Issue trying to upgrade Magisk to latest version. Help! - Magisk

Hi all,
I was trying to update my Magisk and appear to have got stuck.
"App" shows Installed v23 but still has the Install button
"Magisk" shows Installed N/A (see screens below)
All has been working fine till I decided to update.
Its a Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Magisk version was probably 2 years behind the latest version
When I select to Install the Magisk version, it goes to "Select and Patch a file". Was it supposed to automatically download a file as the only file I see in my 'Downloads' folder is 'Magisk -23.0 (23000).apk'??
Not sure what to do next as it was working fine prior to trying to upgrade and I don't want to brick my phone.
Any assistance would be appreciated

Anyone able to assist ?
Feel annoyed at what I thought was a straight forward update like every other app on Android

That's just a change in the UI; even when the latest version is installed, it still has the 'install' button. My screen looks the same and I'm up to date.

@david336 I would start by checking that you don't have two Magisk apps installed, one hidden and one not. If you do, uninstall the hidden one and try again. If it still doesn't work, uninstall the regular app as well and then reinstall.

I checked both the Home link on the top left and Settings icon on the top right and there is no 'Hide' option present anymore.
What do you suggest I should do as the next step ?
Should I try to update Magisk as below ?
- If so, what is the file I should use as selecting "Select and Patch a File" takes me to my phones internal storage but I am unsure of what file it needs ?

No, it's quite natural that the app you've provided a screenshot for doesn't have the Hide option, since it reports that you're not rooted.
What I meant was that you should check your app drawer if you have a hidden Magisk app (could be named "Manager", "Settings" or if you gave it a custom name it would have that) installed as well as the regular app you've screenshoted. If you do, follow my advice on my previous post.

Hi Didgeridoohan,
I checked and there are no hidden Magisk version (or other named version)
What do you suggest I should do as the next step ?
Cheers

I have checked my root and the root checker says its rooted
Is anyone able to help with a failed Magisk Update ?

ARCore??

Was anyone able to get ARCore working on OnePlus 3T??
I have tried both the original and the modified APKs of Tango Core but whenever I try to open the HelloAR app it keeps crashing after the Made with Unity screen. I made Tango Core a system app and then a new option in settings menu appered as shown in the screen shot attached and when I tap on it I get a menu saying Chose Profile but regardless of which option out of the 2 (Personal and Work) I choose it crashes. You can get the APKs from here

Update 1:
After installing this magisk module thanks to @4RK4N and uninstalling and reinstalling the modified Tango Core and HelloAR apps (though I'm not sure if it is required to uninstall and reinstall) I got Hello AR running on my OnePlus 3T with Open Beta 13 and Magisk 13.3 thanks to topjohnwu
Update 2:
After installing the module mentioned up and getting Hello AR working I made Tango Core a system app and now I can select the Personal option in Tango in Settings but the Work option still causes crash. It shows Clear area descriptions, Permissions and View open-source license options. There are currently no apps with Permissions even though Hello AR is installed and working and the Clear area descriptions option is currently disabled.

I am also interested in using arcore on a op3.
Someone on the oneplus forum claims it is working with magisk root and pixelify module.
Didn't tried it yet, as I don't have the time to install magisk right now..

Question How do I allow installing apps from unknown sources?

Before it was so simple, just go to unknown sources and select allow. Now I do not understand how to do it. I have seen a bunch of posts and videos, it's easy. They say go to Biometrics, select install unknown apps, and they say just allow the app. However, when you do this it only shows apps that are already installed. My app is an apk on the device and CAN NOT BE INSTALLED because it's an unknown app. So how in the world can I allow it if it's not installed? Sorry, this has been very aggravating, but thanks for the help!
Spoiler: Lots of screenshots and instructions:
1. In your File Manager of choice (I'm just using the Magisk app for example):

(I'm aware the last several screenshots aren't displaying - at least for me, in the submitted post. They display fine for me when I Edit the post. I originally had these screenshots in the post before this one, and I thought splitting them off might fix the screenshot issue, but it didn't.)
If you want to double-check what apps are or aren't allowed to install other apps:

C. Click the "Install unknown apps" search result, and then click on the flashing "Install unknown apps":

[Question] Where do you get modules?

Hello, guys, since the store in magisk is no longer available, where do you get modules?
I have installed Fox's Mmm, but the magisk modules seems much less than iOS jailbreak tweaks.
I want to know if there's any working modules for android 12 (currently using Xiaomi Redmi K40 on PixelOS):
1. Network speed indicator in the status bar. (downloaded two xposed network speed indicator, not working)
2. T9 (pinyin for Chinese contacts) dialer.

