Is there no options in default apps section? If not probably you can use an app that is used in Fire/Android TV, you could try something like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/any-launcher-no-root-launcher-hijack-v4.3561026/ or this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...manager-change-launcher-without-root.4176349/

Thank you.
First method, only managed to open the launcher after the restart but then it is not functioning.
2nd method, not working !!

There isn't an option to choose default apps?
Try this in ADB:
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN
You will have a list to choose from.
Also you can set it up with:
adb shell
cmd package set-home-activity com.teslacoilsw.launcher/.YourLauncherActivity

Is it your device seen through adb devices?
Update Java and set it up to be used for ALL the users on Windows and from ALL the paths. Open the CMD as administrator.
And again, is it the Default app section missed onto your device? Or just allowed some default app like browser and so?

- My device is seen through adb services.
- Java installed and I run cmd as admin
- When I go to the setting to change the default launcher it gives me only one option which is Honor Home in spite of the fact that I installed two other 3rd party launcher (microsoft and nova)

Evidently Honor is not allowing to use a third-party launcher app, just trying some workaround, this is the reason why java is not fully can do its job.
Can you Clear Defaults inside the settings of the Honor Home?
Or Can you disable/freeze it? To see what happens next.

I guess that when you press to Nova launcher, you are getting back to the stock home launcher.
Other thing, would be giving the home button to open a specific app like Nova, but probably not a great solution.
As you seen, Magic UI don't want you to use a different launcher.
Unfortunately it seems that your last chance will be rooting the device.

OK I'll help you with this.
I won't write a whole guide on it, just give you an overview and you guys do it on your own.
First install whatever launcher you wanna run.
Then find the name of the default launcher, "honor home".
Use adb or easier use multi-tool 8 (pc app, from an xda member) , to disable the default launcher.
[Tip- Name of launcher will kot be honor home but com.xxxxxx,so find out the name of the launcher beforehand]
Disconnect from pc.
Restart, should show option of changing launcher, or start on the other installed launcher.
In case of any problems, use multi tool 8, to enable honor home.
There's your solution.

Organize your Android apps into groups.
GroupHome is a program that organizes all the apps you've installed on your phone. It automatically groups together apps using the categories shown in Android Market. This grouping approach helps you find apps faster. You can long-press on an app to uninstall it or view its details.

Pretty damn cool actually. Would definitely be great for people with tons of apps installed.
Looks great, but whatever you attached only has a file folder included. There's nothing to install, no apk.
EDIT: Google is my friend. Searched and found it: http://www.jsharkey.org/blog/2008/12/15/grouphome-organize-your-android-apps-into-groups/
whoops lol I zipped up an empty folder
Fixed it...sorry about that.
SWEET! I was just thinking this was something that was really needed! Thanks. Who is the developer? This is definitely needed for the sliding dock. I hate having my apps shuffled around whever I ad one or two.. It's so hard to find stuff.
how do i add this app? details please
it's annoying how you can't actually replace the launcher with this. that would be awesome. using this as a seperate app, which you have to load from the launcher seems stupidly pointless to me. i think i'll wait.
the only thing I hate about this app is that it starts slow at the first time (fine) and after one or more apps get uninstalled (erhhh) and after I do a restart (grrrhh).

first go to settings > Application settings > and check unknown sources.
Then place the apk on the root of your SD card
Then go to the app market and install app installer.
Start app installer and it will find the apk on your sd card and install it.
You can remove the apk after installation.

There is also a app called "Linda file manager" that works great too for more then just running the installer.

