Question is this phone still the best bang for the buck in 2022 - Redmi Note 10 Pro

Is this still the best bang for the buck phone in 2022? custom ROMs still working good? issues ironed out? ShOuLd I bUy ThIs OvER a SaMmY pHoNe LiKe a A52?!?!??!

There is no manufacturer which I'd recommend without hesitation. Android is in a horrible state after the manufacturers modified it. For Xiaomi this is crippled Always-on-display, disabled Smart Unlock (Bluetooth) etc. Many restrictions for marketing purposes. MIUI is developed without understanding how the memory on Linux shall be managed: You keep everything in memory until someone wants it, so application switching is fast. The installed bloatware is ok, could uninstall it and thanks to DNS66 never saw an ad.
Samsung in my opinion is even worse than Xiaomi. If I buy a phone, it is my device. I want to be able to see all files on it and do a backup. But opening the bootloader Knox gets triggered. They modify big parts of Android for their UI, that's why updates cost them much effort to adopt their changes to new versions. More effort for Samsung, more bugs, worse experience for the user.
If you want a good Android experience, you probably should have a look at Google pixel phones. But bang for the buck is difficult here.
In summary given the choices I'd say the Xiaomi is fine. You could consider the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE if you don't need dual SIM and additional SD card, because 5G will replace 4G one day.

Imho yes but only when you use custom kernel and rom. If you stick with stock ones especially Miui 13 it really sucks, Miui is too resource heavy for 732g SOC. For example when driving I like to listen to spotify in the background and use google maps even though these tasks are fairly lightweight this phone with Miui 13 struggles to run them without stutters and freezes. If you're okay with running stock android like rom, that is when the SOC shines. It runs much more apps than spotify and maps no problem real fluid.

i'm kinda a die hard SD card and headphone jack dude - so this does limit my choices...i mean i had my galaxy note 4 for 6 years (with roms) lol and I'm just starting to get over the fact I won't be able to easily replace batteries in these new phones...ugh. thanks for your sobering input

no joke... a52 is more more better than this ridiculous note10pro... i have all tthese..
note 10 pro have miui orrible and with problems, custom roms with problems (aod, deep sleep, anx not working all).. and terrible drain... no no i have note4,note5 too but this note10 is bad..

Maybe A52s, i'm looking to sell my pristine 10 Pro and maybe get A52s.

interesting this is exactly what i'm deciding between...you had enough of playing with roms? what's the reason for the trade?

The prices I'm seeing; the A52s is twice the price of the Note 10 Pro, so not an even comparison. I just ordered a Note 10 Pro for $200.

In my country Note 10 pro is around $350 brand new in stores for 128GB, and A52s is about 20-30 bucks more.

I like OneUI a bit better, however Redmi has a better build quality and better camera.

Interesting. The 6/64 I ordered is shipped from China, though, not in the store. Still, that's a huge markup.

i found at same prime when buyed.. 260 euro for note 5 pro, 280 for a52

Note 10 Pro has proven to be still better that the next gen, freshly released Note 11 Pro. Easy to repair because screens are on the 120 bucks mark while the back cover is solid plastic, very nice to see and touch and won't break if you pry it for a battery change. Also the silicon cover is great from preventing fall damage.
After debloating its very balanced on any task, but don't expect flagship peak performance by any means yet battery lasts a lot (on short usage sessions it lasted me 3 days without charging, 1,5-2 with continuous/intense usage). Imho, after years going Samsung-only I had enough with Knox nonsense, increasing sales pricing and hard-to-repair phones.

According to the specs, the back cover of the Note 10 pro is gorilla glass 5, not plastic.
The Note 11 pro review I saw at gsmarena would suggest that the Note 11 pro is mostly a downgrade from the Note 10 pro, except for the 5g bands.
Edit to add: There's a 4g and a 5g version for it.

Yes, still the best in this price range of ~230 USD.
Samsung A52 costs 390 USD lol, not even comparable here

Yeah but 5G isn't available anywhere, plus the more users move into new cell tech the more smooth the 4G is going to be. Would not consider unless you're into high speed hype.

Realization just struck me. I have the Glacial Blue version that, along with Vintage Bronze are in fact frosted glass while there's not much about the black version which seems to be more common here. I got blinded by disassembly videos where non-Pro versions were considered the same thing as for Pro, so I just made a mistake. Guess I will eventually challenge myself to remove it in future whenever necessary, such as a battery change. They still look pretty simple and solid to remove and the glass lens vessel is separate tho (right, Apple?). Thanks for pointing out!

