[Q] Trouble while flashing KitKat - Recovery gone

Hi folks,
I have a problem. I tried to flash SinlessRom GE Kitkat 5.1. It flashed allright, but then I got in a boot loop. It boots, but when the set up starts, and I see the screen where to choose the language, then device boots again (and it becomes a bootloop).
I interrupted the boot loop using Vol-down and power, but my recovery wasn't working. When I chose recovery, it didn't entered recovery but booted again.
Then I tried to flash a new recovery, but now I doesn't enter a new bootloop, but get's stuck at the white HTC Screen with in pink "entering recovery..."
I tried to erase cache in fastboot modus, but it didn't help.
Do you guys can help me? Any suggestions?

try erasing the userdata using fastboot. I has a similar problem earlier this week and I remember using that command. Sometime when I enter recovery it just goes to normal boot (randomly), not sure if thats your problem but try entering recovery multiple times. If not...

1- are you s-on or s-off, 4.4 is not compatible (at least for now) with S-On devices!
2- you need to "fastboot erase cache" after flashing recovery; personally i do it before and after, but the important part is after
3- why are you recommending "fastboot erase userdata", just wondering.

+1, s-off is required. I only recommend erasing userdata because I had a very similar issue, erasing userdata and a fresh recovery seemed to do the trick after no luck with simply flashing a new recovery and wiping cache Just going off past experience.

Thanks all for the response.
This did the trick:
erase cache
flash twrp recovery (first I tried cwm)
erase cache
Then I managed to enter twrp recovery and flash a new rom.
Don't know why, but I'm happy again
Thanks for the help.

I can get to recovery, how do I wipe the cache?
To get to recovery hold the power button until it shuts off then press volume down and power at the same time to boot into bootloader. Then use the volume buttons to choose recovery mode and press power.

Hi! Same problem here. Happened when tried to update to 5.0.1 using this guide:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img (I used a decrypted boot.img for 5.0.1)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
Click to collapse
I didn't get any error during the installation. I only did step 1 and 2, and when rebooted before step 3, I got the boot loop.
Recovery mode doesn't work, it shows a "dead" android with a red exclamation sign. I can still go to bootloader mode.
Can you please help me?
Solved it flashing "cache.img".
Hope it helps anyone.

Why are you rebooting it twice while flashing? I've never rebooted it until it was done and I haven't had any issues. Maybe I'm just used to flashing older Nexus devices.

I asked myself the same haha. For no special reason, I was just following a guide, but I've seen other guides where you don't reboot until the end of the process. It's fast and harmless anyway.

Little different situation
Not sure what im doing wrong. my nexus was rooted for 2 to 3 weeks on android 5.1 . restarted today to only find myself stuck in a bootloop [ red green yellow blue ] nexus symbol continuously going, i booted into twrp and tried to restore my nexus to a backup i made after i rooted , but still stuck in bootloop , tried 1 more time to use my backup , but still in a bootloop , then tried to factory reset using twrp , and was still stuck in a bootloop , any tips would be awesome , thanks
EDIT: Think what put me in bootloop was making it where i need a password everytime i restart. just did it and seems some are having same problems .
EDIT 2: Well i got out of bootloop . appears i have also lost root . not sure what i did . after using twrp to install backups, format data , it finally restarted . im pretty positive the problem was caused by setting a restart passcode ! watch out guys ,

[XT1053] Stuck at "bootloader unlocked" / recovery after flashing

I tried to flash back to recovery, but I used
HTML:
TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_5.1.0-LPAS23.12-15.5-1_CFC.xml
, which I'm pretty sure means I'm gonna have a bad time.
I can't flash the LPA23.12 because I get an error doing fastboot flash partition gpt.bin and it screws up my partitions.
I can flash twrp, but that doesn't help me much. I can get to stock recovery, but that doesn't help me much either.
Things I've tried:
Clearing cache/dalvik
Factory reset
Flashing OTA_XT1053_Rooted.zip with TWRP
Running all the fastboot commands for LPA-23.12-15.5-0
Running all the fastboot commands for LPAS-23.12-15.5-0
Restoring someone elses recovery
I have a Windows 10 VM on my Mac, and while fastboot on Windows sees the phone, I can't get it to show up in RDS Lite 2.6.4. Moto Device Manager and Drivers have been installed.
Any ideas? :crying:

