Question Inquiry: How to Force "5g only" to prevent phone from connecting back to LTE etc. - POCO M3 Pro / Redmi Note 10 5G

Hi. I want to use my poco m3 pro 5g as a cheap home 5g wifi router. Is there a way to force this phone to only connect to 5g and not fallback to 4g/LTE etc?
Thank you in advance.

I had the same issue yesterday with the Three Ireland network. Couldn't receive or make calls or texts until I switched to 3G/4G also.

I have the same issue now. The "*#*#4636#*#*" method doesn't work, my Pixel 6 phone defailt back to LTE/LTE+. This is disappointing here because at this remote location there is only the one tower. It supports 5G, and when the phone (randomly but infrequently) connects using 5G, download speed is 10X faster. Ahhh technology, copyright and proprietary OS's...

4G Suddenly became useless

Hello,
I am now having issue with my K20 Pro. I'm using 12.0.5 xiaomi eu
Not certain but possibly started after I upgraded to MIUI 12.
Issue is that the mobile data never works when signal is 4G/LTE.
Internet only works if you find a stable 4G+/LTE+ signal. The system would tend to constantly switch between 4G and 4G+.
Another option is to use 3G/H+ Preferred option. H+ works fine but as we all know this is the older network which means slower but decent data
I have read some solutions to delete and reset your APN. But it never works either. Also compared the network behavior between other phone like Oneplus 5T and it doesn't have the issue even using the same network and same location.
I'm not sure if this has been raised to Xiaomi directly. But I'm hoping there's a fix for this.
Thank you!!

I dont know if its exactly the same issue I had , but I give you my solution , it might solve your problem as well :
1. download Activity Launcher from the playstore.
2. Open it and search "miuiBand"
3. Choose the network LTE band of your Operator(look it up in google) for example LTE B3 (if you use only 4G , look at LTE and not LTE Preffered)
4. Toggle Selection ON (Top).
Hope this solves your issue as it did mine.

I have this. However, I can't understand why it suddenly changes reverts from time to time. Do you always take a look at it whenever connecting to Mobile Data?
As I also check in Network Cell Info Lite, phone still connects to the band causing the problem (Band 21)

When you get low coverage or restart the phone or get out of plane mode , your network settings go back to default (band will be chosen automatically), but forcing the prefered network type ,you will prevent this from happening (you will only have to worry about restarts /phone / modem).
Making the choice permanent IS possible with root (Check this Link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...ific-network-bands-snapdragon-t3744243/amp/).

Btw, I cannot get Network Signal Guru to work with Magisk v21.1 anymore
Mi 9T (not Pro), tried with EEA stock MIUI 12.0.3 and Xiaomi.eu stable 12.0.6.
Last time it worked for me on EEA 12.0.2 with Magisk v21.0
I tried now that Samsung Band Selection app., it complains that hidden activity is not found (on my Xiaomi.eu 12.0.6) and it cannot open band selection options
But I don't have a problem with bands, just curious to tesr the things?
Bought a Xiaomi Redmi note 9s last month for Christmas for myself.
It had MIUI 12.0.2 on it by default.
Played around with it for a whole month and everything was working perfectly...4g LTE included.
I don't have internet at home so I use my phone has a hotspot.
Average download speed was 60 megabits per second.
... Until I upgraded to 12.0.3, I then lost LTE and only connected using H+
So beware before upgrading because I have not found the solution yet other than flash with pixel experience ROM.
Edit :
Changing Network detection from automatic to manual fixed it !
My Redmi notes "global" phones 4 & 5 had to flash new ROM to unlock bands.
Hope this helps
I realised that this issue is most likely due to baseband limitation with our Network provider. Given that I'm using a China Variant, the basebands my phone is lacking needed basebands here in the Philippines. What I'm looking for now is a QPST guide for SD855 to activate at least base band 20. I can't find any that has enabled it thru QPST yet.