Yes, personally I don't care for 5g. 4g LTE is fine. One thing that both of the Note 11 Pro models (4g & 5g) have are increased 4g bands, too, that make them more compatible in the U.S. (bands 12 & 66). If 5g or those additional 4g bands matter to someone, those are improvements/features to consider.
I also saw replacement backs for the Note 10 pro, for around $5, and watched a video that made it look easy to change. Hopefully never have to do that.

I have no problems with ANX, deep sleep, battery drain, etc. on my RN10P running the Project Sakura ROM. It's cool to prefer one phone over another, but spreading misinformation doesn't help anyone.

Development for this phone really isn't in a good place.
If you look at the latest posts on each of the ROMs, there's either big issues with heavy battery drain, touch issues or microphone problems.

note 9 or p20 pro.. which is the best option?

Hi guys
Actually I use a galaxy note 8 but in September. I need to change it because expire the rent signature.
So, I'm looking for a new smartphone.. And the 2 smartphone that I found are note. 9 or p20. Pro..
It's true that are 2 different product.. And the p20 has not the spen.. But I don't use the s pen top much..for work I started to use a iPad with the apple pencil and I think is better for my use.. The display is bigger than a smartphone display...
So, if I forget the spen functionality.. What is your suggestion? P20 is cheaper (not too much) and his camera is better.
Otherwise, I'm started to use galaxy series or note series 8 years ago, the first one was galaxy s1.... Actually the UI for me is easy to use...I'm scared I loose some function with the p20..
Can you give me your consideration?
Thanks
Sam
this is like asking in the huawei forum whether the note 9 is better...
Yes I know.. But if someone need to compare this 2 device, where must ask the question?
If you're used to the Samsung UI, the Huawei EMUI will definitely be quite different. Especially in terms of how it handles battery management and memory optimization, as well as maybe the lock screen notifications. My friend does have a P20 Pro while I use the Note 9, having switched from the S8.
I will tell you right away, if you want better battery life get the P20 Pro.
If you want the better camera, it's honestly a toss-up. In true real world experience, the P20 Pro's camera is not quite the home run critics make it out to be, there were some scenes where even my year old Galaxy S8 could beat the P20 Pro.
If you want the better display there's no question about it get the Galaxy Note 9 it's not only bigger it doesn't have a notch and well it's a Samsung OLED display enough said.
The real question of the Galaxy Note 9 is, how much are you willing to pay for the S Pen, and Samsung's slightly less offensive software. My advice is try to shop around for a P20 pro deal, as it's been out for a while now. If you can get it for significantly less than the Note, buy that. If the prices are within $100 of each other, get the Note. If you can wait, wait for the Mate 20 to release and see how that looks; even if you don't like it, both the Note and the P20 are bound to be cheaper by then.
Oddly enough, the battery test videos show the Note 9 quite superior to the P20. Not sure what is better because I don't buy off brand phones so I have no experience with them.
Lol, P20 Pro's camera is not better. It just has more lenses. If you DO like taking black and white pictures, go for Huawei. If you like functionality, SAME CAMERA PERFORMANCE, S-pen and overall performance, go for samsung. I used to have Iphone 8+, now i own Note 9. I dont feel any different in terms of performance.
I just sold my p20 pro that I've had for two months, my note 9 is coming tomorrow so I can't compare the two (I did have the note 8 and s9 for a while though) but I can tell you some things about the p20.
The camera has been advertised extremely well, and it is great in low light BUT in real world point and shoot situations it's trash in my opinion. I haven't taken one photo on it that I like, all the photos I have taken on auto are over processed and over sharpened. Any Samsung phone I've ever used has always had a fantastic point and shoot camera.
The EMUI no matter what anyone tells you is clunky and just not enjoyable to use. I feel like the new and improved Samsung experience UI is really smooth and easy to use in comparison. I'm aware you can use launchers and stuff but I prefer to keep the stock launcher.
Although the p20 is advertised as having a 4000mah battery I haven't had a great experience with it. This differs from person to person and usage but I really can't get a full day out of it.
I know it might seem like I'm bashing the phone I have enjoyed some aspects of it, but my note 9 is coming tomorrow and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Thanks a lot guys for your really apprecied feedback!
I read your opinion and I thin, again, that my new smartphone will. Be again a note!
Sure, I think the difference respect the note 8 will be not so much, but as I explained, in September expire the relationship with my carrier and I must change the smartphone, and buy a note 8 is not convenient.
Actually in italy the street price of the p20 pro is 700 euroin European version, online.. The Italian versione is slightly expensive, approx 800 euros..
The note 9 will sold 1029 euro, so the difference is 250/350euro,but I can subscribe, is a newest in italy, a subscription with Samsung. I can pay monthly the device for 24 months, with 99 euro of first payment, and obtain a note 9.afyerthis period, I can pay approx 300 euros and the device will be mine, otherwise, I can replace it with a new one..
At the end, I will pay more than 1029 euros but for 24 yeast I have a protection against damage included, and is not a bad things..
P20 pro has not this option, in italy is sold or as a usual with carrier or I must pay it 100%.
About ghe performance...i really stress my smartphone.. I use it for job, I take note during some. Meeting, I use it via chrome cast to watch movies by Netflix or similar, and the integrated dex station function can be a good features (but also the p20 has. This option)
I use also it with camera, because I have 2 children and is always a good. Thing have in my hand a good camere to capture the nice moment of the day.. And this is a good point.. I was sure that the people like the p20 pro camera. Much more than the other. Camera phone, but your real feedback explain a different situation.. I'm not a professional camera man, I need a best camera with automatic setting for this moment, and if you are agree that also the note 9 can be better, this is another good point for note 9.
Finally... The UI powered by Samsung is without secrets for me after a lot of years.. Also, last but not least, when I configure the new device automatically I found saved wifi Hotspot, password and other small information that help me during my Business, and I reduce the stress to replace a new device
Th AK a lot again guys for your explanation.
Ot: somebody with the note 9 can give me a feedback about dex application, in particular for Netflix and autocad application? I think can be 2 real interesting application respect surfing on internet or other solutions