Using Vibrant Touch Wiz Launcher on Fascinate

I was able to take the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk from the Vibrant and replace the stock version on the Fascinate. What this buys me is the ability to have an Alphabetical grid option in the app drawer. I hated not having the grid in alphabetical order since I knew it was an option on the Vibrant. I posted this on the AC forums and since people liked it over there I'm posting it here.
Instructions:
1) Backup current apk & odex files
2) copy over new apk & delete the odex
3) restart your phone. If you don't you'll get a bunch of force close messages.
Works great but one thing I would like to know how to do is set my own home screen. I only use 3 screens and I want to be able to use the 2nd screen but there is no option to do this with the vibrant launcher.
Bam! New dock!!! The fascinate launcher doesnt allow this

doesnt work for me when i replace the old apk. Wont install either.
Edit:
Ok for people needing help on installing this. Do as the OP states and do the following and for people who cant seem to get back onto TW you have to erase defaults on any current launchers and press home to set TW as default
This version of Touchwiz has GOOGLE SEARCH for people who want to use Tw only.
When I backup using Titanium Backup, does it also backup the odex files?

Awesome, thanks alot.
Now can someone PLEASE get the Vibrant's contacts app working on the Fascinate?
There's more than one way to do this. I would not use Titanium Backup for this. Replacing the stock launcher can cause force close errors which can make getting to the Titanium Backup app impossible. I mean... think about it... you're deleting the launcher - and you use the launcher to launch Titanium Backup. ADB is most likely the best method to get this done, however a file manager such as Root Explorer will also do the job.
This didn't work for me initially, because I only had the stock TouchWiz launcher installed. The best way to get this installed is to have an alternate launcher installed, such as Launcher Pro. You also must have root access to your phone. I'm not responsible for what you do.
- If you only have the stock launcher installed, install an alternate such as Launcher Pro from the Market.
- If you have multiple launchers already, make sure TwLauncher is NOT the default. Clear the default by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > *whatever launcher you use* > Clear Defaults
- Make Launcher Pro your current launcher - if the TouchWiz Launcher is active, you will have problems
- Copy the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk to your SD card (I put mine in my /sdcard/download/ folder - this is where I keep downloaded .apk files)
- Make a backup (COPY) the original Verizon TouchWiz30Launcher files (I copied /system/app/TouchWiz30Launcher.* to /sdcard/bacukp/app-del/ - this is where I keep all the stock bloatware files; I keep them there just in case... that's why you'll never see me post "help!! I deleted this file and I need it back!")
- Copy the new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk file from /sdcard/download/ to /system/app/ - overwriting the original one - make sure you backed this file up first!!
- Delete the /system/app/TouchWiz30Launcher.odex file - make sure you backed this file up first!!
- Reboot the phone
If you cleared the launcher defaults, it should ask which launcher you want to use after you unlock your phone. The Vibrant Launcher should now work. I don't see how to change the dock other than to edit the .apk directly. The alphabetical grid is option is there and the settings (gear) button isn't - you know, the one that lets you edit home screens and stuff. Those are the only differences I notice.
The instructions above should allow you to use ADB or a file manager. As long as you read them and you understand what you're doing, you should be okay.
I used Android Commander and followed the instructions above. I cannot get the dock like posted a few post ago, but I'm happy with this and the loss of bing.
Wow. Worked like a charm for me. Thanks for sharing.
Anyway to get the squares behind the icons like the default TouchWiz launcher?
Instructions on the custom docks at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8659696#post8659696
I'm getting my fascinate in about a week. will definitely install this
This is pretty sweet. Along with the Google Search widget and the Alphabetic Grid, I like that the dock at the bottom is more transparent. I downloaded the Epic dump and tried to put that launcher in my system/app directory the same way but it totally didn't work. =[

Action Launcher 3 supports swipe for Google Now integration (root users only)

Looks like Action Launcher 3 now supports swiping right to access the Google Now page. I've gone ahead and gone through the process of enabling it on my OP3 and 6P and so far it's been flawless. Very happy to finally have this feature back.
To enable this feature you have to install Action Launcher 3 as a system app. To do this, you must do the following:
1) Download the Action Launcher APK from here: APK Mirror Link
2) Push the APK to your device by using ADB commands to type the following adb push action3.apk /sdcard/
3) Move the APK to system partition by typing the following...
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
mv /sdcard/action3.apk /system/priv-app
chmod 644 /system/priv-app/action3.apk
mount -o ro,remount /system
exit
exit
4) Reboot (ADB reboot)
5) Once you reboot, Action Launcher 3 will be installed as a system app. Let the app update to 3.8.1 from the playstore.
6) Once Action Launcher is updated enable Google Now integration by going to Action Launcher Settings > Desktop> Google Now Integration (Alpha)
It should now be enabled. Swiping right on the home screen slides the Google Now page into frame, just like with the stock Google launcher.

