Question How to enable 120w fast charging - Xiaomi 11T Pro

Hello guys,
Since I bought the phone I was anxious to try the 120w fast charging, full battery in only 17min.
But, for my disappointment, I only noticed a fast charging if I let my phone charges alone, and it is not always!
Today I found out that there is a hidden feature in the Security app that allows us to activate Boost charging.
Do you know why this option came hidden and uncheck if the 120w is the greatest point of this phone?

It automatically kicks in for me. It should show 120W MAX on the charging animation and it fully charges between 17-20 minutes. But its a good practice for us 11T pro users to leave it for an extra 10 minutes to fully charge the battery and get an hour of sot

For me it only appears Mi turbo charge, it doesn't appears 120w max. I heard that is due to the global ROM I have

Mine is the global rom and it shows 120W max

Do you use original charger and cable? Only with original charger will get 120w

It's so weird so! I have a secondary charger but none of them gives me the 120w message.
I found a hidden option that allows us to activate boost charge. Tomorrow when the battery runs out I'm gonna test it

Yes!

Mine doesn't show the charging wattage on the screen but it does charge to full in about 15 minutes from something around 30% every time. I'm on 12.5.20 EEA
EDIT: It does show 120W MAX when connecting actually

I've got the 120W charger says "120W MAX"
and a 33W fast charger says "MI Turbo charge"

For me 120w works out of the box

Have to find the source but I read somewhere that 120w charging relies on what voltage the source is, there are some limitations apparently, I believe low voltage like 110v doesn't allow you to charge at 120watt.
For me it works from 220v I get 120 watt charging

Yes that's true, 110V outlets can only support up to 96W max

Any updates on this?, my phone (11T Pro) used to charge at 120watt, but lately the phone says "55watt max" instead of "120watt max" on the charging animation

POLL: Do you use Fast cable charging?

Options have 50 char limit.. So here are longer descriptions:
- Yes. Fast charging is always ON
- Never. My battery lasts the whole day and I (slowly) charge it overnight. And I am either not in a hurry or good at planning my charging time
- Sometimes. I turn it ON only when I need it
- I don't care or know anything about it. I use default settings
Is there an option to turn it off? I haven't seen it. But anyway i use my old s3 charger for all my devices. I don't trust fast chargers. They kill batteries.
Slow charge really isn't that slow.

Regarding fast changing killing batteries the charger provides a voltage to the phone, the power management controller monitors battery voltage and temperature , I would assume these have limits and will take control if outside of range in a similar way to throttling cpu frequencies when it gets too hot.

I'm using "bad" cables for show charging but being able to limit the current and the charging state without root, like on Sony smartphones, would be great

The option is in Device Care > Battery > Settings
Personally I leave fast charge turned on and use a bunch of different chargers with the phone, I just have Battery charge limit set to stop charging at either 80% or 90% (depending on when I think I'll be next able to charge) and try to start changing between 20% and 40%.

Using "bad" or cheap cables is really not the best idea, they often don't meet the USB C spec and could damage your device. Try to stick to high quality but low current chargers (Like old phone chargers) or disable Fast charging as previously mentioned.

Strange. My n9600 doesn't have that. I got device maintenance and there's some battery saving options in there but no fast charge option. Oh well the s3 charger works for me.

It's rooted. I did come up with a solution using the Automate app and a smart plug a little while back but only worked if you're charging from the charger that's plugged into the smart plug.
Yeah okay this 2 ways are well known
Thanks for the fast reply ^^
I was already questioning my eyesight. You know, Samsung UI and not finding an specific setting in menu could happen even after years I think ^^
I charge when I want, as fast as I want. I leave it on the charger overnight, everynight. Have done it this way for years and will continue to do so. Never seen I'll side effects from doing it this way. I have too much of a life to monitor my charging speed and make sure I'm next to the charger to stop it at 80%. I like waking up to 100% and using it as I see fit through the day. YMMV
Fast charging is set to ON by default straight out of the box. So youll think samsung has taken this to consideration.
Personally, i keep this off when charging with the orginal charger. I have an app called Battery Warner which alerts the user when over a set %. or if rooted it will stop charging and enable charging when it is under a %.
If i have plans to go out and the battery is low then ill throw it on fast charge.

