Can someone explain the difference between the current ROMs on the mi5?
Mine has arrived with the .eu ROM, but I note there's the global one and the Chinese one. What are the differences between these? Are there any other ROMs (aside CM)?

I doubt that your phone came with xiaomi.eu rom, probably with a fake one. Post a screenshot from about section in settings.
You can flash any MIUI rom with locked bootloader except newer versions of xiaomi.eu rom than 6.4.21. There was a thread on honorbuy how to do it, do some digging.
There are no other no miui roms except CM.

Alright, so your rom is official xiaomi.eu rom.
Official china -> only english and chinese available, no GApps preinstalled, many parts of the system are still in chinese even if you choose the english language.
Official global -> Many languages, GApps preinstalled, it's not updated as often as the chinese one (there's no official global available atm, there was but it's been suspended)
Xiaomi.eu -> 50+ languages, GApps preinstalled, updated weekly (dev) or as often as chinese stable. It also contains some performance tweaks and optimizations.

Thanks for clearing that up!! I appreciate it. Xiaomi.eu seems to be the best ROM if you're in Europe.
Is xiaomi.eu non official?? Am I running the latest version??
So installing anything other than CM doesn't require BL unlocked? I've applied for that, but looking at other posts, will take some time to get the approval.

that clears things up. big thanks. but would you happen to know about the camera (photo/video) quality of Xiaomi.EU vs stock china/global rom? is it on par or maybe better?

You can install every official MIUI rom without unlocking bootloader. You can do it by flashing in EDL mode, I believe there are some guides on the official miui forum.
Xiaomi.eu is an unnoficial ROM created by community. Xiaomi.eu is based on china dev / stable and it is updated as often as china dev / stable is. Camera is the same I guess.. @white43 you're not running the latest xiaomi.eu, you have 7.2.12 and I believe the newest is 7.3.3(?). You'll need to wait for your bootloader to be unlocked in order to flash the newest one.

Use cofface twrp then u wont have got ur bootloader locked as it will prevent such thing.
Or u can try with cofface based twrp like zcx or alka but for me cofface is the best but it has lesser backup options.

I'm on MIUI 9.5 of China ver with Mi8, and waiting for the Bootloader Unlock, last 700hrs.
According to the article , Mi8 dipper has been affected by the Rollback Protection. Then, the every options below are available for me?
[Precondition]
-After unlock.
-No root, no re-lock.
1) China MIUI 9.5.11.0 --> Global 10.0.2.0 (stock) or Xiaomi.eu Latest Stable 10.0.6.0
I think this would be simply available.
2) China MIUI 10.0.6.0 (After updated with stock) --> Global 10.0.2.0 (Stock)
Global Stocks only have 10.0.2.0, but My pre-install China MIUI try to make me install latest 10.0.6.0 MIUI naggingly.
Does it means that I won't be able to go back to Global latest, once I hit to reboot and install latest China MIUI?
3) China MIUI 10.0.6.0 (After updated with stock) --> Xiaomi.eu Latest Stable 10.0.6.0
It seems the those two versions are equal, so available, right?
4) Xiaomi.eu Latest Stable 10.0.6.0 --> Global 10.0.2.0 (Stock)
Is this case regarded as "Rollback" and will be bricked?
The article said the "anti rollback index" shows the availability between the ROMs.

I'm not 100% sure on how badly this affects everything, and I assume others either. Regarding why you are unable to find the flash all .bat and so on, you most likely downloaded a flashable zip rom, not the fastboot rom. As for the anti rollback, read the section under "How to find current rollback index" and below that paragraph, "How to find rollback index of images".

I had thought it, either. However, I could not find out the "fastboot ROM" as far as I searched.
Method 2: Fastboot Update: en.miui.com/a-234.html might be aimed to show us the "fastboot ROM" but it just forward me to miui.com on latest Mi8 Global Stable link.
Xiaomi doesn't publish "fastboot ROM" other than flashable zip? How can I confirm Rollback Indexes on these ROM before flashing?