Accidently removed huawei dialer

Hi everyone,
i wanted to remove duplicate apps like com.android.google.contacts and com.android.contacts (same for calendar) thanks to EMUI.
I did it with adb following guides from the xda-forum.
Afterwards i realized my telephone-app / dialer was gone and i can't find a working apk of a google dialer.
Can someone provide me the official emui dialer apk or help out on another way?
Thanks guys!
first of all, you can flash stock rom to get everything back.... 2nd why not freezes the apps rather then delete them?

Sadly not for me, maybe it's a problem with my european version of the p20 pro
Well titanium backup kan freeze a app when youi have root but you need to do it in ADB if you dont have root.
if you're rooted with magisk, download and install google framework module. It'll allow you to install google phone app directly from playstore.
@aederson, Extract the contents of this zip folder to system/priv-app/Contacts. You will probably need to recreate the Contacts folder. After reboot you should have your dialer back if that is all that was deleted. The dialer is part of the contacts APK so you need it installed to keep the stock dialer. Please hit thanks if this works.
If you are not rooted you may be out of luck aside from performing a system recovery. You can uninstall system apps via adb without root but I haven't found a method of putting them back yet that doesn't require su privilege.
many thanks saskatoon. Same problem here. I think the last option is the factory reset .... or root...

Can not install rootless Pixel Launcher after updating to Pie (App not installed)

Hello,
Yesterday, I updated my A2 to pie (using the VPN method) and I tried to download and install the rootless pixel launcher (launcher3-aosp-debug.apk) but during the installation it stops and an error with ,,App not installed" comes up. I know that Android Pie already uses a launcher that looks exactly like the pixel launcher but it isn't called ,,pixel launcher" in the settings (it is called ,,Quickstep") and it is missing one feature that I really like (swiping down on the home screen for notification bar). Since the app isn't labled as pixel launcher I don't really get why I can not install it.
Here is the ,,error"

There is no way that you can uninstall system apps without root. . .
Give a try for CPL (if you are interested) . . . .
Don't delete quickstep if you use the Pie Gestures!
I did that without knowing that part of the Gestures' code is written inside the launcher.
The only way you can use a third party launcher with Gestures without loosing the animation and the ability to access the app drawer from anywhere, is having Magisk installed, the latest Lawnchair v2, and the Lawnstep Magisk Module...
I've tried everything, every stock pixel launcher apk... everything, it isn't worth the time because when an OTA comes out, you need to restore the device and unroot...
Otherwise...you are good to go!
PS: you can delete system apps without root, you need a computer and using ADB command you can do it, I don't remember the command but it's easy to find on Google.

Google at a glance.
Try with Trebuchet 15.1 (port) on pie9 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-lineageos-15-trebuchet-laucher-rom-t3667436
supports everything & is best solution for pie9..
Try this (only root):
1. Copy rootless pixel bridge apk to system\app
2. On apk properties set permissions owner: read & write, group: read, others: read.
3. Reboot.
4. Enable feed and google at a glance in the launcher configuration.
Feed and google at a glance are back, but you can't access to weather by touching it. It can be solved replacing it for the google widget.
Cheers!

The only fix that I found so far (without rooting) is to use the Lawnchair 2 launcher, you can find the apk on apkmirror (not available on google play store) . It even has the dark google feed which doesn't work on the default launcher.
I hope that this could help you.
