CD-18781Y (Lenovo ThinkSmart View) Bootloader, Firmware, Zoom/Teams Conversion, Normal Android - Google Home

Unlock Semi-Normal Android Usage
On the 201006.099 Teams & Others build you can turn on adb which lets you remove the teams/kiosk launcher and have a normal Android 8.1 interface.
On the 200628.084 Teams & Others build it already has adb on by default so you can skip Steps 5-8
If you have a Teams Edition new in box adb should work on that firmware.
Flash a Teams & Others build following the firmware flash guide below
When it boots up select Teams (Others seems to try and network boot/download files and fails)
Go through the setup wizard until you get to the Microsoft Teams (Language > Wifi > Bluetooth > Teams)
Select the Gear Icon in the top right of the teams page
Select the "About" settings option
Tap on "CD-18781Y.200628.084" under firmware version a bunch of times rapidly until a prompt comes up saying developer unlocked.
If your usb c cable is plugged in unplug and replug it in
You will now have ADB access
Download your desired Launcher and use the following command to install it:
Code:
adb install APK_FILE_NAME.apk
You will then need to send this adb command to select a new default launcher:
Code:
adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -c android.intent.category.HOME
I would recommend getting a Button Remap app due to there not being a Nav bar currently. I have found Vol+ single click mapped to back and long press mapped to Home works well.
If you get stuck an app before you get a back button, send the command from step 10 to go back to the launcher.
Bootloader Unlocking Do not do it for now
If you unlock the bootloader your device will only boot EDL or Fastboot. Any other mode will drop the device into Qcom 900E. To fix the device boot to fastboot and relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock or fastboot flashing lock)
Unplug the device
Hold Vol- and plug in the device (Smart Plugs can make this easier)
fastboot oem unlock-go
Convert Teams Edition to Zoom Edition or vice-versa
Follow the flashing guide below just grab either the Zoom or Teams firmware. ADB enable will only work on Teams Versions. I have not found a way to do it on the Zoom firmware.
Flashing the Lenovo firmware
(Windows) QFIL
Download and install the Qualcomm drivers from here
Download the teams/zoom flash package from below
Extract the firmware to a folder that you can easily access them from like your desktop
Download and install QPST from here
Open the QFIL application (Find it in your start menu)
In the "Select Build Type" field select Flat Build
In the "Select Programmer" field navigate to the folder you extracted the firmware and support files to and select the prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn file
Select the "Load XML" button and navigate to the folder you extracted the firmware and support files to and select the rawprogram_unsparse.xml and then the patch0.xml when prompted.
Remove the cover on the USB-C port on the bottom right of your device
Plug the Usb C cable into your computer
Unplug the power from the device
Hold vol+ and Vol- and then plug the power into your device (Smart Plugs can make this easier)
If the text at the top of the QFIL application mentions qdloader move on to next step. If it says "No Port Available" click the "Select Port..." option and pick your device. If your device isn't showing up there you most likely didn't install the drivers properly.
Click the Download Button to begin flashing your device
Once complete it should automatically reboot but sometimes it doesn't so you need to replug your device.

Notes
Boot buttons
Vol- plus Power plug in = Fastboot
Vol+ plus Power plug in = Recovery
Vol+ and Vol- plus power plug in = EDL
Even after EDL flashing firmware when unlocked it still drops into 900E. I also tested flashing unsigned images when bootloader locked but it does not boot as expected.

wau....thank you
i have got gratis some devices ... i want to use it as internet radio / player
Now i have question.
How to run my launcher after startup? My device starts to black sreen and i must start launcher via adb
...default launcher is set.
Btw do you know if is possible to root it?
EDIT: ...i have installed via adb Virtual Softkeys (no root).apk. It runs automatically after reboot (needed swipe for view it), then press home....and launcher starts

Oki oki...have you installed correct driver? ...what you see inside device manager? If you use w10...have you run QFIL as admin?
I have for flashing w7 laptop...no problems with drivers etc

I got one of these to use as a smart display, it's on a firmware version between the 2 reported here as allowing ADB, activating ADB works on this also so I set everything up, is there any advantage to flashing the newer version that supports ADB from here?
Did anyone try booting a GSI with bootloader unlocked or booting the stock firmware with a Magisk patched boot image?

Currently bootloader unlocking makes the device only boot into EDL or fastboot. Even if you reflash the firmware. The only way to get out of it is to relock the bootloader. I have not tested if partitions are being verified when locked. But I would guess and assume it would fail to boot. But it is worth a try you can edl flash to recover.
For updating if adb works and you don't plan on using the teams/zoom software itself there is no point on updating.

Alright, thank you.
I was asking about Magisk or a GSI with bootloader unlocked cause the check that makes it not boot may be in the kernel. I don't exactly have the time to test right now but I will towards the end of August.
Do we have any idea what tool to use to unpack the firmware yet?
I'd actually like to update the Teams app to latest cause I use it for university (if it'll even allow me to connect with a student account) and I have a Zoom account which I randomly use with friends so having that here would be useful as well.

I don't believe a student account will work for teams. It requires enterprise IT to add the devices to accounts. But your zoom account should work if you flash over to that firmware.

Thanks, I'll try extracting the apks from the Zoom version to install on the current Teams with ADB firmware I have, I'll report back if that works.

Ignore me I'm a bit braindead, thank you for this wonderful thread.

So my progress currently is that I have uninstalled Kiosk, Lenovo Bloat, Teams & the weird settings thing and installed a button remapper, Nova launcher and Chrome.
Now it works perfectly for playing videos via browser YouTube, havent yet tried getting YouTube itself running. And I have back button via volume plus + volume minus.
Works awesomely and I can't thank this firmware enough. Got the machine for 34eur brand newish.