In what ways if you don't mind me asking? I got my note 9 this morning and I am so happy I don't have to use the p20 pro anymore!
@Popmonty battery capacity (sot +40%) and flat screen at start (this rounded screen are totaly pointless for me, expecially on a note series where 10% on screen is useless with pen)! Than, mate 10 pro had stereo sound (note 8 not), much faster (and better positioned) fingerprint, 128gb etc.
On a note 8 side was wireless charging and 3.5mm.
Now in note 9 a lot of things are improved; stereo sound (but still mono for notification except whatsupp app), 128gb base memory, bigger screen and 4000mAh...but who knows what new mate will bring near new kirin 980 and wireless charging. I would wait 2 more months if there is possibility...if nothing, note 9 will be much cheaper in 2 months
Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
P20 pro still uses bluetooth 4.2 while others started with 5.0 like last year? It doesn't matter if I need it or not. For a flagship price it needs to provide flagship specs. Huawei has been known for this kind of **** behind the scene. Who knows what else has been cheaped out on.
Regarding the mate 20 pro... It was also for me a good option.. But I need to finalize the order max in the first week of October because I have to finalize the contract signed with phone operator.. I must return the note 8 otherwise I have to pay another year.. But the cost is similar to buy another one new phone so I will return it.
For this reason I think is not an option for me wait the new mate 20 pro.
Regarding the performance of p20... There are 2 important thing that are not installed in this device.. The 3.5 jack and And the wireless charging... For my personal use the first one is good because in the night in some case I use wired earphone too watch some movies in my bed when my wife sleep.. Are comfortable and I don't want rememberto charge a Bluetooth earphone.. I have the gear icon x of Samsung and I use this only for fitness... And a lot of case are discharge.
The wireless charge instead is good because I have in my office the wireless stand and is confortante charge my mobile while I'm in the office..
Sincerely, I don't know why in the p20 pro there is not at least this option... In fact I read will be integrated with the new mate 20
I would definitely recommend for you to wait and see what the Mate 20 Pro will offer. I am expecting a fairly good phone from Huawei. They have made a few videos targeting the Note 9 so I'm guessed they have something up their sleeves. Also it will have a bigger battery than the Note 9 and also a more efficient SOC being the new Kirin 980 developed on a new 7mn architecture
Only (huge) problem from my POV is that Huawei does not allow unlocking of Bootloaders anymore - so cannot Root or install custom ROMs on Huawei devices - I hope this changes soon.
This factor alone tips it towards the Note 9 for me. Now patiently waiting for a decent price drop - hopefully by November/ holiday period.

