Glad to see this open up, I'm hoping there will be some solid development for this device I pre-ordered it on the 11th January ( import China to UK ) I got a "shipped" email early morning 17th January. According to tracking ( 32 hours later ) it's still in China though I chose the fastest shipping option, express 8-15 days. The model I ordered is 12/256GB in black.

Waiting on Global to be released... around March

It arrived this morning ( 25th January 2022 )
I know someone was having a little concern about unlocking the bootloader, so I can confirm, as expected, I was able to unlock the bootloader of the Chinese model OnePlus 10 Pro NE2210 with COS 12.1

No, I'm in UK. When sending messages with Google messages app it asks me to allow it with a "send it" or "cancel" pop-up, with the OnePlus ( built-in ) messages app it sends immediately, but this is with SMS, with RCS it also sends immediately from Google messages after the same initial pop-up with a "remember my choice" option.

I have talked to OnePlus, opo, and AT&T and they all blame each other. I've tried factory data reset and everything that I possibly know.
Funny thing is I can send a group message to my immediate family members which all have iPhones and it doesn't ask for a password or a fingerprint

The new OnePlus 10 Pro's has an LTPO2 AMOLED Capacitive Touchscreen display that is the latest one and well known for its outstanding results.

Google Pay doesn't even work rooted with Safetynet passed. I get this strange error, I've used it on several phones before, also rooted I haven't tried anything more extensive yet though.

me is single messages is very annoying for an awesome phone. another thing is there a way to get notifications with some apps I feel it goes to sleep.

While i haven't heard anything credible about the potential price of the OnePlus 10 Pro yet, judging from the prices of the previous generation, we can estimate that the OnePlus 10 Pro will likely start at around $999.

It looks like you have to into each individual apps notification settings and allow some stuff. A messa around I I know, but it's the only way I know of so far. This is what I have selected for XDA, for example.

My latest discharge on OnePlus 10 Pro.

Hi. I asked Wonda mobile. They didn't have it but followed up and obtained one fo me. It was about $125.
It was shipped together with Mate 10. I should get it in about 5 days. Will let you know how it turns out.
Ah I could have asked them to send it with my phone when I ordered from them.

I'm still not completely convinced Wonda is sending me the official Envizion 360 Camera. Although the image of it they sent me looks a lot like it. However the associated box did not have the word Envizion
on it. Everything else looks like Huawei's ad for it. Maybe the model is indicated elsewhere on the box where I couldn't see. I'm inquiring about it. Hopefully everything works out!

I received phone and camera. The delivered camera is called the Huawei 360 Panoramic VR Camera. Model CV60. I looked it up on internet and the specs seem nearly the same as the Envizion 360 except that, from what I read, the Envizion is 30g and the CV60 model is 50g. Maybe that info was not correct or different materials used or they are truly different devices. All else, as far as I can tell, was the same including resolution and performance. Maybe the word Envizion was used when applying for patent in US. Also, I just tried it and it seems to work as shown in a youtube video about the Envizion.
So it seems like it is the same or equivalent. Regardless, I'm fine with this. If anyone knows more please feel free to chime in!
PS. I haven't had a chance to play with the Mate 10, but, one thing for sure, the camera does a nicer job than Mate 9 in lower light. Also like running navigation from fps. A nice touch! (no pun intended...)
So Wonda Mobile sell the camera as an optional add on when you buy a Mate 10 but they also sell it separately if you ask them. £109 plus DHL shipping.
Anywhere in Europe that also sells it?

I pre-ordered mine and received that camera as a bundle package. Currently trying to sell that locally as it's no use to me, my recording skills are so poor that I rarely record anything. As I 've seem some Polish re-sellers have that camera in offer.

Sorry for the hijack. This is driving me nuts though.
I received the Huawei 360 VR camera as part of a bundle with the Mate 10 today (Vodafone Australia).
I cannot get it to work though, and I'm not sure if it is the camera, or the fact that the rom upgraded once I hit wifi.
When plugged in, the camera light comes on for a few seconds. Nothing shows up in the camera app though.
ALP-L09 Phone running rom v8.0.0.128 (C346).
Anyone else having this issue?

should I return my new brand new Mate 10 pro?