My 2 cents:
I think Samsung doesn't care much if battery will remain healthy after 2 years. They care now to sell as much Notes as possible with the "Fast charging" marketing slogan.
That's why it's ON by default.
I never use fast charging as it will provide more harm than benefits to the battery health + I use a magisk module (Advanced Charging Controller) which have cooling mechanism and voltage monitoring and also battery temperature monitoring and this will also greatly increase the battery life on long term use.... since we got a non replaceable battery
Since I rooted my Note 9 on day 1 (I don't care about warranty) the first thing I did is I used Advanced Charging Controller and keeping my battery healthy for as long as maybe 4~6 years of usage

It does, but still the degradation is higher vs no fast charge.
on the topic: The first thing I did on my s7e was to turn off fast charging - the battery after 2.5 years is in a really great shape even after every day charging. The same I did on my note 9. Will use fast charge only if I am in real hurry and need a lot of battery fast. If the phone is changed every 2 year tho, it's not that big of a deal and everyone decides for himself.
Otherwise in most cases it's not needed to charge overnight as 0-100 without fast charging is 2h-2h and 10 minutes. As most charge from ~20%-100% it will take 1:40 to charge the phone. The overnight charge is if the phone is charging from the PC USB - the best way for battery longevity, but not really worth the hassle vs normal charger charging.
According to poll results: more than a half (or 2/3 depending how you will count) uses fast charging.
No, slow on cable and fast charge for wireless!
Photo's by Sully using SM-N960U
The high temperature is an enemy of the li-ion battery. The normal load on the cable drives the temperature to 30.5C. Fast charging on the cable tray at 34.5C. Fast wireless charge up to 37.8C. What better?
Never have and never will use "fast" cable charging. I dont wireless charge either.

charging problem

I'm facing issue with my Rog 2, my phone is not charging fast
1. I'm using 18w charger come with the phone to charge
2. I have used Xiaomi 2i power bank with 18w output to charge my phone (still not working)
3. I restart the phone on charging it goes down 36% to 29%
4. On charging when i restart the phone it goes 8% to 13%
5. I'm facing this problem from the yesterday
6. Double plus sign on battery icon as well as fast charging text on home screen is also not showing while charging
What is the issue please help anyone
Though I may be wrong, I think you need the 30W charger for that. 6,000mAh battery is quite a handful and 18W may not juice it up as fast as you want.

Well, there is obviously a problem.
There are battery apps that can monitor incoming charge though not as effective as the hardware for monitoring charge but it'll give you a fair idea if you check it out.
I think you should reach out to Asus for solutions if possible, a replacement unit.
All the best.
Bro i have another serious problem. Accidentally my phone got dropped and the volume rockers get damaged. And asus won't cover it on warrenty

FYI you can check the arrows in the battery icon when charging. 2 arrows means full speed - I guess -
Don't know if that's helps, I heard once that if charging percentage jumps in blink of an eye, then it's probably its need to collaborate battery mah with phone and it's done by dischargng your device by using it tell the phone goes to 0 and shut down it selfs , then charge it to 100% fully ..
Another app to see how fast your device being charged it's : accubattery , this is so far best option , but this app for analysis not for always use because it's consume battery like all other app

Fast Charging or Slow Charging?

Is there any way to tell whether the Xperia 1ii is currently fast charging or slow charging?
Sometimes when I plug my USB-C cable into my Samsung devices, it'll says "Fast Charging" or "Charging". If it just says "Charging", i remove the plug and plug it back in and it often says "Fast Charging" (not sure if there's dust or a loose contact between the port and cable", but nevertheless, it indicates that the device is drawing a higher current and is fast charging).
Thanks
I using super fast charger from samsung S20 into sony, but i never seeing " Fast charging" notif in sony
No it doesn't differentiate.
But it uses usb PD to fast charge not quick charger.
So I have Xperia 1 and when I connect a fast charger to it and it shows "charging" that means its fast charging and there is no way to tell? Because my S10 says it right on lockscreen, My oneplus 7 did with doublebolt on battery for dash charging even my xiaomi mi8 did say charging rapidly on lockscreen
Actually, Sony Xperia devices use the Qnovo adaptative charging to charge as fast as possible BUT not too fast in order to preserve the battery health. This is why the charge can be slower than other brands which don't care about the battery lifetime...
You can tell by how much charge % is indicated per minute what mode it's in.
On a 10+ it's double the rate of snail mode in roughly the 30-80% range.
On the 10+ fast charge will not engage if the battery temp is somewhere below 60F (not sure of the exact temp). Other makes are probably similar.
Fast charging does no harm; high cell voltage (80+%) and high temperature are what degrades them.
Low temperature charging can permanently degrade them.
Battery should be above 72F before charging to prevent Li plating in the cell.
Never charge a cell if it's near or below 32F.

Your point? My point is you can readily tell which charging mode it's in by observing the charge indicator/time interval.
Assuming the ambient room temperature isn't extreme.

And Samsung uses Qualcomm.
Niether lets you to set a charge level limit so both are equally hard on the battery in one of the most important charge parameters.
Does Qnovo chipset revert to slow charging if set to fast charge if temp is too cold?

That's pretty cool... if it works.
About time.
I aim for 64-70% most times though. An 80% lockout is certainly better than a 100% plate vaporizing charge.
Charging to 80% worked. Now I'll have to see if I get through 1 day at a single charge

I run it down into the 40's then give it a 20% charge to bring back into the 60's.
Takes 10 minutes. That gives me 2-3 hrs SOT.
I simply charge when taking a break.
Theoretically even though it uses one full charge cycle worth of current throughout the day the actual damage to the cell is equivalent to 20% of a charge cycle.

