A nova (plural novae) is a cataclysmic nuclear explosion caused by the accretion of hydrogen on to the surface of a white dwarf star, which ignites and starts nuclear fusion in a runaway manner. Novae are not to be confused with supernovae or luminous red novae.

Nova (click it for trivia!) is a ROM for Optimus Black which aims to replace the stock ROM and give you what stock doesn't: minimalism and speed. Any LG and OEM trace has been reduced to a minimum and it has been significantly improved and optimized while keeping the most bugfree as possible. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I have coming up with it.

Installation
A wipe is required when first flashing Nova, however, unless otherwise stated, no wipe is needed to upgrade between versions.
Download nova-xxx.zip to your sdcard storage on your OB
[Optional] Check nova-xxx.zip's Md5 to check if your download copy is corrupted
Boot into CWM Recovery through whatever method you choose (anreboot, terminal, ...)
[First flash only] Use the volume keys and power button to select Wipe Data
Select Install Zip from SD Card
Find the nova-xxx.zip file you downloaded earlier
Scroll through all the No's and hit Yes, install nova-xxx.zip
Wait for the installation to finish
Select Reboot
After the long initial reboot, reboot a second time and you're all set

A. Reboot. Didn't work? Clear its data in settings. Didn't work? Reflash and sign in google acount before running market.

I was very skeptical about trying a AOSP MIUI version in this phone but in the end I am glad I gave it a try. Yesterday night I did a clean installation of this ROM just to see how it felt like and I was immediately surprised with the first results. I ended up configuring it fully and now I am using it as my daily ROM. Here my impressions so far:
PROS:
1. MIUI goes KitKat!
2. Stability: Very solid. So far no crashes or FC's.
3. Smoothness: The GUI feels very smooth and responsive. The animations also add a much more fluent flow. However when using Apex launcher the TouchWiz variations are a tad snappier in my opinion.
4. Kernel: ROM worked out of the box. No need to flash an alternative Kernel. In my experience this is quite rare.
5. Battery: No heating or battery drain problem. I've been using it only shortly but my feeling is that battery life is just what you get with your usual MIUI ROM.
6. OTG Cable: Working fine. I could read data from a 128GB USB pen drive without problems.
7. MicroSD: Recognized without problems. I have a 64GB external card formatted with exFAT and the system handles it beautifully.
8. Less Xiaomi: There are a couple of design adjustments that make the phone more functional for non-Xiaomi Account users.
9. YouTube App: 1080p video is now possible. I never managed that with any MIUI previous versions.
10. SIM Lock Boot Problem: Solved! With previous MIUI versions the phone would be stuck in "Unlocking SIM Card.." after a reboot if a Pattern Lock was activated.
11. Phone Calls: Working so far. With the latest official KitKat Shiro version (4.11.3) I had massive audio problem with making phone calls.
There is really nothing negative I can say about this ROM. Everything just works! But just for the records here are some very personal points:
CONS:
1. Smart Cover: This TouchWiz feature is of course not available in this ROM. If you own a Flip Cover be aware that the phone will no longer respond to it. I have one and I'll try to find a third-part App to emulate this function. I didn't try any yet.
2. Viber App: I cannot change chat background.
3. YouTube App: When streaming down 1080p content the system struggles

Will this work with i9515 S4 black edition? I have read that custom roms don't work with this model, touch screen becomes useless....

Hi Luistro,
I've tried your 4.11.26 version from 4.10.18, just dalvik, cache and system wipe, no data wipe.
So far so good, few things though, google map location now only works via GPS, it can't estimate location using mobile cell tower anymore.
Also, I can't disconnect vpn once it's established, I'm using Astrill by the way.

Read all the steps correctly
BUGS:- bluetooth ear/headphones do not work workaround- ( go into phh treble settings misc features and enable force-disable a2dp offload (thanks to @Lil_Boudy for figuring it out!)
If bluetooth crashes your system disable media recommendations under Sound & Vibration > Media > Show media recommendations
mtp not working (mtp does work in twrp and in some custom kernels the one linked here does not fix mtp as it is not changing too many things compared to other custom kernels which brick some phones)
sim 1 incoming and outgoing does not work (you can revieve calls and call but you wonth hear anything nor will your mic go trying to fix) (workaround is to put your sim into slot 2) (i have heard that other people dont have this issue so i guess try your luck)
DO NOT let the phone die of battery you will not be able to boot and it will be hard to get back into the system (workaround- in magisk install acca https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/acc and install this apk after installing https://github.com/MatteCarra/AccA then set profile to default (this will shut down the phone at 5% hence removing the risk of your phone not booting after hitting 0%

by default a71 on pe charges really slow this enables fast charging for the a71 on dotos