Moto G2 bricked - boot loop

I have an unlocked Motorola moto g2, with unlocked bootloader, TWRP installed and rooted stock Android Kitkat.
The battery went completely flat while I was on a road trip, and when I tried to charge it up, it just slows the unlocked bootloader screen, vibrates and then reboots.
I can enter the initial recovery selection screen, but if I select recovery to run TWRP it also just hangs on the splash screen
I've read that the problem could be the battery is too flat, so I took the phone to pieces, and detached the battery connector, and charged the battery to 4.2 V using a regulated external supply.
However, it still doesnt work with a fully charged battery, TWRP still hangs.
I can access the device via fastboot, and tried to reflash the latest version of TWRP, but it didnt seem to help and I'm not even sure if fastboot actually uploaded the latest TWRP as the splash screen, where it hangs, didn't seem to change.
I do not really want to have to completely clear the rom, as I'd loose a load of photos from the road trip, but I've run out of ideas on how to recover the phone.
BTW. It doesnt run up enough to give me adb access.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try.

It sounds to me like you either wiped out the OS somehow or you lost recovery.
Try flashing the latest version of TWRP for your specific model number, then boot to TWRP and wipe only the cache and Dalvik/ART cache, do not factory reset and then try rebooting.

Thanks for the reply
I did try reflashing TWRP using fastboot, but TWRP seems to hang on the splash screen.
But I'm not convinced that fastboot actually installed the new version of TWRP I was trying to flash, as I tried flashing TWRP 3.0.2 , and the splash screen that I see looks like an older version.
So I'll try reflashing TWRP again.

Hmm....seems you might have to fastboot flash the boot.img or system.img from whatever you had when this happened.

Umm.
I can't find the TWRP files backup, but there appear to be plenty of original Kitkat stock roms posted to this forum, so I may as well try using boot.img etc from one of them.

[SOLVED - ALTERNATIVE] Moto G2 bricked - boot loop
I found a boot.img for the phone (XT1068) and tried flashing, but it didn't help
So I then tried flashing the entire stock ROM (using fastboot), but it didn't make any difference.
So I erased all the partitions and reflashed the stock ROM again, and initially I got the broken Android robot screen, but I rebooted it and amazingly Android fired up as if it was a brand new device
I have of course lost all the user data, photos, texts etc, but at least the phone is working again.
In case anyone else has the same problem, I'd probably recommend just trying to erase the cache and try booting and if that failed, try erasing the userdata, as I think the issue was possibly data corruption in one of both of these
I was lucky to find a ROM
http://download1400.mediafire.com/2...L++RETAIL+KXB21.85-14+EARLIEST-by-Reefuge.zip
As most of the links I found to ROMs were old and broken or files had been removed or deleted from the servers
Now that the phone is back with a locked bootloader it is actually updating to Android 5, and I think there is even an official version of Marshmallow for the Moto G2
Anyway, thanks again.... Its a shame I couldn't get my data back, but at least I have the phone working again.
Edit.
In case anyone wants a list of the fastboot commands I used... Here they are..

LG G6 H870 only boots in fastboot mode

Hello,
I tried installing redfox recovery on my H870 and it went well.
However, when I use the key combination for recovery, I always end up in fastboot mode.
I tried re-flashing TWRP from fastboot, went fine, but still not able to boot to it. I always end up in Fastboot mode.
PS: I don't have a OS, so I cannot boot to it either.
Please assist
Thanks in advance
Can I flash a partition using fastboot flash <partition> <filename> which will give me back recovery?
Please ignore: I managed to boot into recovery after I charged the phone for a while