Should I return my new Mate 10 pro?
very new here. Bought mate 10 pro from amazon recently. Absolutely love the phone. it's so snappy and has fantastic camera and battery life. infact got one for my wife who loves the phone too. But, there are news/rumours circulating that Huawei plans to completely abandon mate 10 pro in north America and last update was in sometime in march.
While rest of the world with same model gets updates it looks like Huawei has turned a blind eye to customers who purchased in the US.
I'm not on of those guys who is willing to root or change device version to get updates. it is one of the reasons to buy a premium device. I'm wondering if I should carry a premium device with no updates in the horizon. I mean I'm not really sure if there is any point in doing so.
Still have about 10 days left. Should I return it or just hope Huawei will update this device and hold on?
are there other easy options to get timely updates?your thoughts pls....

Actually, I think that the US made it extremely difficult for Huawei to sell their product.
So they might have reason to hold back on US handsets.... I just remember that Huawei were almost blacklisted in the USA for a while.....

Hard question, huawei support will probably give you a bs answer so thzat you keep the phone.
I havent heard that they are abandoning the US handsets from what I heard they just late on updates but so are the UK and Australia. For all i know you should not keep the phone if timely updates are important to you.
If you love the phone exept for that one fact i think it is worth keeping it. there is no perfect phone and if updates are not your biggest concern then be it. LG and samsung lack behind on updates even more. so in this regard you are still alright (my friend once did not receive one update in 6 months on his s8 last year) LG v30 (flagship of last year) just got the oreo update.
If you ask me your phone wont be hacked and destroyed if you dont have the latest android security patches (many oems got caught faking the newest versions anyway). and for the safety of your data: lol you give them away for free to all those tech companies anyway so why bother, the intelligence services already have access.
and especially all this huawei is a bad chinese spying company stories are completely made up and not backed by any evidence. this is coming from the only country that actually got caught (snowden leaks) so i would highly doubt everything these "intelligence" services say without providing solid evidence.

I called support yesterday after seeing that article. They told me the US Mate 10 Pro is definitely getting face unlock, camera enhancements and EMUI 8.1 but no guarantee on GPU Turbo... It sucks. I am disappointed. You are better off returning the Mate 10 Pro and getting a P20 Pro. The P20 Pro allows for VoLTE on US carriers including T-Mobile and AT&T out of the box and then you'll get the updates we all want. The international version of the Mate 10 Pro, the BLA-L29, does not support VoLTE out of the box. You have to unlock bootloader and root the phone to make that work and then you'll get the updates you want but I believe every time you update your phone from that point on, you have to set it up from scratch...

I contacted Huawei service as well and they did mention that US version will get an update. I guess US model will be among the last to receive updates as Huawei really doesn't have much market here so they would focus more on other regions. If slow software updates bugs you, yes return the phone. I have been using this phone for 6 months now and i like it except for few s/w bugs which are annoying but not deal breaker for me. Hopefully 8.1 will fix most of those.

Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
spoke with CSR. He didn't give out too much information. He said that this is a new device and chances for not having updates is highly unlikely given huawei is selling these phones as unlocked in US with warranty.
He said it may get delayed depending on when the software is tested and ready for release. But again no commits since he didn't have any dates. The only thing he told was he cannot comment on news from third party sites.

Don't get hung up on GPU turbo update. I work for the world's best GPU company (NVIDIA) . The numbers they quote are usually fudged. Yes you can have 10-15% perf enhancement with improved power efficiency, But don't read too much into it.
Now coming back to my usage, I rarely game. My usage is usually email, browser, messages, maps. I have moved away from all this phone gaming 3-4 years back. So your news that all updates except GPU turbo update sounds encouraging to me. But then again I'm not sure if I want to buy a sales tech support specialist. Still dilly dallying on my decision to keep the phone or not.
Phone is too good. Just worried about not even getting security updates let alone major updates.

You make excellent points. I don't game on my phone either. They are making the USA wait the longest just with general updates which I'm unhappy with on my BLA-A09. And on my home rig I have a GTX 1080. I'm very happy with Nvidia.