Disclaimer: This GSI ROM is not mine. I just add optimizations and suggest other optimizations down below. I am putting this here since the A71 doesn't really have a lot of ROMs, and many GSIs don't boot on this device. So, this is going to be a device-specific thread to get this ROM up and running on the A71. All GSIs that I post here will boot if instructions are followed properly. All the credit goes to Ponces, other GSI developers, and everyone working on this GSI. I don't want this forum to be a ''copy-paste'' thread.. even if it looks like it. What is this?
This ROM is based on a GSI with A71 specific optimizations. Also Google optimizes stuff better than Samsung anyway. This ROM is extremely stable and will boot if all guidances are followed.
And what is a GSI?'' A generic system image (GSI) is a system image with adjusted configurations for Android devices. It's considered a pure Android implementation with unmodified Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code that any Android device running Android 9 or higher can run successfully.
GSIs are used for running VTS and CTS-on-GSI tests. The system image of an Android device is replaced with a GSI then tested with the Vendor Test Suite (VTS) and the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) to ensure that the device implements vendor interfaces correctly with the latest version of Android.) Brightness - partial fix is by setting in phh settings samsung features then set backlight scale to 1

sim 1 incoming and outgoing does not work (you can revieve calls and call but you wonth hear anything nor will your mic go trying to fix) (workaround is to put your sim into slot 2)

ROM download - Use FDM for faster speeds.
Multidisabler, stock boot.img and TWRP - file given below
Installation Guide- Make sure your phone is already bootloader unlocked and you have a custom recovery installed, minimum.
- Go to your custom recovery and then wipe
- Flash the boot.img file given below (note: Flash only on A71 4G. I am not responsible if your device bricked because you flashed this img on A71 5G or other devices. EVEN IF IT IS SIMILAR, IT WON'T WORK!)
- Reboot to recovery (important)
- Your device might boot to a stock recovery as of now. Don't panic if it does. Power off then boot to download mode
- Select "reboot to download"
- Use Odin to flash twrp-3.6.2_11-3_afaneh92-a71.tar (AP slot) that is given below.
- When the device reboots, immediately boot into the custom recovery by pressing volume up + power button.
- Flash Multidisabler, file given below
- Flash Fix FIRST!!!
- Then flash ROM zip.
- Wipe again just to make sure
- Reboot
- For BT to work better: Disable A2DP offload from developer options.
GSI Optimization (can work for all A12 GSIs)
- PHH Treble Settings -
(device-specific settings)
Open Settings > Phh Treble Settings. Here you have multiple categories.
Head over to 'Samsung features' and enable:
- extended brightness range
- double tap to wake
- access to all cameras
- extra sensors
- Use alternate audio policy
- workaround for white-ish screen
- workaround for broken fingerprint
Get to 'Doze features' and check everything.
Get to 'Misc features' and enable:
- Force allow Always-on Display
- Allow setting brightness to the lowest
- Force enable Camera2API HAL3
- Force-disable A2DP offload
- Disable FUSE storage layer ( Play with it to see if performance is better or worse )
Get to 'IMS features' and enabe:

Once installed reboot!For better performance and battery life:- Uninstall ANY OTHER KERNEL MANAGER app including smartpack/Ktweaks to avoid conflict, since this app uses AI and machine learning to dynamically boost performance when needed- Update FDE AI to the latest version by downloading the latest APK here, then rename the apk to zip and then flash it via magisk: https://github.com/feravolt/FDE.AI-docs/releases- Open FDE.AI settings, enable analyze apps, disable throttling and ignore charging (A71 doesn't get hot anyways, so scamsung's throttling measures are useless mf), Force Doze mode, and check ALL build.prop tweaks (this might fix slow mobile data and many other network related bugs, and graphical glitches with the GPU tweaks)- Go to tools and select extra optimization - toggle max performance then click on START, and make sure you set auto optimization as well, I recommend setting the time to 23:00 PM - 04:00 AM- Go to the settings tab and use the AUTO settings for FDE AI, make sure you toggle advanced mode aswell.Install GMS Doze Magisk Module: https://github.com/gloeyisk/universal-gms-doze

As Samsung has been making crappier and crappier vendors that introduce even more bugs plus increasingly locking down devices, I recommend downgrading to Android 11 Vendor to fix some of the prevalent bugs
Doesn't matter even if you have upgraded to android 13 and your bit/sw rev is 8, downgrade via Odin while you still can. I recommend flashing the Polish firmware, as Poland is the first to receive updates and polish firmware is generally more stable overall.

I only use geforce now and game pass for gaming on my phones, so I can't give you info about it. Might download Genshin impact tho soon, I'll edit my post

If you had the issue, it means your cache partition was read only. If you want your cache to be read-write, just format it. If not, no problem app will work fine anyway now.

Maybe you just dont wait long enough for the app to apply on boot. It should say processing a bit after booting (when ngk app gets bootcomoleted + root access)
Hello, I am using PE+ but unfortunately it doesn't provide support for exfat format for my otg so I am finding a kernel that will provide support for exfat format so should I flash this kernel for that?
