All 4 and NOW apks for Chromecast With Google TV - Google Chromecast

Hi - I'm in the UK and two glaring omissions on the new Chromecast with Google TV are 'ALL 4' and 'NOW' (formerly NOW TV), two of the biggest streaming services in the UK. Does anyone know where I might be able to get apks for these apps compatible with the latest Chromecast?
Thanks in advance....

The latest All 4 from APKMirror definitely works when sideloaded, I've just done that myself.

Chromecast - anyone working on a way to play local videos?

Hey guys, I wanted to see who all here has picked up a chrome cast and what your thoughts are on it so far?
I really dig it, quick connection and ability to play things with no noticeable degradation or lag. And with HBO Go and Hulu Plus both coming soon it is going to be really nice.
One issue though that I have found is that the previous version of Google Play Movies allowed you to play locally stored videos on your device through the app. With the update to work with Chromecast this option is removed even when trying to do it on your device only so you have to use an external app such as the gallery or MX player etc.
Any word or people working on creating a cracked version of google movies or a work around to allow other apps to chromecast?

Koush has wrote a chromecast app just for that actually but due to he developer agreement with chromecast he cannot release the apk.

That is pretty slick and works for home made videos (although obviously he isn't releasing it at the moment) but as is it also wouldn't solve the problem of being able to fling other movies you have to the TV.
IE I own a digital copy of Ironman and have it on my tablet, before the google movie app would play it internally. With the update to enable chromecast it no longer shows up to even be played on the phone through the app, let alone fling it to the TV.

Planning to buy a CC ... need some answers

Hi Friends,
Am living in Kuwait where the ChromeCast has not reached officially. I however intend to buy one and would be glad if someone can answer a couple of my questions. I did go to the FAQ page, but the Google Apps page show nothing (probably because it is not available in my region) and the other page which shows the features of the product is down.
a) Can I cast any and everything from my mobile to my TV? I mean, videos, photos & music from my internal storage / SD card direct to TV?
b) How can I install apps on the CC if the google apps page turns up blank because of my region?
c) Can I check out or show my gmail, email, whatsapp & viber messages on the TV?
d) Can the CC also be unrooted? If yes, do I gain any benefits by doing this?
Thanks

I don't know if it will work in your region. Someone else will have to answer that.
A & B. You don't install apps on the CC. You use apps on your phone or computer to connect to the CC.
C. CC does have the ability to screen mirror exactly what is on your phone screen and computer screen.
D. Someone else can answer about rooting it. I know you can, but I think it's only certain numbers.

Thanks my friend
I always was having the misconception that apps were being installed in the CC. So, this really makes sense and I understand therefore there is no need to root the CC.
The Chromecast does load apps, but it loads them on demand over the internet rather than having them permanently installed. As far as I know Google has never restricted the availability of those loadable apps by region - the Chromecast worked in Canada and Europe long before it was officially sold in those regions. Of course an app may still be regionally restricted in the Apple app store or Google Play store for Android, but if you somehow work around that, its companion loadable app on the Chromecast won't be a problem.
However certain apps (like Netflix and Hulu) may impose region restrictions when you try to stream something. Even if you use a VPN on your casting computer/phone/tablet to access the geo-blocked content, the stream will fail to play on the Chromecast because it contacts the server site independently and gets hit with the same geo-blocking.
Alternatively you can use screen mirroring or tab casting from Chrome to relay the video stream to the Chromecast from your casting device, but it requires high performance, and people are still generally disappointed with the video quality.

[App] YouMap Chromecast Receiver for Android

This app turns android device to a Chromecast receiver. As far as I know, this is the only Android Chromecast receiver besides Google's own implementations.
It supports YouTube, Chrome browser tab mirroring, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, and screen mirroring. Most 3rd party apps using Google Cast SDK should also work. Yes, it works on Amazon FireTV boxes and sticks, and other major brands of Android TV boxes.
This is the trial apk, which has full features, except this current apk will expire on Feb 29, 2016, so hurry up !