The BLA-L29 works in the USA with VoLTE with which carriers? Maybe you misunderstand me? I said the BLA-L29 does not work with any US carriers with VoLTE. Huawei locked it down since they have a US version of the phone, the BLA-A09.
I'm sincerely curious because I've tried many and have not had success. Definitely did not work with T-Mobile...

lol sorry i just read the part with the mate 10 pro, skipped details on the p20 sentence. sorry
Just picked one up as well on Amazon prime day and also felt a little weary because of lack of updates and also spoke to tech support and reassured me that updates will still come, but not in the manner the rest of the world is receiving. They still intend to be a player in the states in the future so it makes sense for them to continue to support their small fanbase currently in the states. And it seems they have a location in Texas dedicated for phone repairs, and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but hopefully it means they're investing/gambling on a future here in the states.
I have the mate 10 pro usa version ...If I had the option to get it today I would not get it, not because it's not a fantastic phone but because after speaking to their customer service today, the details which I posted in another thread, they have obviously relegated the usa models to unwanted cousin status. It's possible it may get future updates but it is not in their priorities.
I would either get a different make like the oneplus with usa support or get an international version of the P20 or the upcoming mate 20, definitely not a usa model, unless you get it at a bargain price.
Hmm, still interested in buying, but maybe its better to spend the extra $30 on Amazon to get the international version (BLA-L29) and avoid the US model.
Amazon Germany now sells it for 450€ compared to the starting price of 800€ (with tax). I think roughly 40% discount on whatever it started at in the US is a good deal. If you'd only save like 25% for a 'previous-year-flagship' i think its too expensive. Here in Germany/Europe prices of Android phones drop very fast. Especially LG and samsung. The G7 hit us with the ridiculous price of 850€ in Mai and dropped down to 575€ (30%) already, in just 2 months. Samsung S9 dropped from 850€ to 590€ (30%) in 4 months. Thats why the oneplus 6 isnt really the "cheap alternative" here, all the other phones, released before one plus, dropped to 500-600 already.
Then again I dont know how prices develop in the US in general. I would not suggest buying it for more than 65% of its starting price. Thats still too expensive for a phone that wont see much support and with last year's soc. (On the contrary, an extra good deal should be what justifies the bad update policy.)
If I had to choose today, I would opt for a OnePlus 6. It has an attractive price and software support, decent battery life and a faster (future proof) soc. I really think that all the downsides of the OnePlus (mono speaker, camera just under the top 5 and missing ip67) don't overshadow the overall package you get. Especially since there are the exact same waterproofing rubber bands used to seal up the phone than with all the ip67/8 phones.
Same boat, I bought one on Prime Day. Fantastic phone, super fluid, quick, fastest camera I've ever used. The news since on the GPU update, which isn't the be-all as it only works with a limited number of titles at present, is worrisome. While I don't need constant android patches, once every month or two would be nice. - For some reason, I'm not a Samsung fan, can't explain it, just not. Came off a ZTE Axon 7, which was a great phone for 2 years, but the Mate 10 Pro just flies.
What are the options to rebrand to another country on the BLA-L09? - Worth doing, do we loose anything, does anything stop working, and can it still be done?
I just saw that this phone is back down to $499 on Amazon. Then I remembered that the Huawei unlock program ends tomorrow...

UK banking apps and face unlock

Hi
I'm considering getting a pixel 4 but I do banking with nationwide and Halifax. Is the face unlock compatible with these apps? My pixel 2 has the fingerprint sensor which works a treat but that's not much use on the 4.
Cheers!

Mine doesn't work with natwest. With Xposed you can make faceunlock work like a fp tho. I also saw someone say it's down to the banks so they need to be hassled about it.
I am a little frustrated with this on my pixel 4 XL.
I bank with HSBC, Metrobank, Natwest, Capital one and Barclays.
I gave them all 1* reviews as an incentive to fix it.
I also sent emails to the developer contact options, and asked all my friends to do the same. Hopefully this will speed them up.
So far the only one I know who's working on it is HSBC.

That's exactly my point, if you don't think hundreds of 1* reviews won't make a company think about speeding things up, that seems awfully strange.

Not strange at all.
Why invest time to rush something through that only a tiny proportion of users will use.
Pixels aren't that popular so a lot of 1 star reviews is hardly going to make a dent in their ratings.
No point rushing it through when entering a password takes 2 seconds to enter.
Some may also hold back until Google release face unlock with eyes open

Some may also hold back until Google release face unlock with eyes open

Google is forcing it on DEVs, after this year if they update their app they will have to add it if they still want to support finger print unlock. I've been using the Xposed Finger Face on my root Pixel 4 XL and love it.

Yes still no pixel face unlock.
Two things though. Firstly, despite the name, it is NOT a Chinese company, it is registered in the UK. The bank was established when HK was a British colony (and a bit of Shanghai was an International concession). Secondly they might as well be though, they have just now announced they support the Chinese abrogation of human rights in HK.
Hence why I have switched to Nationwide, which apparently does work with the Pixel 4 btw.
More a reply to my own post, but the Nationwide app works flawlessly with my Pixel 4's gave unlock.
Face unlock STILL doesn't work in the UK for me with Lloyd's bank or Argos. Very disappointing.
Face unlock works with RBS.
First Direct is still a no and I don’t think they are even planning to do it.

