Question Can the SmartKey be set to Sensors Off function? - ASUS ZenFone 8

ZenFone 8 allows you to add additional functions to the SmartKey in addition to default Google Assistant. One function I would really like to add is Sensors Off (which can be enabled by going to Developer Options/Quick Settings Developer Tiles). Since enabling it Sensors Off is available in my quick menu but I can not figure out a way to assign it as a function of a SmartKey. Does anyone know a workaround to make this happen? Thanks!

I think the only way would be with xposed and the GravityBox.
https://github.com/GravityBox
You maybe need an additional tool which makes the change then.

Thank you! I will check it out.

I just found an alternative:
Button Mapper: Remap your keyshttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en&gl=US

Ha!. I guess always start by checking if there is an app for that. Thank you.

For me this app doesn't support the smartkey (power button)

[Q] Ability to disable turning camera on sleep mode by holding volume keys

Welcome. I'd like to know if there's possibility to disable turning on camera in sleep mode by holding any volume key. It's almost the same option like in G2 (expect that vol+ activates Quick Memo). I found an information that G2 TweaksBox lets user to disable that shortcut. It appeared that this function needs to be paid. I don't want to pay for something that I'm not sure is going to work. Anybody knows working (the best would be free) method to disable this thing? It's annoying that I take phone out of my pocket or put it back and accidentally camera turns on. Please help.
Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wordpress.chislonchow.deviceadminkeyguard
Sorry the app I posted was for the lockscreen, doesn't seem to work with the hardware button shortcut.
The only way I've found to do it is through Xposed..
So the only option is to pay?

This is also paid mod and there's no sure if this is goning to work on L90 (it showed notification that non-G2 hardware is found and will not be supported).

I found a way - G3 TweaksBox is free and does the job perfectly. This thread can be marked as SOLVED and closed.

I actually just wrote up an article about how to disable the capacitive buttons

and I'm working on one for the software navigation too. I'll edit here with a link when it's published

Wow, thanks you're too kind. Hopefully the write-ups will help get you in the direction you were going for.
I'm always looking for feedback and tips/suggestions for new articles so feel free to comment or use the contact form to send an email at any time you think of something
I have done this to all my Samsung phones,,,is there a way to enable the menu softkey as well?

In the Pie Control application, there is a option to set a button as the menu key(it requires root access). So you could create a fourth button in the pie controls app or you could even set one of your pre-set buttons to execute the menu key when a long-press is detected on it
Cool is there a way to show the stock menu softkey without using pie?

So far I have only been able to find a solution for this that involves Xposed. Sadly, I don't think it's working on TouchWiz, right?

Very nice but.......it makes double tab home button camera to stop working and night clock also gets messed up. Also it makes the phone detect like if there were a magnetic cover on it.

Can't disable Bexby button, or am i missing something?

As the title says, with Note9 new Bexby 2, there is no option to disable the button as in the s9 or before.
Am i missing something here, or did samsung remove this option to force us to use Bexby again?
I couldn't find the disable option as well..
Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
you can completely remove Bixby or remap with other app (using 3rd party)
No root is required to remove Bixby (using package disabler pro will solve your problem)

Can you confirm an app working with the new Bexby on note9. Not sure about it, as i remember reading that its different with note9 and 3rd party apps are not working
you can still disable it if 3rd party if not working
but it will work if you do it from ADB terminal by giving app special permission to gain access to remap the button

You guys r using a retail unit... ARE YOU? I've been using a review unit and there's no way to turn the Bixby Button into a totally redundant button. If you are using a retail one and there's no option to kill it, then that's a pain right ? there.... ##@@

If so, then I hate to see that. I wish when I get a retail unit, I can disable it. If Not, that'll be an example of another "Forced adoption" by Samsung.

Ofcourse, with adb commands its executions can be removed, so that they cannot run , or using a package disabler it would be squeezed at it's neck.
Here we are talking about default settings/options that apparently do not exist and are present in S9/S9+ and that's a fact... For now.

In S9/S9+, you can toggle Bixby voice Off, set Bixby Key to "don't open anything", toggle the Bixby key
in the Bixby homescreen itself to not open the Bixby home screen, remove(toggle) the Bixby homescreen itself and you will be left with the Bixby hardware button that does nothing at all.
That's not the same case with the Note 9. Not only the layout is different, but also there's no option to prevent the Bixby button from launching. Here I'm talking about the Note 9 with August OTA update that I've been using. Retail units may have options to disable it completely but I'll not be surprised if Samsung don't include that.

Bixby Quick Commands short cut drag down the notification bar

With the new update for S10 you can customize the Bixby butto to open other stuff.
I want to program the button to automatically drag down the notification bar.
Does anyone has an idea how to do that?

I don't have mine in hand just yet but from what I've seen, the app referred above is significantly more superior than the options Samsung gives for the Bixby button.

I think you need to check out this thread here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/themes/app-bxactions-remap-bixby-button-single-t3903172
From there, the developer would probably be able to assist you much faster.

Reprogramming the Left, AI button for custom actions

I'm not 100% sure this is the right forum, if it's not, some mod feel free to re-categorise it.
For a while I've wanted to assign custom actions to the single button on the left of the device, but the most I was able to find is an Xposed script that runs, and then you use the volume keys to pick a few baked in actions (These didn't work for me in the end anyway).
So I thought I'd post my working solution, note that it uses a paid app, I don't get any kickbacks or anything.
I'm using "Xposed Edge Pro". It has a "Keys" option, which you can add new keys too.
You just click the "add key" button, press the AI button on the left and it recognises it!
From there you can assign things for the button (and any other of the buttons) to do, it supports single click, double click, and click-hold.
I've got mine setup to open a 3rd party camera, and through the "Actions", start recording straight away.

Unfortunately that did not work for me, it's the one I referenced in my original post. I guess it doesn't work on all devices.
Interesting - on pixel experience plus if that helps with future rom decisions...