I suggest, with respect, you don't make any purchase based on reviews or forum posts for anything you purchase from mobiles to socks. We all differ and it comes down to what your needs are rather than what you want or others suggest.

Ciao Ryland
Sure, I don't purchase note 9nkr hauwei depending of. The forum. Review, I already found this 2 device after personal. Consideration, also I have already the galaxy note 8, so I know the device.
Because are 2 really interesting phone, and because I use for job and personal use the camera, I just ask the opinion of the other person of the forum, because for example test the camera is impossible and I can only as ask a feedback from somebody that already tried both.
For this reason after some consideration read here in this thread I take the decision to buy the note 9 and I wrote this comment... Because some users told me a feedback regarding a feature that I can't test myself.. Sure I must believe to this person.. But I think also this is the spirit of the forums, no?
huawei's software is trash (and with that locked bootloader stuff u cant even flash custom roms lol), that alone is enough for me to not buy a huawei phone

Rooting is a waste of time in this day and age. If you need to root a phone you are a million miles from a typical user.
The P20 pro is not as good as the Note 9 I would agree, but the software is fine, as is the Note software.
If you need to root then get a Nexus 5 or something.
With regards to the rest of this thread, for me the pros and cons are:
Note : Faster, Slightly better screen, Headphone Jack
P20 Pro : Better/ Louder sounding speakers, Much better camera in ALL scenarios barring indoor low light. Less noise, better zoom, better overall quality, much better low light.
I have both phones right now, and honestly if the P20 pro had better video recording and was a little less laggy on graphics intensive stuff, I would use it as my main phone. BUT the note 9 is a more polished phone and is better in almost all ways barring speakers and photos.

Any reason to upgrade to the Galaxy Note 20 (Ultra)?

I want your thoughts. Why would or wouldn't I upgrade from a Galaxy Note 9 to the new Galaxy Note 20 (or Note 20 Ultra)?
Here's what I think/understand about the situation:
The Galaxy Note 9 still works fine
Android 10 will be the last Android upgrade the Note 9 will see.
One UI Updates for the Galaxy Note 9 until One Ui 2.5. Note 9 users won't get One UI 3.0 and beyond
It looks like us Note 9 users will continue to receive security updates. But, for how long?
Of course the Galaxy Note 20/Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are going to be better devices than the Note 9 in terms of specs, that's to be expected. If my screen was cracked, I could justify an upgrade.
Any other compelling reasons or features that would make one want to upgrade?
Bottom line, people will get one for their own reason. Or get one because they have had every Note since Note 1.

No
The Note9 has:
No notch or hole display
Headphone jack
Led notification light
Iris scanner
Heart rate monitor
Bixby button (yes i say it as an advantage, I've made it a mute toggle via BxActions app)
Better rear camera design (personal opinion)
Hard press home button
More reliable rear placed physical fingerprint sensor
512GB storage (I'm comparing the 512/8 GB model as that's the best Note9 model)
Note20 Ultra has:
Ultrawide camera
S Pen air actions
No bixby button (can be advantage or disadvantage)
Wireless powershare
Ultra wide band chip which they advertised
5G
Longer software update support
Honestly the Note9 seems like a better device imo. The features it has are very useful in every day situations.
The only thing missing from it which would have been nice is the Ultra wide camera which isn't as big of a deal as the headphone jack or a nice looking uninterrupted display. Cameras on Note9 still take amazing pictures and video. Everyone who sees them is surprised how good they are. I just bought my 512 Exynos 5 months ago and am loving it more than any device that launched after it. Also don't care for software updates so that's that. It got Android 8.1 out of the box, got Android 9, got Android 10 with OneUI 2.0, got OneUI 2.1 and seems like it will get OneUI 2.5. I mentioned UI updates as those introduce more features than an OS update Basically you've almost got a Note20 Ultra in terms of software but you've also got more features which you'd actually use daily. And that Ocean Blue with the yellow S Pen looks awesome
PS: The regular Note20 is a joke and shouldn't even be considered.
If there is something that YOU need on the Note 20/20 Ultra then you get it. Don't look to us to justify a purchase. I'm not trying to be rude just being honest.
At the end of the day you're going to do what you feel you want. We can't make or stop you from getting a device that you're obviously interested in
I only upgrade to Note 20 with Snapdragon 865. Mostly because I pretty hate the curved screen on Note 9. Too inconvenient
I'll get the Note 20, when i hit the lottery. The more people that buy it, the next Note will be $1500.00. If i said what i really think, i'd be barred from this forum.