Question No 5G

i cannnot get 5G with my X3 pro ,
only 4 G +, i have global Version , i am from Austria (Magenta) ,with my iPhone 12 there ist no Problem with 5G, what can i do, regards Nico
Ask your carrier. Your phone might not be yet supported by the carrier when it comes to 5G. Usually carriers support firstly iphones and samsung phones....then over time the compatibility is extended to other phones.
In addition double check if you have 5G enabled:
Settings -> sim cards & mobile data -> choose SIM -> Preferred network type.
You can also get a SIM replacement (even if 5g was working on iphones it might not on other phones due to some SIM incompatibilities)
thank you for your Information
ich found it on Reddit
i have 5G now , I am very happy now
Thanks very much. This helped me, too!!!
I envy you, I am very often in the countryside, father is a farmer. Therefore, my maximum is 4g.

Does it also enable 5G SA (Standalone)?
@nico1885 what did you do to enable 5G?
I have a similar problem, I have a dual sim UK BT + Vodaphone although my issue is with the BT sim (standalone or in dual sim). I can get 5G on the BT sim when I swap the sim in and install the APN, sometime later 5G goes away and 4G is all I can get. Strangely this happens on my Find X2 too, I have no problem with 5G on the (many) phones I have. Vodafone seems to get 5G all the time. The BT sim is 5G ready.
Not sim settings have the 5G/4G/3G setting......but once 5G goes away it doesn't come back until I provoke it by say swapping sim1 to sim2...but it will go away at some time
Does it enable 5G STDNOL???
STDNOL, do you mean SYMBOL?
Yes it does show the 5G symbol for the time 5G is on, then 4G/4G+
5G network can only be enjoyed if it's available in your region. Kindly contact your Mobile Operator to check if 5G is available.
i am oppo user but my country have no sppoted 5G technology: Minecraft

Question Mi 11 ultra no 5G cellular network [ stock global ]

Hello everyone,
I've just upgrade my plan to have 5G support, but the phone does't pick it up ( the carrier says it's ok )..
I also searched manually for networks and I find every network even from other provider but NOT a single one with 5G.
obviously I am in a 5G area, center of Milan, and sim slot 1 ( but I recall that was dual 5G, no? )
It's a bug, broken or I played with some setting disabling 5G?
thanks
EDIT: SEEMS LIKE THAT switching preferred types, airplane mode, while outdoor made the phone to connect t o a 5G antenna...
funny note, it's slower that 3g: 5.69mps/0.59mbps
Might need to enable it

you mean preferred network type? always been in 5G
Try to reset apn configuration and all kind of connection, then switch off the phone for 1 minute and reswitch it on

If you have the chinese model (not EU or global) you might have some 5G band limitations, and it's also to be taken into consideration which bands your operator is using in your area.

Question 2215 not showing 5G option in Preferred Network Type

Hi, my OnePlus 10 Pro 2215 is not showing me the option to select 5G network. I can only use 5G if I use the code *#*#4636#*#* but when I reboot it no longer connects to 5G.
What do I have to do to make that option appear?. I only can see 4G/3G/2G(auto)
Hey I have the same issue. Ever find a resolution?

I still can't find a solution to this. I think it's my service provider that needs to configure something on their side. If I put a different SIM card it gives me the option of 5G, VoLTE and VoWIFI
Ok that's very helpful. I'll check with the carrier.

Question SA (Jio) 5G Update India for Moto Edge 20 Pro

Hi Guys,
Motorola pushed update with 5G support for Airtel and VI but not fro Jio. Their chatbots (lol) are saying that it's under development and will be provided but no timeline.
1- Are we really getting the update from Motorola?
2- Are there any custom ROMs that support Jio 5G?
Please help with above queries.
Easy enable 5g (g play -> force LTE app -> set NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/gsm/Wcdma -wow omg - a 5g icon appeared on top, omygod wow, how is this possible (to be honest, your operator has access to the phone and for your phone it has its own Operator user profile (motoedge20pro) and until the operator himself decides to turn on 5g for you, no updates will give you 5g, except for this crutch that I showed
Omg omg woow it's not Working lol.
It still shows 4g in the settings, the non 5g sim is actually SA network but in India we got only update for NSA so it's not working.
Noob tricks already tried no use

Brother, it's not that easy.
Every hardware has a software to support its operations which are called Drivers. In this case, Moto has released necessary software (drivers) for Airtel and Vi but not for Jio. Jio uses different technology and bands while Airtel and Vi use same technology.
The update is out Finally !!!!
Moto pushed the Android 13 update today on 25 th April 2023 ..
Along with it the jio SA 5G update also came . Now there is an option to switch to 5G in settings .
Enjoy