Last pass password manager supports face unlock so at least you don't have to enter a password for any apps that don't support it natively.
As does Bitwarden.
My 3XL stopped working and I just got the 4XL yesterday. I use HSBC for my business banking and I now have to carry around the little security keypad device and generate a pass code every time I want to log into my account...cant even use a set password.
Well, in a few months I will move on from the Pixel 4 XL but it is shocking just how few major apps support Android's latest biometric API which would allow seamless use of fingerprint or facial scan for authentication.
Just seen this thread and a year later it seems that not much has changed. Nationwide works fine with Face-Unlock but still not on Halifax, HSBC and many others.

If you purchased this phone on eBay, the phone might be compromised.

This just hit me like a tank. I was clearing up some app permissions and access due to not having used several apps on months. I went into Twitter to see what was accessing my app... Imgur, Tweetcaster, Twitch, etc.
And there it was. Shows the Asus phone I have not owned for months with having recently accessed my Twitter account hours ago.
I'm logging the phone out of that account, and am now changing every password I have on every account on every online app. When it failed safetynet, I formatted the phone and retuned it. I have a Pixel 4XL now.
This was a phone that came to me via eBay, had a version of the OS that wouldn't update, so I got a refund.
Check your phones! If I find anything else, I'll post here. I don't remember much about the phone setup, but look at my previous posts and you'll see what versions and stuff it had.
You bought a Tencent Games Phone from eBay which was badly converted to WW.
Device Fingerprint was not changed from CN to WW - Hence you were not getting any updates.
Then while you sold it, You just did a factory reset (Maybe not) and sold it without revoking the device authorizations in the apps you used.

I agree that it was a bad conversion. I wasn't willing to fix what they tried to do. They also acted astonished that they could receive an already converted phone without being told that it was converted before selling it to me. I didn't believe them.
I did perform the correct factory reset, and sent it back to the original seller. It came direct from China.
Twitter showed access by that phone and model 23 hours before I downloaded and logged into Twitter. Other phones tied to that account I have not used were LAST logged in several months to a couple of years ago. This one was actively logging in.
So, not compromised. Just user error.

Bro, honestly, you just freaked out. Nothing wrong there. Just a mistake.
BTW, bar photography & screen, there is not a single department the pixel 4XL trounces ROG 2. And I believe no one interested in a great camera goes for ROG 2. That means initial reason may have been battery, power, uniqueness, gaming (air-triggers), accessories, great audio etc.
So, IMHO, you met a problem which got you worried - rightfully but then you knee-jerked into a rash and wrong decision which made you settle for less.

Settle for less? I loved the RP2! I rolled back to my Moto Z force after getting rid of the Rog. I got the 4XL about 2 months ago for 75 bucks from TMo bc they screwed something up on my account, and now pay $64 a month for 3 lines. Dafuq does my 4XL have anything to do with the RP2 showing that it logged into my Twitter account a day B4 I downloaded Twitter and logged in? I don't brag that the Pixel is better. It's a mediocre mid range with a good camera. RP2 was hands down the hw winner! The video, audio, the battery, etc.
I would trade this 4XL over to a band equivalent RP2 in a second, and still give a couple bills on top of it. But it's coverage in Dayton was sub par, hence the need for a band equivalent.
Do whatever y'all want. Call it knee jerk, call it whatever. Comment away. I thought that I was doing the appropriate thing by coming back and telling y'all since y'all were so helpful in helping me better understand my RP2 in the first place. Nothing should have shown that it logged in sans my tablet and current phone.
Night y'all
Merry Christmas
Sheesh

Lol, take it easy bro.
First of all, it makes no difference what I think. So if you prefer Pixel 2, then there's no option out there like the Pixel 2. I'm not shooting down your choice or decision, I was giving a subjective view.
Furthermore, I can assure you that a log glitch/mistake tied to time or zone difference caused that log but there's no way they would log into your twitter account. Even so, with a phone you bought from them a day before it gets to you.
Not forgetting the fact that it was flashed with a WW ROM over there in China and shipped to you.
And I'm sure it did not take a day to get to you. Also, it did not arrive with twitter installed.
In that case, then the delivery service (UPS, FEDEX, DHL, Singapore Post etc) may have been the ones who logged in just before dropping it off at your doorstep - which is next to impossible.
Either way, it's just an error in log.
BTW, your fears are justified and it's better to be safe than sorry.
Cheers mate.