I am using a Note 9 since it was launched and I love it so much. A bit disappointed that I didn't get the 512gb variant because it cost about $300 more.
You can install a 512gb SD card. I won't touch the Note 20 now, because I refuse to get a bank loan for a cell phone. In about 18 to 24 months, I could get one for half the price.

I don't do contracts. If I can't buy it outright, I don't buy it.
Note 4 was the last smartphone that made sense to buy/keep and, sadly, it was neglected by the majority of the community (the Exynos version, thankfully there have been a couple of developers doing their magic). I hate the curved, narrow screen of the sequels, among other things. At least my Notes 9 and 8 still have a headphone jack. I wouldn't "upgrade" to antyhing over 9 even if they paid me.

If we have learned anything form the S20 Ultra is that the Laser Auto Focus on the Note 20 Ultra would probably be very glitchy. Samsung will continuous be releasing software updates to try and fix it.

No I will not be upgrading.
1. Enoughf with dumping the crappy chips on us in India. If you want our business offer us the option of buying the CPU we want or upgrade Indias status to first world i.e. give us the same chip sets as USA and China get.
2. Missing HR and O2 sensors which I use every day to measure my BP, Tune my medication.
3. You never know with Samsung what bug will crop up when. The S20 screens with the crappy Indian market chip started turning green. All over India after the s/w update.
4. In a few months you will know what the bugs are and it will be cheaper.
5. These phones are getting to be more like walking around with a glass egg that will scratch, bend, break. Each new version seems to get more delicate and more fragile.
6. The tension of walking around with and using a 1000+ phone is just not worth it. I find walking around with a cheap phone so liberating.
My Fav Note was the 4 and the 9.

If I could've held on to my 4 for a bit longer I would've. It had root, custom roms, plus I had an extended battery on mine. So I honestly understand what you mean. These things are getting more expensive, yet hilariously less durable.
The entire world isn't treated equally when it comes to chipsets and that leads to mixed issues that typically might not get fixed. Honestly? Me understanding what Samsung is doing and the piss poor reasoning behind it has lead me to start looking into other OEM. Like nokia, motorola, one plus. Just someone else with a better Android experience without the bs price tag but with decent specs and a bomb camera.
I agree...
I love my note9 and i would want to continue with more longer as i can. I bought it in August 2018. The first day arrival. 512 GB purple colour...still click amazing photos...
It rocks. I was waiting eagerly for note20 1 TB phone...but sorry will not shift to Note20.
I'm keeping my Note 9
I've read a lot of reviews and YouTube videos hyping the Note 20 Ultra and I don't see a reason to upgrade. My Note 9 will be paid off this month and I couldn't be happier. After receiving the OneUI 2.1 update, I noticed excessive battery drain and couldn't get through a whole day anymore without having to charge it. I reset my phone last week, and in addition to enabling an Adaptive Power setting, I have been able to restore all day use of my phone. It's working better than before so for me, I see no reason to upgrade.
There's a reason the phone is overpriced, yet the carriers are offering discounts up to 50% to encourage you to upgrade. I have a conspiracy theory that there may be something wrong with the phone that will come up in the first 6 months of widespread consumer use. (Remember the Note 7?) I don't usually jump on the "I NEED to upgrade right away" bandwagon for that particular reason. It's a major marketing ploy by Samsung to generate interest from the "Gotta have it NOW!" crowd. I know what you're doing Samsung and I'm not falling for it. I'm still part of the unemployed masses, so I'll be spending my money on more worthwhile things like feeding and housing my family. I plan on rocking my 9 for as long as I possibly can.
Note 9 is quite a classic phone, I will replace a battery to continue using it!It has been confirmed that One Ui 2.5 will be updated!

Question Second thoughts...