Hello huisinro,
App installs OK and looks very pretty.
When I try to cast to it from an Android Phone on the same wifi network it doesn't show up at all, also tried using the Chromecast Setup App from other android phoes too.
EDIT : Tried it on a LG G3 (d855)
Thanks Rob.
Did you try the screen mirroring from the Google chromecast app? It will search for the receivers.
You may need to reboot the router.
Any news on a Amazon App store release? Would love to buy your app but need to buy through Amazon so I can use on my Fire TV and other android devices through their app store.
Still working on a version for Amazon store release, look like it will be next month.
Great, thanks.
Would love support for amlogic devices. If you need a guinea pig im happy to help. Have also bought the paid version hoping support will come one day and help development
I have a Minix X8 and X8H, which are amlogic running Android 4.4, they are working fine. What is your AMLogic device model?
Its a vigica c70t running 4.2.2.
Ok, AMLogic before android 4.4 is notorious in not supporting low level Media Codec API, which is why not working .
I will see if I can use a software decoder.
Can you check if Google chrome browser works on your box?

That'll be what my MX Box needs too, if you recall. Really looking forward to the possibility.
YouTube app works on mine, not sure about in the browser. I'll edit this in a bit after I've checked.
Edit: Tried with https://youtu.be/azV0Y7v6wsg - definitely works in both the YouTube app and in Chrome, but not when attempting to cast it from another device. @huisinro
Apk updated , fixed iOS YouTube crashing issues
Thanks for the update. Did you install the chrome browser from google play?

Yes. Just the latest Chrome.
Chrome works fine. So does netfix hulu youtube plex
What is the error when you cast YouTube to your box with YouMap? black screen?
I get unable to play video. Please choose anouther. But other apps that cast video i get a black screen with sound. But when i push the back button i get video for a second befor the app closes. Could it be an issue with stagefright on my device. Ive done a bit of research and most of what ive found points to that. I dont know much about it though
Sent from my SM-G900I using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, it's to do with Stagefright low level decoding API, which AMLogic does not support.
When you use amlogic boxes, does YouTube casting work? What about chrome tab mirroring? What about android screen mirroring?
Thank you for the great app!
I have installed Youmap Chromecast receiver into my Android settop box. where the result is strange. When I enable the Youmap receiver, all of my phone can't find it. After rebooting the router, my Nexus 4 can find the receiver only when the Android settop box connected to router through LAN cable. If the Android settop box is connected to router wirelessly, none of my phone could search it.
In the above successful case, the Nexus 4 can find and cast the screen to the Android settop box (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen > Select YouMAP (XXXX)). Although Nexus 4 and my Android settop box support Miracast, I'm pretty sure Nexus 4 is connected to the settop box by chromecast as I didn't enable Wireless Display and the search result clearly stated YouMap. On the other hand, the cast button didn't appear in Youtube app. Moreover, I tried it on my Moto G 2014 and it didn't find the receiver (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen).
Device list:
My Android settop box is MiBox 1S with Amlogic 8726-MX running Android 4.4
Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.4
Moto G 2014 running stock Android 5.0
D-link DIR-655 Wireless N router

Google Cast replaced

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but Google Cast has been replace by Google Home. I had updated my daily use stock ROM this past week and when I started to cast my Nascar Raceview app to my 40" monitor Sunday, the Google Cast app was missing. And it wasn't available in Play Store. In a panic, I restored an earlier ROM version and proceeded to watch the race.
Upon a more leisurely investigation this morning, I found that it wasn't really missing but had been replaced by Google Home. Apparently Google has just bundled Google Cast with a bunch of other stuff for controlling Chromecast and other "streaming devices", into one app. It works fine but I just wish Google had at least put a notice in Play Store to use Google Home instead of Google Cast.

DLNA, issues.

Hi.
OK, so far, I've tested:
LocalCast;
Bubbleupnp;
Web Cast Viewer;
AllConnect;
Tubio
None of them display subtitles (even though they say they do), not even local .srt files (much less web-based ones). The target device is a SamsungTV 48".
Samsung SmartView works, but it lacks features I am looking for.
I'm tired of hunting for casting apps by myself and of all the testing to try figuring them out. What I need/want is:
- an app that casts in DLNA, 'cause I don't have chromecast;
- an app that actually displays subs, local ones and open subtitles.org;
- an app that can stream local files and streamable links from other apps (terrarium, popcorn time, mobdro, etc...);
- an app that can cast these streamable links WITH SUBS.
Please, any suggestions?
Plex supports Samsung Tizen models but they are the newest ones I think.
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204080173-Which-Smart-TV-models-are-supported-
Thanks.
I got Chromecast yesterday, and now all problems are gone, since LocalCast actually is displaying subs (which it wasn't, with DLNA only).
