****.... I have had a lot of phones and it doesn't matter Xiaomi, OnePlus or Pixel... That's a WhatsApp compression problem. If the file is bigger, quality will be worse. There is nothing to wonder about.

WhatsApp is a problem in of itself.
If it only happens there... all the more reasons to take out the trashapp.

Agree on that. The problem is that friends, family and work all use WhatsApp.
Tomorrow I'll record 4k video on the LG Velvet, send in Whatsapp and update this thread.

Freedom isn't easy. No social trash apps on my phone including FB, Twitter and LinkedIn.
How can they keep you connected if they destroy your world?

Confirmed the issue does NOT reproduce on LG phones when sending 4K videos over Whatsapp. It is Xiaomi / MIUI issue. Annoying.

No solution anyone? How are you sending videos using WhatsApp with this phone ?
On my vacation I had to transfer the video files to my wife's LG Velvet and send the videos from her phone . This is ridiculous.
For the people that keep telling me it's Whatsapp, how do you explain that you can send the same exact files in WhatsApp from other phones ?
This is the biggest problem I have with this phone because I can't share videos in the family's WhatsApp group. Very frustrating.

I actually realized that when I try to send a video it will be 1 second long, I don't know why

Instagram Story Camera Quality on Turbo

Hello good afternoon
I bought the maxx bike about 3 days ago, and it's an excellent cell phone, except for some things that are not optimized like the performance of the battery, which is solved with greenify.
I come from a motorola G1 and Alcatel idol 3, and I am astonished that the video recording on the moto maxx is inferior or similar to the one of these cell phones, I still can not find any app that will benefit you :/
Find an app that really took advantage of the photos, like the bacon camera or the HDR snap camera, but I still can not find an app that makes me satisfied with the video recording :/
Do you recommend any app for video recording?
A query, I occupy many social networks, and I just realized that when I try to record a video in stories is really horrible, it seems recorded in 240p, you know why that happens?
Edit: Here I found people with the same problem https://www.reddit.com/r/droidturbo/comments/57yy4p/instagram_story_camera_quality_on_turbo_1/
Greetings and thanks.
Your answer is in that thread:
I had the same experience with the photos as you described. Videos just look like garbage. FYI I just found out you can upload from your camera roll if you swipe down while in the story camera. I’ll test the quality and see if it is better when taken with the normal camera first.

I have been uploading from the camera roll and have been getting much clearer uploads compared to shooting in the app. I only use the main camera so I can't comment on the selfie camera. I imagine the app just is not optimized for the og turbo's camera. Maybe it will get better but I might have a new phone by then.

But currently the application has the option for live videos and just the rear camera looks horrible in this, while the front looks like you should see.
He sent several messages to instagram but received no response on the problem; This is precisely why I do this query here.

Are you running a custom ROM -- if so have you tried OTHER camera apps which are available? For instance, I have one of the Moto G cameras running on my Moto Maxx. There are others. Do they all have the same issue?

Why my device always get restart automatically when i played vainglory or some games?

Got my X5 Pro Yesterday impressed with 1 annoying bug refresh rate in Google apps...Some of.

Hi,
Loving the device so far, Very slick and the build quality is awesome, Camera is excellent! Better than I imagined for a Chinese phone, It feels almost like the perfect smartphone, I'm glad I chose this now and not the OP 10 Pro.
1 annoying issue I have though is scrolling refresh rate in Google photos and the menu scrolling in Google maps is jittery.
This is not present on my 8 Pro and I have no idea why, It makes using Google photos quite a horrible experience to be honest, I can't find a way to force higher refresh rate for specific apps alao, Doesn't look like it's possible.
Does anyone know how to report bugs to Oppo?
Update...
Weird lol just gone back into photos and now it's smooth I have no idea why, What it is still doing though is mis touches with the screen and scrolling, It's nowhere near as fast as my OP 8 Pro and does not seem to be as responsive either in the sense that trying to scroll fast with your finger results in mis touches of the screen not picking your finger up, I hope they are aware of this and it gets fixed soon.
Update again lol, Scrub that it's not smooth in Google photos at all I posted this from my 8 Pro not even realising lol.
I have none of those issues on mine, have refresh on auto.

Sorry I meant high, no I'd say it was definitely 60 when you scroll, but as YouTube has no 120hz content it's understandable.

Thanks mate I'll give that a go sounds promising for now, I can't understand what is so difficult for the the software devs of these modern flagships to have YouTube and Google apps running at 120hz, After all it's what we paid for with these high end displays, Thanks again.
I know. It's a pain. My previous device was an s21 ultra and had no issues with 120hz. I guess oppo do it for power saving maybe. I'm pretty sure one plus do something similar. Try the app worked for me. You'll have to go in to the app every time you restart the device. So it's not a permanent fix but gets the job done.

Question Stuttering and frame drops while video recording

Anyone else having frame drops and stuttering issues while video recording in Xiaomi 12 Pro ? I've already got the motherboard replaced from service centre still having same issue.
It mainly occurs if my device is overheating or close to it. Also when I zoom too fast while recording. Though it's not so much of an issue that I'm upset with it or anything. Machines have their limits.
Each and every video I came is full of stutter. No clean videos are coming out. Even it's not hot not do I zoom. I'm totally upset with it
You are not alone. Me and my significant other have both 12 regulars. Video recording is set on 4K30 nothing fancy. Each and every video has some dropped frames or some sort of stuttering. Really annoying.
Thinking about switching but there is nothing with same or comparable specs in this form factor. Really like Xiaomi though, would like to get this fixed
Had this issue too on my xm12pro (china). I figured out that it was WAY better when I switched from Xiaomi.eu rom to the official Xiaomi global Rom.
Anyways, it reads like you are on the official ROM, as your Mainboard got replaced, so I don't know if this is helpful for you - but maybe for others
We're on EU official ROMs also. I've tried everything. First approximately 5seconds a f video recording is stutter and frame drops. Switched both phones to performance mode bit that didn't help also.
I don't have this problem, what are your settings?
4k30 with phone running on performance profile. MME +3GB enabled as default, tried to disable that once to see if it's a memory issue, but nope.

Whether with a stock rom, Miui 13 A12, Miui 14 A13 or Xiaomi Eu rom never had this problem and the same with 8K.
Could be a faulty series..
What I would try to be sure and certain that it is a Hardware problem, use Miflash and flash a Stable Global rom. (V13.0.9.0.SLBMIXM) be careful if you have a Chinese version.
EDIT:

Something with codecs then perhaps? Also, Gcam might not have full API access but it definitely makes better photos during low light.
But yea, all videos uploaded or send to different devices are totally useless in my device, no matter the ROM. Only videos recorded with Gcam are okay. That is all I know.

Not really, 12 regulars doesn't mean anything, on the other hand Xiaomi 12 CUPID is precise or ZEUS,DAUMIER,DITING,,EARTH,MAYFLY,PLATO,PSYCHE,TAOYAO,UNICORN,THOR,all series 12.
None have the same characteristics.
Some problems may be common, others not and remain version specific.
This is why there are threads for each device.
Contrary to what you say the 12 pro Cn can have this problem.
Answers but no solutions, send it back as warranty.

The service engineer first changed my camera and gave me the phone to test but the results were same as before hence I asked them to change the Mobo. But still no difference. So I guess no hardware issue only software.