General [Australia] Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Discussion

Hi guys
The preorder is up early morning itself. Place my pre-order for S21 Ultra Phantom Navy (Custom Color) from Samsung Online. Noticed the special note that it will take 3-4 weeks for getting it ready. I hope they deliver sooner than 3-4 weeks.
Whats your choice guys? Model-Color etc.
Thanks.
Anyone from Australia got their phone yet?
Ordered mine on the 21st and in my hand on the 25th January (Vodafone).
Upgraded from an S9+ and very happy (so far).

How is it? It says Dual SIM on the website. Is it Dual Physical SIM or SIM + eSIM?

My Phantom Silver 512GB model is single SIM. Was given an option to use eSIM but stayed with the physical SIM I had in my S9+.
Coming from the S9+ it's taken a while to retrain my brain to use the in-screen fingerprint scanner.
Other than that; the only annoying bug is the occasional switching back to the One UI 3.1 launcher (from Nova Prime).
Other than that, I'm very happy so far. I do miss having the option to use sdcard expansion. Transferred 3,500 odd photos and 5,000 odd MP3s from the S9 to the S21 and still have 75% free.
I tend to take far more still images than video so the physical storage limitation shouldn't cause me any issues but time will tell.

Never been a problem. Always in cloud. I stopped using MP3s long time ago.
Got update that my Phantom Navy Ultra is shipped. Should be getting tomorrow

I'm moving from Exynos S9+ too. How's battery life and general camera quality for you in comparison?
Got my phone today morning. All setup done. Loving the camera details...

No update yet. Based on my experience, Australia is the last country to get any update from Samsung
Finally for the Feb update .....HUZZAH
Got it last night.
Meanwhile, March has started rolling out in some countries.
I've been refreshing Sammobile and Frija the last couple of days hoping that they'll push it out. Nothing yet

Why? I still find it really baffling that people blame Samsung for the delays. It's the carriers that hold the updates until they've completed testing. It's been that way for as long as there have been galaxy phones. Ranting makes 0 difference, if you want to make a change, don't buy the product, hit Samsung where it actually hurts so they can push carriers to fall in line to an update cycle like apple.

Not everyone buys from carrier. I have Tab S7+ LTE & S21 Ultra bought outright from Samsung online. I don't buy from carriers for the reason you explained above. Samsung completely ignores centain countries in their release cycle.
I want to mention that, both Tab and Mobile got update on the same day after the morning rant. Could be coincidence but I posted my thought to them.
Why I have switch when I am completely ok with Android phones? If I switch, I am one in millions. For Samsung, its nothing. Because I bought Samsung, I didn't sell my soul to them and why I to be quite. If Apple can do it, Google can do it, Samsung can also do it.

You don't understand how it works in Australia then. Regardless of where you bought your phone (samsung, voda, telstra, optus) the carriers test the firmware before it's released <== process takes weeks.

100% coincidence. 100% those types of comments (your rant) have no impact on their process

Exactly. But Samsung has no vested interest in doing it when it doesn't impact them selling phones. You just said it, it doesn't stop you from buying the phone, despite you knowing that Australia releases later in the month. If people want a company to change, the most effective way is through $$$ <== don't buy their products so they know things need to change.
I'll also flag that Australia DOES get regular updates out in a timely manner i.e. it's the generally the same time each month. The issue for 'techie' people is that they know it's released in other parts of the world weeks earlier, then get annoyed about it.
If you're bothered by it, use Frija and Odin to flash the latest update manually, it's an easy process and ensures you're on the latest firmware.

Actually you don't understand how it works. All your theory is only true for carrier customised and sold phones. Rest has no relationship. If you look at CSC of unlocked Australia, it different than what sold by Telstra, Optus, etc. Please do some research before you talk about it.

Nope. None of the builds are even touched anymore since multi-csc came into play. But Aussie carriers (as in the wholesalers of the networks not the badge/csc of phone) won't allow the firmware to be pushed until they've ALL tested it. That INCLUDES XSA.
EDIT: changed wording to clarify badge/csc not brand of phone

It's pretty amusing how wrong you are, but given how defensive you're getting, I'll drop it. If you think your ranting and annoyance has any impact, go for it - you keep fighting the fight.