Nice, i too got a set just today and it was very easy to get it working!
Youtube won't work as there's no GMS in it.
What i did was download vanced manager, installed the microG apk and then Vanced apk and that worked!

thanks it works just had to roll back my unit to .084, now need to figure out what apps i need to load make it more usable

Amazing! Got this to work perfectly - I'm curious... what is everyone using there devices for?
I'd like to use it as a bedside nightstand showing clock/weather etc, but unsure what good apps to use?

Hi can you please assist.
I have flashed 201006.099 Teams & Others build.
How did you uninstalled Kiosk, Lenovo Bloat, Teams & the weird settings thing.

Recently I got two of these devices. Assumed they where just cheap "normal" tablets.
I've learned a lot since then......
Flashed both devices to 201006.099, thanks to the excellent guide in the first post
Deinstalled a whole lot of stuff: (Just stuff I didn´t need for my purpose)
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.microsoft.skype.teams.ipphone
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.kingston.kioskmodeapp
pm uninstall -k --user 0 jp.co.fsi.fskaren.lenovo
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.microsoft.windowsintune.companyportal
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.microsoft.teams.ipphone.admin.agent
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.kingston.devicesettings
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.music
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.deskclock
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.contacts
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.providers.calendar
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.calendar
pm uninstall -k --user 0 org.codeaurora.snapcam
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.quicksearchbox
Installed F-Droid:
adb install F-Droid.apk
From F-Droid install keymapper and aurora store
Configures the volume keys to home and back.
From Aurora store install the stuff you need from the playstore. As simple as that!

Possible bricked device?

Hi all,
So I gave my tablet to a friend to "fix" some issues. I had hdmi not working, and the battery meter wouldnt drain. I had the latest CM11 nightly on it.
Long story short, he formatted everything in the mounts and storage menu in clockwork recovery. Now the screen of course just stays on the Asus loading screen. I can get into recovery, but I cant find my external sd card etc. I cant find any of my zips. Any suggestions?
Can you access sideload und push a cm zip via adb?

Sort of. ADB seems to only somewhat work. When I try to adb push cm11.zip or adb sideload cm11.zip. It only seems to get up to about 17% then fails.
Maybee sdbags or pershot can help you but i'll also think more about this

Provide the recovery.log from /tmp and also a logcat over adb of the boot process.
The failing to push could either be a driver issue or a bad partition on the device.

This is what I get from logcat:
"adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
/sbin/sh: exec: line 1: logcat: not found"
I think I am entering the command right: adb logcat > prob.txt
Here is the recovery.log:

Provide the recovery.log from /tmp and also a logcat over adb of the boot process.
The failing to push could either be a driver issue or a bad partition on the device.

Yes you are in serious trouble.
You need to reformat your partitions - try this thread.

I think that is Asus stock firmware. You can download it on Asus official site: http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/The_New_ASUS_Transformer_PadTF701T/HelpDesk_Download/

I unpacked everything and followed the fastboot instructions. I am still getting the same errors as before. I have the sd card in, but I cant access it. The only directory I can access in clockwork is /sdcard/0/clockworkmod
The fastboot commands worked fine as they all said "OKAY" after executing.

You can try flash full firmware through fastboot. I'll make system.img later, and you should execute:
Code:
fastboot boot system system.img
Which number of firmware you downloaded?

I downloaded ASUS Transformer Pad(TF701T) Firmware: V10.26.1.18 Only for US SKU (Android 4.3). I owe you beer money if this works.
Try it:

(Don't remember unpack archive)
Also, I wrote wrong command. Right one is:

ok, seemed to complete...but nothing has changed. It does say unrecoverable bootloader on the power on screen. I got into recovery and am still having the same issues. I tried sideloading CM again and still only gets to 15% then fails.

Try different version and u should connect with internet while flashing
It worked when I used qpst 2.0.1.7 and you have to rename the firmware folder making sure that there is no space in the name of the firmware that is given in the above post otherwise Sahara fails error will appear again and again this should do your work

Biggest thing I've found that causes Sahara and other failures is Windows built in antivirus system, turn it completely off, and you're almost 100 percent more likely to have a successful flash.

I'm always connected to the internet, I tried with 2 PCs, but nothing !, my phone had the bootloader unlocked, will it be the fault of that?
qfil screen:
https://ibb.co/mFL2v5J
edit:
I solved, I had read, Select 8917 for 2GB RAM
select 8937 for 3GB RAM, my phone has 3gb ram, but with 8937 no flash, with 8917 all ok!
Strange!
except that the microphone works to record audio, not for calls.
following the instructions on this web page, I no longer had errors with qfil, the page is in Italian,
There is GOOGLE TRANSLATOR.

Hi
I've got the same issue with my Nokia 8 ta1004. Just wondering if you have solved the problem. Sharing information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

TA-1157 Brick 9008

Comrades, I ask for help in this difficult matter. We have a Nokia 4.2 device on hand. I did not find anything in the topic for 4.2, I say right away. I dug up the Lineage OS firmware with xda, the bottom line is that I unlocked the bootloader, rolled up the twrp and in the end something went wrong and I have a hard brick that does not react to anything. What I tried to do: I tried to sew in QFIL / QPST (different combinations of buttons and battery cable did not change anything), the body can be seen in 9008. As a result, I had an error in the rawprogramm0 file, and in QFILL various kinds of Unable to read packet header. As a result, I still have a 9008 brick. I searched for testpoints, but nothing changed as a result. I tried to read forums, but there are no cases specifically for this device.
Error with the latest version of QFIL #
Spoiler: Error log