Ok, so I really have serious thoughts of throwing in the towel, buy a s21 Ultra, and say goodbye (forever) to Xiaomi.
I gave Xiaomi a second chance with the Mi 11 Ultra (Global), having previously tried the Mi 10. Camera aside (which on Global still hasn't got the DXO updates), I really find the absence of SW updates highly disappointing (no update for two months, May Security release - in August), accompanied with minor SW annoyances proper testing would squash.
Have anyone had same throughts?
Idk where you live but latest eea is 12.5.6.0

I am not impressed by the phone either and it's the first and probably last time I'll buy from them
The hardware sounds good on paper
The software is junk and I've tried all the ROMs
The camera isn't as good as it should be
The rear screen functionality is a joke
The USB 2.0 file transfer takes forever
The gorilla glass "victus" even picked up a scratch in the first month and I was getting relatively careful with the phone (by my standards)
The Samsung is a better all-round device but I don't want 25w charging in 2021 so I decided the Xiaomi will have to do
Seems like the best sd 888 flagship now is probably the honor magic 3 or the if you can find one or maybe the p50 pro + if you want the best camera....
Xiaomi.eu rom (frequent updates) + gcam for camera and I think it's great.
Do agree with the USB 2.0 though..
Honestly it's a Chinese phone so chinese market gets treated much better with frequent updates, ao for the global market unless you speak Chinese the only alternative is going with Xiaomi EU ROM
Samsung can make excellent flagship phones but the S21U is a dog.
You want a SD card slot... and an spen.
This year is dead as Zed as far as Samsung is concerned.
Either wait to see what Samsung releases next year (there should be a Note released) or get a Note 10+ or Note 20U.
Personally my pick is still the 10+ running on Pie.
Android 10 and especially 11 are a mess with lame Apple like scope storage that eats CPU cycles for nothing but trouble.
Yeah Android dropped the ball worse than Samsung.
It's been a ball dropping year...

All updates in the China roms (stable and nightly beta's) are in the Xiaomi.eu roms (stable and weekly). What those developers do is take the China rom, strip out all Chinese bloat and script and add Google services, as well as, other custimization features. Before You throw in the towel, try this rom.

Samsung makes better flagship phones... when they want to.
I'm holding one. Rock solid stable, fast and running/looking like it was new nearing the two year mark. One replacement battery so far on this heavily used device. Current OS load is over a year old, still fast and glitch free with very little maintenance.

I was supersatisfied with my Note 9 and I'm buying the s21 Ultra 512 since I'm getting it at a super-good price, and it's camera seems to be better than the Note 20 Ultra, based on what I've seen. So yes, I agree that Sammy is making better flagships.

Snap... you could have got a Note 20 U for less. With its 1tb SD card capacity, 128gb internal memory is fine. Lol, I'm using 64 of my 512gb internal memory.
This is my first Xiaomi phone in over 10 years and I'm still willing to give them more chances as it didn't break my bank and we have an amazing EU custom rom dev who works tirelessly for our Western community fanbase to fine tune it for our audience, which isn't always easy. I initially was very dissatisfied with the CN stable but now all my Google apps are working as they should on the EU Weekly - I would recommend trying it as I was skeptical at first.

Yeah, it's my choice. But then again, I don't want to go down that path; I can even flash EEA on my Global too. Why, I explained before.
I simply experience too many issues with it to give it another shot:
* When I play YT videos, the sound seems to dance between the left and right speaker,
* The notification shade from time-to-time doesn't follow the theme,
* I find the cell reception to be worse than other phones I've used,
* The proximity sensor is behaving erroneously (been covered in this forum),
* Lack of SW updates,
* It's a Global device and the official MI service cannot, per agreement, serve the phone,
* I find the build quality not to be premium (my old OP 8 Pro, even Note 9, has a better grip in the hand)
I need not continue...
The SW needs way more polishing, in my eyes, to be worth the money.

Question Should I buy the redmi note 10 pro?

In my country it has a great price and is one of my top options. But I hear that miui has a lot of problems. Should I look for another phone from another phone brand instead or do i buy the redmi note 10 pro?
{Mod edit}
Edit: Im going to go with it and buy the redmi note 10 pro. People who have had it said that they didnt have any problems. I feel it in my guts that i will be happy if i buy this phone. Plus it has good specs, a big battery, a simple elegant design and miui has notification/quick toggle separation
I'd say no.
I went from a poco f1 to a redmi note 10 pro and apart from the charging speed and speakers it's a huge downgrade.
especially the camera and the sound through the 3.5mm port.
Look, MIUI is absolutely garbage. I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're 100% sure you want to install a custom rom at which point the phone is great. If you don't want to fiddle with that go for a samsung or something.

