You don't need to open the bootloader to get rid of the Vodafone ROM.
Just use the XiaoMiTool, follow the instructions and flash the Global or EEA ROM.

Yes

I have debranded my Mi11 from SFR (french operator) to Global EEA: you MUST unlock bootloader. Then, flash ROM with MiFlash and, if you want, relock the bootloader. Unlocking bootloader wipe internal storage.

False, flash EEA Branded ROM EU?? to EUXM (Global EEA) is like flash a ROM to an another Canal (EEA / CH / GLOBAL / TW etc...), ROM don't have the same signature so it's a mandatory to unlock bootloader for flash / erase ROM to EEA Global.
After that, yes you can flash full EEA rom/update directly from the system.

Can only confirm that.... As mentioned

How can you even think to flash your phone without unlocking your bootloader? Obviously you MUST unlock it. Then you can flash what you want.

I though if i flash official rom without changing region...aka eu to global i could....and even senior user mentioned its possible i tried....

Probably you missed the fact that the EU rom is a custom ROM and so not official. The only official ROM you can install is the one your phone come preinstalled with. All the others official or not, are not flashable without unlocking your bootloader

No... EU ROM is the Global EEA MIUI Genuine, you talked about Xiaomi.eu rom (Custom MIUI).
You know here a lot of people have some good knowledge.
And you can upgrade without unlock bootloader when it's the same ROM/Country (EEA/TW/MIX,CH etc).
In this exemple @Hunteres can't flash the lastest EEA ROM 12.5.4.0.RKBEUXM under system (on the fly) because he have a vodafone EEA ROM 12.X.X.X.RKBEUVD (phone with custom vendor partition, custom settings and pre-installed apps from carrier)

Hi.
Yeah that absolutely fine with stock EU with mi flash. The bootloader can be locked also on the new stock ROM. I think the only way you will brick is if you accidentally enable anti-rollback and relock. But yeah I done the same thing reflashing over VF ****ty rom and relocking.

Flashing Global Rom from Russian Global Rom

I just received my phone today and it came with unlocked bootloader and Russian global rom V9.5.14.0.OEARUFA.
Question is, can I download the updater ZIP file of Global Rom V9.5.13.0.OEAMIFA and use the updater app to flash instead of using Fastbook/Miflash Tools. Is this a safe way? Will it work? Thanks in advance!
Note : It is China Mi8 device.
I also wait for solution... Buy online and got russian rom and unlocked bootloader... What suitable twrp version for this rom because i scare bootloop will happen when install the unsuitable version... And does anyone here already try the miui pro rom from miuipro website.. does it good? Any feedback is appreciated..
The latest recovery-TWRP-3.2.3-0806 will do the trick.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528068853
Flashing with twrp is probably the safest way as mi flash you can accidentally re-lock your bootloader.
Since the OP phone is china mi8. It's compatible with all the rom in this forum (EU, global, etc) with unlock bootloader of course.
I do not wish to change my recovery to twrp. So it's the only way is to use miflash tools? No direct zip flash global from from updater app from phone ?

To my knowledge you can't change channel with updater app. With channel I mean Global stable, Global developer, Chinese stable, Chinese developer etc etc.
So global and global Russia can be used with updater app ? Is that correct?
But if can't, it will only show error and nothing will happen to y device right?

Magisk is probably tricking the firmware to see the bootloader is locked. For purposes of online banking and stuff? I believe bootloader is still actually unlocked.

Flash Global Developer via Recovery locked Bootloader

Hi everyone
First, I didn't find an answer form my question via search. Sorry if there is already one.
I'm now with an Global Mi 8 with Global ROM MIUI 9 9.6 (9.6.4.0 (OEAMIFD) and locked Bootloader. That's how my MI 8 got out of the box (so, the official Global version).
I want to flash the Gloabl Developer ROM 8.8.30 from the official MIUI Homepage (http://en.miui.com/download-346.html). As there is also a ZIP ROM Version for flashing via Recovery I want to ask wether it's safe to flash this. The verification process said no problems, just that all Data is erased. This is ok.
Is it safe to flash this way or is there a danger for a brick if the Bootloader is not unlocked?

It's safe to switch from global stable to global beta rom thru the updater, it won't brick your device.
Sent from my MI 8 using Tapatalk
Hello,
I was in your case with the same version.
No problem for me, I downloaded the version like you via the link then going through system update of the phone.
My bootloader is not unlocked
I'm currently on China Stable (miui9), bootloader isn't unlocked yet, what would happen if I flash globlal beta rom (miui10) (zip) via updater recovery?
It worked. Thanks

If your device is Chinese, you gonna brick it without unlocked bootloader.
So unlock it, flash then stay unlocked.
Is it possible to downgrade from 10 beta to stable 9 with recovery rom?
For the people who did. Did it erase everything on the phone? I am thinking of trying miui 10 but am too lazy to re-setup everything

Hello,
I would like to flash Global Beta Rom on Global Stable rom thru adapter, but after touch 3 dots I do not have opportunity to choose the zip.
Do you have any suggestions how to do it?
Hello.
Click 10 times on the miui10 logo and submenu will appear.
Have fun
Thanks, it works :good:

Question Can stock zips be flashed with mi 11 twrp?