It's dropping out of fast charging.
Excessive low or high battery temperature.
Between 40-65% it should charge at about 2% @minute if temp is above 60F and below 100F.
At about 80% it should drop out of fast charging to protect the battery.
You need an approved fast charger brick (minimum 25w) and cable. Make sure cable plug is fully inserted into the brick.
A failing battery will cause erratic fast charging; replace battery if any signs of case swelling are present! Check for this... been there, done that

It wouldn't have fast charged at all if not enabled; 3500ma draw indicates it is enabled.
You can try toggling that toogle 3 times on/off while not charging. Sometimes this helps.
Try a known good (new) Samsung 25 w brick and cable.
Clear system cache.
Try a hard reboot (simulates pulling battery)
Make sure the C port contacts are clean.
A factory reset will most likely do nothing except waste your time.
If none of the above suggestions work it's a strong possibility you have a bad C port charging pcb or... a failing battery.
Any case swelling means replace the battery asap☠
A nominal fast charge profile; Note 10+ with a new battery on a Samsung 25 watt brick.
Starting battery temp was 70°F
Start 48% 4895 ma
65% 4100 ma
70% 3700 ma
The current draw can fluctuate as the charge increases depending on various parameters like temperature. Generally the draw is stronger at deeper discharge levels then tapers off as it approaches a 80% charge state. At 90% or so it will be around 800ma. At 100% the draw is 0ma.
I was thinking the phone and charger have to communicate for the charger to know the phones preference of current draw, the 3700mA dropping down could indicate that setting being received and adjusted to.

With a 3700 ma draw fast charging is engaged.
Erratic fast charging is a strong indicator of a battery failure especially if it's capacity has noticeably decreased.
I watched this type of behavior for about 2 months. It started suddenly.
I was fortunate the swelling battery didn't damage my display or worse. It sits right against the display and it's thousands of mosfets and OLEDs. That matrix is delicate...

That reported battery capacity is within normal parameters for a new battery.
No app can tell if the battery is failing other than poor capacity. Any rear panel or display bulging is a dead giveaway sign of battery failure.
Note, what Android reports as battery capacity can't be trusted It's dumb as rain.

it could be either the phone or the charger that has a problem, it's possible that it is more the 25watt charger if the 15 watt charger works as intended. I'd get both looked at, you want to be sure after the money you've spent.
I have baught this 25W Charger for my s20 fe. But, whenever I try to charge with this after several minutes of charging charger gets disconnected and reconnects within seconds itself and it continues. There is no such issue with original 15W charger. My phone is rooted & custom recovery installed.
Is it software issue or hardware issue? Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about that device but always start by using the OEM fast charger and cable.
Replace OEM charger/cable with same if not fast charging only -then- look for other causes.
A defective battery will also cause erratic fast charging. Any signs of case bulging indicates a battery failure and needs to be addressed asap.

Fortunately it didn't damage my display. The battery sits right on top of the AMOLED displays (with its thousands of mosfets and delicate matrixs) in most phones.

Question Wireless Charging Capped At 50 Watts!!!

Hello Everyone,
Getting frustrated with this phone. Can't lie. I have the 80W wireless charger along with the 120W wired charger attached to that. However I'm unable to achieve the 67 watts charging this phone claims. It's getting to be very frustrating.
I tried to install EU Rom 12.5.12 Stable, and I'm still experiencing the same issue. In fact for a little bit there, I couldn't even fast charge at all. My phone suddenly stopped wireless charging at all. The animation that it's charging would be stated, but charging was extremely slow, maybe 1-2 percent in 20 minutes.
Finally got the phone fast charging wirelessly again, don't ask me how, just tried installing the firmware update someone posted, and then tried to roll back to 12.5.8, but I failed due to the phone requiring to be completely wiped first. Once restarted though it was fast charging, but still states only at 50Watts.
Can someone please help? Can I achieve 67W like the phone claims with this 80W wireless charger?
Bump, still only getting 50W charging.
Try 12.5.17
Yeah I updated..... Still nothing.
I read China has called for a cap on wireless charging to not exceed 50w and it will be reduced to 50w in all upcoming Xiaomi phones including the mi 12 ultra
Hopefully they haven't decided to apply it retroactively through the software lol
Looks like you might be onto something here.
My Mi 11 Ultra on Android 12 gets 67w charging, with a 120w charger, official 6A cable and 80w stand.
I don't understand why I can't get 67W. I also saw a video in which the guy went into battery settings and turned on quick charge. I don't have that option.

Maybe worth flashing a different ROM , maybe the latest EEU would fix the issue.... Or just use the cable
Using EEU. Tried China ROM also, no luck.
Yikes
This is due to the 50W regulation. Charging limits are baked into the new firmware.
