Overheating and poor performance when playing games such as genshin impact - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi , this is my first post on xda forum , is anyone else having a problem with overheating and themal throttling ? Phone reaches around 80c and sometimes even 85c when playing the game , thermal throttles starts to kick in plummeling down performance , i cant even reach a constant 30 fps in medium high without feeling the hotness of my screen near the camera on the phones front and back side , its really ridiculous , feels like I'm boiling water on my phone , is this an issue with software or is something odd with my device ? Putting the settings at lowest / 60fps yields the same results too , overheating and poor performance especially in combat , this device should perform good enough reaching constant 60 fps at the lowest settings . Any thoughts or fixes ?

I compared the performance with someone elses mi9t pro on a youtube video at the same exact location and settings which are max and 60 fps and their device seems to reach somewhere around 50-55 fps on the same exact location throughout the video while mine drop frames and lags , sometimes reaching around 19 fps
(See the fps , temps and cpu core speeds for further detail)
(This is on highest settings at 60 fps with motion blur on low)

[Test]The power consumption of the IPS screen in different colour

Recently, some people have discussed about the power consumption of our nova ips screen in different background colour.
Here is a simple test to check out the real situation.
Again, the test is conducted with a power meter. The phone is initially charged to 100%. Hence, the reading is approximately to the power consumption of the phone.
Firstly, the screen was set to 100% brightness. Here is the power consumption of the screen in different display colour.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, the screen was set to 0% brightness.
As you can see, the power consumption are nearly the same with the same brightness level. Even thought the black is consuming little bit less power, the difference is negligible. The major factor affecting the consumption of the screen is the brightness.
Hence, we can use any background we like, no matter what colour it is.
ps. the reading of the meter is not the actual power of the phone. This is due to some power loss during the voltage transformation. However, the value is still comparable and the test is a reliable test.
Just type the thanks button if u think this is helpful.
well, that's some good research.
Thanks for you time, good job. :good:
Indeed, it's very helpful, more for the devs I think...
However, can ask you to make test with different clockspeeds and voltages? like using zeus at 200Mhz with -7v->0v->+7v, then something like 600Mhz with -7v->0v->+7v and then 1200Mhz~1300Mhz with -7v->0v->+7v
Those values can give a more widely view and maybe help to something like SODs maybe? we know if voltage goes too low it wont even awake phone, so that could help to determine a min value for that, and a max value to not burn the core

Timeshift video issue (light) ?

Hello guys!!!
I have a weird issue with my camera app. When I'm in a room with artificial light or low light, I mean not in the dark but not with the perfect light, at the end of the day for example. All the camera modes have awesome results, thanks Sony sensor BUT when I use the Timeshift video mode the result on the screen is very ugly and the light is very low.
Can you tell me if it's normal? When I use the Timeshift burst the result is good like the auto mode, manual mode, etc...
But the Timeshift video is very low light. When I'm in low light conditions, the auto mode and others take good pictures (not perfect but good for the poor light) and the Timeshift video mode is almost dark!
See the difference in same scene, AUTO VS TIMESHIFT VIDEO :

Thanks !
As far as i know, this is done to achieve higher frame rates. Like, go to video mode and try 1080p 60 fps. You'll see it's darker than at 30 fps
Yes you're right! So it's normal? No need to return my Z3C?
not at all. In order to achieve higher framerates the ''shutter'' doesnt stay iopen as long thus not as much light is getting in. Completely normal. dont worry about it.
Thank you guys

Is overheating a problem?

after some days i bought my first zuk somehow it stopped working. Amazon replaced it with no problem.
This second phone, imo, is suffering of over heating. After 2-3 minutes of heavy usage it became really hot, almost not touchable. Does anybody else noticed this heating? On the long term, is this bad for the phone? Should i not use it when it's hot?
Thank you
It's not normal. My zuk gets really hot after 30-50mins of gaming. For the first 20mins its cold.
these are temps after 20 minutes of playing video on cardboard

aren't 60C too high?
My phone is heating up to 75° C
Is it normal or I have to replace it.
The device m using is already a replaced one
Earlier set was also having the same problem.
My battery max. Temp reaches to 45° C
My CPU max. Temp reaches to 75°C
What should I do... :'(
Same here, guess we have a really hot device with high reaches..............
Lenovo phone is hetting also. And hanging problem
Heats up to a noticeable degree in the metal parts while gaming (asphalt, nova and such).. Doesn't heat up at all in normal usage. Has never been 'too' hot such that I feel uncomfortable holding it.. All in all, I'm satisfied with it.
P.S. Not in stock rom, I should add. Using DU with its stock kernel.

I tried to play PUBG for hours using Phone 2 with the settings at max, the phone gets hot but not the same as my HTC U11. Gameplay is smooth as silk btw.

Question Google Pixel 5a camera shutter speed mark and Video recording stop after 1 min in 4k mode

Hello,
I bought a pixel 5a device 1.5 months ago. Frankly I have to say Phone speed , image quality , sound quality , ram management , battery backup, display everything is super fine for me . But unfortunately my pixel 5a's camera have some major issues . I didn't find any solutions for these issues though I mailed google support team several time also report an issue through feedback apps but no luck. My issues are :
1. Whenever I'm going to take a photo in low might mode or room light there's some (maybe 3-4) bars appear in my camera screen which is called as camera shutter speed mark.
2. In 4k mode video recording I'm not able to record a video more than 1.20 -1.30 minutes . After 1.30 minutes it shows that my device is too hot close camera until device is cools off.
so I want to know is there anyone who also facing the same issues like me ? and what is the solutions for these issues?
Thank You .

The overheating in 4k is a common issue from my understanding. My solution unfortunately was to switch video to 1080. It seemed to resolve that issue but needs to be fixed. I'm not a huge fan of 4k video, but know others have it. If a product offers a feature that feature shouldn't be crippled by hardware shortfalls.