Why is it garbage. I went form slow and laggy S21 with OneUI to Mi 11, then to Note 10 Pro because of 3.5mm and cheaper price.
This is overall the best device i ever had, even better than Mi 11 while cheaper.
Miui has more features and it's much faster than OneUI, no lag and battery is incredible.
I also tried few custom roms, features are limited, no face unlock, app lock, etc...
However i use EU model that doesn't have all the tracking and ads like global models do.
I would 100% recommend this phone.
I just received mine today as a cheap run-around but I have so far no issues what so ever with MIUI. Despite having quite a bit less powerful than my Tab S7+ it feels almost as smooth and snappy. The only issue I had with this device was with the IR blaster but that was purely inadequate software. Uninstalled the stock app and one free app from the Play Store later and the IR blaster functions as expected and I can operate every TV in the house with it. I also found the colours to be a little bit blander than my S7+ but there's an option in the settings for colour schemes to always enhance the colours which makes the world of difference and now I'd say it's comparable with the colours on my Tab S4 which still has a beautiful screen even by today's standards.

Every samsung is laggy as soon as you install couple of apps and fill half of the storage. MIUI is faster, also battery is non comparable, both charging speeds and drain.

With the shear amount of Samsung devices I have I can tell you with absolute certainty that that statement is not true at all. I have over 70 GB worth of apps on my Tab S7+ right now and it isn't phased at all. Even my old Tab S4 has managed a good 40 GB of apps with no slow down what so ever.

Its simply impossible to have more lag in S21 than in Note 10 Pro no matter how many apps you install, I mean look at the specs. One of them is factually the best Android phone and top tier flagship, competing with the likes of Pixel 6 and iPhone 13, and the other is a low-midrange tier phone.
And who said OneUI has no app lock or face unlock?
Did you use the budget One UI lite for low range Samsung phones? Low end samsung phones are terrible. Please stop spreading false information, or even if its true someone 100% conned you into buying a faulty or fake S21.
The statement "S21 is better than Note 10 Pro" makes zero sense. Its like saying iPhone 4 is better than iPhone 13
Done't buy any Xiaomi phones unless you are a Chinese citizen or use Chinese apps (MIUI is very optimised for the Chinese ecosystem), or you want to flash a custom ROM.
If you are okay with flashing custom ROMs and have tight budget limits then go for it

Note 10 Pro is faster than S21 "original obviously". You Samsung fanboys are in denial Samsung has terrible ram management, bad multitasking and is laggyer than Miui.
As far as App Lock or Face unlock i was talking about custom roms for Note 10 Pro based on Android 12.
With both Mi 11 and 10 Pro i had much better experience, multitasking is super fast when switching opened apps. For me it has to be instant, maybe you guys have higher tolerance on samsung phones.
However i will check out S22 ultra with that SD 8 Gen1 and hope for the best.

RN10 Pro is best phone you can get *for the money*. Pointless to be comparing it to higher models which are higher price then saying its not as good.
So far stellar experience for me and MIUI 12.5 (esp EU) is superior to other custom ROMs. Native based MIUI ROMs ensure you get the best camera performance as non-native ROMs degrade cam performance in one way or another. MIUI 12 is a vast improvement over past MIUI versions, and I presume those who dont like MIUI are speaking with these past versions in mind.
No.1 criterial I went for RN10 Pro is 5000MaH battery. Higher up phones have smaller batteries and with their more powerful chips drain battery quicker. I use my phone as a PHONE, not as a gaming device. So its from that perspective I speak. Gamers will speak in other terms and with other criteria in mind.

Trying to automatically unlock the phone when connecting Bluetooth to the car, I had to learn that MIUI is crippled against standard Android. Its Smart Unlock only unlocks against Xiaomi devices! But
1. Xiaomi does not manufacture any car
2. I moved away from Apple because they tried to lock me in their product portfolio.
By having a Samsung Galaxy S3 I learned that Samsung modifications of Android are not good. But Xiaomi seems to be not better.
The Note 10 Pro is a good device, but MIUI is a disadvantage. Like TouchWiz is a disadvantage for Samsung which lets me ignore any Samsung device before having seen any test and never recommend a Samsung device. By disabling standard Android functionality for marketing reasons Xiaomi is on the way to the same personal mental trashcan.

