Now phone is at some initializing screen. how to mirror phone at this stage. as i cannot access settings at the moment. neither i can enable 'developer options'. because phone is not ready to use. earlier i was able to connect phone to monitor using USB-C. and used phone's blank screen as touchpad. at this point 'adb devices' is not detecting phone.

[Q] Shattered Screen. Need to recover files.

So I just discovered my good old Galaxy S with a shattered screen (black screen). The touch is only working in the upper left part, cant see anything tho. It has a custom Rom. So the thing is, when I connect the phone to my PC, it makes that "device detected" sound, but I nothing shows up. I have tried everything, but probably USB debugging isnt enabled because it doesnt detect my phone in the ADB. Any solutions?

Broken Screen, Need USB Debug mode on.

So this is for my dad's phone. He dropped it and the screen and the LCD panel part busted so the whole screen is all black. Can't see a single thing on it. He got a new (read:refurbished) one so that's not an issue. I'm trying to use a screen mirroring program to factory reset the phone before he sends it back to Motorola. Issue seems to be those programs require USB debugging mode to be turned on but since the screen is all black, I can't do that. I even tried doing multiple screenshots and guessing where things were but it didn't work (worried the top of the phone's touch digitizer is busted too but i'm hoping for the best lol). So I need a way to turn on USB debug mode, with a totally black screen (touch still works), NOT ROOTED, so I can then mirror it with the MirrorGo or Vysor mirroring software so I can factory reset the device. If you have any thoughts for a simpler fix then I'm open to suggestions. I'm not tech savvy enough to do anything with Rooting and i'm not confident enough to try doing that with a busted phone (if it's even possible), so that's an option that's out too. :/

You can go into recovery mode and do the factory reset there, it's probably the easiest way to do it.

Yea, i tried that with the bootloader/fastboot thing. It didn't seem to work. I can barely tell if the device is even ON, only indication it's on is the volume rocker makes a noise to indicate volume and the bottom buttons light up. So being able to tell if the device is even IN it's bootloader mode thing was a crapshoot. I'm gonna need either a way to screen mirror in real time without debugging mode on, or a way to enable debug mode remotely essentially.

Data Recovery From Locked Device

Phone: LG G2 AT&T version (D800), unrooted, stock (no custom recovery), wifi off (but phone will automatically connect to home network if wifi can be turned on), not sure if usb debugging is on
What exactly I'm trying to do: get files and data from my phone to my PC (e.g. photos, contacts, notes, music) for later transfer to a new phone.
Details of the problem:
- The phone is pattern locked.
- The screen is cracked and totally unresponsive to touch.
- Upon pressing the power button or USB connection, the screen displays the lock screen. However, only about the top third of the lock screen is visible on the lower part of the screen; only the top row of the lock pattern grid is shown.
- Upon USB connection to mouse via USB OTG cable, the screen displays only the first frame. That is, it will display where the cursor was when the display was turned on, but not any subsequent movement of the cursor.
- Upon USB connection to PC, the phone enters MTP mode. However, when attempting to access the phone's files from the
PC, nothing is displayed, because the lock screen has not been bypassed.
I'd very much rather not let go of the data on my phone, so I hope someone can help. Any thoughts?

Get a micro USB to OTG cable and connect a wired mouse. You can then use the mouse to draw your pattern and unlock the device. Then connect to PC and recover your data.

Thank you for your reply, but I've already tried that.

At this point, the only other thing I can think of is those 5-in-1 OTG adapters that allow simultaneous mouse input and HDMI output, so I can see where my cursor is pointing via TV. The thing is they're hard to come by around here. They're not exactly cheap, either.

Depending on the method required for your model number, you can try rooting and/or flashing custom recovery, use the custom recovery to create a nandroid backup and extract the data from the backup(backups made in TWRP recovery are almost impossible to extract valid data from), or while in recovery you can try using adb to pull the data you want or even do an adb backup then extract the data from the adb backup using something that can extract .tar/.rar files. You could even use adb with root to delete/modify the data stored for lockscreen then you can probably connect to PC normally and transfer whatever you're after.

Best way to copy a system app on a locked tablet?

I have a tablet, its not a Tab it is a generic tablet but running a version of AOSP on android 4. It came with a smart home device I use to control it. The problem is the tablet is designed to work exclusively with the home appliance (in this case an air purifier) and nothing else. It sits in a case and has no touch screen buttons when removed from it. I included pics and specs of the tablet. The tablet has been completely unlocked by the manufacturer however the system only boots into the program used for the air purifier. When it starts you can see the Linux symbol in the top left of the black screen until the android logo shows up, then it goes into the full screen program and that's it. You cant get to any options or settings or anything. The best I can do is bring up the keyboard and get into "keyboard settings" and even then I get stuck because I cannot hit any back buttons and there is no on screen controls. So you have to reset the tablet to get out. I am trying to take the application used to control the purifier from the tablet and put it on my PC so I can install it on other tablets and phones. However I cannot do ADB because I cannot access dev options in settings. When I connect to the PC it sees the "flash" drive but it's empty. I was hoping someone may be familiar with a way to connect to the tablet and access the root files when you cant enable USB debugging or how to enable it using older AOSP. Any help or insight is appreciated.

Boot powered off device directly into Fastboot mode

Hello,
I'm attempting to use hardware key combinations in order to boot into Fastboot mode, e.g.. Power + volume up & power + volume down.
The phone is unresponsive. But the phone boots normally when only pressing the power button.
I've read the tutorial about launching Fastboot through a PC connection here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/help/howv-to-phone-fastboot-mode-screenshots-t3966727
But in this case, that wont be an option since my display doesn't work, hence there's no way to accept ABD-permissions when prompted on the phones' screen.
I was initially trying to pull all the data from the phone through ADB. When I realized I hadn't accepted my PC's ADB permissions on my ROG Phone, I had to rethink..
So I thought I could plant my PC's RSA-key (for accepting ADB) in my ROG Phones storage through Fastboot, just pushing the file.
I was dumbfounded when I discovered my ROG Phone 2 to be the only android device I've owned, which seemingly doesn't allow for a raw manual boot into Fastboot? CAN THIS REALLY BE THE CASE?
Any input would be highly appreciated
EDIT: I've ordered an USB-c hub for inputting kb+m & HDMI, which should allow me to accept the permissions. Although some of the data I'm trying to reach are time sensitive, any second rescued would be of value!
Similar problem
Hello,
I have a similar problem. My display is broken but the phone seems to still work. I bought an USB-C hub, but when I connect the phone to the TV (via the side USB port) it only shows a white "Asus rog" logo for a few seconds and then vanishes. When I click the mouse the logo reappears again for a few seconds.
Did it work with the hub you got? Do you have an other idea? I need the data that ist sadly still on the phone.
Thank you for your help.

I did work with the usb-c hub. Never saw any white ASUS ROG logo, I'm not sure what's going on with your phone. Also I later replaced the screen third-party, since ASUS charges a lot of money and insists on factory reseting the phone. So you could always do the latter if nothing else works. Send me a PM if you want the display I got.