I think many get the ARB function wrong.
ARB does not mean you cannot downgrade from one MIUI version to another, it is a measure implemented by google to fix potential loopholes between MAJOR android version.
This mean you are totally free to downgrade from 10.0.2.0 to 9.5.11.0 because both of them are based on android 8.1, HOWEVER you cannot for instance downgrade from the MIUI beta to stable because the beta rom is based on android 9 (thus increasing the ARB index)
TL;DR as long as you are flashing miui based on the SAME android version you are good and won't brick, ARB kicks in when you try to downgrade between major android version (pie->oreo)

Thank you for giving me where I got wrong clearly.
If so, as long as I pick stable release ROM like many apprentice do, I won't get any issues on switching except for Android Major update, not MIUI.

In first, this in an alpha version, then there is some bugs. You can use it for a daily rom. Personally, it's my favorite ROM since a lot of years.
I beleve, she is only base on caf then it's optimise for Qualcomm's device. Fluidity and good performance, and very good battery life.
I repeate, it's an alpha version, let the dev work and you'll see the magic
i instaled opengapps and they don`t appear, Google Play is missing. tried full and nano.

Same for me, it's really frustating, i don't know why it's shown in the instructions, i waste several hours by trying this and install at least PE + again?!

You need to format data in the wipe section directly.
And use another firmware, flash the full ROM of stable miui 11 of 04/11. The xiaomi.EU 's ROM is not the good firmware, I think.

We are very excited to announce the alpha of Paranoid Android Sapphire, based on Android 12.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.
Notice
As we are growing on our list of supported devices in each release, we require of a stronger build environment so we can speed up the compilation process for releases. Based on the actual Quartz 4 list, we support over 30 devices, which takes between 2 and 3 days for all the builds to be completed without counting possible compilation issues or rebuild needs, based on our current specs.
We kindly ask all of you that are in position to donate anything, to help and support us so we can provide better and faster build releases, as well as increase the download speed of our servers, all looking for your enjoyment.

There are likely many other issues, these are just the most prominent to me. Don't come into this with the expectation any issue you come across will be fixed in a timely manner.
Requirements
Make sure to flash MIUI Stable 12.5.11 firmware before install the build.

Note: Custom kernels are not supported unless the kernel says it supports PA and GMS is included!
Instructions
[1] Reboot to Recovery.
[2] Format data and wipe cache & dalvik
[3] Go to Apply update from ADB Sideload or install from twrp
If you already flashed Alpha 1 and want to update, then you can just sideload the OTA in recovery if it is avaliable, be sure use the required firmware..

Now I don't have it. I'm on pixel experience android 12. Would it be useful to just flash the rom through twrp?

You can use linked twrp to flash rom
Sir, the ROM is very beautiful and very smooth to use. But i could not use banking apps. Any workaround for that?
BTW i would also like to thank you for your great effort.

Thank you for this rom! Very thrifty for me so far. Two things:
- The display frequence can not be chanced?
- Make the rom without gapps would it more costumized for everyone

I would like to try this rom, but I need to know what steps (and in what order) do I have to follow, according to my situation.
I already have a custom rom installed and a custom kernel as well. What do I have to do first? and then?
The required firmware is already installed.
Can anyone help me?

So today I had the chance to test the ROM during the day.
The display is not perfect working and I can´t send SMS messages.
Battery is fine.
Is it possibile to flash this one from xiaomi.eu latest weekly android 12 based?

Weren't you asking if this ROM could be flashed over the latest XEU A12 weekly? And if the OP says that you need to have the XEU 12.5.10 stable (which is A11), the simple conclusion is that you are risking to brick your phone if you try it from the weekly (that has also a different TWRP).
A guy above asked about moving from XEU 12.5.10 (which is stable, not weekly, which is A11, not A12).