No, I've had no trouble at all with MIUI. The only things I'm not bothered about are the occasional ads in system apps and Mi Music but that's personal preference. The ads can be freely turned off in the settings in Mi Music btw. I'm using a port of Samsung Music on it which works amazingly and Oto is excellent as well.

Had both, don't need to search. On S21 i had lag/stuttering issues while multitasking and switching apps, i have no such problems on MIUI.
However this was late last summer, and OneUI 4 was just released, so it's probably fixed. I also had A71 and recently A52s, and since those are mid range they are also not faster in regular use than mid range Note 10 Pro.

General Very Disappointed in OnePlus

The OP 10 Pro is the second time OP has truly disappointed me. The phone is only available with 128GB in the US. For a "pro" model, this is a joke. The $900 price puts it right at a PIxel 6 Pro and S22+ price. There is 0 reason to get the OnePlus vs those two, considering both have substantially better cameras, more support for accessories, and much bigger communities on XDA.
My most recent OP was the 9 (non-pro). I've been very disappointed with the cameras, as even an old Pixel 3 I have takes better pics in most conditions. I replaced it about a month ago with a Korean s20 Ultra (so I can root), and I'm never going back. Much better camera, so many case options, and even though the processor is an older model, it feels just as fast. Went with the 20 vs 21 for sdcard support, and having an extra 512gb for $60 is great. I have all my pics and vids ever on the phone. All OSM for US, Canada, and Mexico, tons of music on the phone for flying (which I do a lot).
I've been a long time OP supporter, right from the OP1, and have had every phone except the OP2. They seemed to lose their way with the 7 (I had to get a chinese model since I didn't want the pro), and have been on a decline ever since, charging more but not offering anything better except the new snapdragon processor.
Sorry for the rant. I'm sure the 10 pro will be a decent phone. Right on par with the 9 pro, which was a decent phone. I'm just not excited about OP releases any more, when I used to be online hitting refresh for the sale to open.
Doesn't help that Jerryrig snapped the phone in half very easily. Be careful, these look fragile.
No SD card slot regardless of the internal memory capacity is a severe handicap. Even 500gb internal memory isn't enough let alone 128gb without an SD card. Having a OS drive and data drive(s) is the best way to run any PC or smartphone.
Samsung has also dropped the Note and the ball on all their current Flagships.
They screwed their loyal power users Apple bad.
Google Adroid emulated Apple by adopting cpu cycling sucking, user unfriendly scoped storage.
Android 11 and up suck Apple bad now.
I have 2 N10+'s, the second new one was bought 5 months ago. One is running on 9, the newer one on 10.
Whatever. I'm good for a couple years.
OEM new device releases are always a rollercoaster
I just ordered the Global black 128gb 10 Pro to take it for a spin....
No dual-sim USA. No 256gb USA. Both deal-breakers for me.
I spoke with my money when I canceled and bought a pixel 6 pro instead.

AH, yeah! Fromt the 6 is quite a big move indeed!
I came from the 8Pro, not a crazy difference, but with the trade-in I got just a little less of what I paid for at last year's Amazon Black Friday
I don't understand why anyone would buy this phone. Performance is the same or worse than a 9 Pro depending on what you are doing, has less storage and ram, is more fragile, and the camera system overall is worse. This phone is a flop.
Another interesting fact is that our local amazon has gone down in price. For the first two days it was 1029Euro, then they lowered the price by 6% to 964Euro.
Not much, but still something. Plus headphones (OnePlus Buds Pro) on sale in preorder and the price becomes bearable
I can test it for one day and here are few things...

Hey,
You got the 10.. I just received mine today, good t see you.
Re: the OP.... Soon as there's some good pixel ROMs the photos back storage will be unlimited, 128GB for the most part is more than enough, at the end of the day it's a phone, would be nice to have more but not the end of the world.
Regarding the RAM, I'm not too upset by it.. should use less battery being 8 and not 12.. I don't think that there will be a performance hit.
Rest of the hardware is the same so I'm happy with it.
Guess if you really need 12 and 256 plus then I think your only option would be to buy direct.
