Hey. I fixed the issue with my new 8gb/256gb Redmi Note 10 Pro from the previous thread, but now I noticed something else. Dark grey areas get tinted rather noticeably at low brightness, but also for some reason at a couple of additional brightness points along the brightness slider; it is more noticeable if 120hz is enabled, and at minimum if Standard color scheme and 60hz are used. Also, it seems the brightness dips about two thirds up the brightness slider, so the screen seems to flicker in brightness when manually adjusting across that brightness point; it's currently night here and I haven't checked if it also noticeably happens during auto brightness at daylight.
So regarding the tinting – I found other people mentioned it, some claiming it is "normal for AMOLED screens", but some RN 10 Pro users then said their screens don't do that and actually the AMOLED screen on my older 9T didn't seem to have this issue.
Regarding the "jumping brightness" – I'm not sure I've seen references to this, but either way it also seems a bit like a hardware issue with how the screen handles different currents.
What do you think? Does it sound like I should ask to replace the unit? I'll also mention I saw Netflix very occasionally stutters, although that would more likely be related to software optimization.

HTC's website says the HD7 has an "Ambient light sensor".
When I have the Brightness settings on "Automatically adjust", I do not see any changes to the screen brightness. Darkness and sunlight have no effect. Curious to know if others are having the same problem or if my phone is faulty.

If I set mine to Automatically Adjust on either low/medium or high settings it does adjust according to ambient lighting.
Have tested by holding up to a light bulb on all 3 settings and have noticed the changes.

A bit more experimenting with a LED torch and it does seem to be working. The curve is not as I would like though. I would prefer the screen darker in darkness and brighter in the light much like my old iPhone. I was in full sun today and the screen still wasn’t full brightness. So with it on High and Auto off, the screen was brighter than when on High and Auto on. So Auto was bringing my brightness down to what seemed to be about medium levels making the screen a bit of a pain to see. I want full brightness in sunlight please. I am sure others will prefer this default setting though, especially those concerned about battery life. Hopefully a future software tweak will allow sensitivity and brightness curve adjustments. Until then, I will stick with the "high" setting and Auto off.

Have same problem.. Automatic light have no effect on my HTC HD7 (unbranded, with and without nodo).
I totally agree, with me its more of a problem in the darkness. It is way too high when it is completely dark and its more obvious when I switch it from auto to "low" as the screen does become much darker.
Its something with either HTC or windows as my old touch pro 2 had the same problem, in complete darkness the screen would never go lower than 30%...
The light sensor on my hd7 never seems to work..they should implement the way it is on the iphone

Heared on HD2 it work's fine. If it software issue then MS mast fix it.
yea my phones ambient light sensor doesnt work either i see no changes with the auto setting on.
Auto-Brightness works fine over over here - o2 debranded with NoDo update.
When i take the phone out of my pocket/case in sunlight, i notice about 2 - 3 seconds after I unlock it, it gets noticeably brighter and when comparing to "high" brightness without auto it's exactly the saem. Agreed though i would like it to be dimmer in complete darkness (in bed, for example).
I am curious if there is a registry entry that I can change to help with the highest and lowest settings. If I turn on auto it does adjust it slightly when I am inside, but when I am in the sunlight I can hardly see anything. If there is no light also it is still what looks like a medium setting making it very bright. I hope we can figure this out, it isn't a big deal but still BTW I am on TMOUS with NODO
Hello, I would like to know whether other people see the same like I see.
The lower area, around the fingerprint scanner is a bit more blue than
the rest of the display (which is slightly yellow at automatic contrast).
This gets mainly visible with low brightness and
disappears with max brightness.
Is this just my unit or do you see something similar?
Browsing around internet forums I read about quite a few issues on 9T / Pro displays: it looks like some devices do present uneven display brightness, but higher on one side and lower on the other side.
This issue is visible almost only under low light conditions.
I'd be interested to know how many devices have this kind of issus.

I was expecting variations across the display at low brightness setting. It's a AMOLED thing, we're told, and as an engineer I can see why the technical challenge exists.
Having said all that, my display seems practically perfect even at low brightness.
Although I tend to be easily annoyed by flickering displays, I haven't found it necessary to switch on anti-flicker mode (DC brightness control). I can see why that might make the display brightness more irregular.
While poll votes are just a little number, is nice to see that the display quality looks good.

Do anyone also experiences uneven shades of dark gray with dc dimming is on?, or it is just my mi 9t pro global has a defected amoled screem? Any feedback will be much appreciated.
The apps that I used to reproduce the uneven shades of gray are the chrome, xda and youtube in dark mode if that helps. The darker shades of gray's location on screen doesn't change even in switching between the mentioned apps.
Well you clearly didn't read. It literally says right under the DC dimming feature that it may affect image quality. Amoled Displays run off of constant voltage using PWM to reduce the brightness. DC dimming invovles lowering the voltage to lower the brightness causing small color shifts and stuff. There is nothing wrong with your phone

I did read it, but i did not expect that it will be that much impact to the color quality of the display. I also just want to know if others are experiencing this as much in mine or just subtle, that is barely visible. Very thank you for your feedback you good sir :good:
Can anyone provide a picture of 2 phones or the same phone with separate pics actually showing ambient EQ doing it's thing? I tried having it on and off for long periods of time and I've noticed what seems like no difference in color temperature. I just got this XL off swappa a few weeks ago and I came from the 2 XL which has a totally different color experience. I like the color and temp on the 2 XL over this 4 XL but what's boggling my mind is the settings and if they are what is causing the issues! I've read that a ton of people are having issues with this greenish tint/hue at lower brightness and it seems as though this phone has the problem as well. It's killing me as the screen always looks like I have a low level of night mode on, it's super warm and will turn grays to greenish hues at lower brightness. I wonder if ambient EQ that is supposed to be dynamically adjusting screen temp and colors based on ambient light is just basically broken and THAT is what is causing so many issues with the color temp and washed out vibrancy. I've tried all the suggested settings about forcing 90Hz, AOD, etc etc but nothing seems to change this. Infact 90Hz just being on in the normal display settings makes it worse. I did a split screen with settings and chrome on this website (I have dark theme enabled) and toggled smooth display and I can see it get MORE greenish when on so I've turned it off for now. Anyone else think that ambient EQ might be the root of the issues? By the way, I factory reset this phone like 4 times already when I first got it thinking that might help but it has not. Thoughts??
Blame samsung. Oneplus 7t which also has 90hz refresh rate suffers the same issue