Just wondering if the stock zips can be flashed with twrp?
I tried numerous stock zips and the ROM flashes successfully with no errors, xiaomiflashtool V2 is also successful, however when the phone boots no matter which stock ROM succeeds, Xiaomi.eu is the ROM that boots.
I don't want to use mi-flash, my phone is eea(Vodafone) and I'm trying to flash eea global, when switching with mi flash it activates ARB and bricks the phone. I know it does because I have already done so and got a replacement from Vodafone.
Any help to flash a stock ROM would be appreciated, I'm stuck with xiaomi.eu as it stands.
Cheers.
at moment . there still no recovery rom for Xiaomi Mi 11 . there's people trying to flash stock rom in TWRP but keep failed .

Mine doesn't fail though, it succeeds. Well shows it succeeds but boots to xiaomi.eu each time.
Xiaomiflashtool V2 also succeeds with the stock ROM , but same outcome is present, xiaomi.eu boots each time.

hello me i think wait for a stable recovery.
At the moment the "TWRP" that is out is A10 based therefore you can only do normal stuff like wipe, flash magisk etc. It does not support flashing A11 roms yet

Hi you can, but you need the bl unlocked, also with china phones you might need root for gpay, banking fp etc.... with the bootloader unlocked these things may or not work, however on Chinese phones the bl must remain always open on a custom rom, otherwise the phone will brick.

Question Rom 12.5.5.0 RKDEUVF

I have the Rom from Vodafone which however does not receive updates. Would it be possible to install the standard European ROM RKDEUXM without unlocking the bootloader and without losing the phone configuration?
I have the full rom file for fastboot installation 12.5.19.0.
Really thanks
Unfortunately, no, without losing configuration and data, you wont be able to flash any other version roms.

1. It's impossible to flash different rom without unlocking bootloader.
2. It's impossible to unlock bootloader without wiping the phone.
I see that is possible for Xiaomi phone using XiaomiTool V2 via ADB (debug usb enable).
You loose data but you don't have to unlock bootloader.
I don't know if it works with 11t pro...
I'd say DON'T DO IT. Switching ROM like that without unlocking the bootloader is a very bad idea. If something goes wrong your recovery options will be very limited. For sure though if you don't format data after flashing a different region ROM the device will end up soft bricked. Either a bootloop or perma fastboot mode. Adb doesn't work with stock recovery and stock recovery doesn't offer the "format data" option anymore just "wipe" which is not the same and won't fix anything. So unlock bootloader first.
Thanks!
But is it possible to re-lock after rom installed and is it possible to have ota regular updates?

You can only relock bootloader when the rom installed in your phone is the stock ROM came with your phone or else you'll brick it and have to reflash in EDL mode using test point.
Now I'm with RKDEUXM Rom...no brand Vodafone.
I've closed bootloader After flash and small test.
All work fine, no brick and Ota updates downloaded and installed.

Should i flash official miui to completly reset my phone ?

Hi guys,
i flashed tons of roms since i got my phone. Now i want to revert back to miui 10 android 9 ~v10.3.17 - xiaomi.eu, as miui 10 always was best with battery life for me.
Should i first flash the official stock rom from c.mi.com with fastboot mi flash tool to get rid of all my mess i have done in those years or can i just flash xiaomi.eu via twrp ?
I have the chinese version redmi k20 pro 8gb 128gb raphael.
Thanks.

Flashing Xiaomi.eu will only replace the system. It's probably better that you first re-flash the complete stock, also MIUI 10/A 9, to have the clean situation like in the old days

May you can tell me if i should prepare anything to get the bootloader unlocked again easily or is it the same procedure like requesting the file from mi.com ?
And maybe you can tell me if i can flash eea or global rom aswell as i live in Italy/europe or china is required ?

Take a look to the screenshot from Mi Flash in the guide, there is the option Clean all vs Clean all and lock
That is a common issue, people leave on default: Clean all and lock and if anything goes wrong while flashing (wrong firmware or something) they hard brick their phones and since they locked them, they cannot flash again (and must ask for the paid EDL support)

Thank you so much for pointing that out, i surely have missed that.
If i can keep it unlocked may i stay at stock and will do a lot of debloating and optimization as i wont update it .