Well hello there is nothing wrong with the files but they download it directly from github you need to unpack the folder I will recommend using total commander with other explorers it will go wrong then when have unpacked it just select all the files and pack it and just leave the setting how it is with total commander adn then you can flash the zip
See the screen shots how you would select them and repack them

Thanks for reply. Mostly I download the modules from Fox's Mmm or from computer if it's on GitHub, the modules I downloaded are working normally, but I do want to find something like I mentioned inn the post: internet speed indicator, I downloaded a Xposed module but it's not working. And T9 pinyin dialer related modules. Maybe it's just difficult to find them.

Hotel app Marriott detects Magisk and root

Security message when running an app
Hello I installed the Marriott app this morning, and when I go to run it, i get that security message along the bottom third of the screen, and the app shuts down. What is causing that?

Calling on the broader community to look at this, as I only start to have this today. I have also tried HuskyDG's Magisk Delta which is said to have brought back MagiskHide, but I failed. Thanks

Thanks. It does seem to work, except I didn't perform these following steps mentioned. Maybe they are not applicable to the latest 3.1.1 version on GitHub instead of play store? Also don't think I truly understand how to use template. Finally, there is a popup to ask me to uninstall Magisk? Probably not a good idea.
Under the Preference head, tap on Select hide methods -> Check API requests, Intent queries, ID detections -> Tap OK
Under the Template config head, tap on 0 additional apps invisible -> Check Magisk, LSPosed and HMA

It worked several times but has since been busted. Maybe I didn't set it up correctly?
I heard Magisk Delta by HuskyDG could hide it from detection. Has anyone been brave enough to try? Well, I tried and it didn't work. I tried the whitelist mode by leaving Marriott out of the SuList and many other banking apps too. But it still detects root. Marriott app version 10.13.1. Older version say 10.12.0 and below should survive.
marriott’s new version 10.15.0 appears to have fixed the over-detection issue. Shamiko is now 0.7.1. not sure if relevant

Downgrade magisk without app or app first then magisk?

Hello,
I currently have Magisk and the Magisk manager app both at versions 26.1 on a Redmi 9T (lime), I have configured denylist and pass the SafetyNet test so all good so far.
I wish to downgrade magisk to version 25.2. To do so I changed update channel to Custom and input this URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/t...26c0454a947cb4fa0a3bb1bc7d29e7caa/stable.json
Problem: When I go back to homescreen I can only install the 25.2 version of the magisk manager app, not the actual magisk. When I try to downgrade actual magisk by patching the boot.img file, it patches it with version 26.1.
So, is it safe to downgrade the magisk manager app to 25.2 now? Will it automatically also downgrade magisk? I am afraid of some wonkiness happening if I downgrade the app but magisk itself is still 26.1
Alternatively, would it be better to downgrade magisk but not the app? How would I do that?
I don't think you can downgrade Magisk app. But you can downgrade Magisk boot patch.
To downgrade, Just download the zip file of the version you want (Canary/stable etc..) and install it just like a Magisk module. Then after reboot, goto Magisk app and Install and Direct Install. Then after reboot, your Magisk boot is downgraded.
To be clearer I put pictures. I change update chanel to custom and input the raw json in first post

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then I get in homescreen that the latest version is 25.2, with option to install. perfect!
when I click on app install, it even shows me the changelog of version 25.2.
the big problem is, when I click on Magisk install, I get changelog of most recent version 26.1, and when I go through and patch boot.img, it gives me as output the name of a file magisk_patched_26100_[x].img, further implying im getting the patched boot image of version 26.1.
What do I do? do I click on install app version 25.2? will it automatically downgrade magisk as well? I really dont wanna wipe data lol this is why im asking so many questions before clicking anywhere now
Just manually download zip file from GitHub and install as a Magisk module. That's the way I always do without any issues!
I did the installation of the version I want as a module and it worked fine, thanks for your advice.
it didnt downgrade magisk app tho. I used custom update channel as above to downgrade magisk app and now I have both the app manager and the actual magisk at the version I want, no data loss or anything. So the answer to the thread question is: downgrade magisk first then the app.
now I'm curious about figuring out how to encrypt my phone data and still be able to use twrp, because i had to wipe data and make twrp force phone not to encrypt in order to see my files in twrp. but thats a topic for another day
